I think it's really great that you guys explain what to look for in a lure whether it's high quality swivels that let the blades spin well in spinnerbaits or the placement of the eye in finesse jigs that help you bring them through rocks and prevent hang ups. Showing the different retrieves is really great too. It's the helpful and unique insight that keeps me coming back to this channel time and time again.
Great video and tips Glenn. I really like the addition of the underwater footage so we can see the action of the jig. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Those tips will definitely help when the bite gets tuff. And I agree with switching to 6lb line. It makes a big difference in clearwater. Another great video Glenn, keep em coming. Thanks!
Excellent tutorial!! I'm not a proficient jig angler, however I am going to employ these techniques when I'm back on the water. I have some awesome places I need to do this!! Thanx Glenn for the tips!!
You tell a bunch that I already know, but it's a great thing to keep me grounded and think about those little things that I overlook through the day. And I love to send new anglers or learning anglers to you channel. You are doing great with to the point tips and not a lot of fluff.... keep it up 👍
I just started fishing jigs more this year. I haven't fished the finesse jigs much at all but, after this video I'm going to give them a shot! Great tips Glenn!
Great video Glen! So much knowledge in all of you videos but this one especially surprised me. I like how you talk about presentation and line because they both are extremely important. I have never fished finesse jig but now I have plenty to take with me next time on the water. thank you!
I never would have thought to drag or crawl the finesse jig. Thanks I will be sure to use these. Also love the underwater footage of the crawl so we could see what the jig does down there not enough instructional videos do this.
I have been fishing finesse jigs for a while now with some success but not a whole lot of confidence. After watching the video, I can't wait to get back out there and try it again. I'm especially excited to try the new retrieves I have learned from this. Love it and thanks!😃
Just started using these myself recently. Haven't caught anything on them yet but with the tips in this video I am sure I will get something soon! Great video once again!
I love using jigs.... thanks for the tips.. great video as always. I appreciated the rig tips too. I wish more videos touched on rod n reel, you even covered line weight.. nice details. Thanks!
As always, great information! I don't have any finesse jigs in my tackle bag right now, but I will very soon. Thanks for making these videos and making them so a novice like me can understand them. Love your channel and website!
Thanks for the tips Glen. Using floro instead of braid. Keeping backed away versus the close up flip/pitch of a bigger jig. Can't wait to give it all a try.
Finesse was all new to me but with the help of videos like this I'm at least becoming better at it! Jigs as a finesse bait really threw me. Thanks for the helpful video!
It does take a lot of practice to fish with jigs like the pro's do, It is one of the harder baits to fish with. Finesse hits this Video on the head. Thanks Rob
I have never used the yoyo method i have always did more of a straight swim jig. I am going to try some of the finesse jig method didnt think there was so many different retrieves. Thank you for your videos i have learned so much from them.
I was not aware that there was such a thing as a "finesse jig" until watching this. I will have to seek them out and give it a try. Anything that solicits bites on a tough day is something I need!
Fantastic video once again guys great information like always. You guys are really a outstanding resource for bass fisherman worldwide. Keep up the amazing work 👍
I watched this yesterday morning and I downsized to 10 lbs line (i normally use 15lbs). It worked for me. I hooked on a very nice 5-lber. Very cool! Super cool baits too. Thanks Glenn
Glenn, once again great video. Like the idea of using 25lb floor for pitching and flipping finesse crawl or perhaps other small creature baits when the bite is tough. Applying the different retrieves for various situations is great thx again.
Glenn: Notice you do'nt wear button shirts. Thats good!!! I notice also that my saved videos recently have been loading up with Bass Resource, Glenn May videos. I Like your teaching style. This vid is a great example ..... especially including the underwater photog. clarifying the technique. You definitely have a special talent. Am a lifetime almost 85 year old fly fisherman, retired guide, with 5 new spin and casting conventional outfits, learning a new technique....with my trusty fly rod close by, I might add. Many top bass pros are as knowledgeable as you....maybe more ?......but sometimes they know and assume too much, and just do not have the teaching ability and have difficulty in transferring their knowledge in an understandable fashion to us newbies. Keep up the good work.
I've got three or four finesse jigs in my bag.......but havn't gotten comfortable with the style. I'll give it another try, and see how it goes. Thanks, Glenn, for the info
Great info. Your frog one helped me get my personal best 6.24 lb. Jiggin is my weakness so I will try this on Friday. Going to Lake Eufaula ,Al will let you know how I do. Got em ali rigged up already.
LOVE them Strike King Rage Tails...caught a new PB last year at 8 lb 2 oz in IL on them!!! Got a new PB at 10 lb 4 oz here in IL this yaer!!! Finesse=very slow presentation with small baits!!! Use the ball head jigs to get through light weeds and rocks! Be a line watchers and time counter too!!! Gentle lift and drop or drag with rod. Crawl it too!!!
Just learning to use the finesse jig. Your tips will help. I agree with you about them hitting right at the boat. It about gives me a heart attack too.
This is really interesting because I usually think of jigs as big bass baits and go to a small straight tail worm for finesse. The finesse jig might pick up bites that I was missing out on before.
I think it's really great that you guys explain what to look for in a lure whether it's high quality swivels that let the blades spin well in spinnerbaits or the placement of the eye in finesse jigs that help you bring them through rocks and prevent hang ups. a few people don't have the patience, but jig is one of my favorites... many techniques to mimic real world.... walk, drag, etc. thx.
I never would have thought to drag or crawl the finesse jig. Thanks I will be sure to use these. Also love the underwater footage of the crawl so we could see what the jig does down there not enough instructional videos do this.
