His album is in a chronological order.. set me free is the last part..his whole album is based on the emotions he felt in corona pandemic..set me free is based on freeing himself from his negative thoughts or may be based on his struggles he is facing..he have gone through a lot in his career..most all of his songs have interpretation elements..what he exactly meant is personal to him

@Evelyn Fraudulent, you must be fkn kidding. The only fraud is the other 9 got on the top 10 through payola. Their labels pay for radio station spins to top the charts. Big Hit refuses pay for play and that's why the army buys and stream organically. That's the reason his position on the charts this week fell. Billboard changed the rules yet again because someone topping the charts without paying for it hits them in the wallet. Do some research, you sound stupid making such an uneducated remark.

It's not a diss to BTS..It's about setting himself free from his past self during the pandemic when he told that he was suffering from anxiety when all of their concerts got cancelled for covid, he didn't wanna do anything and was going through emotions that he never felt before and more. It's just a rough explanation though. The album contains other songs which represents his previous sufferings during that time. So this was the last track of his album in which he sets himself free from everything. But the performance is just so awesome!! I get goosebumps everytime!! Also loved the reaction. Keep them coming. Love you:)

This was Jimin’s anthemic ‘f**k you and goodbye’ to the negative voices in his head and all the haters who have dogged him for years! He is no longer overshadowed - everyone knows who he is and what a brilliant, world class artist he is!!!
The auto tune is a stylistic choice! The first two phrases are him rap-singing in a very low register- it’s not auto tuned (probably has a bit of layering of his own voice). This low register is reminiscent of him years past where he can be heard singing, growling and using vocal fry in his low register. He is NOT using auto tune in any of the singing that includes high notes - we all know that is Jimin’s unique high vocal range.
It’s not until the first “I never stop” that he uses auto tune (you can tell right away when it ‘kicks in’). And then it’s used as conversation: him trying to be free (verses and chorus in his OWN VOICE) and the angry him (in auto tune) - angry at 10 years of dealing with relentless haters and the effect it’s had on his self-esteem/confidence and resulting negative self-talk) - Brilliantly effective!!!
In the end, he sets himself free, thus emerging in the white clothing as a freed Jimin.
He’s absolutely brilliant…a superstar!

If you know Jimin from baby BTS era, you would know he has a very low register he used to use, along with a growl and vocal fry. The first 2 verses are a melodic rap in HIS voice (you can hear that when he performs this live); he doesn’t use auto tune until “I never stop”. His use of auto tune is perfectly stylistic to reflect a conversation between his angry / angsty self and his normal self asking to be set free! When he sings in his own voice in his high range - which is most of the time in this song - he 💯 sounds like himself! It’s / he’s brilliant!!

Love your reaction. This song is a masterpiece among masterpieces. The album is phenomenal. Although y'all reacted to LC and SMF2, go in order, starting with Face-Off, then Interlude: Dive, Like Crazy, Alone, Set Me Free Pt.2, Like Crazy (English ver), and finally, Letter, a hidden track only found on the physical album. Y'all want to listen to every song at once to get the full emotional story of the album - how Jimin felt during the 2y pandemic and how he struggled. This is a very well thought-out album and that's to Jimin's credit. He is an exceptional creative artist. Letter is to ARMY and JK sings background vocals while Jimin plays guitar. It is the most beautiful song I've ever heard. I'll be looking forward to this reaction! 💜

Jimin is genuinely so multi-faceted (feels perfect that his album is called FACE), and outrageously hard to get a read on/explain. Like you never really know what you’re gonna get with this guy. Jimin once said he's a firm believer in _the clothes make the man_ , so the way he carries himself on a specific day could be a reflection of how he feels in his clothing that day. Like if he's wearing a suit he'd carry himself a certain way, opposed to how he'd act in an oversized hoodie. So while he can be this raw gritty version of himself, he's also just as much the sweet soft mochi version too. 👀💜

To understand the message of set me free you have to listen to the album in the chronological order cause each song portrays a struggle jimin has been suffering with and at the end of the album you find set me free Pt.2 wich reflects him setting himself free from all the struggles battles he mentioned in the previous songs. I'm at ow of his artistry and genius thoughts how he put tge album together is mind blowing it's very meaningful.
