Blue and Grey is my favourite song! Taehyung co- produced, self composed and wrote this song! It was originally suppose to be on his own mixtape, but the members' liked it so much they asked him to put it on the album. Taehyung expressed his emotions so well in the lyrics - he surprised me everytime! He's a genius!
Actually I just looked it up and it looks like RM, Jhope, Park Ji-soo, Levi, Hiss Noise, Suga and Metaphor, V wrote the song and in a Vlive RM said V expressed what he want to write/capture his emotion and RM help write it as well as V writing it too and V, Park Ji-soo, Levi, and Hiss Noise produced it but he did not write it alone
@won9113 rapline always write their parts, I suggest you watch what tae said HIMSELF about writing the song in Be-hind V interview before trying to discredit him.. you confused RM talking about inner child with blue&grey

@@MrKaibaoh oh crap.....sorry I didn't....I am actually new to bts as a fan so I didn't know the rapline always writing their parts I thought OP just said only V wrote the song and I thought this isn't right because I remembered I watched a Vlive video on twitter one of my moots posted of RM talking the behind the story so I just thought I think it is not just V writing the song cus I believe RM and other people wrote the song too but I am so sorry if it seem like....I didn't want to come off as that way

@won9113 RM didn't do a vlive on BE album since it was a personal album and all of them took part in writing the songs in it, if you wanna know about the back story of each song of the album, there's interview series called "BE-hind stories" where each memeber is interviewed by another member to talk about his participation in the song.
Blue&Grey is extremely personal for Tae discussing his burnout and I can't tell you how much he directly told us "I wrote this song" in BE promotion.
And since you are a new fan, our rapline always write their rap so you'll find their names on every single song since they wrote their part, and no song is a single person effort but there's the biggest contributer and the one who direct everyone else in that song, here it was Taehyung.
Sorry my words were kinda harsh but people are always quick to dismiss his efforts and work and this is an extremely personal song for him
Blue and grey is a healing song made by taetae when he wasn't feeling well, i love this song so much 💜
V's composition for blue and grey is incredible.
V also handpicked the lyric verses by the rapline who also additionally wrote their own rap sections in the song.
I remember v saying he rejected RM's verse for the vocal lines lyrics and went with sugas version cus it matched with the original emotion that v wanted to convey through the song.
Black swan lyrics were written entirely by rm, which is unusual cus suga and hope didn't participate. Its because the entire song is just a poem and it's best conveyed in a single flow rather than having intense separation of sections.
It's an absolute masterpiece.

RM co wrote Black Swan, if you look it deep - This song represents of what they have been feeling before pandemic hit. The fear of losing one’s passion and their burnout.
"A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful."
This quote by the late dancer Martha Graham opens the video and is at the root of the sentiments inlaid in "Black Swan."
Much like a dancer feels purposeless when they can no longer express themselves through dance, BTS contends that the day that music no longer fills them with the same passionate fire as before, or even if there came a day when they stopped creating music - what they feel is their life's purpose - it would feel like death. Leader RM sings, "If this can no longer resonate / No longer make my heart vibrate / Then this may be how I die my first death."

There is a recording of V's version of Blue and Grey, but I don't if you'll be able to find it. Taehyung played it while he was sitting on a boat in a large river, during the first season of BTS In The Soop. It was the first time we heard the song. In The Soop is paid content, though.

BTS Black Swan live performance in award shows is so fantastic..the production is always top notched and choreography is always on point.
Blue and grey is the most successful b side by bts. Thank you V for writing this beautiful and meaningful song about what he experienced (depression) a while ago. And also thank you to V for letting it become a group song as it was going to originally be on his mixtape.

In my opinion, Jimin dancing and singing just always stands out so much. He’s an amazing performer and has amazing stage presence. His ability to convey any and all emotions through his dancing is what makes him stand out. He’s such a versatile dancer.
The one in Las Vegas was even more amazing and sorry I have to point out the crop tops and long boots jungkook wore in LA and Las Vegas because that was iconic 😂😂 right armys ?

You think the Vegas one is better? I'm curious why you say that. Jin was not able to perform Black Swan with them because of his cast hand. He had to sit on the sideline and just sing along.

This line touch my heart because i know Taehyung is a person who don't want to be everyone Mr. perfection or doll who listen the world more than his own self but as a normal human with few normal human needs he just want to be happy but sadly he can't get that because of people.

There's a live performance of Blue and Grey for MTV Unplugged that has English subs!
Yes you need to watch the 2020 Mama performance, the whole performance was amazing including the Dynamite dance break. Unfortunately they had to perform without Suga as he’d had shoulder surgery and couldn’t participate but it was touching that they left a spot for him during the show. Jimin dances Black Swan with JK in an iconic performance ❤️
Black Swan refers to the fear of losing your passion in general, but specifically refers to their fear of losing their passion for music… that would be their first death.💜

I love Blue & Grey so much for the raw honest emotions it expresses. My favorite version of the song is Tae's original that he played a a portion of during a moment of In The Soop Season 1. I hope one day he will release his full original version. Blue & Grey and Black Swan go so well together as both address the feeling of not finding pleasure in what you once did. I so wish I could have seen this performance in person. 💜🐳🥰🎉👑

MTV YT channel has a performance of Blue & Grey with subtitles(along with a handful of other great songs recorded during the pandemic, some of them with a live band which is awesome!). Black Swan at the concert is on another level! There are some fancam recordings that show just how amazing the choreography is. The dancers make BTS's coats disappear, and then the members appear & disappear magically from all sides. Note, the camera operators deserve major kudos for recording this performance as well.

Before BTS released this song, BigHit made an Black Swan Art Film, which was danced by a dance group with 7 members. The music was using orchestral instruments while the dance troupe danced to the song using ballet/contemporary dance while dancing barefoot. You can see also the reaction video of BTS watching this Art Film. It was there that they were talking about how Jimin would best be used like the lead dancer in the Art Film.
They debut their version of this song, music accompaniment along with their version of the choreography. You can see the debut on the Late Late Show with James Corden. That is why this song is unlike many KPOP choreography as they added ballet/contemporary to their version, even dancing barefoot. Jimin dances the lead.

Jimin is a contemporary dancer. He nailed the choreo of him showing how flexible his body. Everybody did a good job in showing their choreo. Black Swan is something that army’s really amazed. Please watch the MAMA 2020 live their BLACK SWAN performance will blow your mind. I’m not joking it’s really awesome seeing them doing choreo in the water. For the record the BTS Black Swan does not reference the movie about the ballet. In fact when Black Swan mv dropped, the ballet community was aghast that BlackSwan was trending and has nothing to do with them. The Royal Ballet of London even tweeted among others - "forget about BTS, watch our performances instead blah blah" implying that BTS' is low class inferior while theirs is THE type of performance people should watch. They get called out for their elitism and shading BTS. KARMA also proved herself to be ARMY yet again all of The Royal Ballet's performances has to be cancelled because of covid.

People can think what they want so if they say Jimin is the black swan then that is fine. However I think that simplicity muddies the meaning of the song.
A black swan is a sudden intense event typically with unforeseen and frequently negative consequences. Does Jimin's sudden show of wings in the music video point to Jimin being an actual theatrical black swan on stage? Or is the way the wings are presented meant to reflect the suddenness and strength of the Black Swan event? The lyrics declare a Jungian individuation will be the answer to the loss of emotional connection to the ongoing process of feeling goal directed satisfaction that creeping doubts have caused. Yet we ultimately see Jimin via dance reflecting struggle writhing on the stage. Jung finds subconscious Shadow elements leaking into consciousness to be a dissonant and often painful experience. I think to understand the song it is valuable to note how in the mv there is a difference between the shadows in the song's opening bars and then a very different shadow scene at the end as individuated Jungkook exits the fray walking away toward a newly created normal.
