Hi Logon THANKS to all of you that took part. So Different but all AMAZING in there own personal way. Which made for such entertainment. Honestly so FAR the best RC CHALLENGE I've watched. BRILLIANT just BRILLIANT 🇬🇧🇺🇲🇨🇦🕊️✌🏼🤙🏼👍🏼 THANKYOU
Matt I like the genre on this one. It also shows your enthusiasm a bit. My opinion, its another option in your tool box you can use with good results. And it shows off your talents to others who might be watching. Cheers dude.
If that's the trail and cliff I'm thinking of. We had a guy accidentally back his truck right off it. managed to survive with only a bunch of broken rod ends, bent beadlock ring and the body was bent up pretty good. It's a fantastic trail though.
I saw this truck and liked it immediately so I tuned into Amazon which I do everyday and bought one, it was highly anticipated and when it finally got here I was ready to get it outside to try it out. I opened the box removed the truck and started to install the batteries that came with it in the transmitter and thats when I noticed it both battery terminals were facing the same way ie: both springs were at the bottom of the grip while the terminals are on top I thought that was a little strange I'd never seen that before but I figure Axial knows what they're doing. I closed the cover and hit the switch and nothing, absolutely nothing it didn't light up chirp or do anything else to make me think its coming to life I reconfigured the batteries in impossible positions knowing full well that could never work and still nothing. The car sat there all lit up and ready to climb some rocks but unfortunately we both sat there looking disappointed and sad. Oh well I said to myself I can return this one because Amazon could care less about returns and order another one which is what I did which surprisingly would get to my home the next day which it did. This time I went for the radio first to make sure it worked...it did not. This remote too didn't light up chirp or give me any other sign that it would work, another dud. Now I'm pissed so I did something I usually don't do and put back on my cloths and went back out to drop them off at UPS so now I'm waiting for my money to be credited to my account, I've got the money back on one so I'm waiting for the other funds to be put back in to my account. I'm boring you with this because I need closure, what happened is this normal? did I do something wrong why didn't two transmitters which looked brand new work? I'm itching to buy it again but from Axial this time but what if it happens again what if I get another transmitter that doesn't work Ax isn't so benevolent as far as returns of opened boxes are concerned so there would be issues to be addressed should something go wrong...again. You are obviously a learned man and know RC''s could you please advise. I like your style, your video's are entertaining and informative and you remind me of Charlie Day from that hit show "Its alway's sunny in Philly" I guess you've heard this before but anyway if you could shed some light on my dilemma I'm tempted to but it again, it happens in three's everything does. Thanks I will continue to be a fan and be sure to 'like' your video's in the future I'm already subscribed, cheers.
Page six of the manual shows exactly how to install the batteries. If it’s still not working, you might just be unlucky. Sorry! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for next time.
@@scalebuildersguild Thanks for getting back to me I went ahead an ordered another one and this time I noticed (my vision isn't what it used to be). that I should put the batteries in the conventional way two up and two down and whaddayaknow it worked never seen that before but oh well least its working. Thanks again and I enjoy your videos, oh yeah I ordered the Redcat Gen8 you had me all into the G9 but when I saw the little piece that broke on yours (I know the weather has a lot to do with plastics breaking in cold weather) it turned me off of it and I got the G8 it should be hear next week. The good thing about that is that I ordered it from Amazon I can send it back and get the G9 if I want to so its okay thanks again.
Remember’s me my ECX Temper Gen2. With added weight, modded tires, beadlocks, metal driveshaft and 1080 esc it was a beast… At the end, i built my own Capra… Hoping a matchup beetween those two 1/18 in near futur!
Really enjoyed the video!👍 Don't worry about the wheel/tire combo, pretty much all of us with mini rigs are running 1.9. A lot different than the TRX4m but good to have another option. It won't take much tweaking to get it running well. As for the motor/esc combo, I think plenty of us will be upgrading as we add options, especially heavy brass upgrades. Despite moanings, I think this will prove to be a competent crawler 💯
My biggest misgivings with the UTB18 is the size. Most minis are small enough that they are suitable indoors but still big enough for outside. I think you will struggle to find enough room inside the house with this rig and I think that makes it less versatile than the TRX4m. That and the PRICE! For me, I will probably go the Traxxas route.
As someone who wheels full scale and crawls a lot, I prefer the low centre of gravity with bigger tires so I was happy when you pointed out it seems too tall
I really enjoyed this style of running video. I'd love to see your more typical bench review, AND a video like this, for any new products. Double the videos, double the fun! Sorry I just doubled your workload! 😉
got my 2yr oldnephew a utb18 he has had walmart things and he loves coming out with us so bought him one foor xmas he loves it so much think i may buy myself one lol..i do have a 10th scale and love it
Nice.. I just got the 4 wheel steer Capra a few weeks ago. Have not done any upgrades yet not sure where I want to start. I like this style of videos keep doing them.
Your video confirms I ordered the right livery graphics. Thanks for the UL list of upgrades. I already know now what to immediately upgrade and what to wait for from Injora. C'mon Amain, I'm waiting.
I picked up my gray one today too. The extra parts you got don't seem to be widely available. Horizon Hobby's site shows them as unavailable til December. I'd love to get my hands on them. You gave me an idea too. I had decided not to order wheels or tires yet, but when you put 1.9's on it, I dug out a set of unused Treal 1.9's (nice 'n heavy) and some 4.2" GMade 1901's I had laying around and put them together and installed them on it. It sure looks neat! Kinda like when you put 2.2's on the 1/10 Capra. I had removed the lower shock caps on this like I did on my 1/10 Capra and it lowered it about a half inch, but it also settles it down so much that the shock is almost fully compressed... so that may not work. I might put 'em back on and do a pin spring mod on these shocks like I did on my 1/10... maybe even cut the pen spring down a bit. I'd love to know what the stock shock oil weight is. Great video, btw! I love that kind of video... narration while watching a nice crawling or driving (or bashing) session. :)
Nice video! I ordered the steering links and brass hexes when I pre-ordered the truck from Tower Hobbies. I got the truck yesterday but have to wait until December for the hopups. I love the truck so far, its different experience then SCX24 sized RCs for sure.

I like these type of videos, but like your norm as well maybe a mix of both. I'd sure like to see some of those on your shelf out in the wild!!! I know weather does play a part in your filming though ok outside.
love this thing personally because my big 1/10 and 1/6 trucks just conquer everything in my woods too easily lol. And they require more work to get good challenging trails built for them. I've had scx24s and trx4ms and they are cool but just a bit too small to get over sticks etc and have to make trails specifically for their scale and keep them groomed. the capra utb18 is like the perfect middle ground. On my pile of broken concrete it can hit some INSANE lines that 1/10 is too big/wide for and 1/18-24th would never even dream of. So my whole woods are full of opportunities to have fun with the capra without spending hours building trails specific for it. Basically you can just plop it down anywhere and find some awesome lines to hit
I played with one at my local hobby shop last night. I was blown away by the shocks for an rtr. I did think the esc was garbage no slow crawl whatsoever. But all and all was amazed by it. I do think it's a little over priced.
I'm really considering one of these and seeing about fitting a side by side body on it. I think it'd fit in well with 10th scales with a body like that
Solid little rig, agreed that the price is a bit more than you'd expect for a 1/18th particularly if you compare to Traxxas' TRX4M. Love this style of video too, would definitely like to see more like this!
@@jasonbecker4997 I don’t know, axial has a lot more quality control problems than traxxas seems to. I do plan on getting one of the traxxas ones, but after seeing the vids and info on this certainly not. I have the 1/10 Capra already and this one isn’t looking too good.
Great running video and commentary Matt. I know it’s water under the bridge but I wished you reviewed it as box stock as that’s the way consumers are gonna get it. Still liked the video.🤘🏻
I got the kit later than everyone else, so we decided to upgrade everything so that I could offer something other than just the review. There are plenty of other review videos out there from other people. Thanks for watching!
Great video. I think these videos are good. Chatting, driving All good. Not sure if I'd buy one... but I think there is a market for one. I agree with the pricing.
Every time I add brass to a truck it kills it’s ability to break over the top of those rocks. I believe ultralight with good tires is always the best way to go
Cool little buggy, I was surprised that the 1.9 tires don't look too bad on there. I can see people running 1.9 and then stretching the wheelbase to suit! Then what scale would it be, 1/10 compact?
“Genuinely surprise by its capabilities!” - That right there is the key to happiness: low expectations! 😂 Just kidding. But having REALISTIC expectations also leads to nice surprises. Great driving and loved the new format. Looking forward to more like this. Your slo-mo run videos are always lovely, but sometimes we just need a raw look and your experienced, unfiltered insights. And wasn’t this a great autumn across Canada? But out West we are now in the grips of winter. Been out plowing the sidewalks with my Kyosho Trail King. Won’t see rocks again for a while.
Well, so far this morning I’ve shovelled seven houses worth of sidewalks, and all I have to show for it is a leaky fuel line on my 27 year old Jeep YJ. That thing is so much fun in the snow, but man, tiny trucks are so much more fun to own.🛻🥶⛄️
Jeep is back up and running. New fuel filter and new hose clamps. I’ll say it again, wrenching on tiny trucks in a warm den is more fun than laying under a full-size vehicle at -15°C and smelling like gasoline for two days.
I think this looks cool. But having a 1/10 Capra, a couple other 1/10 crawlers, some wild 1/24 trucks and plan to own a trx4m next Friday… I really don’t see where this would fit in. I might end up getting it because I like the look, but at the same time I don’t know when I would pick it to take out. I honestly think if it was smaller I’d be more interested.
Nice video review. Curious, do you think you could install a longer rod end on the links in order to achieve a little longer wheelbase? This mini rig looks like a lot of fun ... after a few mild tweaks here n there. 🤙
Hi Matt, great video, I'm liking this more and more. How much have you spent on upgrades approx. I'm seriously considering picking one up, in the fox livery. Thanks for sharing, nice format. John
I like this style of video, it would be good to know how much the upgrades cost on top of the original purchase price, but the small scale is still not for me.
Mini Capra suffer from the same weakness of all small scale crawlers is the weight, is a small crawler the weight can damage the performance, still possible and depend on the person you can take out the real monster inside the Mini Capra
It’s easy to see why the TRX4 M is $100 cheaper, it’s pretty basic. Bushings and plastic galore. The Capra has the size, portals, bearings, servo, and lights stock. But, I will have both trucks for different terrain.
@Davemike27 I don’t think so… Traxxas has a gigantic base and understands that base. Produce a product at a “reasonable” cost and we’ll eat it up. My TRX4M with equal upgrades will cost nearly the same (Capra) with half the performance.
Would love to see a behind the scenes video on how you film running videos. Do you use the camera or phone on a gimbal held low to the ground on a stick?
What a great crawling spot Matt! Do you mind revealing whereabouts this is (I also live in Toronto). I have the 10th scale Capra and still on the fence whether to get the UTB18. Do you think Axial will release a 4WS version?
Always my favorite video!!! It's always fun to watch. I have a question, are you thinking of lowering the ride height by adjusting the shocks? I'm also curious how.
It's sitting pretty level with the links which is how I like it. I probably won't try going much lower, but if you wanted to, you could try removing the bump stops from the shocks. Thanks for watching!
To anyone thinking about getting a rear link riser for this, don't. Unless you want the look of it, it doesn't change anything and it money that could be used on better upgrades. If you do want it, look online first, don't just go buy the axial one because you can find cooler ones for half the price
I have a capra 1.9 capra utb 18 trx4m 18 and scx 24. I think the 4m is way closer in size and performance to the scx 24s. Take a utb18 with upgrades for the price of aa 10th scale rtr and you could out crawl tons of them. Pick out a few hundred in upgrades for a 4m and tell me how it's going to compete with the utb18 with tires and a little front end weight
Solid run Matt! I enjoyed this format, very laid back feeling and genuine. Yet still color graded with beautiful cinematic styling. I liked it!
Thanks Logan! Probably a close mimic to what you do in your videos!

Thanks! All of the upgrades shown would cost about $135 USD, but they're not all necessary to make it a great crawler. Thanks for watching!
More of this videos please.
I like this style of video, it would be good to know how much the upgrades cost on top of the original purchase price, but the small scale is still not for me.
I LOVE those bead locks !!!!!!!! Where can I get some ??????
The rings are from LockedUpRc. Thanks for watching!
Mini Capra suffer from the same weakness of all small scale crawlers is the weight, is a small crawler the weight can damage the performance, still possible and depend on the person you can take out the real monster inside the Mini Capra
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Awesome coverage. 💯 Better after the upgrades.
I use my camera with a gimbal held low. Not a bad idea, but then I'd probably need anther person filming me filming!
What a great crawling spot Matt! Do you mind revealing whereabouts this is (I also live in Toronto). I have the 10th scale Capra and still on the fence whether to get the UTB18. Do you think Axial will release a 4WS version?
It’s Rattlesnake Point! Time will only tell re:Axial!
This is my first time hearing of it!
Def need more trailing videos
That front shot really made me think the axles will fit nicely under a tf2 marlin body..
This was awesome! But for 250 is ehh. However I am trying to sell off my temper hopefully maybe this could replace it?
Always my favorite video!!!
It's always fun to watch.
I have a question, are you thinking of lowering the ride height by adjusting the shocks?
I'm also curious how.
It's sitting pretty level with the links which is how I like it. I probably won't try going much lower, but if you wanted to, you could try removing the bump stops from the shocks. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for your valuable reply. Have a lively day.
Was it a little windy out there?
Nice video. I like this better than a cinematic run video.
Lil Truggie looks Solid great vid!!!❤️🔥👊
Thanks!
Fine Matt, you sold me. I'm going to run my truck tomorrow.
Are you going to do a video of the upgrades you put into this rig?
I list them all in the description of the video.
I couldn’t be-leaf you made it up that first climb lol
😂
Love the look of those wheels and tires. Definitely doesn't look toy grade now.
I agree!
Great video Matt!
Thanks!
Looks like it needs softer foams to improve the grip because of how light it is
For sure, something I'll be looking into!
Nice Video! Do you think the temperature effected the tires grip much?
No, I just think the tire and foam combo was too firm!
Great video ! Are you still using the hollyland lark m1 for your microphone ?
Sure am! It’s such a great addition to my arsenal!
Sounds great ! I bought one cause of your first video on it ! thank you for all the great content.
To anyone thinking about getting a rear link riser for this, don't. Unless you want the look of it, it doesn't change anything and it money that could be used on better upgrades. If you do want it, look online first, don't just go buy the axial one because you can find cooler ones for half the price
Fair enough. Thanks for watching!
They're totally different scales, so yes, the UTB will always outperform. Thanks for watching!
