    Although I do appreciate the effort put into the restoration it is important to get basics right. Safety first. A cover for the fan belt would be great. Basics of bearing installation would help too. And using terminal blocks would be best for electrical connections.

    I've watched a few of these videos involving compressors and whilst they look great when finished, there are a few issues...
    Not one of them has shown any testing of the reservoir cylinder. How do they know what the inside of the cylinder is like? Looking at the state of the outsides covered in corrosion etc, what is the inside like?
    These cylinders are pressurised, corrosion and small cracks could be very very dangerous, you would not want to be anywhere near one if it ruptures.
    Then there's the painting, 1 or 2 coats of paint is not going to last more than a few months of use.

    Good day, nice colors used, but in the future please test all pressure vessel tanks called "hydro testing" as this could save your life or someone you know, as these tanks under 120-150 psi when they explode they definitely kill people and we don't want that to happen to you.
    Good luck with future rebuild and keep in mind safety first so you can rebuild many more awesome projects.

    Te dou uma dica, se pela mangueira de ar sair óleo, na saida de ar do reservatório introduzi um cano de cobre até o centro interno do botijão, assim ele não pega o óleo das paredes interna, eu consegui resolver assim, catar o ar comprimido do centro interno do reservatório de ar. Fica a dica.

      Ya don't need to have a video posted to know if someone is doing something incorrect. In this case reusing a compressor tank that has been supposedly subjected to fire is not safe. Also the heavy handed approach to bearing installation and the use of abrasives on precision surfaces are not good practice.

    Outstanding job you performed, considering you used basic tools only. However, you need to pay more attention to masking things off in the future, also, you can save your teflon thread tape, you only need to wrap it around the thread one and a half times to make it seal properly and always in the direction you will be threading it in. You need to retighten the belt after a few hours of use because it will stretch a little and you don't want too much slack in it, make it real tight. Please find a way to cover the opening to the crank case or it will contaminate the oil and possibly destroy the compressor. It would be a shame to see all your hard work go to waste. I'm a retired master mechanic so I know what I am talking about. Keep up the great work and always learn to improve your work in the future.

    • @markbradfield219
      @markbradfield219 5 лет назад

      You don't want it that tight, v-belts have a wide working range, they are designed to grab even loose as long as they are not slipping. Some people think they know everything! www.ibtinc.com/how-to-tension-a-v-belt/

    • @kazykamakaze131
      @kazykamakaze131 5 лет назад +1

      I won't say you are a master mechanic if you don't know about how v belts work and the friction required to turn a wheel, only need tightening when belts slip or squeak especially at the low RPM's air compressors turn over so you don't want to over tighten as this will deform the belt and cause premature wear and tear(see cracking in belts especially automotive application as those belts are tight since they run at high speeds and tight tolerances). Would like to add that it's generally best practice to wrap 3 times and this is coming from plumbers as the thread tape works both as a "lubricant" and a sealant, so as long as there isn't too much teflon then the more the better.
      Sure he can mask more off for painting but what you all failed to take into account is he used the wrong paint as those air pumps get extremely hot and would cook most paints off, he should have used engine enamel paint as to have a better paint temperature durability range.
      Also you point all these things out but didn't mention the most blatant problem of them all, which is the tank was never hydro tested to 2-3 times working pressure and is the most important thing that was skipped in this rebuild as most 3rd world countries don't have the safety education to teach what happens to pressure vessels that fail. This size air compressor tank under 120-150 PSI can and will kill you when it fails.
      So next time rather than pointing everything out and criticizing and thinking you are a "master mechanic" just realize you also have a lot to learn still and no one is ever truly an expert that knows everything.

    • @bobferranti5222
      @bobferranti5222 5 лет назад

      @@kazykamakaze131 proper adjustment is no more than a half inch of deflection in the belt, don't be a asshole and make a comment like you did if you really don't know what you're talking about. V belts stretch after a short period of use and should always be re-adjusted after a break in period.

    Dont paint - gasket surfaces, fitting threads, bearing surfaces and internal surface of crankcase. Oil dissolve paint and contaminated oil can damage bearing, piston rings and cylinder walls . Also dont paint cooling ribs. Two layers of paint primer and color prevent proper cooling because it act like a insulation.

      Tanks start leaking at the weakest point, they won't explode that easily. Most of the time in the bottom of a tank where they collected rust from the inside.

      Two things need to happen to blow up a tank
      1. Pressure release valve has to be stuck or not working properly.
      2.The electric pressure switch (what gives the motor power) has to malfunction.
      you need both of them to malfunction at the same time.
      3? you need a dumb ass that thinks he needs 150 or more PSI in fact you don't need more then 125 PSI I keep mine at 95 to 110 PSI and my blow off valve is set to 135 and I test it regularly...

      @@michaelvw11 true, but that tank had been through a fire, and that could change things. better to test it and know it's good

    this video is for fun and show .from the beginning : you have to clean dust and degrease before dismantling everything - then remove electric parts and cables
    the wrong way you hold the wrenches. -the flat parts (where the gaskets go) should not be scratched with grinder/steel brush ,just cleaned with abrasive compound and never painted!
    Never paint finned parts on cylinders/ compressor head - never paint the main motor. These surfaces were conceived for cooling, so any paint coat is like wear three shirts in summer Welding with rod electrode on the reservoir bottle is dangerous, can weaken the steel mantle, better with the MIG or wire soldering equipment

      @@ГригорийГригорьев-с3э надо ему (автору) отдать должное: ремень он всё-таки поставил.
      Но насчёт защиты: а зачем?!! Не по фен-шую будет. Как же тогда применять этот фен-шуй в изначальном смысле: искусство обустройства гробниц. Их там много, риса мало... А на защиту это ж какой кусок железки нужно перевести! А уж краски из баллончиков! Просто дикий ужас!
      Так что тупой и простой естественный отбор: кто спокойный, конечности и одежду никуда не пихает, приключения на жизнь не ищет, тот цветёт и процветает. А остальные - отсеваются

      @@Валерий-л9й6ц тут двоякое чувство. Вроде да, не камильфо, но: ГБЦ там чугунная, а в их влажности (не знаю что это: Тайланд, Вьетнам) ржавеет даже серый чугун, который у нас не ржавеет никогда. Может годами на улице валяться, потом взял металлической щёткой протёр и снова новый. У них там не проходит. Посмотрите, как все изначально заржавело. С другой стороны: греющуюся до 120°С деталь (посмотрел в паспорте на пром компрессор) красить ОБЫКНОВЕННОЙ КРАСКОЙ ИЗ БАЛЛОНЧИКА! Не термостойкой (для глушителей) а простым дерьмом, которое уже при 150-180 начинает гореть. Блин, я уже после этого в осадок выпал...
      А уж как он профессионально подшипники устанавливал!!! Я реально, чуть чаем тогда не подавился.
      Что-то есть там такое на Востоке, отчего эти ребята такое непотребство творят. Далеко ходить не нужно, сходите на стройку и посмотрите что эти джумшуты вытворяют. На 19 этаже, без страховки, ограждения для балконов ставят. А кто подскользнись, или давление от чая скаканет?!. Видимо вместе со строительным мусором и закопают... А уж как они тротуарную плитку УШМ (в простонародье - болгарка) с алмазным диском на 300 мм пилят - вообще песня!!! Ногой встануй на камень и пил идет не от себя, а, наоборот к себе, а на ногах вместо ботинок "правоверные" тапочки
