    One more tip, to remove the front of the cluster, make sure that you stick a thinner piece of plastic on the top retainer so that it can push down on the retainer and allow you to free it up, that way you don’t break it.

    One tip. The cluster connector may be very brittle and crack. So make sure to pull it enough so that you can reach from underneath and use screwdriver to pop the retainer. If you do it from the side, you may crack it, as I did. instead, I found that you can pull it enough, to the point that you can reach from underneath it and use a screwdriver to pull/push the locking mechanism

    Thanks!! This video gave me the confidence to order from Venoxy and give it a shot. Two tips: 1) put some painters tape on top of the steer column surround. Scratched mine up a little bit when pull the gauge cluster out. 2) Take a pen apart and use the long hollow shell to get the black retainers out that hold in the factory gauge face. I tried a few different ones, but eventually found one that kind of pinches the retainers together and pushes them through. Made it really easy. Just take your time and go slow. New gauges look great, can’t recommend Venoxy enough.

      Agreed onto the pen. You can also use a small socket, just big enough to pinch the retainers

      Agree a sock would work too. I think the pen shell gives you more to hold onto, but do whatever works best.

    hi there. I followed your instructions to the letter - thank you for the great tutorial. once back in the car and with the engine running I noticed - sadly - oil pressure gauge doesnt register / neither does fuel gauge/ neither does oil temperature - but I can still measure the oil level electronically - and also using the head unit I can still gauge how much fuel is left. Do you have any advice how I can fix these bearing in mind I took your advice and was very careful making sure that all the connections are connected etc. could be a loose connection perhaps on the plug at the back at the unit or does it need completely calibrating - or alternatively have I just wrecked my perfectly good dashboard cluster for aesthetic purposes ? - welcome to any comment thanks

    Do you find any of the turn signal lights are dimmer? I bought a 997 with a custom overlay and i can barely tell when the blinker is on. Im considering replacing it..

    Final tip, use two small spoons together to pull the needles off.

    Great video !! Tedious job.
    But you broke the top middle clip for the front cluster cover. There has to be a better way for the clips you can’t reach on the top part of the cluster

    Followed this guide and did this myself today with new gauge faces from Venoxy. Only got stuck on the little black clips holding in the faces where your method with the screwdriver did not work for me. Worked well to use a small plier and pull in and down though!
    Thank you for this awesome step-by-step! Made a huge difference for me! And the faces from Venoxy are super quality for the price!

      Those black clips are the worst! lol Glad I could help some and thanks for the view!

    I watched a similar video where the poster didn’t disassemble the rest of the cluster to remove the small black cylindrical clips holding the overlay on. He gently pried and wiggled the overlay from underneath and side to side and they simply freed with a ‘pop’.

    • @TylerPotter
      @TylerPotter  Год назад

      That would have saved a lot of time! But I would be worried I couldn't get the new overlay to fit correctly. Thanks for the view!
