    I completely agree with you about the EFI💯
    I was SO in love with the DRZ400 but I don’t want a 1980s carburetor in the 2020s
    Glad you’re enjoying the SM😎

    • @SALTxTHExWOUND
      @SALTxTHExWOUND  2 года назад +4

      Exactly! I think if Suzuki put some new tech on the DRZ it would dominate the sumo world all over again. Or if Honda would come out with a crf300l sumo, Kawi could do a 400 also. The 300 is perfect but the 400 would allow higher cruising speeds at a lower RPM.

    • @keldonator
      @keldonator 2 года назад +2

      I've yet to have any issues with my carb, starts cold or hot no issues. Barely even use the choke. Only reason I want the drz400s to have efi is for better mpg lol. Smoother throttle with carb though so there are definitely trade offs.

    I'm at 800 miles on my klx300sm, my first bike was a ttr 125 10 years ago. I'm in love with it. Recently did a delkavic ss70 and fuel commander, with a 02 delete. I love it, best bike for 2 and from work and just being able to go back to off-road is a plus.

    I went from the Suzuki DR-Z400, Kawasaki KLR-650, Yamaha Tenere 700, Honda 250L, Honda 300L, then ended up with the KLX-300SM. What a fun super light bike, it’s no T7, but as much as I ride, love the fuel savings. I can rip hard on the twisty roads on my KLX-300SM for 80-90 miles and it only cost $4, maybe $5 bucks. If you want some cheap fun, this is the moto to get. For some reason I get better gas mileage on the KLX-300SM vs my Honda 250L and the 300L.

  • @chazlyle41

    My first bike was an XT225 (about 16 years ago when gas was like 1.60 so we didn't even think about mileage haha) and it got about 75-85 mpg for me. Great high school "scooter" commuter! :D

    If you gained mileage with what is considered a performance mod, it must have been pretty choked off. Can't wait to see if you get the air box done and how it goes. Hopefully even more power and a plateau in mpg because damn, that sounds like the perfect bike to ride when the weather allows. My F150 is great. But 25mpg on my best day is simply wallet killing. Great content. Love your mods. And I'm looking for a good deal on one on that Oriental Blue and Ebony combo.

    • @SALTxTHExWOUND
      @SALTxTHExWOUND  2 года назад +1

      Hey man thanks for watching! I actually just bought a 21' Ford Ranger and average around 23-24mpg also in the city and it kills the wallet for sure, I saw gas went up to $4.75 here in Florida today so I'm commuting on the KLX as much as possible! Hope you find one!

    Once you go light, it's hard to go back to heavier bikes... My Husky 701 came with the ContiAttack SM tires and they work great on both street and track, but people say they will be done in a couple thousand miles. Using the same mirrors BTW.

    • @SALTxTHExWOUND
      @SALTxTHExWOUND  2 года назад +1

      I can imagine, especially with a more powerful bike. I thought about giving the Q3+ a try on this bike but I’m not sure I can build up enough heat to keep them grippy on the streets. I think I can get around 2,500-3,000 miles out of the Continentals on my KLX

    I own a 2023 KLX and a 2024 Triumph Scrambler 400X and thI dig my KLX but The Triumph Scrambler is getting 81 mpg is a lot quicker with a lot higher top speed, $5,595 but 50 lbs heavier. I can’t say enough about the Triumph but I will keep and ride the KLR for dirt and switch to knobbiest at the next tire change. They are both amazing bikes however if I could only own one motorcycle then I would pick the Triumph Scrambler 400x

      @@SALTxTHExWOUNDhow about 80? I have to run to albuquerque every once in a while and its only a 3 hour ride which is doable but its 80 the whole way. My little county i tend to stay in and the top speed is about 55 so everyone does 60. So most of the time this bike will be right in the pocket. Would be nice if it could also handle 80mph for 3 hours straight. Getting 50 mpg at 80 if it can do it would be nice because ive been taking thr v6 accord to albuquerque and that bitch gets like 27mpg. I could half my fuel costs if this bike could handle it.

    carbs aren't really the issue. it's the ethanol fuel we're forced to use. I don't know what the situation is in the US but here in Canada I don't think i've ever seen ethanol free fuel available at the pump.
    back in the day the carb was just something you'd tinker with and clean once in a while but nowadays if you don't start a carb'd bike for a week there's a chance the thing wont even start.
