Hey all you supermoto fans! I had to make a video on my 3 biggest gripes on the KLX300sm. Please keep in mind that I’m being very picky here. I really am enjoying this bike and I can’t wait to have more fun on it! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend! ✌🏻😁
@@Anonymous-1___ if it's not a lot of highway miles this would probably be a perfect bike for daily use. Easy maintenance and lightweight. I might get one for the same thing 🙏🏽
Fuel flashing over Odometer fix! Cycle through trip A & B. After a few miles (5~10 miles) it will stop flashing FUEL as often and you can see trip A or B again. Mine pops up around 84 miles, this is what I do on my 22DS to track my mileage (125+- miles). Wish it had a Gal tank. I'm ordering a gear indicator ASAP.
There is no excuse for a bike not to have a fuel gauge these days. With all the current technology, a fuel gauge is actually something most people would find useful
My grom has one, but I use the odometer. I know I can go 100 miles on a gallon. So if I'm 80 miles in, I can go 20 more miles. I really don't know what it would take to run out of gas
Yeah, I got mine and rode it around a bit and the fuel light came on. I was like OK, I'll stop by the gas station. It took 1 gallon. I scratched my head a little bit. Think I might try to find a petcock with a reserve function that will fit instead and unplug the low fuel light. Btw- What bark busters are those?
Ahh is there a way to unplug the low fuel light? If so I'd love to do the same thing. These are trackside bark busters from revzilla. I did a full walk around mod video and have them listed in the description.
@@SALTxTHExWOUND Thanks, I'll check out the vid. I'm not sure what the ultimate solution is for the fuel light, but something has to be done because it is annoying and makes no sense.
I have a 2023 klx 300 duel sport. I'm getting 75 miles before I have to refuel. It's brand new so maybe that will improve. But at 56 miles the fuel light comes on .
That’s strange, are you getting 2 full gallons in? I think my light would come on around 85-90 miles if I remember correctly. I know the most I ever got was 120 miles before I filled up but that was before pushing it pretty close 😅
I found a budget fuel capacity fix for mine. I bought a 3L Camelback hydration pack at a yard sale. I then plumbed a quick disconnect fitting on the gas cap so that I can fuel on the fly. Just like a fighter pilot.
Yeah I did figure that out afterwards, but it comes back on every couple minutes and you have to repeatedly press the trip button. It’s not THAT bad but a bit annoying 😂
Interesting..... I hadn't really thought about it until you started talking about the low fuel warning. I feel your pain. It must be a Kawasaki thing because I have a 2018 ZX10R that has exact same "issue". Of course it has a bigger tank (4.49 gal) which will give me "about" 150 miles but, when the low fuel warning comes on it blocks out the odometer. 🤦🏻♂ Basically I "work around it" by filling up at around 120 miles. I do completely agree that it is a very poor design. Not a complaint at all though. I am always excited, even after owning it for 2 years, to get out and ride..... especially the occasional Track Day. 😎👊 Thanks for sharing and keep yourself safe! 😃👍❤🏍 Randy
Man I appreciate your comment Randy, I honestly had no idea any of their other bikes did that! Very surprised the Zx10r does it also. It must be on the newer model bikes, my 2012 ninja1000 actually had a digital gauge that I loved, same thing with the z125 pro Heather has. It’s definitely a gripe but you learn to work around it for sure. Really appreciate your comment, I hate to say it but I’m glad I’m not alone in the annoyance 😂
Love riding my klx around town, still scared to be on Highway but I’m working my way up to it(new rider). Can I get a link to that gear indicator by chance?
It'll do highway speeds all day, just a matter of getting comfortable with it :) The link to the gear indicator is in my KLX300sm Mods and walk around video
I had 2019 KLX 250s (dual sport) and 2011 D-tracker 250x (basically supermoto trim) all the body work, frame, speedometer still the same like the new KLX 300sm. They don't even bother to change it. Lol My biggest complain about the Speedo its to damn big and doesn't even have fuel gauge or gear indicator.
Where does the green and black wire on the Healtech plug in? I plugged the other connectors on the harness to the speed sensor behind the headlight bucket, not sure where the one wire goes though. Any help???
Great vid. likein that gear indicator you put on. Also have a similar rear view mirror on my Sur Ron and it works /no complaints, are you happy with it on the KLX? The stock rear view mirrors are just atrocious/ha ha. Anyway Lookin at the KLX 300 and had one question related to performance. Not looking for break neck speeds or anything/would def look elsewhere other than a single cylinder setup if that was the case. Wondering about cutting lanes, /its all good in my state; that being said is the "off the line performance" adiquit from a stoplite? Not to cause issues with other cars, not trying to get out ahead of a Porsche or other performance cars but would it be all good taking off with a 200lb rider to get ahead of average passenger cars? Thanks for the vid/informative, -Cheers
Yeah I did eventually figure that part out. The annoying thing is that the FUEL comes right back on after a few miles and have to continuously hit the trip button to keep seeing how many miles you’ve been.
Bc the gear indicator is based off of front wheel speed and once you pop a wheelie and the wheel slows down the bike thinks you’re in 1st gear until you put the wheel back down

It’s so weird bc my 2012 ninja 1000 and Heather’s z125 pro both have excellent fuel gauges, the best I’ve ever seen aside from the old CBR 600’s.
