Commuting On a Motorcycle - KLX300sm

- Hey everyone, I've been wanting to do a video like this for a while because I've been getting a lot of feedback from riders looking to buy a supermoto or the klx300sm. I feel like a lot of riders want smaller bikes like this for commuting and they're honestly great for it, light, nimble, gas sipping, and just a joy to ride. Thank you all for tuning in, have a great weekend! =)

What are the pros and cons for you if you commute on 2 wheels?!
Thanks for watching, have a great weekend! 😄🙌🏻
I commute on a gsxr 1000 really no cons besides what you mentioned like rain and stuff like that but it’s such a comfortable super sport I get to my destination way quicker too lol
Will let you know later. Finally got my bike and going to pick it up next month. When i get it i am going to take my time learning to ride it in a big ass empty parking lot. Once I do that I will commute everyday. Take in the elements. Im in NM. From SoCal. Thats where my bike is for now. But yea man I cant wait to ride my baby. 13' zx6r 636 😁
somebody got a new camera...looks great!
I think for me, I just find it easier to get around and you kind of have fun while doing it. I feel like driving in a car is so much of a chore but riding to get places makes it fun.
Biggest pro = FUN! Especially if you have a desk job. Start and end the day feeling pumped. Biggest con = TIME. Takes extra time to gear up/down and cover/uncover the bike.
❤❤❤
Yes! I failed to mention the time. It definitely adds to the commute, having to gear up and also fill up more often. Thank you for your input! 👍🏻🙌🏻
Really thinking of picking one of these up! Thanks for the video man!
Thanks man! It really is a fun bike!
I got a high-performance electric bike couple years ago, it made me realize i love riding a motor/bike,
I now upgraded to a honda ruckus, my next level will be the Yamaha zuma 125 to match with the ruck for me and my family for fun around town, but after the Yamaha zuma I plan on getting a regular grared bike, i would never ever want only a geared bike in city stop and go, but when i level up next season I honestly want the klx300 sumo, looks like a hell of alot of fun
But i honestly believe, especially for city folk , gotta have a scooter, shifting gears, no matter how second nature, in city is a real chore, i want sit back and relax driving in traffic and stop lights, listen to the music not worrying about stalling or thinking about what gear iam in for what situations, these guys who talk nonsense on scooter riders, they just don't get it, same guys will talk nonsense about your bike, will talk about your clothes, shoes, food, car, music ect..i see a guy laugh at me on my ruckus, and I truly laugh with them if that's all it is!!
I recognize those roads :) making me want to get a bike again
Commuted for 2yrs and 20,000miles on a sportster 1200 and it was fun on the good days and sucked on the rainy days
absolute truth! So much fun when it's really good weather, but those few bad days of heavy rain really make you reconsider haha I actually commuted on an 883 sportster about 9-10 years ago, did a few videos on that bike.
Can you really see anything in that mirror? I might buy one. Great video.
What's the top speed? I feel like I may struggle on a paved road to keep up with traffic?
I wanna say it was over 90mph, check my videos I have a video of me topping it out on the highway
dude sounds like jackson from american dad lmaooooooo
love the bike, i just got a klx 230 today 😁
First of all I'd like to say love the channel I think you do an awesome job with both kinds of videos. Second I can't really chime in on the commute 'cause I have a take home vehicle and my bike riding is for fun. Either way keep up the good work and be safe.
Thank you John! I totally get that, if my work truck was a take home I'd do the same haha
Had my motorcycle for a few weeks now klx
And I’ve found that the gear especially helmet and jacket gloves are a pain in the @ass to lug around alone with a backpack.
Also first day I took it to the store I found somebody trying to steal my bike, or they were messing around with the wires.
That’s the scariest part right there, bikes are so easy to steal!
Gear is annoying at times but fully worth it when you need it 💯👍🏻
Sounds like you have a crime issue where you live.
I commute with a 150cc scooter, and save a lot on gas. But it needs frequent oil changes (500 miles).
Yeah my wife’s Z we change the oil about every 1,000 miles or so also.
I have a 2023 KLX300sm and it turns about 4k rpm at 40mph, 5k at 50, 6k at 60 etc... does it hurt it to hold 5-6k rpm for extended periods?
Not at all, the bike will hold 80mph all day long once it's past the break in period. Congrats on the new bike!
Well. best to not have any wounds that need salting.... lol, your old age is showing w/ the common sense approach that you're
sharing here & ya know what? You're right ! Speed is involved in over 90% of all bike wrecks so I imagine this KLX is kinda good
for keeping speeds down somewhat? I'm actually looking at dual sport below 350cc & this is a top contender in my research.
I like what you've done to this one & I like it having 6 speed transmission. I didn't know Kawasaki offered a super-moto bike
so how does it compare to the regular KLX 300 Dual Sport or is it pretty much the same thing w/ different tires?
The KLX 300 is in my top 3 choices sp thanks for the POV ~ peace
What is the comfortable cruising speed on the freeway? Also does it feel stable on the freeway?
I’d say 70-80mph anything over that you get a lot of wind drag
I'm debating if I should get this bike as a second bike just for fun and to learn to wheelie because I'm scared to try to wheelie on my r6.
I will say it’s a great wheelie machine and you’ll be going much slower. I do them in 2nd gear sitting down at around 25-30mph
Great vid as always Salt.. any chance you can name drop a few of the Insurance companies you use?
Thanks man! I use State Farm, I’ve been with them about 10 years now
@@SALTxTHExWOUND Thank you kindly.
Wow , you have to have your lights on in the day...WOW
What’s your motovlog setup and what editing software do you use?
I need to do a video on this asap! But I’m short it’s a GoPro hero 7 black with a purple panda mic and Sony Vegas pro
@@SALTxTHExWOUND Awesome! A video would be helpful to a lot of us beginner riders. I had mixed feelings about the GoPro8 (still do) but I couldn't find a 7 that wasn't refurbished..
@@HIGHLYMOTO I’ll try to get on that soon! 😁👍🏻
Bikes are more economical
Vehicles are more comfortable
💯 the simple truth haha
Just when I'm debating to ride my motorcycle for the first time in the streets.
It’s really going to depend on your environment and mileage if it’s worth it imo. I have some very dangerous and congested roads that I ride on and that’s the biggest downside for me. I don’t let that stop me, but it’s still always in the back of my mind.
what up bro just wanted to ask how that 300 is? and why you chose that bike? why not get a 450 supermoto? or a drz400? just curious. you are killing it on that bike though😊
Hey man, thank you! I chose the 300 mostly bc it’s much more updated than the DRZ. It’s fuel injected and also has a rpm gauge which I really like. The DRZ has the power but it’s 20+ year old technology. The 300 hits around 100mph which is good enough for me as a second bike 🙌🏻
@@SALTxTHExWOUND what about a 450 supermoto?
@@banditryder4696 way less maintenance on the 300
Dude , I just subscribed. Thanx for the vid I live in hot ass Florida too and I have the same bike! Wuddup.. what city?
Hey thanks bro! We’re close to Tampa, you?
If you mix something that is a fun hobby and your passionate about and make it a daily commuter takes away from the fun of riding if your headed to work in traffic for 8 hours instead of riding for the weekend IMO.
I do agree with that to a degree, if you can only take it a couple of days a week I feel like it’s more fun still going out and riding on the weekends
How you guys doing ?
Doing great! How about you?
I think you hit the mail on the head honestly. You mentioned all the things I would’ve. Also, how do you monetize with that copyrighted song at the end? Just curious.
Thanks man! And that song is actually a no copyright song I found👍🏻
Some people blame Ukraine/Russia. Others blame Biden. I blame the voters.
Same! Gas prices have been going up far before Ukraine/Russia
the votings manipulated.. so you can't blame the voters! they'll control whatever and however they want! it's always been this way...
What gloves are you wearing❓
Jake from State Farm : "Uhh, khaki ??! "
Me podrás ayudar a ponerlos en español y poder decirme cuántos caballos trae la 2023 klx sm y dónde es fabricado el motor xfavor ?
Great video.
🤣
"guys don't text and drive it's dangerous"
^Meanwhiles is passing 35mph speed limit sign while doing 45mph one handed and recording a video
Lmao don’t judge me! 😂🤣
Cries in $200 a mont insurance minimums
What gearing u running
stock front, 39T rear
I think it's important to have life insurance! it's really not that much. I just think if your man enough or responsible enough for a bike and god forbid anything happen bad enough that you get killed.. your not being such a financial burden on your family. it's a responsible thing we all should do in life as adults. but usually don't worry about it until we're a little older.. this changes things!! think about it
Cali is $6 a gallon lol
Jesus! For regular 87?!
Everything in Cali is higher including incomes.
Let’s talk politics with Salt 🧂 😂😂😂😂
lmaoooo noooo
I'm payin like 3 bux a month for the KLX, it's a real wallet breaker. 🤣
Yeah it is stupid cheap! lol
Also I threw knobbies on mine so i can play in the woods a little bit. What I really want though on this thing if i can get it are Anakee wilds as they give you some good traction in dirt and really good traction on road. it's a 50/50. I know a few people that use them on other bikes and from the sounds of it, they seems more like a 60 dirt / 90 road tire. Apparently they are really good tires!
Dude. Why didn't you wear your one piece leather suit?
I wear it when I’m joy riding or at the track 👍🏻
Apple Watch helps communicate while riding.

Hopefully our fearless MAGA leader will come back soon and…. cheap fuel prices will come back as well. Great video! 😎👍🇺🇸
