Prob my next upgrade will be the TV itself.
Shown BIOS version almost always differs from the one on the website. Website shows the upload date while the UEFI shows the actual BIOS version release date when it was made.
the 2600 is a beast for $200. matches the 1800x in single core performance. Although it comes with the stealth cooler so i'll probably opt for the 2600x to get the wraith with it for only $30 more plus improved binning and overclocking
So will I have to go through all the stuff he said or can I just download the latest drivers onto a thumb drive, upload it and get it work without going through all apu swapping stuff?
My apology, I was just hoping to get some clarification on what tech deal guy was talking about concerning the bios for MSI mobo may not boot with the ryzen apu installed and having use an older amd apu first and then changing it out for the new apu.
Eric, If you bios is not at a certain version, it won't even see your're APU and you can't update it because you need some kind of processor to do any kind of processing. You would need a CPU that does work, so you could update the bios for an APU. Some motherboards can be updated using qflashplus without a CPU and ram, but they are not that many that have that. After you would also need a driver for your're APU's function specifically.

Mason Moberly Absolutely, with the cost of GPUs atm they are great for budget builds that can handle some light gaming with the option of a sensible upgrade path in the future.
You left out CSM and secure boot, although that's related to the Windows 10 WHQL support, which are important parts of any BIOS setup and OS install. On some Gigabyte AM4 boards for example, if a user enables secure boot and disables CSM support in the last few BIOS revisions, and has an Nvidia 10 series card, the system then won't post at all. Also, enabling XMP is not advisable on all boards/BIOS versions and people are sometimes better off putting in timings manually if they are going to overclock their RAM, which they should with any Ryzen CPU or APU.

Do you have any suggestions for restoring a PC? I've done it before in the past but that was with servers and DLT & LTO drives. I'm looking for a backup / restore like Apple's Time Machine which is almost like a full point in time restore and it's to easy to use with no issues. Because tape backups for consumers don't exist and I don't want to pay $2k for a drive and a few tapes. Even a mirrored NAS gets expensive in the long run with media files.

Two major things to know....Ryzen APU or CPU works only on a Windows 10 64bit OS. Secondly..... At around 6:50 into the video he fails to mention something important..that is after exiting the bios take out your usb stick and unplug your computer and remove the cpu you put in there to update the bios and install the cpu you bought originally to run your motherboard, otherwise your setting up you computer to run with the older cpu you put in there to fix it and not the one you updated the bios to work with, once you do that then put your usb stick with your windows 10 back in a usb port and plug in you computer and start it up and continue to install windows 10, which by the way must be 64bit cuz a Ryzen APU or CPU well not work with 32bit...........otherwise he has more information then anyone Ive come across yet.....

I went back through the video, but could not find the part where you changed from the temporary processor used to update the BIOS to the new 2200G. It appears as if your processor just magically changed after the BIOS update. So would it be correct to assume that you removed the 1200 and installed the 2200G after you updated the BIOS and before installing windows?

Normally you can go up to 2GB to give to the APU Vega graphics , but my board ( Asrock ab350 pro4 ) allows me to go to even 16 GB !!! i have 16 GB , so i gave it 4GB . First time i saw a board that goes that high , all other video's of other motherboards i saw , it was max 2GB !

which motherboards came out after November 2017 and don't need an older CPU to update the BIOS, apart from the x470 and b450
