My pc won't boot from the USB. When pressing F11, I can see uefi: usb and usb:usb ... If I select usb:usb it says "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot media"... The uefi option does nothing...HELP!!!
Building your own computer is not just something to do to save money, but it is also an experience. It sounds weird when I say it, but it somehow connects you to your computer in a good way. You ordered the parts, you put them in, you did the cable management and in the end you look proudly at your work. My Ryzen system stands on my desk with a window on its side and from time to time I just enjoy looking at it.
I sure hope so some guys on reddit made a prebuilt I saw that look horrendous but was 1200 with some alright specs. But I was overpaying around 300$ and I got myself a better case and a really nice monitor.
Point of advice to all that was not mentioned in the video: When booting from USB to install Windows, DO NOT put your flash drive in a USB 3.0 slot or you'll get the Windows Installer asking you for a driver and not being able to proceed with the install. The reason for this, is that you have not installed your USB 3.0 drivers yet needed by your board for them to function properly! So, to be on the safe side, make sure to do your initial install from a 2.0 port. Hope that saves someone frustration and a headache. =)
@@salierisneighbor9736 Yes, either on the ports on the back of the motherboard. Or the ones that connected to your case io. Typically 3.0 ports will be blue and 2.0 ports will be black.
That would be a rush. My first home build computer was a 386. I've built about a dozen of them over time and usually screw something up in a Homer Simpson moment "DOH!". The key is to never panic, have a second computer connected to the internet for help, and if all else fails walk away to break out of your endless loop thinking. Attack it later with a fresh perspective. One of my first rookie mistakes was a small switch on the power supply that was set to 220 instead of 110 volts. I couldn't figure out why the damn thing didn't turn on. lmao
This was released a year after my first build. Wish I could have traveled to the future and asked my future self how I did it or watched this video. I actually learned a few new things by watching this. Cool stuff.
Is it difficult to build and instal all the neccessary drivers. Im working my arse off to build my first pc and building it and setting it up looks stressful and difficult.
1. Test everything 2:44 2. Bios/uefi settings 7:57 3. Make a windows 10 usb installer 13:09 4. Install windows 15:07 5. Install drivers & configure extra drives 21:28
20:00 DON'T do this. If you do this, you still didn't change the boot order. So if your friend or customer will insert a flash drive later and reboot their PC, it will try to boot from that USB, obviously failing. I had hundreds of problems because of this.
Hey, this is my first time building a gaming pc so I have a question about this. I'm suppose to have the ssd that I'm installing windows 10 to at the top of the boot list?
@@dug1963 you would need a bootable USB, watch a video how to install windows 10 using bootable usb. Basically, since your SSD is empty currently, you download windows 10 on the usb and boot from there, when you get into windows then you can transfer the files to the SSD an use the SSD. Hope this helps Oh and yes I forgot to answer the original question, get into the bios by clicking delete repeatedly, then Change the boot order so your usb is first, which will allow what I said above to happen :)
Thanks Paul for showing this. Many well known PC builders totally forget about the BIOS setup and all the nuances that goes into setting up the PC for it to recognize it's peripherals.
You not only made an informative video for the beginners, noticing and apologizing for this issue most others have ignored, you also added time stamps! You just earned yourself a sub!
Windows makes me sad. If I am paying money for a software license THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANY ADDS OR SPYWARE ON IT. *installs Linux mint* *Re-installs Windows because of games*
I did a long time ago, back in the days of WoW Burning Crusade it ran better under Linux than under Windows (I had low ram, and Windows would just suck it, like a lady of negotiable affection suffering discontinuation syndrome from crack cocaine)
Wine doesnt work for everything. What it does work for isn't always stable. And when it is, it almost always has lower performance than on native windows. Unfortunately, there just isn't enough install base for people to support linux properly, either through wine or through native support.
I mean, you don't HAVE to use Windows to game, there are tons of games with native Linux versions, a lot of games that work just fine with wine and all the emulators you could ask for. Especially for older games there is a good chance that they will run better under Linux than they do under newer versions of Windows. For my gaming needs, Linux is totally fine. Like, I have a ton of games in my Library with native Linux support that I have never touched, because I just don't have the time to play all of them. That said, if you are the kind of gamer who is all about the newest AAA gaming titles, you probably want to have a Windows installation. Although it is totally possible for that Windows installation to run as a guest virtual machine on a Linux host, with hardware pass through. That way you can just run Windows alongside Linux without having to dual boot and with pretty much no loss in performance. Do all your browsing and everyday computing in Linux, fire up Windows when you feel like gaming (or keep it running in the background), best of both worlds. Does require some extra attention when purchasing hardware though (has to support virtualization) and you are going some Linux wizardry to pull it off, it's definitely not beginner friendly. But it can be done.
Just getting ready to build , built a game computer some 15 yrs ago the difference in technology is daunting. Your video helped spur me on with confidence thanks. 79 years old and still love challenges
But before you do any of this, get a new surge protector power bar to protect everything plugged in from power surges, lightning, spikes etc. Power bars do wear out and need to be replaced.
+1000 on this. It amazes me how folks will spend thousands of $ on a new PC and not spend another $25 or so on a new surge protected power strip to protect it....it boggles the mind really...
Lightning is a risk, there are two times when I've experienced this. A couple of years ago lightning struck nearby, it fried our phones. Last year, a similar thing happened, fried the router. It might not be a big risk, but it can happen. However, I've heard that the surge protection doesn't do much in such cases for some reason.
Zed1967 Wouldn’t I just be fine connecting my pc to an outlet that’s in my wall? And also another quick question. I lived in the US but moved to Europe to go to college and I purchased my power supply in the US because it was cheaper. Would I be fine by just connecting the US plug into a connector that transforms from a US outlet into a European outlet? The max wattage on the one I have is about 3000 Watts. I haven’t used it yet I’m building my pc pretty soon. I also purchased just a random European power supply cable on eBay for a few bucks but I’m not sure if that would be 100 percent safe either compared to the power cable that came with my Corsair power supply. Sorry if it’s a lot I just need the question answered. Thank you.
Thanks so much! That really helped as a first time builder, I was worrying a bit about what to do once I had assembled my computer, but this blew away all my worries!
I am a music teacher and am getting round to specing an £800 ish PC build for video editing for my RUclips channel and music production. Not sure what to include other than basing it around some kind of Ryzen CPU. Last PC I built was about 15 years ago. The process seems a little simpler now bat hasn't changed much. There just seems to be much more in terms of component options. I think it will take a while to put my spec together... Any spec suggestions welcome...
You know what's annoying? You can uninstall all of the preinstalled "games" but if you create another account on the machine such as for your kids or someone else in the house who uses the computer all that bullshit shows up again.
The first thing I learnt after building my updated PC last year was as follows. Test your brand new EVGA G2 1000w PSU outside of the case with the bridge connector. Or any PSU. Because the PSU blew on first switch on and took out an SSD in the system. I was very lucky not to have more damage. It tooks weeks to get it RMA'd and was not especially cheap to return. I bought the PSU because my EVGA 980Ti came with a 50% off deal on a PSU. So I went overboard and bought a much higher spec PSU than I had ever before. And it failed.
Pretty much the worst thing was it was the first PC I had built in about 8 years. Going from a 775 based system to an X99. So, while a lot was familiar, a lot had changed. Complete rebuild with Predator 360 cooler (which had to be replaced as I had the V1.0) etc etc. Spent a good afternoon building it all into the Enthoo Primo case, tying everything off and making it tidy. Put it in place, had my face at the back of the case when I flipped the psu switch. It flashed in my face. Blew the fuse in the plug and tripped my mains fuse box. The smell of burnt electronics filled my room. I just sat down in a daze for about 30 seconds. I had no compatible parts to test and I was not about to risk the working 700w psu from the old PC. In case it was a different component that failed. I have to totally dismantle the PC and return the parts I bought from the retailer in person. To be checked. Luckily none of those parts were faulty. Only an SSD that was carried over from the old system. It worked fine previously. Realising it was the PSU and all the new parts otherwise had been tested as working. I bought an EVGA EQ 650W cheap PSU as a run till RMA. At the store. Built it when home and it all worked. RMA the G2 and it was replaced. Annoyingly, when I had the G2 back, I found out that the cables with the EQ and G series are not compatible. So I had to redo all the modular cables. Then in the timeline I had the recall notice about the EKWB 360 Pred... Then to make matters worse, I bought a couple of Sandisk 480 Ultra 2 SSDs and they failed 5 months later completely. Within a week of each other. Seems there was a faulty batch. I've had some very very bad luck with PCs this last year.
nah, a lot of people don't test their hardware before installing it, but this guy's story is a good example why you should. the bridge connection he's referring to is a connection bridging the green wire to a black wire on your 24pin connection of your psu. that will jump start your psu and get the fan to spin. I also like hooking up a case fan or lights to the psu to make sure they come on.
"Hide extensions of known files" , seriously why does Windows **still** default to this on? It is without a doubt in my mind the single number one reason that inexperienced computer users get virii on their machines. The classic "the_kids.jpg.exe" which by default Windows shows as the_kids.jpg
Hi Paul, usb3 I do not recomended, because when Windows 10 creates the flash install drive eliminates format of usb 3 and then after you want to use, system doesn't recognice as USB 3, not even usb 2 in USB 3 ports and has to be formated at low level, and sometimes still not function at USB 3 velocities.
A capture card? what does it look like? how does it work? so, basically I need another PC/laptop to do the recording job? Is that what you mean? Hmmm....I see.
A few things as a technician I like to do as well. Create your Windows 10 Recovery USB stick create a restore point after installing Windows 10 install CCleaner clean the registry. Turn off all background apps. Uninstall bloatware like Xbox apps that come with Windows 10.
A great detailed tutorial Paul. Most other videos on RUclips teaching PC builds just say install Windows 10, hit next for everything, and update your drivers. With your video I know what to exactly do now. Thanks! 👍
one thing I have been doing with my m.2 systems, redirect the folders (download/pictures/docs/music) to the storage drive. This leaves a lot of space open on your ssd, which helps extend it's life
BoyMeows I decided that I wanted to build my own pc about a week ago and I have all the parts coming in now anyways, I’ll be building it sometime over the weekend or next week.
*I NEED HELP WITH HDD SETUP 29:02 Hi, Recently I just finished building my first PC build. I configured the settings in the BIOS and got everything setup the way I wanted it to be. I have a 250 GB SSD as my boot device for Windows 10 and a WD 1TB HDD. Everything was working great! I went into disk management. The SSD(Disk 0) is showing up and the HDD(Disk 1) is shown as well, but the HDD wasn't showing up to where I could use it to store anything on it yet. So, I went ahead and did something to mess something up with it. Now, what is shown is only Disk 0(my SSD) and System Reserve(500 MB). How can I fix to make it show again and initialize it?
If you still need help after 4 months.. check your Bios and see if it even recgonizes your HDD as a drive. If Not, then something is wrong with the connection. If it still isnt showing up, and you have made sure it's plugged in, reflash your bios
chin-yen Liang I sold it to a friend and he was able to initialized it on his pc with no problems, and I bought another one and I was able to initialize it too with no problems. I have no clue what I did to make the first one I bought unusable on my PC lol. Thanks for the help, though. I love PC gaming!
Man you deserve a medal, you saved me I finished building up my PC but didn't know shit about bios at all. The steps are nicely cut from the start to the end and easy to follow great work for real. I thank you with my heart.
First 5 things to do with a new build. 1. Pray it posts. I mean really call upon what ever higher power you believe in that the silicon gods show you favor and the thing starts up. With all new components the odds are something could be bad out of the box and it can be a nightmare tracking it down on a new build. 2. Look at the Bios. Don't go crazy with the bios at first. Start with default settings as much as you can. There will be plenty of time later after you know everything is stable to OC and go crazy. 3. Install OS of choice. For most it will be Windows X or whatever latest version is at the time of build. Be sure to do all updates. 4 Install Anti virus of choice, and all drivers, especially video drivers. Flash Bios if there is an update. 5 Install software *Games and test the machine under load. Up to this point it's had it easy but now it's time to see how it does under some pressure. If you pass all 5 then you can go crazy.
After new build prepare to embark journey to mordor you vs 148 updates 10 different drivers when you finally updated all firmwares and drivers you finally can use pc
pro tip: if you have your steam library on a secondary drive you can simply plug that drive into your new system and copy the archive or just transfer it via ethernet if that's not possible, still obviously faster than downloading this should work with other game launcher libraries as well
I just wanted to say thanks for all of this basic instruction because I am an old newbie (60 years young) and I decided I wanted to build a new computer because the PC I bought is an HP Gaming PC and is so compact that you have to take it all apart to do simple things like upgrade the DDR4 and change the graphics card. I have been watching a lot of RUclips videos to decide on the components. So many videos are extremely technical that newbies like me just hear wahwahwah, wha, wha. Your video was awesome and I thank you for thinking of us. Like Lo Pro said in his comments, this has cleared up a lot of doubt in my mind and I think I can actually carry this to a successful conclusion. Thank you.
Yes, Ethernet is just a solid connection between the router and the PC while some people like me use wireless WiFi which ATM is slower than Ethernet but more convinient. But yes you are good.
Crippling Depression Eh my windows 10 don't have wifi built in. what should i do? It only have ethernet option. i need wifi. already have a WiFi modem here FYi
moon burst u need to buy a wireless card, preferably one u put into the pci express slot. It has Wifi built in etc. There are differemt options, make sure the one u decide on is supported for win 10, just go to manufacturers page and look for drivers..
Windows comes with networking support however it tries to automatically configure itself to the hardware that it "sees". If it doesn't detect the hardware then it won't configure it. It may also detect the hardware but not have the driver. The video demonstrates what to do when that happens. Some PCs have WiFi built in, most have an RJ45 jack as well. RJ45 is like a big telephone ( RJ11) jack and is used for wired Ethernet connections. WiFi ( a.k.a. Wireless Fidelity) is for wireless connections. Wired is typically faster while WiFi is "easier" for the technically challenged among us. If your PC doesn't have built in WiFi then you can either get a WiFi card, open up the box and insert it or you can get a USB WiFi stick and plug it into a USB port. Either way Windows 10 should then hopefully configure itself. If it needs a driver then you need to download it from the manufacturer's web site, put it on a memory stick and then install it, much like what was demonstrated in the video.
Paul taught me how to build my first PC about 10 years ago, back when he was doing his Newegg videos!! Glad he's still going strong and increasing the ranks of the PC Master Race!!
Thanks man, watching this for like the 4th time on my new PC. Without the help of you tech guys I would have never had the balls to do it. Now I can userbenchmark without feeling embarrassed the PC moves faster than my brain.
I tried to use the Windows media creation tool but it wouldn't recognize my USB. Luckily a friend of mine had an ISO image of Windows 10 on his PC and used Rufus to put it on a USB for me. He said it happens a lot with Windows 10. (He works in IT for a major media group.) When I put it in my PC it booted right off the USB without me doing anything. (Gigabyte Z97x Gaming 7) Just wanted to share that in case anyone is having that problem with the download tool too.
As someone who was freaking out as a new PSU fried my SSDs and had to redo my computer, i'm grateful i found this tutorial, straight to the point and thorough.
I had some problems with my ram and cpu cooler, and I was going super slow to not screw it up since I'm clumsy. It was like 9 hours maybe? Including installing windows and drivers. In reality, you should be able to get it done in like 3-4
Well it worked, it was just that I didn't seat the ram correctly. If you have any problems, that's the first place to start. Also, the 212 evo is just a pain to install on your own. I just replaced it with a h110i gtx and that was much easier to install, so it just depends on what you get. If you have someone to help with your cooler, it's a lot easier.
3-4 HOURS? the longest it ever took me was my first build coming from a pre-built office PC and it was only 2 hours including windows install and all software 5 years ago :P
Build my pc on Xmas day and been running into a bunch of issues and this video have helped me so much, I thought my hdd was broken until I watched the end of the video 👌🏼
Hello Paul an everyone else I just built my 1st pc an I having problems with creating the media tool, it will not pick up any flash drive to put the ISO on please help someone!
search "win32diskimager" . This is a software program that everyone uses to write ISO and Image files to USB and SD cards. This will allow you to boot from the USB. You may have to go into BIOS to make sure the computer checks the USBs for a bootable device. Sometimes your computer is set to just look at the hard drives.
Michael Smith thank I actually used another program that forced the ISO on to it. For some reason it wouldn't let me use any memory drive through the normal tool creator, topical windows troubles lol
THANK YOU!!! Was looking at this cannot boot drive screen thinking I did something wrong and tried to fix for two hours with no luck. Watched this turns out it’s actually normal! I’m an idiot! You’re amazing, will never regret subbing Edit: also, you an easily lose the watermark. Just search it and do WikiHow's #1 and #2, then restart computer. (Yes i know. For once they actually HELPED.) Have a nice day everyone!
Also unfucking windows 10 opsec and disabling various meta data collection not mentioned here. Scipt and ad blocking should be added before browsing the net for stuff too.
Cory R don't encourage adblock. the key is to get everyone else to use it while we dont. same with pirating. tell everyone else to go buy it but keep these things to yourself. that way things stay free for us.
Fertho Support the smaller devs with what you can. I never pirate small games as long as it's possible to buy them easily. It's the things like skyrim that I might pirate because devs have made loads of money off it already and I'd rather give what I do have to the smaller devs.
I recommend also installing Windows on your HDD. That way if the version on your SSD becomes corrupt, you can boot from your hard drive and get whatever you need to recover your SSD.
What was that link to download all apps in one go? I remember hearing about it a while back but never looked into it. Since I'm building another pc again it will help tons.
Lyralei Windranger I don't know a single hacker that uses Ubuntu lmfao. I hate Ubuntu and Kali, debian was okay. I personally like Arch Linux but most hackers I know use NetBSD, since it's more secure and only a small community of Hackers use it
Due to the way Windows 10 activates w/digital entitlement, I'd prefer it on Kinguin. I've heard from a few people who purchased older versions and had activation problems.
I bought a Win 10 Pro key from Kinguin, and it doesn't work, says it's already been used on another pc. They won't answer my emails or support ticket either, so that was a waste of $30
Andrew Wukusick I got lucky when I bought a key from Kinguin for my PC in January, but when I bought a key for my friend's first pc, the same unfortunate thing happened to us. We split the loss ($15 each), since it was my idea to use Kinguin, but we will never use that grey market site (or G2A for that matter) again and will recommend others avoid it as well.
A nice reminder of what to do. Since I can not start my build till tomorrow, I will download all the drivers today and put them on a USB drive, plus, I always partition and format my drives outside of the computer because I can.
Admiral Ackbar I spent $550 on my 1060 in Canada (although it was gtx Strix and if I'd wait could have saved $100) but point is that I know your pain here in the great white north
When you install windows you can click now to pay for it immediately and it'll give you like a trial for around 2 weeks. It's what I'm on currently, but at the due date windows will kick you off of their os until you finally get a product key.

Just about to start my first build so glad u have done this video I will be,building it on my channel so fingers crossed I’ll get it working and I’ll be thanking u if it does lol
Not all motherboards have a boot option like that on startup but many do, and the key that's used can vary. Usually you'll see a splash screen right after you power on with the motherboard manufacturer's logo and the boot interrupt keys listed, usually at the bottom of the screen - Del for BIOS/UEFI, F11 for Boot Options etc.
I'm building a new pic later this month, and I was wondering- can't I just plug in my current HDD with Win10 and all my files and boot from there? Then get my drivers etc? Thx
*Question!* _So connecting to your Monitor (or TV via HDMI), Keyboard and Mouse does not need "drivers" even when having a _*_newly custom built PC_*_ right?_ _Because I'll be connecting my PC to my TV via HDMI and I've read about it that drivers are needed etc. and it made me confused... Late response sorry If you haven't figured it out by now (you've had 3 months) they will work fine but before you do any serious gaming you will want to install the drivers for your mouse, keyboard, and graphics card. The drivers often are in software that allow you to tweak and optimize settings on your hardware, but this is not always the case, so don't freak out if it's not there. It will usually say. If you don't have a graphics card (if you are using a motherboard with integrated graphics or using an APU (Accelerated Processing Unit. Basically an graphics card/CPU combo) you still need drivers. If your motherboard has integrated graphics and you are using an Intel CPU (i3, i5, i7, i9, Celeron, or Pentium. But who still uses Pentium?) it is more than likely you have Intel graphics, and you need to go download the drivers for it. With an APU, since it's AMD specific, go to their website and find the right driver. If you don't remember what you got, or it is too technical, check your BIOS, as more often then not it will give you a name or a model number you can google. Video displays don't need drivers, but be sure you are using the best cable option (for example use HDMI over VGA) that is supported on your motherboard AND your display device. It is no use having a HDMI to VGA adapter as you lose all of the advantages each one offers. Let me know if you need to know anything else, I will be happy to help. Reddit has great PC communities such as www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/ to help get PC users acquainted with their machines. This is a late comment, but you were speaking as you haven't built your PC yet. www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/ Is a great way to find better choices, or even choose full builds if you are completely lost. Remember *_YOUR PC WILL LAST YOU A WHILE. BE SURE IT IS EXACTLY LIKE YOU WANT IT_*
I'm building my PC tomorrow, so a response would be wonderful. If I have both my drives plugged in when I go to install windows, will I be given the option to choose where I install the OS? Thanks!
you instal the oem to the better drive you have, if its ssd then for ssd, if they both hdd then check their rpm, install it into the one that has more rpm, most commonly you have ssd + hdd (if this way you install oem&programs&games on the ssd, store videos and music files on the hdd)
Wait so what was the point of 5? I understood the point of the internet connection but what about the other stuff? What does that Help with? Sorry this would be my first build.
For some motherboards (although it is becoming less common all the time) even the network adapter needs separate drivers for the network connection. And assuming you do not want overclocking, sometimes the auto settings for memory are incorrect and you need to override them to get what you have paid for.
You need drivers for all your hardware to work, like graphic card, sound card, video card, keyboards, mouse, etc. Windows 10 can provide you with default drivers, which works in most cases. But in some cases, they are outdated or doesn't work at all. For example, Windows 10 can provide you with out-of-date Nvidia graphic card drivers. So, you will need to install your graphic card drivers from Nvidia's website, or install GeForce Experience, which can detect and easily update your graphic card.
10,000 subscribers without any videos!!! You need a chipset driver, sound driver and the Intel management engine to make sure those respective hardware are working because as he describe, windows 10 installer still doesn’t have all the essentials it needs to talk to those external peripherals and stuff
Most laptops have OEM keys which cannot be used more than once so if u have a laptop u need to buy a new key but if u built (if it's prebuilt u cannot it should be built by u) a pc and bought a windows 10 key write down that key in the new pc and it should work unless u bought a OEM key.
Biała Panda Hey dude, it depends. If you bought laptop and it came with windows set up. The answers no, but if you put in the product key yourself, yes you can.
Could be a problem with either the ports or the stick. Use a know good memory stick then try it in each port. If it isn't showing up in the BIOS/UEFI screens after trying all of your ports then you are out of luck. Either the stick is dead or your ports are.
It's taking for ever stuck loading in a splash screen after installation was done and restarted ..... Idk if I'm suppose to take out the USB yet or not been 3 hours
Thank you so much for your videos! I have Mac now but out of curiosity, pride, knowledge, fixing a PC, gaming, and building a new pc from scratch, I am really interested and thinking of building a PC for myself. These videos have already been helpful!
I built my first pc not that long ago... it took me a month of paranoid planning and researching compatibility to buy the components, and a week after that to finish building it. It took so long because I didn’t really know what I was doing, so I simultaneously watched tutorials on how to put the components in while doing it in my computer. I was so worried when putting the CPU cooler in, because no matter how hard I tried, the screws wouldn’t grab onto the motherboard threads. I started pushing down on it desperately to try and get it screwed in, and about 30 minutes later I finally did. I was worried the rest of the building process that I had ruined my processor. I also has school, so I spent about an hour on my computer a day. Finally, when everything else was assembled, I pressed the power button and prayed it would turn on. It didn’t. Luckily, before I got a heart attack, I remembered I had forgotten to switch the PSU switch back to the “on” position. I tried again and it booted up. I don’t think I’ll ever forget how happy I felt. As many headaches as that experience gave me, I loved every second of it, and I can’t wait to do it again.
TheLivingCat 02 RAID (redundant array of independant disks) this is used as a way to dipurse files and data across more than one drive to help with general speed and increased storage depending on what comfiguration of RAID you use: i hoped this helped

Fabian Schulz this was a very nice comment to read thank you good sir
I sure hope so some guys on reddit made a prebuilt I saw that look horrendous but was 1200 with some alright specs. But I was overpaying around 300$ and I got myself a better case and a really nice monitor.

Point of advice to all that was not mentioned in the video:
When booting from USB to install Windows, DO NOT put your flash drive in a USB 3.0 slot or you'll get the Windows Installer asking you for a driver and not being able to proceed with the install.
The reason for this, is that you have not installed your USB 3.0 drivers yet needed by your board for them to function properly!
So, to be on the safe side, make sure to do your initial install from a 2.0 port.
Hope that saves someone frustration and a headache. =)
was just about to install windows once i got my processor, thanks man!
Dave S. What if you only have usb 3.0
@@salierisneighbor9736
Plug it into a USB 2.0 port and it'll operate as a 2.0 drive.
psedog you mean on the motherboard?
@@salierisneighbor9736
Yes, either on the ports on the back of the motherboard. Or the ones that connected to your case io.
Typically 3.0 ports will be blue and 2.0 ports will be black.

- Almost forgot to download my ram
Right? I totally didn't expect that, and had like 5 "how to troubleshoot your new PC build" videos on hand. And then it just worked. q(^-^q)
I couldn't figure out why the damn thing didn't turn on. lmao

Hope this helps
Oh and yes I forgot to answer the original question, get into the bios by clicking delete repeatedly, then Change the boot order so your usb is first, which will allow what I said above to happen :)

Windows makes me sad. If I am paying money for a software license THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANY ADDS OR SPYWARE ON IT.
*installs Linux mint*
*Re-installs Windows because of games*
have you tried Wine or something similar? i heard it works for a decent amount of windows games but never took the time to personally attempt it
I did a long time ago, back in the days of WoW Burning Crusade it ran better under Linux than under Windows (I had low ram, and Windows would just suck it, like a lady of negotiable affection suffering discontinuation syndrome from crack cocaine)
Wine doesnt work for everything. What it does work for isn't always stable. And when it is, it almost always has lower performance than on native windows. Unfortunately, there just isn't enough install base for people to support linux properly, either through wine or through native support.
That's the sad part. You have to use Windows for games.

Eryk Grabkowski ur comment x100
Good sir, you saved me money!!!
Thank you.

@@MinistryOfMagic_DoM HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE is your friend ;)
If you want to decrapify Windows, you gotta do it from inside out.
And it failed.
damn that's crazy, but yeah everyone should breadboard before installing in case.
I've had some very very bad luck with PCs this last year.
yikes! that's a nightmare story. I've done 4 builds and thank God I've never had a problem.
Is it bad that I've done some learning about tech stuff and ordered all my parts for my first build, but don't know what a bridge connector is...?
nah, a lot of people don't test their hardware before installing it, but this guy's story is a good example why you should. the bridge connection he's referring to is a connection bridging the green wire to a black wire on your 24pin connection of your psu. that will jump start your psu and get the fan to spin.

With what did you record all the BIOS setting without even have the Windows been installed yet?
a capture card?
a capture card from another system(computer) i guess, just like recording stuff from a ps4/xb1
A capture card? what does it look like? how does it work? so, basically I need another PC/laptop to do the recording job? Is that what you mean? Hmmm....I see.
depends on what capture card, some of them require another PC, some don't
Some of them have recording storage inside? Ok, sounds expensive.

*I NEED HELP WITH HDD SETUP 29:02
Hi,
Recently I just finished building my first PC build.

Don't really need to install an antivirus if you have Windows 10 though - Windows Defender

You don't even have to reinstall windows, if ASAP usage is your end goal...
Thank you.
Just want to say, your shirt inspired my father-in-laws birthday gift! Coolest LotR shirt I've seen in a while!
i didnt even know wtf to do after finishing my build.
Thankyou so much.
Can i use ethernet for the internet access ? (i'm new to this, pls go easy on me )
Yes, Ethernet is just a solid connection between the router and the PC while some people like me use wireless WiFi which ATM is slower than Ethernet but more convinient.
Mike yes and I like ur dog

I tried to use the Windows media creation tool but it wouldn't recognize my USB. Luckily a friend of mine had an ISO image of Windows 10 on his PC and used Rufus to put it on a USB for me. Marshmallow M80 how long did it take you to build? I almost have all the parts for my pc build and was just wondering.
I had some problems with my ram and cpu cooler, and I was going super slow to not screw it up since I'm clumsy. It was like 9 hours maybe? Including installing windows and drivers. In reality, you should be able to get it done in like 3-4
Marshmallow M80 alright thanks. Thats what I'm afraid of, that my stuff isn't gonna work but hopefully it all goes decently well.

Did you make sure it allows you to download windows 10? Mine was defaulted to windows 7 so I needed to change it in bios
Michael Smith thank I actually used another program that forced the ISO on to it. For some reason it wouldn't let me use any memory drive through the normal tool creator, topical windows troubles lol

Fertho Support the smaller devs with what you can. I never pirate small games as long as it's possible to buy them easily. It's the things like skyrim that I might pirate because devs have made loads of money off it already and I'd rather give what I do have to the smaller devs.

Not really that funny..
You are a legend
Captain Knots lol I see what you did there
I mean Paul loved it so...who's the idiot now?!!!
What was that link to download all apps in one go? I remember hearing about it a while back but never looked into it. Since I'm building another pc again it will help tons.

Bingo
Why would you need Linux? What is Linux? Who are you? Who am I?
Lyralei Windranger I don't know a single hacker that uses Ubuntu lmfao. I hate Ubuntu and Kali, debian was okay. I personally like Arch Linux but most hackers I know use NetBSD, since it's more secure and only a small community of Hackers use it
Paul can you do a complete guide on how to boost hardware like overclock CPU, GPU and RAM?
Sheena1234ization yes please
Sheena1234ization it's easy just download more ram
4:48 first chassis fan spinnin fast tho
This video is 4 years old, and it helped me set up my first pc build. Thanks Paul!
One of the fans went WARP SPEED for a second. Said 19000RPM. ●~●
Most motherboard sensors are shitty like that.
Has anyone had any luck with windows 7 key on kinguin ? Thinking about using it for my upgrade.
Due to the way Windows 10 activates w/digital entitlement, I'd prefer it on Kinguin. I've heard from a few people who purchased older versions and had activation problems.
So my best bet for getting a key for windows 7, would be to get a brand new disc with full activation key? or go with windows 10 on kinguin?
Brian Boyette No, don't by a brand new one. Just torrent for free.
Generic Username yea. but there's a risk of having a very sneaky bot in Windows
Kevin M True, but that is if you get one from the wrong source. There a trusted ones out there.
We split the loss ($15 each), since it was my idea to use Kinguin, but we will never use that grey market site (or G2A for that matter) again and will recommend others avoid it as well.
zealot491 there's nothing wrong with g2a just don't use kenguin
but can you use some third party programs, that can crack windows and disable that activate windows watermark ?
did you use insurance option?
G2A uses stolen credit crad infos to buy keys...
A nice reminder of what to do. Since I can not start my build till tomorrow, I will download all the drivers today and put them on a USB drive, plus, I always partition and format my drives outside of the computer because I can.
The worst thing is I'm building a i5 6500/gtx 1070 but it costs double the price of this.
A 6700? So not a 6700k?
Admiral Ackbar I spent $550 on my 1060 in Canada (although it was gtx Strix and if I'd wait could have saved $100) but point is that I know your pain here in the great white north
Jason Martens If you live in canada, check how the linusmediagroup get their stuff. You can always order online.
In England things are more expensive iswell! Those lucky Americans!
Norway is even more expensive with 25% tax of everything on pc stuff
How did you install windows without the key, does it mean that you didn't pay for the windows
Im having the same question. Do you not have to pay for windows 10?
When you install windows you can click now to pay for it immediately and it'll give you like a trial for around 2 weeks. It's what I'm on currently, but at the due date windows will kick you off of their os until you finally get a product key.
Don't install Windows, install Linux. UEFI is Linux-based anyway, you may just go all the way. No key needed.
*Question!* _So connecting to your Monitor (or TV via HDMI), Keyboard and Mouse does not need "drivers" even when having a _*_newly custom built PC_*_ right?_
_Because I'll be connecting my PC to my TV via HDMI and I've read about it that drivers are needed etc. and it made me confused... (Maybe drivers are needed only when using Graphics Card?)_
_So will I be able to use a Monitor (or TV via HDMI), Keyboard and Mouse without installing drivers, so that I can use them to navigate through BIOS while having no Operating System?_
_I won't be using Graphics Card by the way and I'll be installing Linux Mint instead of Windows._

Deepee Ayadges But .exe files only run as fast as your shit emulator works. Best of getting windows. All the mainstream content there
Thankyou so much. That disk clean part saved me so much
Just about to start my first build so glad u have done this video I will be,building it on my channel so fingers crossed I’ll get it working and I’ll be thanking u if it does lol
Download and update the BIOS version BEFORE starting windows install.
Why
is it F11 for every new computers nowadays?
Not all motherboards have a boot option like that on startup but many do, and the key that's used can vary. Usually you'll see a splash screen right after you power on with the motherboard manufacturer's logo and the boot interrupt keys listed, usually at the bottom of the screen - Del for BIOS/UEFI, F11 for Boot Options etc.
ok
I felt that apology hit home for a lot of beginners lol
dude when I tell you I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU RN FOR HELPING ME WITH THIS I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU MAN KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND CONTENT
is this the guy from alvin and the chipmunks???
Mr. Stankers lmao uncle Ian
Lololol
Yea lol!
you just had to ruin it
I thought the same
I'm building a new pic later this month, and I was wondering- can't I just plug in my current HDD with Win10 and all my files and boot from there? Then get my drivers etc? Thx
I have swapped mother boards and memory but kept everything else the same. All that I had to do was install thedrivers.

Late response sorry
If you haven't figured it out by now (you've had 3 months) they will work fine but before you do any serious gaming you will want to install the drivers for your mouse, keyboard, and graphics card.
BE SURE IT IS EXACTLY LIKE YOU WANT IT_*
yes
Do I use GPT if my drive is exactly 2TB or do I use MBR??
Casey Bunter No , You should use GPT , MBR is for less than 2 Terabytes
I love you. That tipp with how to wipe partitions with the command tool saved me!! They just didnt wanna go away with just deleting
I'm building my PC tomorrow, so a response would be wonderful. If I have both my drives plugged in when I go to install windows, will I be given the option to choose where I install the OS? Thanks!
Yeh
you instal the oem to the better drive you have, if its ssd then for ssd, if they both hdd then check their rpm, install it into the one that has more rpm, most commonly you have ssd + hdd (if this way you install oem&programs&games on the ssd, store videos and music files on the hdd)
Thats the only time We use *Internet Explorer* LOLZ
RAJ KHAN Microsoft: IT'S MICROSOFT EDGE!!!!!!!
Hoj32 Everyone else: LOL No, it's not
RAJ KHAN I download chrome before drivers
Yeah I’m sad ;(
daggern15 it is you plum
Lurest Chrome sucks, get Opera
Wait so what was the point of 5? I understood the point of the internet connection but what about the other stuff? What does that Help with? Sorry this would be my first build.
You need to install drivers to make sure your hardware works efficiently,in some cases to make sure that it just works
im subbed lets see this happen
This video is the grail for new builders. Base for my first build next week I definitely feel more confident with all this info I was given
can i use my old win 10 product key from my laptop or i need to get brand new key???
id also love to know
Most laptops have OEM keys which cannot be used more than once so if u have a laptop u need to buy a new key but if u built (if it's prebuilt u cannot it should be built by u) a pc and bought a windows 10 key write down that key in the new pc and it should work unless u bought a OEM key.
Biała Panda Hey dude, it depends. If you bought laptop and it came with windows set up. The answers no, but if you put in the product key yourself, yes you can.
not really because my friend got a key from his friend and he gave me the same key and it works too so we are using the same key on 3 pcs.
Biała Panda could try it and see as long as it is not OEM.
14:34 My usb key don’t show up :c help
I have that same problem..
Could be a problem with either the ports or the stick. Use a know good memory stick then try it in each port. If it isn't showing up in the BIOS/UEFI screens after trying all of your ports then you are out of luck.
Either the stick is dead or your ports are.
Make sure it’s in FAT32
Just finished my first build today, tool me 12 hours...
Same)
Same
It's taking for ever stuck loading in a splash screen after installation was done and restarted .....
Lol you look like the guy from small soldiers
Gizmo ^^
Braydon Collins bahahahahaha

Yeap, it is one of my favorite vegetables.
Did AMD finally change name?
agreed

Good Video
What is RAID mode?
TheLivingCat 02 yessss anyone? 🤔
im as confused as you are... id think theres much to worry about.... its prob something to do with OC
i'm a fucking crow no it's a way to set up your storage
TheLivingCat 02 RAID (redundant array of independant disks) this is used as a way to dipurse files and data across more than one drive to help with general speed and increased storage depending on what comfiguration of RAID you use: i hoped this helped
lilly smith good explanation
