TU-22M3 flight operations from Syria

Long-range Tu-22M3 bombers, which arrived the day before at the Russian Khmeimim airbase in the Syrian Arab Republic, made regular training flights over the eastern Mediterranean Sea accompanied by Russian Su-35 fighters. The crews of Tu-22M3 long-range bombers received practical skills in performing missions in new geographic areas. After completing training tasks for the development of airspace in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea, long-range bombers will return to permanent airfields on the territory of the Russian Federation. At present, all types of aircraft in service with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, including heavy aircraft, can fly from the Khmeimim airbase.
