  • If you have to choose between living in London and living in Edinburgh, which one would you go for? Wait a moment! Don’t yet pause to answer that question. You’ll have the opportunity to attempt it at the end of this video. For now, we would love to help you to analyze the two cities vis-à-vis your personal circumstances. Nevertheless, many people will jump at it if they were presented with an opportunity to live in either of the cities. That means, for you to be able to choose either of the two and make the move, you are among the few fortunate around. To such people, we present this video entitled Living in London vs Edinburgh - Which Is Better?
    Size
The size of a city matters somewhat to whether or not it is to be chosen as a home. The bigger a city is the more its opportunities, social or nightlife, tourism or travel, and places to visit. London covers an area of total area of 611 (606.96) square miles. Edinburgh, on the other hand, covers an area of 102 square miles. So if you are the type that, kind of, loves a city by its sheer size because of the supposed advantages you stand to gain in such a size, consider living in London.
    Population
The size of a city may stand as a blessing or woe if the population is not commensurate to the size. This can be an attracting or a repelling force for people considering where to make a home. Thus, you should be interested in the population of both cities to determine which of them is better for you. The population of London is about 10 (8,799,800) million while that of Edinburgh is 506,520 for the locality and the city of Edinburgh Council area has a population of 1,384,950 if some outlying villages in the area’s western part are added.
Now, let’s help you make some sense of this. Yes, London is larger than Edinburgh in both population and size. If you’re interested in size, you’ll prefer London. And if you want to live where people want to live in case they have an advantage, it will still be London again. However, something crucial to consider is the population density so that you can determine if a city is overpopulated or not.
The City of London has a population density of some 7,700 (11,760) residents per square mile. The Greater London area has a population density of some 14,550 (14,500) residents per square mile. As for Edinburgh, the population density is 4,730 inhabitants per square mile. That means viewed from any angle, London is more densely populated than Edinburgh though it can’t be emphatically to be overpopulated.
    Weather
Another thing to take into account when comparing these two cities is their weather conditions. It is all too easy to assume, as many people think, that since the UK is not that large, the climate must be the same or, at least, similar everywhere on the island. But the opposite is the case. Edinburgh’s weather is quite different from that of London. In Scotland generally, it can be windy and pretty chilly throughout the year. Thus, you may not so much need summer clothes in Edinburgh. In this city, the temperature seldom exceeds 17 degrees.
As for London, you are bound to enjoy a lot of sunshine. This implies that overall, the temperature is usually somewhere around 3 degrees and 7 degrees higher than that of Edinburgh. It’s not uncommon for London to experience a temperature of 19-24 degrees in summer. In recent years, in fact, there were a number of heat waves taking temperatures above 30 degrees. It even reached 38 degrees not long ago. This means if you prefer to live in London, you will definitely need summer clothes. But if Edinburgh is your preference, you may not need anything of that sort. But that’s not an issue for most people.

I lived in London for almost 10 years but never visited Edinburgh as I was more interested in other European cities back then.
Silly me. Now I really want to see Edinburgh 😊
