Fun fact: this song was written originally purely for live concerts so they could have a rave with the public recreating ethnic dance ritual. You can check out original version on their channel (it's 4 min long and has completely different lyrics).
Shum is a forest god btw in our mythology and the song is basically a call for a spring to come. There're lots of interesting aspects about it, but that just the gist of it.

the ancient pre-Christian rite of awakening the spirit of the forest in the spring. Shum(Noise) is the spirit of the forest. He sleeps in the winter. People sang and danced to make him wake up. I understand this song as the awakening of people after a covid quarantine. They wake up Noise (nature) and with its help they try to drive away the covid

I love how meaningful and deep the video is ,in addition to featuring a great song. Shum is an ancient Ukrainian dance ritual performed to awaken spring. Pandemic and Chernobyl are references of huge problems to overcome and there is hope for better tomorrow, when we will celebrate life and renewal. There is one more reason for showing the Chernobyl Dome in the video ( 4:28 ): the original folk song "Shum" (which was the inspiration) was recorded in Chernobyl region. Initially, Go_A's first video was not for Eurovision but a part of a music project, which they started to remind about a big piece of folk culture from Chernobyl region lost because people from the contaminated region were evacuated and resettled elsewhere. Everything in the video has meanings. And the falcon- is the symbol of the Holy Spirit and Ukraine 's saint patron: descending falcon in stylized graphic version is in Ukraine's coat of arms, intertwined with letters ВолЯ ( which means "freedom" and "will").

To comment on the chorus thing. Since it is very heavily folk inspired, there is a lack of a chorus since traditional folk music doesn't have the same structure of a pop song with a verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus.
To add to it, this type of music is most chorus only so there will be lots of criticism calling it "repetitive".

Maxxy, thanks a lot for a reaction! I think the song will grow on you, and after you see the stage performance I believe you will like it too and know your initial prediction was not baseless as they already after the 1 rehearsal won the press review in Rotterdam.
The song is based on one of our oldest pre-Christian pieces of folklore (a song and dance ritual dedicated to a god of forest Shum who is asleep in winter and who needs to be awakened to bring life back to the world). I guess it looks and sounds dark to you because they made it fitting the meaning of it as when it was created people were not sure spring would come, coming back to normal life after long winter was not a certainty and you needed to throw all your combined effort into the rutual, sing and dance and please the god. This is Shum 2, written specifically for the ESC (you can find the first one called Go_A - Шум on youtube, Kateryna's stage outfit will reflect the authentic lyrics of the song - "our Shum has a green coat", meaning leaves). Shum is a god of forest, the forest itself and in the modern Ukrainian it means "noise", hence you will see a play on words in the lyrics of Shum. They combined the metaphoric long covid miserable winter, effort to awaken the world and spring coming finally. There's also a reference to Chornobyl in the video as another global challenge that hit us 35 years ago and which we managed to survive. It's all good vibes, I promise, they didn't intend to give any negativity, they are workig to heal our broken world so to speak. The video has English subs with a decent translation of Kateryna's lyrics styled as the original ritual song.
Thanks a lot for your support again, I'm sending good vibes! 💙💛

Hey Maxxy, in my opinion this song is way better than the previous year, I think it would grab the attention of the public more easily because is like enchanting... And at the same time sounds modern. What do you think nowadays? Has it grown on you lately or still think last year's was better?

And why all songs must have same structure? That is what makes loads of modern music boring for me, like I have already heard it million times before. Also, give a son a chance and listen more then 5 seconds then judge. This is my top pick.

4:28 I don't know if you have realised, but what you see there is the actual Chernobyl nuclear power plant that caused a disaster in 1986. That curved structure on top of it is the 'new safe confinement' that was built in 2019 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chernobyl_New_Safe_Confinement
