Love watching climbers having fun. Mat is good at reading beta. Loved the interviews regarding indoor vs outdoor climbing at the end too!
"Screen or Case?"
some engineer cries realizing that their durability improvements are mostly just enabling people to do more dangerous things with their phones
I've been following matt for a year, DID NOT know that he'd only been climbing 5 years. Insane for the grades he's been climbing.
Pretty crazy, but can you believe that Dave Graham climbed 8b+ after a year? Now that is crazy
@@mrthirty1139 Yeah ok thats pretty insane. Was he a framer before he started climbing?
On his insta he said he started climbing 9 years ago, so maybe the 5 years was when he started getting more serious.
I guess it was so obvious that Louis and Matt didn't even bother to point it out, but of course outdoor climbing takes much more route reading ability while indoor, being the holds colored, the sequences are much easier to get right.
9:18 looked so smooth! It's inspiring to see how fluid Louis's technique is!
Respect Mat for being strong outdoors well over an indoor competition (a very friendly one). Oh, can't wait until the outdoor segment of the competition!
Such a good example of how the 2 categories are so different even though they are classed as the same sport. Great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
wow, 8C after 5 years of climbing xD.. i feel really weak now with my 6B with 4 years of climbing.. but 6B also is the same grade i climbed when i just started.. haha
I love all the effort you're putting into RUclips Louis and Catalyst. You've been putting out some really great content.
12:41 The causal "Ouch" mid-climb gets me everytime!
7:51 just blew my mind 😭😭
This is insane, didn't know Louie was that good!
Re-Match outdoors!? I think we all would love to see that :)
louis constantly looks like the video was playing at 1.25 speed
As someone relatively new to the climbing world, it surprises me to see such a skilled climber who rarely climbs indoors!
I guess that depends on how you got introduced, if that dude just started outdoors and has cool climbs nearby, why would he ever go to a gym? i know i wouldn't ;)
Glad to see you doing those push-ups 😅 I do them all the time now thanks to you and I can't tell you the amount of times I've been asked about them!
What's the deal with those? Is it a certain amount if you send vs fail or just after every attempt? Love those little bits of extra training. Thanks
@@joshworley4228 he does it every time he jumps off instead of climbing down! He's a machine and does five, I'm content with three...
Nice session guys. Can't wait for the outdoor follow-up video... curious to see how it goes.
Very interesting to have an analysis of what makes a strong indoor vs. outdoor climber. You guys are both excellent though, it's very impressive!
Louis’ technique is just amazing
Matt was awesome!! What a genuine guy, awesome to see him on.
I don't think Louie realises how good he is
Mat looks strong as all hell, my god.
Louie was insane this session .
Saw the thumbnail and was surprised that Louis was collabing with idubbz
"oh noooo" Louis says gleefully
15:16 RIP rubber
Time to do a part 2 but outdoors #
Standing in front of that amazing spray wall the whole time and Mat didn't even make one spray wall climb where I feel like he could actually have made it a fair fight. Still a fun video though- really illustrates the crazy ability comp climbing develops to flash sequences of weird movement!
I would love to see you guys having a session on Louis' home wall.
Never change Loui, never change.
That phone toss >.< haha nice video Louis and Mat!!
The way you two effortlessly walk up those climbs as if it's nothing. Well done!
Just two humble climbers
Reasons to work on handstand press: crazy mantles like the elimination on the handstand start
Weird question but what climbing trousers does Mat wear? I'm looking for a pair myself and they look great
Actually yes i wanna know as well ^
Louis, I love your energy!
Waiting for outdoor series 😏
love to see the outdoor one :)
Now you gotta outside with Matt!
What shoes is Mat wearing? The brand is obvious but can't really find specific model. Sweet lookin shoes.
Ok, I guess it's EB Balboa, new model for 2022.
This is the climbing gym I go to!
Every time a year goes by a year gets deducted off the time mat claims he’s been climbing! Crazy how science works
Glad not just me who notices 😂
I’d been climbing for 5 years when I’d climbed both of the routes mentioned in the video - you’re just salty seeing as I was climbing better than you during my second year to you now 😉
Outdoor boulders don't dissapear as fast as indoors though, so more time for projecting.
Nice Channel, Lucky to find you :)
It would be nice if U could mention the difficulty of the individually Routes :)
Awesome Video!
Is it just me or Louis just sounds like the nicest guy ever?
9:49 *WHEN THE MATS ARE HARD*
I really wish I could get back into climbing. The gym is just too expensive and too far for me right now
Luis, you get -70 points for distracting. Otherwise very nice comp :)
Indoor vs outdoor climber.. in an indoor gym. Lol my money is on Louis
maybe stupid question but at 9:55 we can see louis go for some push up . is that for tendinitis (golfer ellebow i believe ?) if yes how many should i do for my ellebow i have tendinitis and it make me stop climbing after 3 blocs wich is actually sad since i just love climbing .. ( i am sorry for my english have a nice day guys)
He does them as punishment for not climbing down, not for any injury. That said, do some antagonistic (push up, dips, tricep extension) work and let yourself rest on the climbing and ease back in
What was the deal with doing push ups after the boulder? Was it a certain number if you sent vs failed or just every time? Curious as to what and why as I love those kind of little extra sneaky bits of training/sillyness. Cheers
5 push ups if you jump off the wall when you could have climbed down :)
The biggest different is in my opinion that an outdoor climber is not so explosive Strong. He trying to do all the climbing very static and with full Control. Which I understand, outdoor is no save and comfortable mate and every Fall can hurt you a lot more.
what brand are your chalk buckets?
Protip: you can ask Google or Siri to flip a coin and they'll do it. You don't need to uh, throw your phone 😉
I know im two years late but you can ask siri/google to flip a coin. You dont need to throw your phones
7:50 spiderman
can u share matt's training routine? ^^
He has his own coaching brand, might be worth checking it out :)
Can anyone tell what shoe Louis is wearing?
La sportiva theory
oh guys that is super cool, I wouldnt be able to do any of those 100000 percent)))
Lets see the indoor boulderer go outside......
Who came here after Lexicon?
Glad you're enjoying our vids!
@@CatalystClimbing thanks Captain! Keep it coming.
who can climb 8c after 5 years loool
I climbed 8a at 23 months. You have to focus on your weaknesses and take a lot of the fun out of climbing. In my opinion, it’s more fun in the long run, however.
I climbed 7c+ lead in 22 months. Dedication and mindset
Damn outliers / committers :)
Do u have a coach to help you achieve it or did u make ur own climbing plan?
I’m currently climbing 6C at 1 month…
Ohhh Nooooo!
cool
if only had skin copium
sorry mate, the blond one, just a word of advise, do not try so hard to be cool, you are not.
Who hurt you? Lmao he’s just having fun it’s a good video
