The Storm now has passed and I wanted to show the devastation it has left behind. PEI has lost so much!!! Please share with your friends and family.
PEI was hit on September 24th 2022 by Hurricane Fiona, one of the biggest storms ever hit the Atlantic cost of Canada. It was a tropical strom, but with wind forces of a category 2 Hurricane.

Thank you John!
Hope everything will be fine, the human be safe
Hi Yani, yes I believe all will be good again one day. we will rebuild.
An amazing video.
The views of the towns, streets, yard, coast, roads and drones. A great capture of a moment Islanders won't forget. You captured witb superb care and respect to many views of the storm that visited the Gentle Island. It has happened a thousand times before and will happen another thousand times again.
Thank you Karl for the kind words but you said it. It is a gentle island and it happens before and will happen again. One just hopes it is not becoming a frequent event and not as strong. We got lucky this time.
We finally got power after 14 days. I know that is nothing compared to what people lost. My east goes out to those who have damage to their homes and property. 💕
I know what you mean!!! Our heart goes out to all!!
now all i can remeber is crying from all the trees falling i was crying because i was scared
Excellent video again! We tent at Twin Shores 3 weeks every year and your drone took us right over our site on the front where the beach is. So much erosion. Seems like many dunes are cut right in half. The stroll to the "tea cup" was our daily walk. The "Gentle Isle" has taken another vicious swipe, but her people will regain their footing. Thanks so much for allowing these southern Maine folks to see the place we are so fond of and appreciate so much. Your work is excellent!
Thank you Steven for your kind words. I am glad I could capture the devastation so people see the actual impact. Yes many dunes are half the size but many more have disappeared. Over time they will come back one hopes.
Were their campers on what are now empty lots? Have you seen the New London Lighthouse? I stayed at the inn nearby and loved the view. The devastation is heartbreaking and the Teacup😢 I ❤PEI.
No I think there was no one out there when the storm came. They had moved what that could move to safety. No one was hurt thank god.
Thank goodness.
My daughter and I were on the Island a month or so before visiting relatives, devastated to see so much destruction has been caused to our favourite place in the world 🇬🇧🇨🇦🇬🇧🇨🇦
Hi Jeff, thank you for watching! Yes it is sad to see our small island being so devastated.
Thank you for your great video that shows the depth of the destruction that took place, the drone really brings it into focus.
This storm could have been so much worse if there was a high loss of life from it.
I know lots of p people feel. Devastated but things can be repaired replaced but a life lost is gone for ever .
Thank you for watching! This storm could have been much worse, you are right. We are lucky as there was no loss of life.
Such devastation. U did such a great job covering all of it. I'm so sorry u all had to go through this. I hope all will get back to normal soon. ❤️
Yes Christie as of yesterday only 3 households had no power. All is getting back to a more normal.
Thank you for filming the Teacup rock, I finally got to visit PEI last month and got to see the teacup and got some great pictures of it, You got to that location a lot easier than I did. I came in from the other side lol again thanks for sharing.
Thank you Violet I am so happy I could share it with you. Yes the other side is a private path, but I got permission to use it.
So sad to see all the downed trees. We left Cousins Shore on the Friday as it came in. I can’t believe how high the water came in at Stanley Bridge. The cottage we stay in fortunately had no serious damage. Our best to you.
Hi JP, yes Stanley bridge shocked me the most and we yet to see Delvay as that has changed forever.
Thanks for another great video. I also live in S’side but did not go out and about for a few days. It is very sad to see so much destroyed. But… we are indeed blessed
Hi Paula. Yes we got lucky. I saw how bad other areas got hit.
Yes. Our coastlines may never be the same again. And so many houses, barns, fields, businesses, boats, schools , etc., etc., etc.. I hope recovery won’t last too many years for some.
I have family in Charlottetown who are on Day 17 with no power still . 😢 I know there are many crews working hard, but it sounds so ‘third world’.
Aren’t you glad you moved to Summerside? ( a small silver lining ).
@@paulawilliamson5030 yes happy to be in Summerside we got lucky up here. Recovery will be slow on the island.
You're from Europe, Germany? Love from Montreal everyone, mom and my grandparents lived on Cunard St. I had one on the inside and one on the outside in '98, Qc's ice storm...
Yes from Germany. Thank you for sending the love!
It's hard to wrap my head around it all...we live between the bridge and summerside and haven't been too far from home since the storm. So much damage and tree work to be done around us, and I know the north shore and east side of the island got it so much worse. But it's looking like soon everyone will have power again! As I type this, it says 368 homes left without power. Hopefully everyone will be hooked up again in the next day or two.
Thank you for watching Savannah. Yes it has taken people a lot of time to wrap their heads around the devastation. It seems that there is just so much. Many people have lost so much, and most of us got lucky. Power I hope will be back soon for the people that have been without for so long.
I was off Island when the storm hit and stayed away for the first week of cleanup. It was amazing to see destruction once I got back. At our place in Summerside lost only a tree branch. At the farm y husband grew up on trees down and as of yesterday still no power. Back in Calgary now to return to the Island in February. Renos on our house in Summerside progressings.
Sorry to hear that... We were lucky as this could have been much worse. Thank you for watching!!!
@@CanadianLife2020 Just a large branch in the yard. We had Branch Manager secure trees before the hurricane. I have a picture taken in Charlottetown of me standing in front of an uprooted tree that is really high. Tried to add it hear as it was the largest I saw but could not.
@@YOUGHALLBEACH yes saw a lot of huge trees in Charlottetown down. So sad to see them go like this.
As long no human harm everything will be fine 🙂 stay safe
Salma, we on the island have been lucky, but the other province was not, we did loose people to this strom. 😢😢😢
@@CanadianLife2020 oh sorry to hear that 😢
Quite a few animals were killed as well.
@@karlbjorkquist7489 sorry to hear that Karl 😢
What equipment did you film this with? Thank you :)
Just my iPhone!
I tell people that what category a hurricane is doesn’t necessarily matter if that hurricane causes a lot of damage to your home, and seriously disrupts your life. Then whether it’s a category 1 hurricane or a category 4 hurricane doesn’t really matter to you. For you and your family it’s been a bad hurricane no matter what if it causes serious damage to your home, and majorly disrupts your life!
Thank you for watching and yes you are right. It does not matter the strength the damage and disruption causes everyone who experiences this major grief.
The teacup rock, is it there still, only toppled? Or has it disappeared?
It is completely gone. There is nothing left but the saucer I guess. I made a video of the before and after on my Facebook page
You find it in the description
did Morell get much damage?
Hi Kyle I am not sure. I was not able to go out there. But the east side of PEI was hit the worst. I filmed more the middle and it was bad already here.
