Totally agree with you. But... isn't that the reality? Isn't that the situation in which we find ourselves? In other words, because our society is competitive, we have no choice but to compete. Because our way of life requires money (even just to pay for the essentials) we have no choice but to make money somehow, whether that means working a full time job or what ever. And so, it seems many (if not most) of us don't like the way things are going today, but we essentially have no choice but to participate in the current system - thereby, of course, perpetuating the system. So yes, we can see what the problem is, but please someone, give us the answer!

You can look up for videos on how to control ur mind. The point isn’t to earn money and pay bills, this not living that is surviving. At 43, the meaning of life to me has become very simple: survive in the physical gravity simulator as long as possible, while working to make yourself, people, animals, and stuff which you care about, as comfortable as possible in any given moment, but also understanding that this dimension is set up to crunch, twist, and tear apart you and everything you see. Sure, manifest stuff, build and create, have experiences, play in this 3D sandbox, but understand that eventually gravity and time is going to crunch you and everything you have ever seen into dust. The meaning of life is like pinball: try to keep the ball out of the drain for as long as possible, try to have fun while doing it, but eventually the ball is going down the drain. No one ‘wins’ pinball. We are that ball, and most people tend to take some knocks throughout life like that ball, it is a matter of responding to those bumper deflections and trying to redirect onto the desired path the best you can. As far as happiness, I think most people, including me, operate under the unconscious assumption that one day we will achieve a magical set of conditions, which will allow us to break through to a new plane of being, and we will be happy for the rest of our lives. I think this unconscious assumption is what causes most of the pain, disappointment, constant dissatisfaction. Look back, most of you will see times in your life where happiness came, but is was probably fleeting, maybe even happened for no reason, or for an unexpected reason. Happiness is a fleeting side effect of life that comes sometimes, like a cherry ontop. Your past probably reflects that, so why think the future will be any different? To think that “if I could just create the right set of conditions, passive income, new location, different job, a relationship, etc, then I will reach permanent happiness”. No, it won’t. It may last awhile, but the next thing will come. If you look at the world, it does not appear to be set up for permanent happiness, and to assume so will bring double the pain and suffering. I think that assumption comes from 1950’s American 5th Avenue marketing, that we are all entitled to happiness. I think people in history prior to that had a more stoic understanding that life is pretty tough a lot of the time. Like this video said, it is very important to decondition yourself from current societal trends and benchmarks, and walk your own path. We are all born alone, we die alone, no matter how close you get to other people in this life, they aren’t going to be in your body with you on your deathbed, they can’t walk your path, and you shouldn’t try to walk theirs. To me, this dimension is a testing facility. It is set up to make us grow. It is not an easy place and expecting it to be so will just make it harder. Enjoy happiness when it comes, love, build, live as honorably as you can, but understand that one day, sooner or later, the world is going to completely f up your plans, to the degree there will be zero you can do about it; you will lose the game of pinball - and that’s ok too.

Nothing transcendent has been proven to exist. If you disregard this life that is the only real and possible life and world we can live in, to a supposed ulterior life that we don't know if it exists at all, then you are making your life more miserable than it had to be. The book is about King Solomon who was the riches man (in today’s value he would be worth around 3 trillion) and the wises man that ever lived. The book was written somewhere around 900 BC.
He lived as clean as he could and as sinful as he could and his prospective on the two
sides was spot on. Imho he nailed it.
      Ecclesiastes 11:7
The light is pleasant, and it is good for the eyes to see the sun. 8.Indeed, if a man should live many years, let him rejoice in them all, and let him remember the days of darkness, for there will be many. Everything that is to come will be futility.
9.Rejoice, young man, during your childhood, and let your heart be pleasant during the days of young manhood. And follow the impulses of your heart and the desires of your eyes. Yet know that God will bring you to judgment for all these things. 10.So, remove grief and anger from your heart and put away pain from your body, because childhood and the prime of life are fleeting.

I spent a lot of my life serving and helping others. In the end I was not loved, I was not respected, I did not see much reciprocity or reward in turn. I didn't even feel satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment in what I had done. I was left empty and wondered, for a long time, why was I unworthy of being loved or liked by the people I did my best to love. For some people you will never be the person they want, even if the intent you bring is good. I found that for me being selfish and letting go of the welfare of others (to an extent--I'm no sociopath) was essential to actually work towards a happier life.
I don't really help other people out much if at all anymore, and frankly I don't miss that part of my life at all. It's weird to say, but it brought me peace. Everyone's road is a little different. I found in the end none of that made me happy, but the abandonment of such things at least allowed me to focus full steam ahead on what does make me happy in this brief misadventure called life.

I think back to when i was a kid. I was so much happier then. I did things that made me happy. Playing video games, playing with my childhood friends. Talking about each other and laughing about it. Im 47 and boy, im started to see the reality of how its tougher as you see things for what they are. Working 8-5. Bills stacking up. Family members getting sick. On a positive note. You're right. When i do things i like doing im most happiest. I Love hiking, cleaning my room, going by my old neighborhoods and seeing how different or the same it looks. I love working out, watching old 70s tv shows and 90s movies. I definitely think if we think back what we did as kids and transfer it into our adult life it will bring you some joy. I even started collecting baseball cards again after 30 years and it feels just as good as it did in 1991. Thanks for the video brother. I really needed to hear this as im sure a lot of others did too. ❤ 💯 blessings

Objectively speaking, there is no meaning in life. We're all just born, live a while, and die, and that's it. However, being humans, most of us want to be happy in the time we're here. IMO one's meaning in life is whatever they want it to be. Getting married and having a family, travelling, an interesting career, climbing mountains, fishing, playing video games, whatever works for you. The harsh truth (to some) is that when our time's up, that's it, nothing will really matter. We'll be gone forever, not even a memory.

Timothy Ward’s video was very insightful. Thank you! Keep inspiring us. Timothy is absolutely right in saying we won’t be actually happy believing that we will be happy if we find the right relationship, right career, attain this much wealth, and etc. I would just add from my perspective, you can’t qualify life, with these I will be happy hypotheticals. When I am washing dishes I remind myself of that. I’m not thinking about how much I can’t wait to finish washing the dishes so that I can relax and watch TV. If we can stop living in our heads and begrudging the thing we are doing, we can feel the hard dish, the sponge, and the running water. Smelling the dish detergent and feeling the motions of your hands, and being aware of our breathing. Just being present! It’s enough. It is the chatter and the thoughts in our heads that disturb our equanimity. We can decide to celebrate life at any time. Why not now? No mater what you are doing? To be comfortable in one’s own skin, is basically enough. Yes, there is everything wrong with the current matrix. Extricate yourself from that lens. Timothy is right, seek the things that make you happy.

We are misled to believe that we are failures because we don’t have the six figure annual salary or the fun filled luxurious lifestyle that comes with it. We fail to realize that these more successful, prosperous people have their problems and their unhappiness like everyone else. Because our socioeconomic system is based on artificial scarcity and organized on an oppressive hierarchy. I love what you're saying, Tim. Especially about feeling alive. It reminds me of what Howard Thurman said long ago: "Don't ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." (Wow, imagine a world in which everyone felt vibrantly alive, expressing their unique selves, doing what brings them joy, and in turn inspiring joy in others, as well!)
For ages, there have been people who have tried to either distract us from the truth by telling us we're not good enough as we are, trying to instill fear in us so that we'll buy into their product or message. Some want us to be perpetually broke/constant consumers - instead of the joyful, powerful, creative, wonderful beings we already are.
But I think lately more and more people are not buying into the false messages. People are realizing that much more is possible for us, and that life isn't about trying to one-up others with how many things we can buy or how famous we can become. Maybe we're slowly entering an era of human enlightenment.
In the wonderful tapestry of life, thanks for being you, Tim! Life's simple and abundant joys are a gift, and you are an example of someone who models appreciating that gift.

The probable reason we're currently having a so called "crisis of meaning" is that we actually have enough time on our hands to actually posit this question when for the vast amount of human history people were so consumed doing something called surviving that the concept of meaning never even occurred to them. The interesting question now becomes which of the situations is most desirable. I lean toward the camp that says sometimes the only answer is to stop asking the damn question.

Well what ever the meaning is, it's not for long....we have a very short lifespan on this limited place of existence. VERY limited.

Great message. What I've learned is to do things that make you fulfilled as opposed to happy. Happiness is temporary. Things like money, fancy car, attractive spouse will bring only happiness. Doing activities that give your life fulfillment is permanent and gives your life more value. Like he said, that's living your life in service to others.

For me the meaning of life is/are when you find your true self and inner peace, then you can just live and notice how amazing this life really is. Tolle and Harari books guided me to that. I hope you can also find it too. Life without ego, fear, anger, regret… is something anyone can realise in them self and get awearness. Greetings from Finland and peace ✌️

I don't enjoy anything in life. In fact, I hate being alive. It's all a massive waste of time distracting yourself doing things until you die. The only thing keeping me here right now is my instinctual will to survive.

Maybe try reconnecting with the inner you. Start with identifying your core values, then create a life around them. You'd be surprised how fulfilled you can be.

I was there too. And it was a good thing. It forced me to reevaluate everything and finally to break open into the joy that was always in me, but complety hidden and blocked from showing up because of my false beliefs. Often people see radical changes into happiness only when their old patterns of behaviour and thinking beginn to fall apart in a kind of crisis. Your true nature of enjoyment of being alive cannot be destroyed only hidden through lifelong adapting into a sick society which has lost its connection to true meaning and happiness. That maybe sounds too simple and naive. But if you really see through this, you understand that it is absolutely true. Maybe you can watch some videos/audios here of Alan Watts who is excellent in describing the situation and how to get out of this. But be patient, maybe you need some time to understand deeply what he is pointing too. Nature and lang walks or bicycle rides often are very helpful to get a sense of the inner peace which is available there. Another thing I can recommend is attending a holotropic breathing session, where you can get in touch with your inner real self very quick.

Look harder for the lessons each era has provided you and be grateful for the opportunity to develop and grow. Reflect on how strong you became from trauma, reflect on how you proved to yourself you aren’t callous in moments of weakness. Appreciate the negative relationships because it provided enlightenment on the peace of solidarity and released loneliness. Be grateful for and meticulous in identifying how each era has provided you experiences that have contributed to you becoming a more whole soul. Accept that everything happens for a reason then reflect on what the lesson was, then be grateful for the gift of growth. Have faith. You are carried in the palm of God and blessed to be shown his masterpiece, and plot twist, the masterpiece is you. Look harder, be grateful, you are a divine plan and the sooner you see it, the sooner you will learn happiness. You need this feeling of hopelessness right now. It is exactly what you need. Figure out why and then you will be closer to embracing happiness. Seeing the intent in the big picture is happiness.

Most of my life right now is "if I can just get through today". But, it's partly because I am grieving and I'm waiting it out, hoping I will feel better "one day". These videos are give me a spark of hope to maybe find a way out, a different way of thinking.

I like the idea of the message you are putting out but at the end of the day money gives you options whether it be for experiences supporting your family that you love or even medical expenses at the end of the day just don’t let the money define you
