No, the story is not "poorly told" just because it is simple and unconventional. Lore aside, the journey of Elden Ring is one of the most archetypal stories in all of gaming. Story encounters with boss characters may be brief and ambiguous, but they are packed with subtext and leave tremendous impact. It is extremely effective storytelling.
It really is something else on so many levels, even when compared to the golden era games. DS1 is legend, BB is beautiful but ER is immense.
To be fair you can make elden ring face roll easy, I decided to see how many bosses I could beat with my eyes closed using a mimic strategy. What I did was equip the woe, go into the fight, summon the mimic, unequip the woe with memorized button inputs, wait a few moment then lock on and cast spells, drink the flask when I no longer hear the spells being cast and ya that is all. With this the only bosses I have not been able to beat with my eyes closed are rennala, radahn, rykard, the god skin duo and malenia. I have not tried it in the dlc yet. It has taken many attempts but I have done it with my eyes closed.

@@alexchism5192 A life? its such an easy strat... anyone who knows anything about how the game works can do this and I wrote exactly how, the remove the woe bit is just a remembering a 4 button input so if that is what you are struggling with... no comment.

@@alexchism5192 Well considering how I am physically and mentally disabled which causes me to be at home 24/7 I would say I only have time... I guess you think the same about the people who beat the game with, dance pad, guitar hero controller, that mind thing and every other wacky way the game has been beaten. Does this extend to speed runners? what about blindfold challenges? there are plenty of people beating this game in wacky ways...
You could of just used a still from the game(the game with incredible art direction btw) but decided to use an absolutely atrocious ai image.
The hardest games that are fun to play put limitations on what the player can do. The limitations that force you to get better, you don't have to get better at Elden Ring, theres tons of ways to cheese it. The same cannot be said for something like Ghosts N Goblins, or Ninja Gaiden, you either get better or you fail. The limitations breed creativity.
Great video! I agree, I've been playing games since around 1999 when I was very little, Elden Ring is the best game I've ever played in my life, and I don't think anything else will outdo it, maybe GTA VI who knows...

Yeah it’s good but you can’t compare it to games like Baldur’s Gate 3, they’re both games and both have swords and axes and magic but that’s exactly where the similarities end. Both are awesome, and it totally depends on your mood which game you want to play
But if I only have an hour to play a game, I can't play both. You do have to compare all games to some degree every time you turn on your system. DS1 still gets playtime, but fallguys is gone with the wind. Therefore on some level DS1>fallguys even if they are both completely different games. Easy math.

First contact with a From Software game is always a two steps process. I didn't appreciate Demon's Souls to it's fullest, went as far as the first boss, got overwhelmed and quit. When I got Dark Souls it clicked. But not before a few hours and a reroll
