    I’ve just done the NC500 from the North East of England on my 2020 Tracer GT. Couldn’t fault the bike. It was great. Heated grips and cruise control were ideal on the open roads. The Tracer is a road bike and I wouldn’t dream of taking on anything else other than Tarmac. It’s lightweight, economical with fuel and as fast as you would ever want. I recommend it.

    I bought Tracer 900GT last year after selling a 2016 1200S Multistrada which I had nothing but trouble with in the 7 months I owned it. The 900GT is my favourite bike out of all I have owned…..it’s fast, economical, comfortable to ride all day and super reliable. I fitted a full Delkevic exhaust and had it tuned so it sounds amazing too!

    Hi Andy, thanks for the video. I downsized from an FJR to my current bike, a 2017 Tracer 900. And, to be honest, it does everything the FJR did, but it's a hell of a lot lighter and more manageable. The thing I do hate though is the seat, man is it awful, and mine is the comfort seat allegedly! I think that the size, weight and performance of the Tracer is perfect. Sure, some things could be better, but as a package it's a damned good bike.

    I had a Yamaha Fazer 600 for 20 years as my ‘town bike’, I also took it touring in France, Italy and Switzerland a few times as it was such a great all rounder. During the time I had the Fazer I also had a Goldwing, BMW K1200 LT and a Honda Valkyrie, I still have the Valk.
    Anyway, I fancied a new bike, sold the Fazer and bought the Tracer 900GT, a 2020 model in 2021 with only 500 miles on the clock.
    I’ve just come back from my 2nd French tour on the GT, it performed fantastically, never missed a beat.
    There were a few things that I had to change on the Tracer to get it just right for me though.
    1) I had to get the seat reupholstered with comfort foam and non slip faux suede as the std seat is the most uncomfortable I have ever ridden, it’s a disaster. 2) I bought a seat levelling kit in order to stop my nadgers getting crushed on the tank every time I braked 3) added handlebar risers and grip puppies for a more comfortable position 4) added bar end weights to stop the awful vibration through the handlebars. 5) added rubber FJR pegs to stop the awful vibrations through the feet. 6) replace the std screen with a tinted Puig sport screen to stop the awful buffeting (I’m 6’ 1”)
    It’s now a different bike and thoroughly enjoyable as opposed to being a literal pain in the arse, I too live in Hampshire and there are some fantastic roads to be ridden in the county, although the number of potholes is ridiculous.

    Thinking exactly the same after a year’s ownership. Shaft drive is a major motivation as the back wheel gets covered- I have an electronic scottoiler and have a Puig screen which takes the wind off but remains noisy. I’m thinking GS/GSA and will test ride when I get back from Scotland in a couple of weeks. I love the riding position of the tracer and the engine is nice (still miss a Honda V4 after 14 years collective ownership) but 🤷‍♂️
    I look forward to your decision and video 👍 enjoy

    I’ve owned the Tracer900GT from new in 2019 and have exactly the same issues! Great bike, the triple engine is devine with plenty of punch but suspension does let it down with the seat resembling a piece of concrete! More than a couple of hours in the saddle and you are ready to get off….Good mpg and relatively low cost maintenance compared to other manufacturers in this class. Mine has 12500 miles on the clock so with used prices having risen significantly post-Covid makes part exchanging a potentially costly exercise! Ran a Honda CBF1000 for 6 years before the Tracer which was really comfortable but didn’t really excite. The Tracer looks great with panniers for touring and that lovely triple, I already talking myself out of changing her. Decisions decisions………

      Hi @miketalbot3248 I still have my Tracer. Its does an excellent job every time i ride it. I would normally do 1 - 1.5hrs in the saddle and want to rest anyway so find the seat ok. Did a trip down to the Alps this year and it didn't disappoint.

      HI Andy, Thank you for your reply and great to know you still own the Tracer 900GT, it is after all a great bike. In the short term I’ve decided to try adjusting the suspension again for a less harsh ride (if that’s possible) and getting the riders seat reupholstered to make it more comfortable. Incidentally, what’s your bikes mileage and have you needed to carry out valve clearances checks which I believe should be at 24,000 miles. Many thanks and a happy New Year. Cheers

    Be careful mate. At 11:04 looks like that car was inching out there. The new Tracer 9GT+ has the active adjustable suspension and adaptive cruise. All I can say about the screen is they have an aftermarket one by GIVI that is taller. Go for the GT+!!!!

    Had my Tracer GT less than a year from new should have bought the GS in the first place, never looked back since changing but buy what suits. Done with chains so limited options for shaft drive. Do try the RS back to back with the GS before any decision BMW side.

      Hi Mike, I did try them back to back about 3yrs ago. Wasn't really serious at that point in trading just wanted to know the difference. Thought I could sit on the GS for days and still keep going. The RS put a smile on my face but I felt just a little pushed forward and my knees tucked up. I only rode it for an hour, I need to do the same again this spring. Thanks

    I owned a 2020 yamaha tracer 900gt. I sold it at the end of last year and i will buy the new honda transalp 750. My reasons for selling : My bike was abit of a problem bike, during my two summer trips it left me stranded because of TPS Sensor failures (no throttle response) only after turning the bike on and off for 50x untill it randomly didnt have the error i could continue, which continued the rest of the trip. So my trust in the bike was completely gone. Bad suspension as u say, which is why im changing to an adventure motorcycle. The tracer cant even deal with 'normal' bad roads let alone a little off road. I agree its a very noisy motorcycle. All in all i liked the bike but i lost my trust in it, i didnt find it comfortable for many reasons and i want something that deals with bad roads better.

      Thanks for letting me know why you traded. Touch wood mine has been problem free, apart from a loose mirror. And I would agree, once you hit a few problems the dislikes come to the table and you want to move it on.

    I traded a 900GT for a Multistrada V4S well worth the extra money for similar reasons to you.
    I have had the GS the Versys 1000 and rode the Triumph and hated the engine.
    The Ducati is the best road bike out the lot, try one you will be hooked.

      Aye if only it were shaft drive, had a versys to great engine just crap finish subframe was terrible.

    • @ItsAllJustBollox
      @ItsAllJustBollox Год назад +1

      @@ImJensenKing the Versys engine was a disappointment the Tracer 900 is way better and the multi V4 another level.
      As for shaft drive, there is a reason all competition bikes dont use it including long distance off road races, its expensive and difficult to repair when it goes wrong and water ingress soon shortens its life.

    • @ImJensenKing
      @ImJensenKing Год назад +1

      @@ItsAllJustBollox Tracer was a disappointment as a tour option especially having come from R1 based alternatives not to mention poor luggage rating and rear shock until the newer model, it’s ok as a solo tool not two up which is most of my riding now. Shaft drive is a personal preference and better on tour (for me) Andy mentions thinking about this in his video, shaft drive doesn’t eliminate maintenance but it does offer longer periods between doing so over chain either will fail if not looked after. The Multistrada is a cracking weapon had I wanted another chain drive this or the KTM 1290 would have been my current ride but I didn’t so it isn’t. Viva la difference just #respecttheride

      Hi Steve, good point about the shaft drive, was unaware of service cost. The reviews of the 9GT+ all seem really good but that’s from a load of journalists who are having a great time in Sardinia 😊
