Came here for this comment, yes they do reduce noice! If you take a look of a before and after around a noisy area after adding trees the red area is clearly smaller!
Yeah, at release it didn't work but they added it in a later update because everyone expected it to work that way (or at least those of us coming from the SimCity series)
i hope someone somehow makes a game exporter that exports the map design and general road layout to make transitioning builds even just slightly easier
Oceania LIVES! But... for how long? Whatever you do decide to do; be it continue with Dundee and/or Sunset City in CS, or move on to some new vanilla builds in CS:II - I'll be along for the ride. Already counting the hours 'til the next episode!
Yes Yes Yes Yes!!! Oceania wooo! Hype traiiiinnn! I would 100% keep watching this series, even after Cs2. I need to see the different citiew being built, like in the desert next to the pink lake you made. I was so sad that you hadn't posted any vids on Oceania for a long time, but now the time has finally come again!
As an Australian who moved away and doesn't get to see AU much any more, this brings so much nostalgia and memories back. Keep up Oceania and keep making great Cities: Skylines creations!
I haven't had the time to watch your episodes for a while, but man! I absolutely love the storytelling, the pace, the focus on detail and of course the usage of those NZ houses. Good job!
I cross this intersection everyday aswell. I must say you have done an amazing job of representing the craziness of it. Glad to see Oceania is back again!
Oceania is one of the best series on RUclips. It's nice to see someone from a different but very familiar place construct such a perfect representation of your day-to-day experiences of your city. It brings back memories of visiting Aus. I hope the series continues until you run out of limits or room.
It's so great to see you revive Oceania, it's one of my favourite builds! The highway looks like a total mess, so I guess it's hyperrealistic! Also, I just knew you wouldn't let these ugly zoned areas pass, the new look is stunning!
I would legitimately watch anything you made on any series, these two especially as they are two of my favourite CS series of all time, so very glad to hear they may continue regardless of CS2's release :)
Gosh I'm happy to have Oceania back. I really hope the release of CS2 wont be the killer of this series and Sunset City, even though I'm pumped for the new stuff as well!
Looks amazing. You might want to add emergency vehicles to the bus off ramp and ban them from the main exit so they’re not getting caught up in traffic
At the end of CS1, do you plan to do an in depth tour of your current cities before moving on to new projects in CS2?? It would be great being able to get a final tour of some of my favourite CS1 cities
I just wanna say this series beat Marble Mountains, it is so complicated ánd also gorgeous, basically you made me fall in Love with the whole region. Kudos to you mate!
This episode was hilarious. Especially appreciate the 3 minute segment of you becoming visually frustrated at the benches stacked down to the core of the Earth!!
Just started the episode and I love the idea that you sitting in traffic and construction inspired (or...drove!) you to build something you dislike. I live around Washington DC and while it isn't amazing we have better public transit than a lot of the US. But the highways in Northern Virginia keep getting expanded by suburban voters who insist on more lanes instead of another metro line and buses or LRT. Anyway, glad to see Oceania is back!
the Warringah Freeway is the worst, especially when you dont live in the city so hardly ever drive it and dont know what lanes to be in (which is me btw). I would still whach Oceania after CS2 is released.
CS2 looks like it's gonna be pretty good at launch, but like a lot of sequels for building games like these, there will be a huge crossover period until cs2 has the mods and dlc to match CS1. I'd like to see like a 60-40 split CS1-CS2 videos when it releases (obv jump on that hype for the first month, especially being the builder for the city all the cinematics and trailers show)
God I had that same problem with the bajillion park benches spawning randomly, that caused so much lag for me. I would definitely still be interested in Oceania and Sunset City even after CS2 comes out!
Love the throwback to the Sim City music at the beginning. Probably the only thing that game got right haha. The track is called "The Long Construction" if anyone was wondering.
Speaking of Australian assets, I remember going back to Simcity 4 days and just how many Australian assets were available at Simtropolis. Glad to see the Australian city building asset creators are still going strong!
I think you also need to build a toll tunnel from the Freeway at Matilda Point that then turns to go to the Northern Suburbs of Dundee, like a bypass built a little later on, similar to the NorthConnex or WestConnex tunnels in Sydney.
"today, were gonna challenge ourselves by taking this relativily easy traffic fix, and doing it with the brain of a north American urban designer from the 50s" MORE LANES
Fun fact: vegetation such as trees are terrible at blocking noise (as anyone who has yelled in a forest will be able to tell). In studies they've found that the biggest effects of vegetation along roads are purely psychological and that people report less traffic noise when they can't see the traffic, despite there not being a whole lot of acoustic difference.
I think you also need to build a toll tunnel from the Freeway at Matilda Point that then turns to go to the Northern Suburbs of Dundee, like a bypass built a little later on, similar to the NorthConnex or WestConnex tunnels in Sydney.
This has the same vibes as the roadworks and "improvements" on the West Gate Fwy in Melbourne too - barriered lanes, crazy laned intersections (Montague St pls), just no bus lanes.
Overcharged Egg is doing a series set in Australia called Thessia. Would probably explain the newer Aussie assets as people take interest and help him flesh it out. Oh and coming from Newcastle we have a secret on how to deal with Sydney traffic. Just avoid Sydney, full stop. 😝Then swear and curse if are forced to drive down for some reason. 😂
Man, this intersection in Sydney is a HELL! I hate to go to the CBD because either you go through the Harbor Bridge or Anzac Bridge, and none of them has an easy path. 😢
Hey two dollars. Here's a little tip to save you some time. You can click on any building and then in the top right corner of the information screen you can see the RICO logo. If you click on that it will take you straight to that particular building in the RICO settings. You can do this instead of opening the RICO menu and searching for buildings by name. You're welcome 😊
@@twodollarstwenty I think you also need to build a toll tunnel from the Freeway at Matilda Point that then turns to go to the Northern Suburbs of Dundee, like a bypass built a little later on, similar to the NorthConnex or WestConnex tunnels in Sydney.
Absolutely I and I know tons of others will continue to support and enjoy going to the current CS game and series' creators like yourself will be putting out, and even more so themselves continue to play it more for a good while after CS2 releases. CS2 as you said won't have all the custom assets and mods for a good while unlike CS1, so it will incentivize us to continue to play and watch it while that side of CS2 develops.
almost the same thing happened to me the other week, tryna get to Watsons Bay tkaing the tunnel and ended up on the bridge and had to find the cross city tunnel to get there cos they changed all the lanes
I love Oceania, would definitely still watch it in CS2. It will be super interesting to see how CS1 feels after the release of CS2, and maybe we'll get some nostalgia blast if you continue to revisit Oceania years into the future. And, judging by the new icons and UI in CS2 (the cartoony style might be my least favorite thing about CS2 so far), even just seeing the UI of CS1 once in a while will be great.
New to the channel, did you know that you can directly paint fillers and lane markings from the clipboard instead of pasting it after you make it the default way? See the little thing with the keys to be sure but I think it's alt+ctrl, cheers! Loving the content
Man that highway is _a lot_. As a vancouverite I feel very smug; my city has very little highway. As a Canadian, home of the 401@Dixie near toronto airport, 18 lanes of glory, I cant help but feel like Doug Ford would approve this video, I'm sure a few more lanes will solve the problem. That's what biffa always says right? Its worked wonders for the 401 and the Katie Freeway in texas right?
what are you talking about the warringah is easy to understand, especially since the lanes change based on time of the day and day of week as well. i do all my commuting between north sydney and artarmon by train or foot, but i do know you stay middle from the city until st leonards then go left (and then middle again after tunnel)
I think you also need to build a toll tunnel from the Freeway at Matilda Point that then turns to go to the Northern Suburbs of Dundee, like a bypass built a little later on, similar to the NorthConnex or WestConnex tunnels in Sydney.
You build this city in a more realistic style similar to how I do. Way more interesting than many other utube creaters out there. Too many or them build huge freeways with islands of parts of the city in grids around it...this game is not sim city...the roads can be curved and placed in other angles other than 90°. Love the compact realistic freeway you made...I have tried recreating that same freeway on a past city that crashed when it got too big. When I used to play Cities XL I used to post on a website called XL Nation and one of my realistic cities was used as the main page background...it's been there for many years now.
Not sure if you figured this out, but you can just ban non-transit vehicles with TMPE and add red markings with IMT to create your own bus lanes. Also I'm not sure if it still works, but if it does, Heavy Outside Traffic mod is great for creating traffic dumpster fires.
Maybe it's in all your videos and I just haven't known, but the SimCity 4 music at the end caught me off guard. Would be good fun to release a video for a day called CS2 and it's SC4.
I would watch sunset city for at least for 2 years and 4 months more, with how much i love the way it looks and the interesting setting makes it feel so fun to watch. Oceania is my second favourite, and personally if you kept at least 1 series of cities skylines 1 going id go with sunset city. I dont think i can ask you to split your channel focus into 3 different cities and 2 games 😅 that would be too much
I’d still watch CS1 content even after the release of CS2 and in the beginning with all the mods and user generated content CS1 might actually work better for your style of videos. But I’d also completely understand wanting to dive into the new game and the first one could start to feel dated if CS2 actually delivers on the promises their currently making in the dev insights.
honestly i think itd be fun to see u continue the city, even when cs2 is released, cs2 will probably not look as pretty as modded cs1 for a while anyways. id still watch it, im not abandoning cs1 anytime soon.
10:50 Trees actually reduce noise pollution in CS 1 too. Just tested it in-game.
Edit:250 likes thanks guys

Wow that’s amazing!

yep it was introduced with the free green cities patch :)
@@johnnotownsend6958 thanks, I couldn't be bothered at the time looking up which one 🙂
I would watch Oceania during CS2 I love it
i hope someone somehow makes a game exporter that exports the map design and general road layout to make transitioning builds even just slightly easier
I agree wholeheartedly!
Yes
But, I wanna see New Dollarton first.
And a rebuild of Marble Mountain.
Yep I'd be just as excited for it still

OCEANIA WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
It's been a great Saturday so far.. Akruas's Altengrad, $2.20's Oceania.. time for Infrastructurist?👀

I hope you carry on with both projects. Ill keep watching after CS2 launches. I hate when long running build series are never properly finished.
Didn’t mind waiting the 6 months but so glad it’s back! Also looking forward to cities skyline 2 and you’re first city on there !
Gosh I'm happy to have Oceania back. I really hope the release of CS2 wont be the killer of this series and Sunset City, even though I'm pumped for the new stuff as well!
OH HELL YEAH! So nice to be back!
Glad to see an Oceania episode once again! I’m surprised that it even works after all the updates lol.
Yay
13:45 love the fact, that you could play football and kick ball straight into train track
It’s so good to see that traffic all gone.
You gotta love Oceania though so yeah i would DEFINITELY still watch the videos.
Yes! I would absolutely keep watching Oceania episodes after CS2 launches. A slow phase out would be best, I think
yes i would watch your current series after cities 2 comes out
Yes! So glad you're back on Oceania. I never want to see the end of Oceania until it breaks, even when CS2 is released.
Looks amazing. You might want to add emergency vehicles to the bus off ramp and ban them from the main exit so they’re not getting caught up in traffic
1:08 that looks absolutely beautiful. Definitely something you would see in Sydney’s north shore
its like that thumbnail was made for me to click on it omfg THE BEST

I like the SimCity music playing in the background. My CS music is also Off.
Fun to hear it again
You can tell me that freeway is a blight, but holy Hell Sydney is a gorgeous looking city, even that freeway looks like art.
The workaround the for invisible car is creative and brilliant. Way to go with it and not let it stress you out or ruin the experience. Note taken!
cant wait for the next episode of oceania definitely one of my favorite series
finally Oceania is back!!! Those crazy terrain and complicated road network made it my favorite C:S series on ytb
yes i would most certainly continue watching these series!! please continue them
I love how you built Sydney's most complicated freeway in Oceania and it doesn't jam up the way it would in the United States!
Wow. That looks absolutely amazing. All those details - even the barricade 😄
Awesome WORK! Thanks for sharing your beauties with us!! 👌🏻

2 D 20 PERFECT start!
Really hoping you'll jump into builds in CS2 early on! Since you're the most famous CS2 builder so far (!), I expect that will likely be the case!
10:04 This situation is screaming for guided bus tracks in the middle of the highway, such as the guided bus on the autobahn A40 in Essen, Germany.
The “ah oppsie daisy” at 6:35 made me laugh so hard

Oh and, I can fix the brightness, I was warned about it as well lol

10:50 in CS1 trees do help reduce noise pollution around roads, there's even Chirps about it!
1:39- 1:42 “I hate this freeway and I’m gonna build it anyways.” 😂😂😂
26:46 That truck went right through the road and just drove away on the highway like it was nothing
15:10 "the other side of the bay" us kiwis usually say "across the ditch" so I was slightly confused by that transition
This has the same vibes as the roadworks and "improvements" on the West Gate Fwy in Melbourne too - barriered lanes, crazy laned intersections (Montague St pls), just no bus lanes.
keep building Oceania. it needs you...and the viewers need it!

Man, this intersection in Sydney is a HELL! I hate to go to the CBD because either you go through the Harbor Bridge or Anzac Bridge, and none of them has an easy path. 😢
I'd love to see you do a Melbourne style city :P Oceania looks like a multiverse equivalent of Sydney, I love it !!
That's a pretty neat interchange, and surprisingly compact 🤔

Thanks for using the simcity theme song ♥️
I am ready hyped for CS2 but I am more hyped for sunset city and Oceania, PLEASE KEEP THESE SERIES
Haven't even watched the video yet and I liked because I know it will be a banger
almost the same thing happened to me the other week, tryna get to Watsons Bay tkaing the tunnel and ended up on the bridge and had to find the cross city tunnel to get there cos they changed all the lanes

It must be hard to work on this highway when you've been blessed with how awesome traffic works in playing CS2.
