    About the Project:
Join me as we create a map rich with natural beauties, distant towns and a bustling metropolis. The aim is to create an island that feels as big as a state or territory, including vast biomes, mountains, rivers and an endless coastline. Set in Australia and New Zealand (maybe an island in between), this map takes inspiration from open world video games and the way in which the game devs create such immersive environments, such as GTA 4 and 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 and the Mafia 4 maps. To take it one step further, every thing on the map should feel unique and distinct. No city district, town or mountain should feel or look the same.

So nice to be back in Oceania, it’s been a while, Airports looking so fire! So when you wanted to create that small pond, but the water source circle was too big so you scrapped that idea, this is what I was telling you about the other day with the invisible water sources I created for the water park. You’ll soon be able to do that small pond with no issues 👍

I think the reason why no taxis are using your taxi stand is because you only allowed buses to use the road. If you look at around 11:45 you can see that only the bus icon is green and that the taxi icon next to it is crossed off. So that could be the reason. Great video btw 😊

    • @x-90

@@egill624 that’s because too many people are using taxis. They’ll only go to the stands if they have no passengers. If you want taxis to use the stands you’re gonna need really good transit

Remember realistic parking adds a whole new aspect of the game it makes parking extremely crucial in many builds. This means cars will never once despawn until it’s owner is dead. It’s a fun challenge.
PS: sometimes cims will just straight up abandon their cars 15 miles away from their house and take public transit it isn’t really much of a issue though.

  • @mauricekloos9869
    @mauricekloos9869 Год назад

In cities skylines, taxiranks are only used when the depot isnt in a certain area, because otherwise they would just drive cross-map empty and cause even more congestion. I would say just place props to make it seem occupied. Airport taxiranks in real life however, are much different. In case of London Heathrow and I think the one in Melbourne too, you have just this one massive taxi rank, which is 4 wide with room for over a 150 taxi's. The way it works is; Marshalls within small taxi-ranks below each terminal, order more taxi's from the main large one. That is why these ranks always seem so quiet, but in reality there is much more to it. The one you saw on google earth could've been one of those ranks but it looked to be really empty. Either way the depot you build could be seen as both a rank as a depot. Besides that the build looks awesome!

Depending on your name of the airport, you can think of a 4-letter code for the airport and use that. For example, Los Angeles has "KLAX" where LAX is pretty well known as Los Angeles International Airport and K the country code for continental America.
For your Dundee you could maybe use "DDX" and have that as huge letters in the entrance. ODDX would be the 4 letter ICAO code for Oceania Dundee International Airport.
Its always a great combo to think of these details like as it would be a real airport.
    Cheers.

I'm sure this has been mentioned but RE: busses not routing correctly , it's a good idea in TM:PE in 'Policies' to check the option for busses that says 'Busses may ignore lane arrows'. This (or changing the arrows themselves) will fix a lot of these issues!

You could put that plane on a pedestal in the middle of a roundabout at the entrance of the airport. Additionally the prop "light artwork ring 72 pillars" or "light artwork ring 36 pillars" from DeCzaah can look quite nice around the plane.

Fun suggestion: make the airport code DND, which is Dundee Airport in Scotland, or DUD which is Dunedin in New Zealand. After all, Dunedin kind of fits into the Oceania theme.

To help you make the airport more realistic, I would add another terminal on the other side of the Airport (around the area where you designed the roundabout from the last episode). Maybe you can extend the land on that side a bit further and add an international/national terminal there. Sydney, Perth and a few other australian cities do it that way. This might also help your traffic problems on the taxiways, if the planes have multiple areas to taxi to. Currently all important areas (Cargo as well as passengers) are on the same spot. To connect that terminal with the road network of Oceania, I would build a tunnel which leads underneath the airport to the new terminal.
Also about the abbreviation of the airport: Airport abbreviations are normally changed variants of the so-called ICAO-Code which is, for example in the case of Sydney YSSY. the Y is the country code of Australia, while the S marks the closest big city, which is in this case Sydney. The SY at the end is therefore just the abbreviation of Sydney. To put it a bit simpler:
    Y - Australia
    S - Sydney Area
    SY - Sydney Airport
Applying this logic, you get to the IATA Code of Sydney Airport, which is SYD. Nearly all australian airports have this logic. If you want to apply this logic to Oceania, the Airport would have to have the ICAO Code YDDU and the IATA Code DUN/DUE.
I hope this makes sense to you :).

If you are looking for names, what kind of naming convention are you looking for? The easiest is just the city/regional naming scheme. Next is after a political/local hero figure. The last is whatever political favor was granted to approve of the naming scheme.
The next is the airport identifier. Usually a series of letters, starting with a country identifier letter (see CGP Grey's video for more information). Thus, if you are looking for an good airport identifier code, I would recommend: PDND, following the ICAO's guidelines.
But my preference would be naming it after either a war hero from the area and/or a city mayor who was loved by all. If you need a name for said individual, try: Steven H. Johnson III, 1921-1999.

Apparently, at the moment the blogger has a record: "Peptar" with approximately 74k population, but he still has part of the river on the map, "unique buildings" are not used (I can be mistaken in the name, I mean buildings from the list in which there is a space elevator and something similar), he didn’t even remove the interchanges underground, not to mention the crossroads of the highways, and didn’t narrow all the roads, and I’m sure that you will probably still have a bunch of people to raise far beyond 100,000, and show all your skills! I would love to see what happens with your serious approach
