In the recent few years motorcycling has really spoken to me. It has been my meditation, my escape and my therapy.
This is by far the best short of motorcycling I have ever watched please keep making more like this. The quote about past and present hit home for me.

My wife is losing her battle with her stage 4 terminal cancer and I bought a T100. My friends couldn’t understand why I started riding again.
“MAYBE THE FUTURE IS COMING TOO FAST AND THE PAST DISAPPEARS TOO QUICKLY. BUT TIME CAN STAND STILL AND I’M PRESENT. THIS IS MY MEDITATION, MY RE-DIRECTION OF THOUGHTS. MY WAY TO FIND PEACE”. I’ve just spent 5 weeks at Newcastle Freeman Cancer hospital as she underwent gruelling chemo and radiotherapy. We are hoping in her case that the consultant was right when he said it was curative. The only picture in the little flat they let us use was a dog on a sidecar, a huge Great Dane, being driven through London this spring. It made me think and we bought a Ural for when my wife recovers so we can have adventures for however long we’ve got. Before this, cancer was something I thought happened to “other people”, now my perspective is changed completely which I think why I like you found this short film incredible. We just returned from hospital today and things are definitely different. My only definite plan is to go on one of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Rides to raise money for cancer and mens mental health (probably the Manchester one on 21/5/23). Anyway I hope the bike is bringing you good things.

some people ask why I ride a motorcycle
some ask because they're curious and some because
they perceive it to be dangerous, fool hardy,
too much risk
perhaps there's some truth to that
I'm sure there are many different answers to the question too, but,
here's mine
you see most of the day I'm wrapped up in thoughts
thoughts of the future, of the past,
and as someone clever once put it, living in the past
can make you depressed
and living in the future can make you anxious
if you're living in the present though
in the NOW
you are at PEACE
trouble is
it's not always easy to live in the present
mediation and quiet I hear some say
but I'm no monk
and time to sit still and do nothing just doesn't work for me
sometimes
if I look at the bigger picture
it can help
that we are right now all here on a rock
that someone named earth
floating in space, speeding and spinning at
thousands of miles per hour
our being, our consciousness, highly improbable
yet
here we are
the latest incarnation of billions of years tinkering among
countless generations and individual beings
but the feeling, is fleeting, hard to hold on to
I don't know what
but something happens when I ride
not all the time
little pockets
small moments of peace
maybe the future is coming too fast and the past disappears too quickly
but time can stand still
and I'm present
this is my meditation
my redirection of thoughts
my way to find peace
as for those that say too much risk...
they simply haven't felt what we have!

do it, my dad did that with me 40 years ago, i´m 52 and i will love motorcycles for ever
My dad bought me a Sears 106 cc motorcycle in 1966. I was sixteen. I am still riding to this day. I am 71 years old and I ride a Honda ST1300 2004. It brings me joy and it is, in my opinion, meditation. Riding a motorcycle is very spiritual. Going fast is a way to remember that a part of us is divine. We remember that as spirits we could travel very fast over the surface of the earth. I know it sounds crazy, but while I ride, I do not experience anxiety, nor fear. A motorcycle burns fuel, eat energy, but gives back so much that I feel it is alive. That makes me feel as well more alive. I just cannot foresee the day I will have to quit motorcycling. I do not want to loose my happiness...

We weren't too sure what kind of response this one would get and were a little hesitant to make the film and upload but thanks to comments like yours it was well worth it, you have released us of our nervous anxiety. We all start somewhere and i'm pleased to hear your riding, I hope it is helping and allows you at least a little escape! It takes great courage to make small steps and courage to leave a comment too, so congratulations. I suffer from depression too.
I started to ride my Motorcycle over a year ago .
Probably She , my baby , my angel with two wheels saved me.
Made me feel alive again.

Why i ride is the feeling of the wind force against me the feeling on long winding roads the thrill of the turn of my throttle the pick uo of speed the hairs that stand on the back of my neck the way i sit upright to slow down to tilt the handle bars on a curve and duck down again when i hit the throttle and the grin on my face is over whelming i get home put the bike in the garage make a cuppa sit down and relive my journey a deep feeling of satisfaction...

This is why I gave up my car over 2 years ago to ride my cb750 nighthawk year round. Went through a severe withdrawal and my motorcycle became my only sanctuary from the suffering.

When you jumped up on the sadle, I started to tear up reminded me of my father when he was alive. I never got the chance to ride with him. At times I kinda feel he's next to me in the middle of the night riding freely side by side. Thank you for this wonderful work of art.

I was totally trying not to be a hater and say something stupid... but now you made me cry... I lost my father recently... I wish I could share a moment like that with him. This grief made me very sour and stupid. I will try to ride more often and think I'm riding with him and for him. I'll go to meditate to the forest honouring his spirit. their spirits will always be with us and we still can ride with them. Now you just gave me a reason to ride.

I love how the film just panned outwards in the end until the earth got lost in the mess of galaxies.
Beautiful reminder that all of our feelings, our past and future, despair and anxiety are all contained in this lovely blue planet that ultimately fades into nothing in the vastness of the universe. But so are all of our cares, hopes, and loves.
In the end we are responsible for our own risk, happiness, and inner peace. It's our right to pursue them anyway we want as long as we don't cause anyone hurt.

When a surfer jumps on a motorcycle in jeans and trainers and an open face helmet, great explanation to why some of us jump on a bike, mine is setting the bike up to you as best you can and it's all about the corners and very twisty roads. And please dress for a slide! not a look at me ride!

The horror of the pandemic has shattered my meditation practice. I was okay before this emergency but now, I sit and I think of what may or might happen, and what has happened. But motorcycling has been an oasis for my soul. Because, in addition to making my mind still and bringing me into the present moment, it does this while adding the element of joy. And as a fellow Bonneville owner, it has been enough to offset the horror and let me regain some peace of mind. Always, it has done this for me. Not every ride but many rides throughout the year the magic just happens. Its not unlike when your favorite band hits the third song of the second set and goes into over drive and you look over at your friends and you all smile. Because, for a short moment, you are back. You are you again and its wonderful.

You know that feeling when you've been riding for miles, when you're in the "zone", hitting the apexes(apex's?) then you stop at service station for gas, coffee and a smoke miles from home and the world seems in slow motion? I love that. Zen in the art of motorcycle riding.

I've recently turned 70 years of age and I've been riding since I was 14 driving a CZ175 with a velorex sidecar. Now ive had the pleasure of riding many sidecar bikes in my last 55 years of riding but my question to you all is When is it time to give up riding?

You find how to explain why we ride on motorcycles, i never find the words when someone ask me '' Why you ride motorcycle, it's dangerous, uncomfortable '' etc etc...
