I carry it quite often in combination with a small bladed knife to use in most public arenas. It's great in the kitchen doing anything from making a sandwich to cutting vegetables. Try reaching in the bottom of a jar of mayonnaise or jelly with a small knife. It aint happening. It also has an intimidation factor if you need that. If your knife doesn't open and close smoothly it's because it needs to be used and broken in. Opening and closing it multiple times per day will make it smooth. Also a drop or two of olive oil on the pivot point works wonders, and it's the best choice for a knife you're going to use for food prep. Stop eating 3 in one oil. I never use a pocket clip so none of that applies to me.
I agree the Voyager Xl is still good to carry in a normal pants . But it´s on the bigger side of knives to be honest. So I understand it´s not for everyone. When you have a knife collection, then go for Cold Steel XL models! If you want only one, single knife for everything, I would say go with a Recon1 with a Drop Point blade and you´ll be fine. (But there´s a high risk of knife addiction...) Me myself have many Cold Steel folders, love´em all 🙂
Love this large cold steel. I love larger blades and I can’t understand why people don’t like larger knives. The smallest knife I like to carry has a 3 3/4 inch blade
honestly rather get a fixed blade, for something that size. Just seems awkward and not so sure on the fit and finish of the cold steel folders some times...
I have a large clip-point voyager in Aus 8 that I bought years ago. I wanted to love the knife because it is a useful size and carries well in the pocket, but the Tri-Ad lock sticks so bad it bruises my thumb to release the lock. Here it is years later and it is still every bit as stiff, despite my attempts to break it in. Cold Steel needs to address this issue in quality control.

Me too!! A blade with 4" is just the beginning of neat, useful knife 🙂
The Voyager XL Drop Point is $60.00 and the Large Voyager with 4" blade is $52.00 on Amazon right now (10/6/24).... 👍 🖖
I went with a Rajah II for my "big fucking knife".

They have...the more modern versions of their knives are much easier to release the lock, and the actions are much smoother thsan they used to be.
I don't know. I've seen some recent reviews with the AUS 10 steel and people are still complaining. @@ottergt
@@Man_Cave mine's great. also the blade's so heavy you can just swing it out.
