I've carried the 5.5" ColdSteel Talwar for 10 years. Nutnfancy called it the pocket sword 😅. The talwar serves as my pistol back up, or for use in close-in situations like an animal attack for example. It still has its factory edge (which is WICKED SHARP). I like folding knives cause there's no sheath to lose. I just got a cold steel t lite and Frenzy 2 and I am enjoying them. They are such a pleasure to play around with in the woods where no one can be scared by a Goth with a giant pocket knife. I usually wear a full face of makeup as well the clothes and accessories of Goth fashion so people can get really freaked out by vampire playing with Big knives.😊 Love the videos 🖤🩶🤍

It was an impressive like 4 inch blade. There wasn't really anything much this big at the time. I got one right away and they were pretty pricey. I removed the pocket clip and carried it in an on your belt case with a belt loop and a cover that closed with velcro. I loved that thing and carried it everywhere, everyday for years. Haven't used it for years but it sits with many other of my family of Cold Steel Knives in one of my display cases. I was in Home Depot one winter and I needed to buy 6 feet of this plastic trim I was going to put on the edge of a table I was making. I looked around for about ten minutes and couldn't locate someone to cut off what I needed and write me a ticket with the ID number to present to the cashier. I had some kind of Flu Bug and wasn't feeling so good. So I was in a hurry. I decided to do some self serve action. So I wrote the product number down, then I wheeled off the length I needed measuring with my tape measure. A twenty five foot tape measure is also one of my EDCs. And her eyes bugged out and she stepped backed without saying another word. I took it to the cash, gave the number, paid and left. I guarantee, no matter what the situation. You snap out that Voyager XL, with that loud click as it opens, what comes with it is instant respect.

I've carried a xl Voyager and a 6 inch tilite for years. They just do everything well. The Voyager is either pocket or belt carried in a sheath and the tilite is on the right hand side. Cheers!
I got this same knife in November and I’m still so happy with it - it’s just the most super serious of the voyagers imho - for me the tanto is the perfect blade shape and very underrated, most vids are of the other blade shape, great vid!
As I get older, I tend to carry this, not at work, that's my endura, but when my wife and daughter are out hiking the trails and going into certain places I feel very safe with this blade.
I just wanna say, man I am glad I found your channel I love this content and agree wholeheartedly with your tale on this video. I've watched at least a dozen of your vids by now and each one is a homerun imho.
I have my voyager clip point since 2016 and I'm always happy when he is in my pocket! Is а conversation starter, good edc and most of all good self defance tool is good because is still a folder!
The Cold Steel Voyager XL Tanto was the very first cold steel mega folder that i purchased. I loved it and was addicted from that point on. In my quest for the PERFECT mega folder, I next purchased the Rajah 2. I absolutely adore that blade, but after pocket carrying for 2 and a half years i wanted something lighter. My third purchase was the Hold Out 1 XL. It is the best of everything that i was looking for. And it is what i currently carry to this day. It's the closest to blade perfection that I have found. Anyways, great video, and I apologize for the book .
Just want to say I'm a long time subscriber and love your channel. If you want a REAL self defense folder try the cold steel serrated spartan. It's a little heavy but we'll worth the weight! Have a great day and keep up your awsome videos
I have both the serrated Spartan and the serrated voyager vaquero xl. Both are awesome self defense knives. Vaquero xl is actually more comfortable to carry for me. Both are excellent slicers and stabbers. The blades are more narrow and a bit more delicate, especially the tip, so they stay in the pocket solely for self defense.
Cold Steel Voyagers are absolute tanks. Got a XL drop point in my pocket right now. Strong side with the blade face forward. Pull out....flick....and in business.
I love my XL voyagers. I have different versions and usually carry them "appendix carry". It's light, reliable and as you say gives plenty of reach 😊 Their serrated versions are so cool 😊
Friend, having the equipment and skills to use it may save your life!! Maybe even more important, it can save the lives of those you love! Or even a total stranger! Please consider that. God Bless and keep you Safe, gg
I own both a Ti-Lite VI and a Luzon XL,and love them both. I also had a Luzon Medium as an EDC utility knife but has gone MIA. The Ti-Lite is all metal and fairly heavy. The Luzon is much lighter, like the Voyager it opens quick. Cold Steel has done an excellent job on all their XL folders. The only problem is there are too many options! Deciding on which one you want is difficult 'cause they're all good.
Iv carried some of the earliest versions of the voyagers since the mid nineties and let me tell you from people to shark’s alligators hogs deer and lot of fish they have hardly ever let me down ❤️🔥
I’m not a voyager guy, more of a talwar guy. The handles are similar in shape, though different materials. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it icepick grip edge out, aka reverse grip edge out. It’s the most comfortable way for maximum stabbing power when long reach isn’t necessary and you can get in close. The triad lock’s the strongest lock and I trust my fingers on it. I might be a bit worried if I had to penetrate through something hard and slippery like a car hood. Against a living target? Not worried at all. The edge in ice pick grip’s not the most comfortable, so I’d not use it ever.
I thought this was like a joke knife when I first bought it, but after having it for a while it stores really welling and out of the way first of all and with the tri lock its almost damn near a fixed blade. Great knife I have a large voyager Clip point and a large voyager tonto serrated edge all great knives
I have almost every CS XL folder. Love them and EDC one every day. For the Voyager series, I have the XL tanto, clip point, and vaquero serrated blades. I don't carry the vaquero much, I bought it for the look of it. Don't really think about them for defense, I have a pistol for that. Probably carry the Voyager tanto, clip point, Espada large, Counter Point, 4 max scout, SR1 tanto, and Talwar the most
i always have 2 on each front pocket as EDC... even on my sleep and SRK under my pillows... also has ti-lite 6" on each car and espadaXL G10 and CRKT skeggox on my body bag... oh and 2x DART on each pockets when i go to work, coz peaceful
I’ve been carrying large and extra large folders made by cold-steel since 2017 when Texas changed the knife laws to allow it ,I also carry a firearm , and a multi tool such as a leatherman wave for every day cutting and the cold steel reserved for emergency defense / cutting tool , my favorite one to carry is the large Espada with the S35 vn blade
I have both the voyager xl Kris and xl vaquero serrated. What you said about reach is right on. The way the handle is configured you get a rock solid grip holding it at the furthest back position and it makes for over 8 inches of knife extending out past your gripping hand- that’s like having the reach fixed blade with an 8 inch blade. You’re also right on that anyone seeing that length pointed at them is going to have their animal survival brain go- “NO.” We instinctively know in our guts if there is a very high likelihood of getting cut. Still looking forward to when you get an xl espada in your hand and you I’ll feel that safety factor you feel with the voyager xl be multiplied a few times brother!😢
Okay, to bring you up to date. Your video has caused me to not only buy the Voyager Clip Point XL, but the Rajah 2, the Luzon, large and medium, and last but not least, the Espada G10 XL. Yeah, my name is James and I'm a Knife-a-Holic :)But I am trying. Your channel is very good, and I tell people where I got said influence for the big Cold Steel Folders. Stay safe and keep em sharp, Keep your eyes on the horizon, and your ear to the ground. Its getting pretty weird out there.
Good content. I have been a Cold Steel fan for over 25 years now. Had the old school Voyager & now have the current one. Both are yhe Large version, 4 inch blade. Also have 4 Recon 1s, diferent versions through the years. Been thinking of getting the Xtra large version here lately.
Good video as usual. I wholeheartedly agree that using a good folding knife in the ice pick(sometimes called the reverse grip) is not something I prefer because of even the remote possibility of the blade collapsing/folding. You posted a video a while back about an OTF(Out the front) knife and you alluded to not being comfortable using stabbing techniques with it and again I agree. I carry various knives(folding/fixed blades) depending on what I'm doing that day. I also train in Escrima every day with the particular blade I'm going to carry. Being retired has its' perks...:) The Raja II is a future purchase because I like your review on it and I think it will be a good addition to my current carry rotation. One thing that is nice about a good longer folding knife that sticks out of the ends of your hand when closed is that you can use it to give hammer fist strikes more impact. There are Escrima techniques that use Pocket Sticks and it's worth researching if you want to learn more about this topic. I think the Raja II will give me options I don't currently have considering that all my current folding knives have blades of between 3 to 4 inches. Keep up the great work. Frank in South Texas.
The triad lock is the strongest locking system imo. It doesn’t have the weird button that you can accidentally disengage like the shark and atlas lock. If you aren’t stabbing into a brick wall or a car hood, why worry? All my xl folders with triad lock are sturdy.
I love my XL Vaquero, as I mentioned before. To be honest a 5.5" blade isn't cartoonish at all in actual use, and it's not that hard to choke up for say peeling a fruit or something. What really kills some big blades for finer tasks actually is the weight, not the length, and Voyagers are pretty light considering the size. The only issue preventing me from using XL blades more as a standalone EDC are the long handles. Sometimes you need to use your knife in confined spaces and when you choke up all that extra butt ends up banging against all sorts of stuff (try peeling an apple in your car for example). I keep a small Opinel or something like that on me as a secondary for that kind of situation, but overtime carrying two blades can get annoying to some.
Samurai Woodsman made me laugh out loud! I love this knife, it was like 40 bucks on Amazon. If I cant carry my Smith 642 or lcp in my pocket, this blade makes me walk just a little taller. Doing some tests, this one is great. I also like the ti lite 6 inch serrated kriss blade. It's a pocket sword, but really light and skinny. Deploys quickly with a flick, a lot like this one. Those serrations rip and tear and are really the business. Easy to keep sharp with a ten dollar lansky sharpener. If I had to fight with a pocket knife for some reason, well, it's a bad day. But I'd want my cold steel spartan serrated. That knife moves and chips and shreds, and one good slash to chest abdomen or limb is very likely to take the fight out of...whatever it is you're fighting! I think you'd love it. Grabbed mine this Easter during one of midway sales. Great company, fasted shipping in the biz.
I had no interest in the voyager series till a knife company accidentally included a Voyager XL Tanto in my sword order. Ever since then, it’s been part of my EDC rotation for the last 10 years. I have even used it to chop through bush like a machete.
My thoughts? Wanted one for years. Found a serrated xl tanto on ebay today (holy grail in XL voyagers). Bought it ! Flying to me right now from Cali, the home of CS! Gold :-)
I've been thinking about getting this one because I want a large folder. Where I live, I can carry any size folder concealed but fixed blades need to be sheathed and fully visible at all times. I don't really want people to know that I'm carrying a knife in public, it can freak them out. Those are the reasons I carry a folder and not a fixed blade.
@@JDUSA I live in California. State law allows us to carry a folder of any size concealed except in schools, hospitals, and government buildings; where the blade can be no longer than 2.5 inches. Most large cities have other length restrictions laws also.
I used to carry a mid-sized folder as EDC, but when I got my CS Voyager XL clip point, it took their place. If I ever need to deploy a blade in a confrontational situation, I want that extra 1.5" to let the aggressor know what he's going up against.
Love my Cold Steel Voyager Tanto point with serrated edge!! Its a beast of a knife but i cant bring myself to use it because its so awesome looking lol i dont want to ruin rhe blade.🔪🗡️🇺🇸👍
I been wanting that knife for a long time but not in the Tannto blade. Cold Steel is one of the only knife company's I never bought from and I don't know why because I hear a lot of good things about them.
Great review. I have several of the L A R G E COLD STEELs..I’m not a fan of the WAVE… it’s great on a defensive move quick and works well…but Ive damm near cut my fingers off with the wave feature… why I may be going into the voyager Tanto… no wave feature. Thx will be checking back.
Whip it out Wednesday??? Got to love an XL blade, i have 2 Recon 1 XL Tanto & 1 in Clip point that are great to carry (among other XL's) also the Off Grid XL's are real nice like the Viper & Caimen
I thought the same, and I was eyeing the silent hero 4 knife for almost a year now. It was out of stock for months, but when it came back in stock I just couldn’t pull the trigger to get it. The sheath is just too bulky and heavy. I can just slip an xl folder in and it’s more comfortable.
The only thing that I would do to those voyager knifes is take the pocket clip off sand down both sides of handle with 80 grit sandpaper. I emailed stick man told him they should change the handle material like the rajha 2 or SR1 lite handle material way more comfortable.
To open this dialog, I'm a BIG fan of Cold Steel. Cold Steel and Spyderco make up the major share of my "kept" blades. The balance of the collection are mostly all pretty handles and such, but the two majority share holders have been with me starting in the mid 1980's. Then again, I'm old enough to remember buying my first real KaBar Mk2 Fighter at $30 retail, just out of high school. Pastimes like you and I enjoy are not very welcome in the place I live; they have very curious and often conflicting laws out here, many of which are classified as damned if you do and damned if you don't type laws designed to make one either run afoul of a city law, or run afoul of a state law by simply obeying one or the other law, like open carry in a sheath. So folders do rule the day out my way, at least in the most populous county which is my neighbor. That said, the Voyager XL class is the one class of CS tools that I have zero of, which does seem a bit strange upon reflection. My two most frequently carried tools are both serrated, though they are never carried alone. One tool is for emergencies only and the other EDC item is a slip joint folder for public display if called upon; only ne'er-do-well's with bad intent might see the emergency tool, though hopefully not, while John Q may see the other tool slicing a steak, cutting some twine, or opening a letter. There is one Voyager XL that is on my mind though, that is a serrated Vaquero model. Again, nothing but an emergency tool out this way, but like you so eloquently stated, it has a presence when deployed, which might render further unfortunate events unnecessary. After all, nobody really wins a knife fight; one participant goes to the hospital or morgue and the other, well, to prison or gets sued out of existence. Such is life in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia. Ice pick, or as I call it, hammer grip, is a last choice for any brand of folder. That said, if it became an only choice for some reason, the one brand that might allow one to keep their digits would most likely be a Cold Steel product. The Pocket Bushman comes to mind first, but the grip sucks, then any large folder with a Tri-Ad lock comes in next and is the last possibility for this chicken. There are other tools with double locks, CRKT's M16 or M21 with their auto-lock come to mind, but for the most part, with other double locks you need to slide something into place to engage it, by the time you deploy that extra step, you've probably been cut. As always and in most pursuits, practice makes for fewer screw-ups. May God have mercy on us all.
I've carried the Vaquero Grande 6 inch serrated folder from Cold Steel EDC for 30 years. No one looks at me like a cartoon when I show it to them. Their eyes get big and they nervously giggle. 😦 I even kept a wild large dog at bay once with just that "snap". It was a blizzard and I went out to warm up my car. I didn't see this dog until I was almost back to my front door. It was stalking me. I had never seen that dog in my rural area before. Adult Sheppard mix? His head was down. I stopped, snapped it open and we just looked at each other for a few moments, sizing each other up. He turned around and walked back the way he came. I can't say I was ready to crap myself but I knew this was an important time in my life. This was potentially it. I know I would've gotten a few stitches but I would've won. Because I would've had to. No one would've come to help me. No one would've heard me yell in that blizzard. It would've been too late if they did. I didn't carry a G in those years. I do now.
What do I think... What do I THINK! I made a promise to myself and a good friend to not buy any more knives. I've already broken that promise. So I might as well go whole hog. So, what do I think. I think it will be in my collection soon :)
I used to have this one, and wish I still had it,,, 😢,, I'm sat here with my Spyderco Military in my pocket, and have a strange inferiority complex for some reason,, 🤣🤣
I have a Voyager XL Clip Point I carry daily. I wish Cold Steel made a Voyager XXL like they did in the past. Sadly, they don't. I'd like to buy another one, because the Rajah 2 and Espada XL are too heavy when also carrying a full size 9mm pistol. I really want the spear point model, but the tanto version gets better reviews. Tantos are great for piercing. I just wish they made it with a flat grind instead of a hollow grind.
When I was bouncing in clubs years ago, I always carried a xl voyager tanto every day. One night about 3, two meth heads tried to force their way in, with framing hammers as weapons. They wanted to rob the place. It was after close so the doors locked and would only open from the inside, so the attempt to rush the door didn't work. I came out because people were shouting for me and found myself face to face with two dudes holding framing hammers. They both jumped when I pulled the knife out, which I did immediately. When I walked at one of them holding the knife, they both broke and ran. Tried to hit me with their car. The knife scared the hell out of them and they literally ran.
I like folders, but I can’t see any point in carrying a folder that big when I could just carry a fixed blade and in most places folders that big aren’t even legal to carry
I'll answer you, Ice Pick with a Tri-Ad lock and this quality of steel isn't more reliable than most folding knives, it's more reliable than most fixed blades. Cold Steel is THE world greatest company in terms of making robust knives without gutting your wallet, it gained fame because of that, it was the company philosophy at the beginning and still is today, the Tri-AD lock is used by military, special forces, C.I.A, ER, bushcrafters and so on, i personnally use it, and i'm a 200lb+ grappler jiujitsu coach who lift and isn't quite what you can call a delicate person with his knife, i just always keep them sharp before i use them and clean and dry after i use them, you don't have to worry about that.
It's a great knife but It's illegal in most countries to carry this length of knife. I carry a CS mini Recon Tanto knife on one end of a 18-in dog choker chain. Basically it's a chain that has two 1-in steel rings at either end. That way I can carry the legal length knife and when I flick the chain the blade automatically opens and I have a knife at the end of a steel whip. There is a Chinese martial art that uses a knife at the end of a rope.
I don't leave my home without an Cold Steel XL in my pocket, for over 2 years now AND that Tanto right there, is definitely in my rotation!!! Great video Daniel... The Recon 1 Is one of Cold Steels' best folders.

I own the clip point version of this. I have never received a folding knife as sharp as this out of the box, regardless of price or brand.
That's my EDC and I have two of them. It sits in my right hand pocket of my jacket. I do not use pocket clips, ever. Sometimes I carry it in my back pocket on certain pairs of pants. But it's always close by.
It snaps out fast into action and I close it with one hand also. Point it on a 45 toward the ground and push in the back lock. Not only is the XL Voyager a fantastic knife they are a great value.
I picked up my half serrated clip point for 35 bucks ten or so years ago.
$35 😕
I don't think so. Maybe $135 give or take $10.....
@@redfaux74 this is not the Espada.
XL Voyagers can be bought for 60-80 bucks depending on blade shape.
@BlueWingedRino - Are you getting them from Cold Steel direct? There are Chinese copies that are not even close to CS quality.
I'll be checking that out for sure. I just "lost" a few that I need replaced. Also, GSM is about to lose their legal agreement thru Lynn sometime within 1 year. I have the Large Voyager. Excellent grip and the 4” blade is legal in NJ and NY.
I've got one and it's surprising how comfortable it carries in the front pocket of my pants.
This is without a doubt my favorite pocket knife.
Wow !!! Looks like an Espada folder. Impressive steel.
As I get older, I tend to carry this, not at work, that's my endura, but when my wife and daughter are out hiking the trails and going into certain places I feel very safe with this blade.
I have 3 "big" folders, CRKT M21-04g, CRKT Ritual, and a Kershaw Lucha, they aren't huge, but I love em. The Ritual is *really * good at skinning deer
Man I just found your channel and I'm enjoying your vids. I'm subbing.
Carrying the Voyager XL as we speak.
Appreciate you my friend!
I just wanna say, man I am glad I found your channel I love this content and agree wholeheartedly with your tale on this video. I've watched at least a dozen of your vids by now and each one is a homerun imho.
I appreciate that!
I have my voyager clip point since 2016 and I'm always happy when he is in my pocket!
Is а conversation starter, good edc and most of all good self defance tool is good because is still a folder!
I had the old model of that back in the day. Think it was my first cold steel. Bad ass
Appreciate it my friend! I’ll probably end up getting that knife
Cold Steel serrated XL vaquero voyager ! Lynn Thompson's favourite EDC
Love batons too 😊
I think you are right , definitely big advantage big knife like this going to carry without a sheath 👍👍👍
My absolute favorite is the Voyager Vaquero XL serrated. But I never sharpen it. Is only for self-defense.
I love my XL voyagers. I have different versions and usually carry them "appendix carry". It's light, reliable and as you say gives plenty of reach 😊 Their serrated versions are so cool 😊
The irony of it is I hate violence and fighting but love knives and martial arts😊
Friend, having the equipment and skills to use it may save your life!! Maybe even more important, it can save the lives of those you love! Or even a total stranger!
Please consider that. God Bless and keep you Safe, gg
Mick Dundee - that's not a knife , this is a KNIFE 🔪😜
Love me some Coldsteel blade brother ❤
The Voyager XL Tanto is my favorite folder of all time. I carry one everyday. I have the serrated as well. I also like the cold steel tiger claw.
THAT is the one! I love it!
I highly recommend these Cold Steel XL folding defense knives.
I edc the cold steel espada xl along with my leatherman surge
Absolutely love this channel
Appreciate you my friend 🙂
Cool Video 👍
Thank U for the info and links 👍
Will order it
One of my faves 💪🏽💯💪🏽💯
War fighting Wednesdays would be a good one.
Love it!
Yoi got one 👍
That's a Beastly Blade and Excellent Combat EDC 👍
Whoops auto correct..it doesn't chip it chops lol. That aus 10 is decent steel!
$40? 😮 in Canada they are on sale at $120.
@johnnywishbone932 geez...did you check amazon? Yeah man, 40 usd...April of this year
Espada 5.5 and Talwar 5.5😉
Okay, I have now purchased the Rajah 2, and the Luzon XL. Good for EDC Self Defense.
Carried one of these a while back! Went "missing", have not replaced, may have to get another!! Good, sturdy, versatile knife!! Blsgs, gg
I had no interest in the voyager series till a knife company accidentally included a Voyager XL Tanto in my sword order. Ever since then, it’s been part of my EDC rotation for the last 10 years. I have even used it to chop through bush like a machete.
I carry a 6 inch ti lite
Wow
My thoughts? Wanted one for years. Found a serrated xl tanto on ebay today (holy grail in XL voyagers). Bought it ! Flying to me right now from Cali, the home of CS! Gold :-)
Love this knife. Came razor sharp. Don’t need it but it sure is fun!
Good point!!
I’m curious, what state allows you to carry any size folder? I’m from NY
I carry a Tuff Lite with my Voyager XL
What is better than a Cold Steel XL Folding Knife??
Several of them 🙂
Yep that's a awesome knife owned 3 of them just serated tanto a do all every thing knife
I own this knife this thing is scary sharp. This is my EDC I love this thing.
Would you happen to know of a sheath that can be used for scout carry on this knife? Thanks.
Not right off my friend, but you could probably check with a custom sheath maker
"I can stick this in my pocket and I'm carrying around five inches of madness" - Cold Steel should use this as an advertising tagline!
Agreed!😂
Whip it out Wednesday??? Got to love an XL blade, i have 2 Recon 1 XL Tanto & 1 in Clip point that are great to carry (among other XL's) also the Off Grid XL's are real nice like the Viper & Caimen
Hahahhaha I LOVE it
Personally I prefer a fixed blade knife. But i do love my cold steel verdict in aus-10a. Its 3in but it can do a lot.
Thank you for sharing my friend! Good stuff
Talk of brandishing makes me want to hear your take on unlock codes.
I've carried the Vaquero Grande 6 inch serrated folder from Cold Steel EDC for 30 years.
No one looks at me like a cartoon when I show it to them. Their eyes get big and they nervously giggle. 😦
I even kept a wild large dog at bay once with just that "snap".
I do now.
Samurai Woodsman would be a great show lol
Plz do the cold steel chaos push dagger it's a all around scary weapon and would love to see ifnyou can determine if there is a tang
What do I think... What do I THINK! I made a promise to myself and a good friend to not buy any more knives. I've already broken that promise. So I might as well go whole hog. So, what do I think. I think it will be in my collection soon :)
I think you need it 🙂👍👍🤣
@@411Outdoors Okay I did it, but I ordered the Cold Steel 29AXC Voyager Clip 5 1/2" Plain Edge. I just like the look better :)
I used to have this one, and wish I still had it,,, 😢,,
I'm sat here with my Spyderco Military in my pocket, and have a strange inferiority complex for some reason,, 🤣🤣
I just wish they made it with a flat grind instead of a hollow grind.
this tanto version or other blade shape for self defence ?
If I had to choose between Tanto or most others for self defense it would be tanto
I've ice picked the hell out of dead hardwood with tri-ad lock knives. That tanto, btw It will do a skull, bro. Now worries.
I'd love to have one but here in Rhode Island the blade has to 3 inches
Some states are more restricted for sure
I carry my Voyager xl tanto half cerrated everywhere always daily. I'm naked without it. It's equally important to me as my pistol.
Tanto looks great, but vaquero serrated is a way to go for me.
Coldsteel vaquero xl serrated my edc.
Should be G10 instead of plastic.
I carry a small folding knife ( blade 3 inches long with saw like teeth ) it will cut thur almost anything.
ESPADA
Nice and Awesome Folder, but not for me; "I am strictly a Fixed Blade man".
I carry a CS mini Recon Tanto knife on one end of
a 18-in dog choker chain. Basically it's a chain that has two 1-in steel rings at either end. That way I can carry the legal length knife and when I flick the chain the blade automatically opens and I have a knife at the end of a steel whip. There is a Chinese martial art that uses a knife at the end of a rope.
