Happy Plastic Surgery Day to everyone! As a dedicated plastic surgeon, I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this transformative field. Many perceive plastic surgery as a luxury, but our daily experiences with patients reveal its true necessity. Consider the young women who suffer from neck and back pain due to large breasts, finding relief through breast reduction surgery. Or the teenage boys facing bullying because of gynecomastia, who regain their confidence with corrective procedures. There's also the woman who has never breathed comfortably through her nose due to nasal valve collapse, who finally experiences ease with rhinoplasty.
These cases illustrate that cosmetic surgery is far from a luxury; it is a crucial intervention that enhances self-confidence and brings hope to many lives. Technological advancements have greatly improved our field, making it easier to stay updated with the latest techniques. The Indian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery plays a significant role in this, training numerous plastic surgeons across India to extend our reach to those in need. I am proud to be part of this initiative.
In Chennai, we have initiated a fellowship program among plastic surgeons, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances our skills and knowledge. This collective effort ensures that more people can benefit from these life-changing surgeries. Plastic surgery is not just about aesthetics; it is about improving lives, boosting self-confidence, and making meaningful changes.
