As a gamer, I have been playing Session on my XBOXONE & I must say I was left with a negative impression at 1st but now I love the game. This may sound ridiculous on the surface but Session reminds me a lot of the Donkey Kong Country games & the Dark Souls series: these games are meant to be played a certain way & if you approach them like Super Mario Brothers or if you approach Session like Skate 3's Easy Difficulty setting you will have your A$$ handed to you EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. This is the most difficult Skateboarding game I have EVER played but its so worth your time!
Glad to see I’m not only one who thinks of Session in terms of Dark Souls. The difficulty and steep learning curve is what made and still makes me love these games, and Session is really challenging and DEEP. Great job, devs! 🎉❤

I felt like a kid on christmas morning when i picked up my PS5 copy. After all those years i can finally experience the awesomeness of Session 😁 Landed my first Kickflip bs Tailslide with your character 👌
The only issue i have is randomly when pushing it will cancel the animation and kill my speed. Anyone else having this? Other than that im loving the update. I will need to see your settings for reference. Love your work jl you've really showed thisbgames potential and helped a lot of us. Not bashing other youtubers but i do think easyday let them pushbthe skater xl pc modded version onto console players. Creature was working for the game they wanted fans to love regardless of system they had
Yes, eventually they are gonna get an animator who will fix a lot of that stuff and make the animations look a lot better...I find even with the tweaks the skater still looks kind of bored. But the tweaks and fluidity of the animations are a lot better than they were. Hell I have had a glitch where he skates towards me going forward...it'll get fixed.
I think them getting it out on PS will be awesome. Hopefully it will bring creature some more money to play w/ and throw into the game. About to install this update now
I just got started on this game yesterday. I’m used to playing Skater XL. This game definitely operates differently with it’s controls, so it’s going to be a bit of a learning curve for me, I’m starting to get it though 😂.
Bro.. I had two days off and I went back to work today and I’m so upset. I tried to switch one of my days off to today just to play on release day. Now I’m stuck at work. lol. I can’t fucking wait! Man.. the sounds alone sound so fucking good. Ugh. Why am I stuck at work?! 😢

It's a huge jump in quality, only been playing for like a half hour but the number of bugs removed from the game is astonishing. Never been so fucking happy to see a bail! I will say that the performance on PS4 isn't great, can't really have pedestrians without major FPS drops. Really looking forward to playing on PS5.
After playing it for a solid few hours I can't say it's ready for official release. Still bugs and glitches and janky animations and controls. It feels smoother but there is alot of refinement needed. The pedestrians are just a waste and thank God it's just experimental but overall it's more ironed out than 0.9 but no way near official release worthy
Just got session the other day for ps4, haven’t played anything skate related since skate 3 lol heard skater xl was okay but just passed on it till I saw this being released for consoles. My gawd this game is incredible!! Always played skate super realistic so this is like a breath of fresh air to me especially now that I’m an old dad now and too afraid to skate 😂 and honestly it’s dope your in the game just came across your videos trying to learn to lip trick and your videos are essential bro! Keep it up 🤘🏼 also def using you in the game tonight haha

hahaha that revert setting is THE FIRST THING I'm gonna do as well, sick that they fixed it so its done with the sticks. Much more natural! It feels like they tried to polish as much as they can and Ithink its in a better state than SXL was when that first launched (a lot more content for sure) now honestly its up to the devs how well they keep up! I read they have stuff planned for December, looking forward to it! EDIT: Nice to see someone do proper lip tricks. Looks dope! EDIT2: Just played a bit. It feels similar but the sound (ITS SO GOOD), slow flip speed, the desync, the lip tricks all make this a VERY solid foundation for whats to come.
It would be perfect if this game had co op, so you could skate with your friends. Then you could also have one person being the camera man, skating around you to film that skatetape! =P
It's a little after 11am here, so less than an hour til I get that update in Steam. By the looks of it, looks like the great features were added which they said, while fixing some bugs and also not totally reworking the feel so much to have to relearn the game all over lol. It feels like Christmas and noon can't get here soon enough. Glad to see you are enjoying it so far, we've both been waiting years for this. See you in the next one 🤘
XL console player who converted to session. I keep missing the front foot input when popping. Enjoying the learning curve. Much more difficult of a game.
It's not as polished of an update as i was hoping (flying away from the coping on the liptrick at 5:13 for example) but this is an awesome update. The game looks great on console and i'm glad to see most of the annoyances have been (at least partially) addressed. Enough to make RadRat happy, let's hope ;).
Yesterday I played session on PS 5 for the first time. It's hard, but it's so fun to make my first progress. Unlike Skater XL, Session just feels ready.
Can you do a (flatground) tricks and tips tutorial? I seem to have a hard time doing almost everything in this game (tbh I’ve only had time to test this game for an hour but a tutorial of some sorts would be helpful).

the xbox version is buggy when it comes to inputs. they seem out of sync, I know this as I'm going back and forth with the pc version and for sure the xbox inputs are off. I do hope they have a quick fix for it for all the xbox players.
Yeah i cannot for the life of me get tre or laserflips at all. All it does is 360 shove everytime, I hope it gets fixed asap. Nollie also feels sketchy for some reason. Seems like it is an input problem

Great video!!! The flip trick speed control is such a W, I didn’t even know about the revert overhaul, I’m all in on that too! Just yesterday I was trying for 20 mins to hit a revert-to-boardslide on one of the same rails that you hit it on in 5 seconds lol

@@Jackcroasdale92 that's not how game dev works. especially now that they have a publisher, they have contracts and dates to meet, they cant delay an entire game for a couple non-essential animations that they don't currently have the means to make properly anyway. Obviously everyone would prefer there to be one, but holding the release for it is not reasonable. This isn't a AAA game and it doesn't have AAA ambitions, or budget. It's a niche simulator game, and by that metric, it's doing just fine given the current competition. Y'all need to put things in context, it'll keep your expectations realistic. But i mean yeah, let's definitely hope they work those animations out later.

Getting on and off your board is a critical part of skateboarding mate I've done it 20 years and without it my immersion has been completely shattered it's got shit all to do with my expectations. I can genuinely see why people hyped this game up so much within 10 minutes of playing on ps5, beyond pleased so far and I’m excited for the fixes they’ll implement!
It’s definitely not floaty, Hubba Hideout with default pop is only for the elite players. It took me like 30 tries to get Torey’s Nollie heel back crook.
Flips and varial tricks are unfortunately very inconsistent on the Series X and I can’t even tre. Aside from that, the new board audio is great and maps look fantastic
Yeah im on series x too and i literally cant tre at all. And i cant even pop shov either half the time. Its not even regestering at all. And i get the same speed for a varial every time. Just really slow. I just get kickflips when i try to tre flip
so finally the day has come !! Vanilla Session looks incredible, much more polish product and skate sim than skaterXL 1.0 version was. im amaze this game only will get better on time my friends. finally after 15 years of skate 3 these 2 brand new game will give us infinite gaming time im happy :) and many thanks JL you are awesome for being part of this♥
Anyone else having problems with 360 variation flips? Before 1.0 I could 360 flip everyime with 1.0 I run my analog all the way to the top and he does a varial flip if you go more than half way he just does a kick flip I can't get tmit to do 360 flips anymore
@@EggZema_ I am to it's frustrating how can you break something that wasn't broken in the first place? If you put input to quarter instead of half you can do 360 flips by going all the way
I'm glad they didn't hold hands or make everything too arcade like for this game. If you actually skate, you know sometimes you'll spend 3 hours on one spot, trying to land a trick you could do first try tomorrow. (speaking generally of course, just saw you got your own parts, hell yea!) That's the life, man! Skateboarding is what has made me as stubborn as I am haha. Skater XL was ok, but didn't fill the void. At least in Skate 2/3 you could do nutty shit, or actually try to perfect a clean realistic line.
I’m gonna play the story mode but for just relaxing flowing and skating around but you can be way more consistent have way more control with way less effort in skater xl, so skater xl will always be my go to. Personally skater xl controls were so fun to learn session controls don’t really make sense to me it feels awkward and clumsy. The inputs are so much more directly felt in sxl. Don’t get me wrong session is cool as hell and I’m stoked to play it but as far as a skate sim goes, sxl simulates what its like to be Shane O’Neil and Session simulates the frustration of skateboarding lol
I've played SO much skater XL, did not like the Session pre release so much. It looks great, and damn you're enjoying it so much it makes me want to play it
Great update but the input is busted for the tre flips and lasers. I had every trick dialed in prior to 1.0. Now every tre/laser I do is a varial or just a normal kickflip. The input is obviously different and that sucks imo.
Settings don’t really affect the board break. It’s all probability based on how old board is, how high drop is, if you land in the middle of the board on the rail.. etc. lower the multiplier for board break to have it break less. Also those aren’t actually My settings in the video you watched. Must be an Unreal Engine thing. They're laying on heavy post-processing. Not sure why you can't turn it off competition because even with PP set to low it's still bad. It even happens on PC, but not as bad with higher framerates. At 100+ it is less noticeable. It's not so bad, just don't look at it. Lol
I mean, it is better than the previous version.... But it doesn't feel like a finished game at all! A lot of things don't seem to work as intended, they definitely forgot to test some edge cases for s bunch of features, the animations look bad (still), etc. You can make the case that "they still don't have enough people to make it great" or anything like that, but I mean.. If you can't make your game presentable, don't release it. At this point, this just seems like a beta build
They've messed up seriously and been forced to release this build due to contract obligations. Its sad , im not being funny I hate skater xl on console but it felt like a way more complete game on release day and that's saying something!

@@Jackcroasdale92 on what planet was skater XL a "way more complete game" than session at release? whichever game you prefer, i truly don't think there is any actual metric you could measure and have XL come out ahead of session. if you prefer the way XL plays, thats totally fine, but session simply has way, way more at launch than XL has currently. For 13 years I considered Skate 2 to be the best game of all time and I finished career about 100 times on xbox 360 and Xbox ONE, but today I have to say that the small creature studio beat Skate 2 :) and other skate games including Skater XL
No improvement on the weird spreading of the legs sadly, as i was expecting... Still not impressed with the bails, walking around, landing animations, though the displacement of the foot while flipping the board is really cool.
Idk why everyone had their hopes so high they were very clear with what they would be updating. And they will continue to update this isn’t the end result.

could you do like a in-depth tutorial how to do lips tricks , I would love to learn but I suck ass at it and struggle heavy . I get them on accident and idk what im doing and can't repeat the trick. I also made my character , and named him Kareem Camobell cause hes one of my favorite skaters and tripped out when I saw some decks in the shop , honestly can't wait what the future has in store for this game

You need the reverts turned on still for certain tricks lmao I just disabled them for dramatic effect :p

can you tell if it's targeting 30 or 60 fps? I have it on my series X, but ive got a ps4 pro in my office and im wondering if it's worth the double dip so i can skate during meetin--i mean, during my assigned break times.

@@Jackcroasdale92 Most likely they had contracts in place for this date, way before the animator quit and didn't have the money to push back the release.
@@Jackcroasdale92 that's not how game dev works. especially now that they have a publisher, they have contracts and dates to meet, they cant delay an entire game for a couple non-essential animations that they don't currently have the means to make properly anyway. Obviously everyone would prefer there to be one, but holding the release for it is not reasonable. This isn't a AAA game and it doesn't have AAA ambitions, or budget. It's a niche simulator game, and by that metric, it's doing just fine given the current competition. Y'all need to put things in context, it'll keep your expectations realistic. But i mean yeah, let's definitely hope they work those animations out later.

Getting on and off your board is a critical part of skateboarding mate I've done it 20 years and without it my immersion has been completely shattered it's got shit all to do with my expectations. They pushed it out and slapped 1.0 on it when it clearly was ready.

It’s definitely not floaty, Hubba Hideout with default pop is only for the elite players. It took me like 30 tries to get Torey’s Nollie heel back crook.

So how does this compare to skater XL besides there being a lot more to skate?
Flips and varial tricks are unfortunately very inconsistent on the Series X and I can’t even tre. Aside from that, the new board audio is great and maps look fantastic
Yeah im on series x too and i literally cant tre at all. And i cant even pop shov either half the time. Its not even regestering at all. And i get the same speed for a varial every time. Just really slow. I just get kickflips when i try to tre flip

Anyone else having problems with 360 variation flips? Before 1.0 I could 360 flip everyime with 1.0 I run my analog all the way to the top and he does a varial flip if you go more than half way he just does a kick flip I can't get tmit to do 360 flips anymore
I can do one 360flip when I spawn into the map. After that it just keep doing 360 shuvs or varial flips.. Im on xbox series x

I'm glad they didn't hold hands or make everything too arcade like for this game. If you actually skate, you know sometimes you'll spend 3 hours on one spot, trying to land a trick you could do first try tomorrow. (speaking generally of course, just saw you got your own parts, hell yea!) That's the life, man!
Skateboarding is what has made me as stubborn as I am haha.
Skater XL was ok, but didn't fill the void. At least in Skate 2/3 you could do nutty shit, or actually try to perfect a clean realistic line.

I’m gonna play the story mode but for just relaxing flowing and skating around but you can be way more consistent have way more control with way less effort in skater xl, so skater xl will always be my go to. Personally skater xl controls were so fun to learn session controls don’t really make sense to me it feels awkward and clumsy. The inputs are so much more directly felt in sxl. Don’t get me wrong session is cool as hell and I’m stoked to play it but as far as a skate sim goes, sxl simulates what its like to be Shane O’Neil and Session simulates the frustration of skateboarding lol
I've played SO much skater XL, did not like the Session pre release so much. It looks great, and damn you're enjoying it so much it makes me want to play it

Great update but the input is busted for the tre flips and lasers. I had every trick dialed in prior to 1.0. Now every tre/laser I do is a varial or just a normal kickflip. The input is obviously different and that sucks imo.
Yeah I'm having same issues on xbox. Put scoop input to small, kind of helps.

Settings don’t really affect the board break. It’s all probability based on how old board is, how high drop is, if you land in the middle of the board on the rail.. etc. lower the multiplier for board break to have it break less.
Also those aren’t actually My settings in the video you watched. If you want the settings I actually use for most realistic feel, check this video ;)

Must be an Unreal Engine thing. They're laying on heavy post-processing. Not sure why you can't turn it off competition because even with PP set to low it's still bad.
It even happens on PC, but not as bad with higher framerates. At 100+ it is less noticeable.

I mean, it is better than the previous version.... But it doesn't feel like a finished game at all! A lot of things don't seem to work as intended, they definitely forgot to test some edge cases for s bunch of features, the animations look bad (still), etc. You can make the case that "they still don't have enough people to make it great" or anything like that, but I mean.. If you can't make your game presentable, don't release it. At this point, this just seems like a beta build
They've messed up seriously and been forced to release this build due to contract obligations. Its sad , im not being funny I hate skater xl on console but it felt like a way more complete game on release day and that's saying something!
@@Jackcroasdale92 for sure. It might not have had a lot of features on launch, but skater xl was (and in my opinion, still is) a more solid game. Session just tries to have such a huge scope that they can't do half of it decently...

@@Jackcroasdale92 on what planet was skater XL a "way more complete game" than session at release? whichever game you prefer, i truly don't think there is any actual metric you could measure and have XL come out ahead of session. if you prefer the way XL plays, thats totally fine, but session simply has way, way more at launch than XL has currently. (on consoles)

Only had it a few days and even though I struggle with the controls I enjoy the hell out of it
For 13 years I considered Skate 2 to be the best game of all time and I finished career about 100 times on xbox 360 and Xbox ONE, but today I have to say that the small creature studio beat Skate 2 :) and other skate games including Skater XL
No improvement on the weird spreading of the legs sadly, as i was expecting... Still not impressed with the bails, walking around, landing animations, though the displacement of the foot while flipping the board is really cool.
Yea man as someone who’s been playing session when it first came out I was hoping this update would be somethin crazy but tbh it wasn’t that much….
Idk why everyone had their hopes so high they were very clear with what they would be updating. And they will continue to update this isn’t the end result.
They said they weren’t focused on animations for this update so I’m not sure why you’re surprised about it

I only say this because I ordered it on PlayStation aswell don’t get me wrong having a blast playing as I type but just feel like maybe it could have costed a bit less (maybe I don’t understand fully how much work went into making this and if it’s worth the bump from $25 to $50-$60)

could you do like a in-depth tutorial how to do lips tricks , I would love to learn but I suck ass at it and struggle heavy . I get them on accident and idk what im doing and can't repeat the trick.
I also made my character , and named him Kareem Camobell cause hes one of my favorite skaters and tripped out when I saw some decks in the shop , honestly can't wait what the future has in store for this game
