I’ve been using the SCDB paid version on my Mercedes (MBUX NTG 6) and I can say that it works great around 99% of the time.
Rarely, the icon of the speed camera will appear on the screen without the actual pre-warning sound, but works perfectly (visible icon + audible warning sound) the vast majority of the time though.
I highly recommend to set the pre-warning sound to the maximum (25 seconds) as in real world use the pre-warning sound will occasionally occur just one second or two before actually passing through the speed camera if it’s set to just 15 seconds which may be too late if you’re speeding. I downloaded a second version to have a greater margin.
I use a very compact Sandisk USB-C memory stick directly connected to the port for greater reliability, no dongle.
Be sure to format the flash drive to FAT32 before creating the personal POI folder and to copy the database file.
The file itself is actually just 3MB for the 3 countries database that I downloaded (around 7500 POIs). MBUX loads the database flawlessly, no problem.
Keep in mind that the memory stick has to remain inserted all the time as it’s not possible to transfer the database to the internal storage which isn’t a problem really. The memory stick is now part of the car, I never remove it so the database is always active whenever I drive.
Overall, it’s a great feature at a very affordable price point and easy to setup.
As someone who loves using MBUX native navigation system which works flawlessly with all its very useful and dynamic features like Live Traffic, this SCDB is a priceless complimentary tool on the road together with MBUX.
Totally recommend.
Hi Nick, many thanks. The system works great in Melbourne, Australia, and I have just driven through NSW to Canberra, where it worked fine as well. I have a 2022 GLE 300d, and have loved watching your videos to help make best use of the extensive features the team at Mercedes provide. You have a gift, and do an outstanding job - your channel is a wonderful resource now. Thanks!
Thank you so much! I’ll keep the videos coming! 👀
Hi Nick,
I’m now on my third Mercedes, a GLC300, but only found you and your tutorials this year. However, I’ve managed to catch up on lots of ‘tips and tricks’ since then and look forward to your new posts each week. Like you, I couldn’t get the free speedcam download to work but the SCDB version works really well, thank you. A really BIG shoutout to you and Poole Mercedes - keep on posting. Regards, Kenno
Thank you! I’ll keep the videos coming and thanks for watching all the previous ones! 🤓🙏
Hi Nick. Watched your video and purchased the year one. Didn’t bother with the free one as most people were struggling to get it to work. If it hadn’t been for your upload I don’t think I would have successfully installed it. Working great, many thanks.
Ah amazing thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 🤓
Thank you Nick I was very pleased to see Australia is listed in the options, I’m going to head right over and get paid version. Thanks again
Thanks Toby! 🤓👍🏼
Great video Nick, I'm going to try this! thank you.
Brilliant update Nick. I'll give my H247 GLA45 a go and will give you some feedback for Australian viewers.
Leaving aside the Waze notifications I found this quite good. The USB memory stick needs plugging in all the time for it to work as the files won't load into the MB memory but by adding a small USB 4 port hub it still works and allows the use of that media port for other devices. The downside is that the warnings are proximity only and not directional so you won't know if there's a camera in the direction of travel, just the general area. For the money it's reasonable value
This was such a cool hack Nick. Works brilliantly thank you very much. I would never have known about it without you!
Ah awesome! Thank you! I’ll keep videos like this coming in the future! 🤓🙏
It costs a bit more but if you use the Pocketgps speed camera database you can be warned of the frequent positions of mobile speed cameras as well. This is much more useful than the fixed ones as if you are awake fixed ones are usually quite visible!
Were they easy to install? I looked here but the install guide was very out of date and wasn't sure if it would work
Hi and thank you Nick. Sorry for my english, not my mother tong.
It's my first Mercedes, an EQA. Before I had a Land Rover Discovery sport and was used to the speed camera alerts. I was disappointed tha Mercedes don't offers the camera alerts. But thanks to you, here's the solution.
The free version works perfectly in Belgium and France.
I thank you also for all the tutorials. So usefull. I learned more about my Mercedes looking at them than looking at Mercedes' very own videos and manual.
Don't change anything, I agree with the other comments, you've got a gift.
Thank you! I’m starting to cover more brands now but I’ll defo keep the Mercedes videos coming!
They’ll be a dedicated Mercedes section on my RUclips homepage as with the others 🤓
An interesting topic! Love Brother Strut as well.
Thanks useful information,I will try later.😀
Nice addition Nick, definitely give it a go 📸👍
Thank you! 🤓
Thanks Nick, nice haircut 😊
Haha thanks! 🤓
Iv just done this on my w204 with NTG 4.7,super easy to do.
You need to do it on an SD card that goes in the front of the stereo though not on a usb stick, but works great.makes the beep noise and shows the camera and puts a little highlighted ring around it aswell, the symbol isnt a speed camera one like its just a red nd grey camera on a tripod but it’s different from all the rest. Wouldn’t of even know about it if I wasn’t subscribed, great work nd info as always. 👍
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it! 🤓
This may be useful if you're using an MP3 player to play music via the USB in the car ....
You can copy the PersonalPOI folder onto the player, then the SatNav will recognise the POI file from there, as well as the audio connection picking up the music.
No need for a separate USB stick etc 😁
I had speed camera alerts in my last Mercedes (2014 B220 4Matic), and it was in the built-in GPS. Had to buy the software update though, but it was official from the GPS manufacturer (Harman Becker). I guess they didn't actually call it "speed camera alert" though. This was in Norway.
In my new EQB 300 4Matic AMG I don't have it.
Waze already do that, for free. And with Android and Apple, I’m pretty sure you can display it on screen.
They sure do! I’ve already covered that on my Apple CarPlay series: ruclips.net/p/PLyo-duQc8myqeiyld5sPamAo88-KmfgEB
This is just for people who want to use the in built Sat Nav 👍🏼
Yeah but for electric or hybrid owners where the in built sat nav affect the efficiency of the car. Sucks not having the speed cameras
@@ricardorey If you are concerned about the miniscule if not immeasurable loss of efficiency from an ev central screen, you probably should not buy one
Plus not only waze displays fixed speed cameras, they also tell you traffic stops as well
He literally showed apple carplay at the end mate😂😂
Free one works on 2023 EQB.
Thanks for this
Had these for a while now, Would love to try work out how to replace to ding with a spoken alert, no idea of anyone has done that but yes, its a handy addition to have!
Thanks Nice works great in my 2020 A-Class
Awesome! 🤓
EPIC HACK VID NICK - please make more content like this 👍🏽 were waiting on any wireless car play options too😅
Thank you! Defo!
I’m aiming for 23rd / end of this month
I haven’t forgotten 👀😜
Do you need to keep the memory stick plugged in? Or do the files download onto mbux and you can then unplug the stick?
UK driver just outside of London. I downloaded the paid version and it mostly works a charm. I have 2 gripes with it. 1) When I play music via bluetooth and have the speed cam audio notification setting enabled it dips the volume every time it detects a camera - and it's very noticible. It's about a 5 sec dip in music every camera. Seems trivial to introduce a setting that controls how this works. 2) It doesn't detect cameras based on the notification setting you set. Mine is 15secs before each camera. Sometimes it gets this right. Sometimes it's more like 5 secs when I'm about to pass the camera, and sometimes it completely misses the camera altogether. It's a semi-decent piece of software. But I'm more inclined to stick to the speed limit :)
Thanks for sharing! Good to know from someone who drives in a built up area like London all the time!
There is an option on some multimedia systems where it will fade out the music for Sat Nav instructions. Just thought outside the box, it might fall under that category? Might be worth a shot?
It’s usually in HOME, SETTINGS, SYSTEM, AUDIO, Fade out during driving recommendation or something similar.
A nice added feature but you get so much more with Waze, I can't really see me needing it, unless there is some benefit I'm not aware off that Waze or Google maps doesn't give me?
nice and usefull ,you are very good .
Thank you! 🤓
Completed a 400 round trip from Essex to Yorkshire and back on Wednesday for the first time in my new Merc and was thinking not having this was a pain over the less ideal Google Maps + mounted phone approach I used on my older car...
Not that any of us need to know where the speed cameras are, as we're all doing 10% under the speed limit as a max speed... 🤓
Thanks😊
Hi Nick, thanks for this very interesting. Do you know if you need to leave the memory stick plugged in or does it download to the system’s hard drive?
Yea you do need to leave it in.
If you pull it out they disappear instantly
This is useful info, I just did this whole thing and I only have one USB C connector and I use that for my phone. I hope they bring out a CarPlay full screen update. Much prefer the look and feel of the Mercedes Nav. Glad it was only a tenner I spent, I was under the assumption it did update the Nav.
Thanks Nick. Another great video
The paid version did not work for me when a Type C USB is plugged in directly. Does it always need an adaptor like the one you use? The Type C USB when plugged in directly is not recognized.
Not all USB-C adapter work but the one I always use works on everything and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto etc🤓
amzn.to/3kEchgr
Paid version works on my 73 plate EQC (AMG line). Plugged in left hand port in centre storage.
Hello,
Do you need to maintain the POI files on the dongle or once they are uploaded to the Mbux you can delete them?
I have lots of folders with music.
Thanks for your great videos 😊
Thank you! Yes they’ll need to stay on the USB stick and you’ll need to keep it plugged in 🤓
Luckily they don’t take up much space
best mbux add-on
Hi Nick,
MUBX NTG 7, I'm Not getting Speed camera imagines on the maps screen, but I get the audio ping warning. Any ides why is this?
Do you need to keep the usb stick in the car or will it copy the POI into the car’s sat nav storage?
Minor comment: it isn’t speed camera ‘detection’ it is only a set of coordinates that lets the sat nav alert you as you approach. Detection is a whole different thing and frequently illegal in many countries.
Yes you do need to keep it plugged in 🤓
If you unplug it, they’ll disappear
Hey Nick, with the warmer weather coming up can you do a small section on A/C and refill? I learn so much from your vids its like having a mini garage online and easy to digest! 😂❤
Glad you’re loving the vids!
Oh yes gotta love A/C!
I mean as a general rule of thumb, if it’s not cool enough coming out of the vents, you can get the A/C system re-filled and checked. Sadly I don’t know enough about A/C’s so not sure I’d be able to make a video on it 😅
I’d just ask my local Mercedes or a garage to check it out and they could let me know if it needed doing or not.
@@npoleary no worries! Sounds like something I would do. I saw a few tips on DIY so was just wondering 🙂
Yeah I have heard of those DIY kits but I’d kind of rather get someone to do that sort of thing, I wouldn’t know what I’m doing on that bit 😅
It would be much safer if the COMAND/Navigation was always up to date with the speed limit of he road you are on and you use the adaptive cruise control that adjusts to the current speed limit. You would then be safe driving within the speed limit and would not have to worry about speed cameras. Thanks for the info.
Hey Ken, it depends on the equipment on the car, there’s two options from what I’ve seen.
Speed Limit Assist - relies on Sat Nav data for speed (usually updated a couple of times a year or so)
Traffic Sign Assist - this is the most accurate as it physically scans traffic signs as you drive past them.
Hey man love your videos, was wondering if you could make one on wireless CarPlay anytime soon tho, much appreciate it!
I’m working on it
Aiming for 23rd this month if all goes to plan 🤓
Hi nick. For the POIs to appear does your memory stick need to be inserted into the car all the time? Or do they download onto mbux from your memory stick and you can then unplug the stick?
Ah no the memory stick needs to be plugged in all of the time for the POI’s to display
Hi Nick, just stumbled across your videos, and they are sensational!! Clearly explained, and easy to understand, even for a technophobe like me. I am in Melbourne Australia, and awaiting delivery of a new GLC300 with the "plus package". I was wondering if there is any way of sending SMS via voice command? Please keep up the great work, I think I'll be looking at these every day, for as long as I have my car
Thank you! I’ll try and keep them coming! Although I don’t work for Mercedes UK directly I’m in contact with them to see if I can have access to new cars that come out so I can keep the videos coming.
You should be able to read a text message using the multimedia system but if you want to send one, I’d personally use Apple CarPlay / Android Auto if you have it.
Thanks a lot Nick, can certainly read them, but will try Android Auto, and see how it goes@@npoleary
Hi Graham, I’ve just bought a 2024 GLB with the plus package running the latest MBUX software (version 7) and it allows direct messaging from MBUX. I used it the other day. As effective as Siri
Hi Nick, first of all congratulations for the channel, big fan of you. So I downloaded the paid maps for my a45s 2020 mbux6.0 , software is updated, but when I try to activate my personal POI in the car, it shows in watermark. Its not possible to click in. I live in Switzerland, do you know same thing about it?
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos! I’ll keep them coming!
Sadly it’s not available everywhere round the world as specs do vary. If you contact Mercedes they can let you know if Personal POI’s are available where you live
I do also remember seeing a FAQ part of the SCDB website where you can check the software version too
Hope that helps!
For anyone wondering this did not work on my NTG 5.5 command, my device shows as supported then further down the description says it isn't on certain models so thought I would try it anyway but no option to add personal Poi's on my Navi menu, C220 A205 2019
Hi Nick. Any ideas how I can put these onto the new system for a 73 plate NBUX A class please. I can’t find it anywhere to add personal POI Happy Christmas by the way. Thanks
Hey Merry Christmas! Not sure you can on NTG 7 which is the latest version of MBUX.
But this is mainly designed for older systems. Newer ones will use CarPlay which has speed cameras built in 🤓
I am guessing there is no way to use speed camera warning and android auto for steaming and other things..or is there a way to upload a mobile,/ static database directly to mbux..
If you have Android Auto then you don’t need this!
Android Auto has Google Maps and you can download Waze which has all the speed cameras built in and even feedback from the Waze community (they’ll report mobile cameras) + it’s free!
This video is for cars that don’t have smartphone integration like CarPlay or Android Auto / or if you wanted to use the in-built navigation of course.
I've used the "free" one you used in a W177 A Class and W206 C Class, and it has worked fine on both. Just FYI :)
Awesome thanks for sharing! 🤓
I've loaded the free one onto my H247 GLA and it works well!
I can't use in my w177, how can you use it?
@@keyboardli426 loaded the files onto a USB stick and enabled the personal POIs!
@@JealY666 I had try it but not success
If I recall correctly in France it’s illegal to have speed camera notifications. So the setting relating to that must be something to do with circumventing the law by labelling the alert as a different thing.
That makes sense 🤓
Thanks Daniel! 👍🏼
I have a stick for music and a stick for camera in my centre column. Which stick would I place these 2 files?
Hey Gavin, I believe based on someone else’s comments it’s the stick with the music on.
Let me know how you get on!
Great guide 🙂
I am wondering if this method could be used for route planning using Tesla open for all charge points, have you heard about such a use?
Thank you!
That sounds like a good idea in concept but the problem is not all Tesla charge points work with non Tesla’s. You have to open their app and see which ones are compatible.
By that point the car’s multimedia systems in EV’s will show you where chargepoints are already
@@npoleary So it is possible to arrive on Tesla open for all chargepoints with preheated battery on longer trips?
Tesla pre-heating on their chargepoints I would imagine would only be on Teslas.
Mercedes do have pre heating on their charging integration of MBUX NTG 7 (gen 2) the one’s with the vertical screen so like EQE and EQS.
But again I doubt that would be with Tesla superchargers.
I didn't see you mention it, but do you need to have usb stick plugged in at all times when you want this to work, or does it get downloaded to the car?
Yes it needs to be plugged in all the time, as soon as you unplug, they disappear
Hi Nick. If a user has CarPlay on in the car will the speed camera software still alert the driver?
Well, CarPlay has it’s own apps for that.
If a car has CarPlay I’d use that over SCDB as it’s constantly updated.
Supported apps are Apple Maps, Google Maps & Waze as far as I’ve seen 🤓
Do you know if average speed camera zones are included in the database? TIA
Yes but only at the start and end points
Worked a treat on my EQA thanks, same as you the free version didn't work.
Hello Nick! I just got my 2021 E Class and I can't get Apple Carplay to work. I plug my phone in with a USB C cable, but nothing happens. Any idea why? Is carplay built in in all newer models or do I maybe have to buy that feature? Thanks!
It depends on your spec on your car.
You can check in HOME, CONNECT / MERCEDES ME & APPS (or something similar) and see if Apple CarPlay or Smartphone Integration is listed there.
If you don’t have it, you can buy it from the Mercedes me store: shop.mercedes-benz.com/en-gb/connect/
Make sure you're using the correct USB port in the car. It has a little phone symbol next to it. On My 2022 GLA it only works on one of the USB-C ports in the car.
@@npoleary Thanks! Just found it in the Mercedes Me Store, but I have to pay 500 Euros if I want to enable it...
Hi Nick, the Personal POI option on my 2022 GLC with NTG6 is disabled / greyed out. Do you have any ideas why this is? I've searched the internet but there isn't a solution.
Have you checked the SCDB website? They do have a FAQ section which may help. I remember reading some stuff about checking the software version: www.scdb.info/en/plugin-mercedes-comand-online/
Thanks
Thank you so much! 🙏🙏🙏
Glad you got it working! 👊🏼
Hi Nick,
Great Idea, but I have real problems getting it to work!
I have a 72' plate e class with MBUX & downloaded everything onto a USB 'c' but when I go to load the files the "personal POI's is grayed out & will not let me load it ??
Any ideas would be more than welcome
Kind regards
moby147
Thanks moby147, have you checked out the SCDB website? There’s a FAQ section which allows you to check software versions of cars and more!
www.scdb.info/en/plugin-mercedes-comand-online/
Right at the bottom (this is the link for MBUX and COMAND)
I wish the navigation would show the speed limit even if you don’t have the driving assistance package.
Hi nick, instead of having two USB sticks plugged in, do you know if I can use the same USB stick that I use for the Dashcam recording to copy the POI files and make it work for both?
Technically speaking I guess you could, but it would be a case if the system can keep up with the reading and writing of data. It’s only small so I would imagine the chances are that one stick could work.
Sadly back when I made this video and even today, Mercedes don’t publish read and write speeds of their USB ports.
I would assume it would be okay though, you’ll have to try it and let me know how you get on!
Does the memory stick need to stay in? Can you use a usb c splitter and still be able to use the port for charging etc?
Yes it does, sadly not tried that although I’m sure I remember reading somewhere that “hubs or splitters” might not work in a car. (Depends on the company that made the splitter) might have to try it but make sure they have refund policy or something
When I set this up in my car SUV GLC 2023 model with NTG7 it conflicted with my stick that was recording my dashcam and started recording the dashcam onto the the stick that had the camera programmes on it. is there any way round this?
Hey Rod, yes I believe car multimedia systems can only do one thing at a time with USB ports.
So, Dashcam or Apple CarPlay, or music playback on a memory stick, or speed cameras can only happen one at a time. I don’t think car processors are powerful enough to do multiple things like a laptop or desktop computer.
It can do more than one thing at a time. If you put mp3 music and personalpoi folder on the stick it will play music and warn you of cameras
Ah that’s good to know
But I guess any extra “apps” like dashcam or Apple CarPlay would require the system’s full resources
Hi Nick have a new 23 plate a class the advisory speed cameras on a lot of a roads that are 60mph are showing 70 on the Mercedes mbux system have you come across this before ?
Thanks Lee
Is this using the SCDB database shown in the video? If so if you head over to their website to report any discrepancies.
For the the actual speed shown in the car, it depends what equipment you have, there are two:
Speed Limit Assist (uses Sat Nav Data from Here We Go Maps). You can report discrepancies on their website.
&
Traffic Sign Assist (this should automatically read the correct speed sign). If this isn’t working I would suggest speaking with Mercedes who can check it out for you.
@@npoleary Hi Nick it’s the traffic sign assist that’s wrong a number of times I’m on main A roads with a mandatory 60 mph and it displays 70 I’ve checked around camera area and it’s all clean not sure how they would rectify this thanks
They can check that it’s working properly, Mercedes have technicians who can check the camera etc
If you get in touch with them they can take a look for you and hopefully sort it out.
Can’t get the paid version to work on my 2021 b series. MUBX can see the poi file as in settings I can choose if they are shown on screen, audible etc but the cameras are not shown on screen and I get no alerts.
Have you had a look again? My didn’t work the first time as it kind of loaded them all up after a few mins, it wasn’t instantaneous.
Failing that there’s a FAQ section on the SCDB website which was super useful!
Hi Nick,
I have MBUX NTG6 on my ‘22 GLA. I went through the settings and note that the Personal POI line is greyed out ie cannot be selected.
Do you have to put the USB stick into the type C socket first before the Personal POI line can be used?
Have you checked the FAQ on the scdb website? They have loads of useful info on there to check compatibility with software versions etc.
@@npoleary Mny thanks. Just to be clear, I have not plugged anything into the car yet and discovered that the Personal POI line is greyed out ie not selectable. I am thinking that perhaps the Personal POIS line will be restored and therefore selectable only when a USB stick is plugged in.
Another question is how do you load Personal POIs?
So to load Personal POI’s just follow the video 🤓
Download the files onto a memory stick following the instructions that SCDB show on their website and then when you’re in the car it’s plug and play.
Just double check the version numbers on the website on FAQ to make sure it’s compatible *before* you buy!
Got it to display on map, but I don't get any visual or audio warning when approaching speed cameras (I did turn these settings in personal POI). Mbux 6.0. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you

Hi Nick, witch software i can download for my mercedes CLA 2021?
For the speed cameras? You can use SCDB but if you have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto I’d reccomend to use that over this.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are free if you’ve already got it on the car 😎
Nick do you know why my Personal POI in my 2021 AMG B Class isn't highlighted. Do it only hight wend a USB is added. Looked in another B Class in Merc Garage and it was the same, Personal POI is there but not highlighted so unable to select.
Have you looked at the frequently asked questions on the SCDB website? They’ve got loads of answered questions on there: www.scdb.info/en/plugin-mercedes-comand-online/
It depend on the software version in the car too 👍🏼
Did you created the folder “PersonalPOI” with that exact spelling and then copy the database to that same folder?
Works perfectly on my Mercedes with MBUX NTG 6, I downloaded the SCDB paid version.
Hi Nick would be good to do a video for the MBUX NGT7 system to set up the speed camera's
I hadn’t really considered to be honest because there’s a free option.
When you connect your phone via Bluetooth you can utilise Apple CarPlay to Android Auto. They both have FREE options for speed cameras and they’re updated automatically as it’s your phone.
@@npoleary Hi Nick i've purchased the speed camera from the site you mention in the video but would be good to have a video showing the set up as you have with the MBUX NGT6 in the car i have a 2023 GLC220D

Hi Nick - I have done this twice now - first time I took the stick out so as you’ve said, everything disappeared!🤦🏻♀️. But I’ve done it again and everything loaded up fine and I left the stick in, but the next time I started my car up, they have all disappeared. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?!
Have you checked the FAQ’s on the scdb website? They’ve got loads of useful info on there from formatting of the memory stick to check the version info etc. Be aware as well that some models of Mercedes can only operate one USB device at a time.
Thanks Nick - I had checked but I will go back and look and try it again. Thanks for replying
Do you actually install the files or do you need to keep the usb stick plugged in to allow the system to access?
USB needs to be plugged in all the time
Hello, I have mb w213 2020, I don't know which mbux I have in my car and if this can work on my car?
If you have a touchscreen and touchpad then it’ll be MBUX NTG 6.
If you have a wheel with no touchscreen it’ll be COMAND NTG 5.5 🤓
@@npoleary I don't have touch screen. Thanks for help.
Is it possible to use same USB memory stick got recording camera and these speed camera alerts?
I believe so, a few people had mentioned they’ve done it although I hadn’t tested that myself
@@npoleary Thanks!
I take it you have to leave the stick plugged into the car while using it, correct? Not download it into the cars system itself. Very interesting.
Yes the stick needs to be plugged in. If you unplug, they disappear.
Mercedes don't sell cars in the UK with UK speed camera positions although they *do* sell cars in the UK with everything swapped over for driving on the left side of the road. Weird.
Anyway, thanks Nick. Gonna try this on my USB C music stick, which has plenty of room on it, before I try buying another stick.
They also can't have the built in dash cam auto enable on start due to "local laws" even though they aren't illegal in the UK. This feature is possible in other countries. Bloody annoying to have to turn it on every time!
There’s a difference in regulations between “on-board recording” equipment and “off-board recording” like a 3rd party dashcam.
Hopefully it’ll change in the future though!
thanks. In the Wase is free
Waze is free!
I’ve already covered that on my Apple CarPlay series: ruclips.net/p/PLyo-duQc8myqeiyld5sPamAo88-KmfgEB
This video is just for people who want to use the in-built Sat Nav 👍🏼
I can’t find the website Nick only suspicious other websites. Did you provide a link to the one you used ?
Hi Paul yes pinned in the comments section and in the description of the video
This one here: www.scdb.info/en/plugin-mercedes-comand-online
The Free Version Worked on my Cla and the camera do beep, but It also now beeps whenever I approach a junction. Is the no way of just having the camera sounds?
I didn’t find that when I downloaded it and tested it
Are there any additional settings for it before you hit the download button.
You could give SCDB a shout and see if they have heard of that before. I’ve seen their contact info on their website: www.scdb.info/en/support/
HI, do you know if they make does for the US market?
Looks like the paid version is available in the USA too
But double check on the website for compatibility: www.scdb.info/en/plugin-mercedes-comand-online
@@npoleary Thank you Will take a look.
Hello I just downloaded the 5.5 version for my A class 2021 and it’s not showing POI on the file I downloaded should I have downloaded the 5.2 version?
Have you check the FAQ section on the SCDB website? There’s loads of useful info on there. You’ll need to double check the software on the car is the right version, and the files are placed in the right place on the memory stick
@@npoleary thanks for replying it’s sorted now I forgot to label the folder “ personalPOi” worked straight away and it’s fantastic it also lowers the volume of your music while on to warn you as well which is awesome and all for £9 thanks again
great value for £8.53 also I now know how I can add my own POI's
Hey Phill, if anyone’s made any, I presume they’d be the same file type but not sure as I’ve not imported any before apart from these speed camera ones
@@npoleary I've noticed the car has added extra folders for dashcam and video. I've also added other POIs and cascaded folders for music\artists\albums\tracks to the same USB stick. All working just fine. Thanks for the starter and pointing in the right direction to get this all working. :)
Nick, can you turn up the acoustic sound ?
I didn’t see a setting to adjust it on the menus so I don’t think so
I have a Mercedes E Class 2018 Model. I am not sure the version to purchase. Please can anyone help
Try the free version first to see if it works
SCDB have a small file to try on their website too on the same link.
www.scdb.info/en/plugin-mercedes-comand-online/
Hey Nick, I have NTG7, can you please advise how to install through there?
It’ll still be the same process with a memory stick via USB-C ports
The SCDB website has loads of FAQ’s which are super helpful!
www.scdb.info/en/plugin-mercedes-comand-online/
Thanks mate, I’ll take a look. I just can’t find any menu to toggle through like you video for NTG7? Not sure whether it’s via the Nav screen, vehicle settings or system etc! I have just got an A35 AMG and so your videos are brilliant! Thanks@@npoleary
When you’re on the Sat Nav screen, tap on either the picture of the car top left or where to (again top left)
You should see the settings icon in there (providing it’s the same as mine)
I’ve downloaded it and allowed me to enable the cameras and I’ve enabled the show on map but when I look around I can’t see any on the map
Have you checked the FAQ’s on the SCDB website? There’s loads of info on there that might help!
So does the usb need to be connected into the car at all times?
Yes that’s right 🤓
If you unplug, they disappear
Ive downloaded it all when i plug it in nothing is happen i cant select personal pois i extracted the files and then put in folder on stick
Have you check the FAQ section on the SCDB website? It’s full of useful info with what cars it’s compatible with etc and where to place them in file structure etc
free version did not work because they do not have a file for UK :) they do not have either for Germany so I went for SCDB ... I am fine with the paid version too
No speed cameras in the US but there’s cops with speed radar in hidden areas usually at night
Don't you guys have legal radar detectors that pick up cameras etc?
Is it possible to use this in Germany? Paid b´version is not problem
Possibly although I do remember seeing the speed camera detection is illegal. Even apps like Waze weren’t allowed a couple of years ago so not sure what it’s like now.
Really sorry only been to Germany a couple of times so not 100% sure
Hi Nick - just something people should be aware of. I bought & paid for the download but for some reason the PayPal payment just sat as "unverified" on their system. I emailed them 4 times over a week wanting to get it resolved but didn't hear back from anyone. A shame and ended up having to get PayPal to charge them back. Thanks for your great videos and please keep them coming...
Hey Denis, thanks for sharing!
Hmmm strange, I didn’t use PayPal when I did it, I just used a card.
Glad you managed to get it sorted though 👍🏼
@@npoleary Yeah, I'll try again with my card this time👍. Here's a silly question but I'm sure you'd know if anyone did. I've a 2022 GLC AMG 63S & wondering if there's any way to increase the volume of the turn signal as it's SO quiet I accidentally leave it on sometimes. Not a good look🤣
Denis Sweeney no sadly not I’ve not seen a setting for that when reviewing Mercedes cars. I think they’re preset at factory
Hi, Followed the full instructions and downloaded the test file before making a purchase... I found that this did NOT work at all in my 2023 CLA with MBUX... the car would not allow me to select the POI option with the memory stick in place. Is this anyone else's experience? I'm not sure I want to risk making a purchase based on this.
Sadly it doesn’t work with all models of Mercedes out there. There’s a Frequently asked question section on how you can check the version number on the SCDB website. Also make sure you’ve formatted the memory stick correctly and the folders are named correctly.
However if your car has Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, I’d recommend to use that as it’s free and updated all the time.
Thanks for the advice Nick, I’ll see if I can sort it. P.S…. Am I the only one that hates Apple Car Play? It’s ugly to look at and use and the graphics on the MBUX SatNav is far superior.
Hi, I have a Mercedes with MBUX NTG 6 and can confirm the SCDB works perfectly, I’m very satisfied with it as it’s a great complimentary tool for MBUX.
I didn’t try the free version, I just purchased straight away the full version as it’s quite affordable anyway. Some people are reporting that the free version doesn’t work, maybe it’s your case too.
What version of MBUX do you have? Is it NTG 6 or 7?
In any case, you have first to format your flash drive to FAT32, then create the “PersonalPOI” folder with this exact spelling, then copy the database to that folder.
Keep in mind that MBUX only allows up to 30.000 POIs, only download the countries that you actually need.
Use preferably a USB-C flash drive directly connected to the main port of the dashboard which is for the navigation unit without using a dongle (under the climate control, not under the arms resting).
In MBUX sub-menu, you have to enable “PersonalPOI” and the category "SCDB_Camera", then “Display on map" and enable the options Acoustic notification and Visual warning too.
Hopefully that helps, I find that MBUX is awesome and the SCDB makes it even more powerful, I use it on a daily basis. Greetings
I cant get it to open. It downloaded as a .gpx file on my MAC, I have dropped that onto a memory stick, but stays unopened. Then when I try and use it in my E-Class MBUX the personal POI tab isn't highlighted. Anyone have any ideas?
Have you followed the instructions with putting it in a folder called PersonalPOI?
www.scdb.info/en/installation-mercedes-comand-online/
All of the instructions are on the SCDB website along with a sample file before you pay for anything 👍🏼
I have Nick yes. It just stays as a .gpx file. I can’t get the two files you mentioned.
It depends what you select when going through the download process. Sometimes it’ll be one file and sometimes it’ll be two files, just depends what you download or select in terms of the icons etc
Have you double checked the software version?
Hi Nick sent off for the usb with both connections and added folder PersonalPOI. Added the download and now at the car. 2023 GLC MBUX. Plugged in and gone to map POIs and nothing ?? When I plug in the usb stick, with slight difficulty I go to maps and the POIs is not highlighted allowing me to press?? Any ideas Nick
I notice when I plug in the usb the POI comes up below traffic warnings however not highlighted so I can not press it as I said above
Cheers
Have you checked on the SCDB website for any of the FAQ’s sections? I tested it on my own car, and a few others at my local Mercedes and the website stated it works on most NTG versions but you have to check the software on the car to make sure it’s compatible
Cheers Nick I will take another look, thanks for the fast response 👍
No worries!
@@npoleary Hi Nick, I noticed my two downloaded items are in a zip file, think I will open the zip file and add the 2 items to my personalPOI file individually and see if that works. Technology lol 😂
Ah okay maybe! 🤓
Will it work at Mercedes EQE 2022 MBUX
It might do, check on the SCDB website but I should add you don’t need to!
Just use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, they have free speed cameras on various apps 👍🏼
Installed this yesterday and straight away could see the camera just down the road from me.
However, this morning a camera on my journey wasn't shown. I checked the settings and the Personal POI😮 setting is now greyed out so can't check the settings 🙁 The USB with the file on is inserted. Haven't been able to resolve.
Have you check the FAQ on the SCDB website?
They’ve got loads of things on there to check 🤓
@@npoleary hi Nick. I think it's to do with me having 2 USB'S in use. I have music on one and use the second one for the Mercedes Dashcam.
I've now put the speed camera on the music USB, and taken out the second one - this seems to be working.
My next job is to try having music, speed camera AND Dashcam on the one memory stick.
Keep up the good work as love the videos.
Ah yes that’ll be why
Most modern multimedia systems only read from one memory stick at a time.
Ah I’m not sure it can do Dashcam as well, that’s a lot of data be reading and writing to a stick at any given time.
Let me know how you get on 🤓
@npoleary Hi Nick, tested just now. Made sure speed camera settings ok. Had radio on and started the Dashcam. All worked ok with local speed camera displayed. Switched radio to USB music and all worked fine too.
What I did find was that if the music from the USB was playing at the start the speed camera didn't show. Switched to radio, turned ignition off/on, started Dashcam and then switched to USB music and speed camera fine - all on the one memory stick. Doesn't like the second memory stick being there.
@npoleary hi Nick. Now seems to work fine when music already playing from USB stick. So to recap, music, Dashcam AND speed camera all working together on the one memory stick.
