    Andy Irons, he keeps his left hand/arm relaxed basically on his left knee, it creates a flowing seamless transition like a real connection to the wave...Same with Rob Machado, real fluid motion....Puts style into a ride, whether dynamic or going hard at it, or cruising..Keeps your hips and balance through the turn on point..

    Unfortunately, at 60 my body is much more upright on my bottom turns. At least I’m still on a short board. Loving these comparisons. Till next time. Thanks 🤙

    Hi Lakey! I love your analysis of snap variations and correct bottom turn techniques. The side by side breakdown of two professionals takes it to a new level and will translate to in water improvements. I have alot of bad habits to break this will help!!! Keep breaking it down! You are great at it🤩

    Please a tip to get your foot position right. I m mostly to far forward and push to much on the front foot. I know about it but can't resolve it, any drills I should focus on? I feel my back foot is slightly too open too. I surfed short fish and it helps to get the foot at the right spot but I regress over time once I get used to the board...

  • @vishalontheline
    @vishalontheline Год назад

    Thank you!! After you reviewed the footage - did you change your own bottom turn to be less hinge and more stacked or do your own body mechanics also play a role in your bottom turn's style? Also, for me, it is easier to do a bottom turn on my backside than my frontside. Is that normal?

    Great video. Where on the board is your target for your front foot? Do you ever move your front, or just the back foot (not just bottom turns, but in general)?

    • @Lakey_Peterson
      @Lakey_Peterson  Год назад +1

      Good question! Personally, I only move my front foot for turns when I’m riding a gun at say sunset! But on a regular shortboard, I keep my feet pretty neutral.
      In terms of the location of the front foot, it depends on the board and the boards ‘sweet spot’.

  • @draridan1
    @draridan1 10 месяцев назад

    Is the back foot flat, or are you on the ball of your foot? I was studying Jack Robinson bottom turn and his back foot looks flat. (My back foot comes up-I have tight ankles) Thanks, for the great detailed tips!

  • @ryanc1037

    This was a great, well explained video! My question, do you think adding a pump before the bottom turn helps in terms of getting the board to plane more first/go faster?

    • @Lakey_Peterson
      @Lakey_Peterson  Год назад +2

      I’ve actually tried to eliminate the pump down the bottom in the last few years. Race down the line and draw 1 smooth bottom turn. I think it looks more appealing and stylish
