In real world can i use this as a 4K video edit only drive ? "ONLY" for my 4K current project during edits which wont cross 200gb totally at any given time.
Thanks for the comment! I totally see it as a 4K editing drive, it has great speeds and all the required capacity for it. So I see no problem using it for 4K video editing.
@@AndriiTalksTech > Hi thanks for responding. Even the 500gb version should be ok ? Because it will always be kept at only 100gb - 300gb max occupancy (my 1 project equals 100gb data and max i do 3 projects at a time). When a project is over ill push that entire folder of assets onto my 4TB platter HDD as an archive, so the NVMe becomes free again.
@@AndriiTalksTech And which one is more good to buy WD SN750 or Samsung 980? I'm more confused between these two. 980 has latest tech like controller with hmb and SN750 has not so great hardware but having onboard dram!
@Ritwik Raj it strongly depends on work you do, generally I would recommend 980 for general usage, gaming and other stuff. For more professional work I would still pick one with DRAM on PCB
Thanks for the comment. MLC basically everything other then SLC :) But right, there might be a discussion about if it's a clean TLC or TLC+SLC as a dedicated cache...
sir please tell whether samsung 980 or kingston kc 2500 both 500 gb and my usage is generally the meetings and gta5 game so which one would you suggest?
@@AndriiTalksTech sir like I don’t have to edit large 4K videos maybe sometimes few I do else just some big games like fortnite and gta 5 so it would be alright?
No cause it's PCI-e Gen 3 not PCI-e Gen 4, and the PS5 requires a PCI-e Gen 4 SSD for better performance and similar performance with the build in SSD.
Hey Keihl, Thanks for a comment! On a paper sx8200 is better then 980, however these two SSD are different to compare. I think practically they would perform similarly and in the end it's up to you to decide which manufacturer to trust the best.
@@AndriiTalksTech Great video. The 980 is actually better on paper with 3500 mb/s read and 3000 mb/s write. The sx8200 pro is listed with 3350 mb/s read and 2800 mb/s write. But like you said, in reality these two are probably nearly identical.
@@leonj1873 Thanks a lot! Yea, I think they are somehow equal but I still prefer Samsung as better support from software and why are more time-proofed ;)
@@AndriiTalksTech Additionally xpg has this whole controller thing going on. It is believed, that they changed the controller for a cheaper one with worse performance. Linus tech tips wanted to make a video about that. Comparing all the different versions of that ssd. I don't know when the video comes out, but they said a while ago, that they have all versions they need for the test. I personally wanted to buy the xpg gammix s11 pro, that is just a sx8200 pro with a heat sink. Then I wanted to buy the kc2500, but then I found the 980 in sale for 107€. I don't know which one is really better. But the Samsung has higher iops and on paper the same read and write speads. So I hope it's a little better. But in normal use I would think that all three are pretty similar.
Indeed, I would also stick with Samsung if the price is the same for all of them I would go with Samsung + additional heatsink if you are constantly copying 1gb/s back and forth
I think it ends up with selection a manufacturer and trust to one. I mean you can't buy next to the line Samsung SSD with just 10$ more. So I think right now if you trust Sabrent the same or more than Samsung then It's not worthy it. However if Sabrent would have same SSD but with their prices it would be 10-20$ lower than Samsung S980.
I think in a cheap segment you can take a look at Sabrent Samsung and WD. They are pretty good with performence/price ratio. I'm using Samsung 970 Evo and 980 DRAMless. Have no problems with both.

The Samsung 980, it's been a year
980 indeed shows great results and very few issues with the performance, if even any

Hi will this perform well as a gaming drive?
@josef solis Hey there, I think it would do great job with gaming. Of course depends of a game, but generally should be enough for any modern game.
Yes I'm currently about to use one now and my reads are well over my sdd not a crushing blow but the data speeds are significantly enough
DRAM-less NVMe, is a No by me. I took the 500GB 970 Evo Plus instead.

Indeed DRAM-less NVMe are not for everyone but they have a good niche niche like MLC found :)
It's a MLC not TLC. 00:27
