Fun fact, the TAS for 1-1 is optimized to the point where it cannot get any faster by even a single frame, which sucks because theres a frame rule tha lets you enter screen transition every 22 frames, and if the TAS could shave even a single frame, it can enter the next level 21 frames sooner and be faster in the full run.
And what sucks even more is that h the e one frame could have been saved from the timer going down when you touch the flag and the level ends. Mario touches the flag the moment the timer is supposed to count down but it doesn’t for some reason
Ludwig: I am going to replicate the AI learning process Ludwig but later: Let me search up the world record Ludwig but even later: I am going to call a Mario pro
@@JCurry1123AI researcher here, training with a "human in the loop" is a very legit and well established machine learning technique, this gets a seal of approval from me!
Modern AI learns from searching the internet as well. Basically how chatgpt works. But raw machine learning is different but going forward we will see a hybrid of both being used.
3:09 No. It IS done by real time. I'm assuming you thought the pipe is slower real time, but faster in game time? But nah, the pipe is just straight up 3 seconds faster than playing through 1-1 without it. This is the only level in the game that has a pipe which saves time like that. But yeah, in game time is actually a really bad way to measure if you did it fast or not, because you could get the same time as someone else and be significantly slower, or you could even have a lower IGT and be faster. The world record speedrun for this game gets 369 in 1-1, for example, and beats the stage faster than you would getting 370 in this video. That being said, you got good at the staircase really fast :) and getting 370 in 100 runs (almost got it on 78) is great!
10:06 "I actually just got confirmation that was not perfect" Ludwig was unknowingly participating in some kind of speedrunning olympics, apparenty ⏱🏅 12:50 The Weather Channel song (it really is perfect for those challenging moments)! 😂
I actually got really excited when Ludwig finally got it. I pumped up my fists in victory only to realize “why am I so excited? I didn’t even do anything” lol
Isn't it always like this though? Its fairly straight forward in many skills to get to 50% in 3 months, 80% within a year, 95% within a couple. Its that 5% though, (and later that 0.1%) that will take you years to decades to master.
To those wondering why he didn't do the flagpole glitch, it's because that only saves time after the timer already stops. It's pointless if the goal is just "beat the level."
By going to RUclips and watching a run - and by learning from your chat - you’re circumventing at least 40 runs that the AI would have needed to learn from
this is an interesting thought, this really shows that the real life learning process is vastly different to how we teach AI's to do things and we instead thrive off some repetition but mostly structure, i saw a talk on the usage of topos in machine learning and this really makes it seem like the obvious route
I'd love to see a video where you play melee with stanz, one of you gets coached by zain and the other by Moky for one or two hours, then you play a ft5
This so interesting that I yesterday saw Summoning Salt's video and the 5k+runs in one video from someone I forgot the name od about Mario and thought about Ludwig not having speedran (as far as I know) Super Mario Bros. The coincidence is just fascinating
4:47 "How hard can saving 1 more second be" actual speedrunners can take months to years to shave off FRACTIONS of a second, saying that basically cursed you my man

Ai can also pass things along, by using data generated by ai to train ai half way, then switch to human data. But the most positive thing is that ai can run for 100 to 1000 times per second, and therfore train ALOT faster.

I agree. Hey Lud, come get your ideas from the comment section, they’re really good sometimes! 😂
Super mario 64 would be my vote for next entry in the series
God like series

It's all just training data and AI learning gets feedback, just via code :D

Sawyer was fucking great at coaching. I would watch a series of you doing this with lots of different games

I love how good he thought he was, when he got 1 off. But then he learned it had to be frame perfect
Thumbnail looking like a codebullet video.
My favourite part of the video was when he yelled "LETSA GO" and mario'd everywhere
Using Mario 64 doing goatsea cropped for the "30 runs later bit" was a powerful move editor
This was a fun stream to watch, him and sawyer were bouncing off each others energy pretty good, I hope he appears in more future videos!
This has taught me one thing. The moment AI are able to communicate and work with one another. We’re all screwed.
Full Super Mario Bros speed run with Sawyer0622 when?
this guy really knows how to play mario
am i the only one that noticed he didint say BOYS!! at the begining of the vid
I love how Lud can commit to literally anything
Congrats on beating 1-1 quickly. Now if you wanna learn how to beat the rest of the game quickly, hit me up.
Damn this is real
I can vouch
Its the guy from summoning salt
After reading your comments i kept noticing your name in the chat
Good job being the speedy Mario ambassador, Sawyer! 👍
Legend says he never finished those "last 2" runs

"if you wanna get better at this game, practice!"
ludwig: "nah"
"brute forc-"
ludwig: "HUMINAHUMINAHUMINAHUMINA"
Ludwig messing up and STILL getting (technically) a 370 is amazing
As Ludwig’s pipe game I can say that I did indeed get better throughout the video
It wouldn’t be a ludwig title if he didn’t just straight up lie
Peak Ludwig as usual. Makin me proud
