Actually, Grievous is tall as hell. He's 7'1 (2,16 Meters). He looks more shorter because he walks in that more curved way, it's more confortable to him.
@@Veyron722skyhook I might be completely wrong, but I would assume these last few key events leading up to the end of the war probably took place in a short period of time. Since they also killed Dooku, Grievous probably became the de facto leader of the CIS so he was probably busier than ever. So maybe he simply didn't have time to get repaired, and being an advanced cyborg would probably mean long/complex repairs at the facility he was created/maintained in.
I thought of that too, but then I decided that he wouldn't have had enough time & he was coughing too hard in this clip, so I decided to keep his chestplate damaged
@@DogeAnimations its a great detail, good call. If this were the movie it could be shown fixed later. Although in live-action it could have been cool to see a damaged Grievous walking around a bit longer.
1:13- I love how Greivous' chest-plate is a little bent in the center, showing physical evidence of when Windu Force-crushed it. Granted, I understand why this connection to the 2003-05 Clone Wars wasn't made in the films but it still would have been a nice detail. It would also have explained why the droid general appeared so much weaker and had that asthmatic cough.
@@delta2372 When I was growing up, pretty much everyone who saw Revenge of the Sith had seen the Clone Wars micro-series by then. My friends and I were excited to see that Grievous would be in the film.
@@delta2372 While I do much prefer his original micro-series portrayal, I never hated TCW Grievous. Yes, his tactics aren't as smart. He's not as intimidating, frequently retreating from fights he could plausibly win or just making stupid mistakes (even when accounting for arrogance) that leave him looking incompetent at best and a buffoon at worst. And yes, he gets captured by Gungans (No, I don't care that they're skilled warriors and Jar Jar just made them look bad, the original Grievous would have known better than to underestimate them to such a reckless degree). But those are all writing issues. Overall, his TCW counterpart still had his fair share of cool moments throughout the series. The episode at his home was particularly epic. It was awesome seeing him duel Obi-Wan, Kit Fisto, Ahsoka, and Ventress among others. His fights were well animated even if his speed & power were significantly nerfed, and I liked his look which adapted elements from RotS (my personal favorite design of the three, even if the CGI's dated). I also preferred Matthew Wood's voicework for him over John DiMaggio (not that DiMaggio did a bad job by any means, I liked him too; I simply found Matthew's deeper, more guttural voice more impacting and haunting). As for him being nerfed in combat, honestly, I can sympathize a lot with the animators for what they had to work with. As fans, we're pretty spoiled these days. Realistically, there was just no way to translate the original Grievous' lightning-quick movements into 3D. It would have most likely looked goofy and lost the stylization of Tartakovsky's animation (which, lest we forget, took obvious influence from the similarly fast-paced Samurai Jack). It came down to expectations. Fans saw a badass Jedi killer, and most wanted to see more of the same. To some extent though, a 3D Grievous was going to have to be slowed down as he was animated alongside the other characters who themselves moved with inhuman speed compared to their live-action counterparts. There had to be some compromises for practicality's sake. If Grievous had his Clone Wars speed, he'd have been running/jumping/flipping/spinning circles around everyone to the point of looking like nobody could even challenge him, thereby killing most of the suspense. Likewise, if everyone had been moving at similar speed, then every lightsaber duel would have been more expensive + time consuming to animate. Point being, if I personally had to choose between a slower, weaker Grievous in an otherwise very enjoyable show that expanded more on Star Wars characters & lore vs. a 100% faithfully represented Grievous that ate up the show's budget, I'd rather settle for the former. You're welcome to disagree, of course. That's just my POV.

You should have used the design of Grievous' crushed chest from the Mace Windu scene. It would be much more accurate. Also, the colors you used for Grievous are from Vol 1 CW. Vol 2 Grievous (Kidnapping of Palpatine scenes) was more yellowish. Other than that, it's very nice you make these.
Personally I think it would be a nice idea to give General Grievous his green chest plate (what’s it called?), his grey one broken (thank’s to Mace Windu) and replaced with a green glass case (what’s it called?).
My head canon as to why his voice changed and he got his cough, was because of what Windu did. The experience was such a disastrous event in his life that he was starting to lose his mind, hence why he's such a p***y in the 2008 Clone Wars.
I love how Grievous just has this "Frick my life" face the whole time.
If you watch 2003 clone wars you can see Obi Wan making a depressed face all the time
To be fair he just got his lungs crushed earlier.
In Legends, he DID have an operation making him constantly pissed off.
0:45 I like to imagine that Palpatine is actually concerned here, seeing as you know, it’s 2003 Grievous.
