  • "Since I Met You Baby" was recorded on January 17, 1969 and released on August 18, 1969. It was also released in 1956 by R&B singer Ivory Joe Hunter.
Here is what Sonny James had to say about "Since I Met You Baby".
"Beginning with “Since I Met You Baby”. That song was written by Ivory Joe Hunter and I would say two years before he passed away I was doing a personal appearance in Monroe Louisiana where he lived and I had done in earlier years I had done “Since I Met You Baby”. Then I did another song that Ivory Joe wrote, “Empty Arms” later and he told me in Monroe. He said son back there when you did those songs for me my catalog was just, his catalog of songs that publishers had. He said they were just laying there and wasn't anybody touching them, any of the recorded ones or the one that had never been recorded. And he said once you did “Since I Met You Baby” he said all of the sudden my whole catalog they started doing songs I'd forgotten I'd written. He would just overly thank you, thank you and he was a real likable person and very personable and I've always liked Blues and I told him that naturally that just fit my style. The way I like to play blues on the guitar but most musicians do. Most country musicians like Blues and even what ever kind of musician, they either like Dixieland or Blues. It's a relaxing sort. We became friends. I met him a number of years ago only when I was doing Ed Sullivan show pretty regularly and he was on one of the shows once and we became friends there and over the years we would exchange maybe letters or occasional song of his. So it wasn't really that much of a surprise I don't believe that I would do one of his songs. This was years later he was not only expressing his gratitude like he had earlier by letter but in person. He just lived a year and a half, two years longer and during that time he made two or three visits to Nashville. He would appear on the Grand Ole Opry and the crowd you know just went wild when he would sing and they knew of course some of his songs through me, my doing em and naturally he had an awful lot of fans. He was an excellent writer and performer too."

The world went and got itself in a big damned hurry, most people can't listen this slow anymore.
My mother would play his albums when I was little, so I became quite fond of his music. One of the biggest crimes in our house was if you swiped the change off the needle arm, we learned quickly why too.

C this magical thing came out called electronics and it massively evolved and nobody truly knows how to play n instrument or sing...
Auto tune or lip sync wasn't huge yet...but that just my opinion lol I'm only 35 and I can't stand today's music .. I was born in the wrong era

Danny O-Artists like Garth Brooks and Vince Gill came along and ruined country music, that's what happened. Fortunately for me I have a Sirius XM Satellite radio in my car that I have set to Willie's Roadhouse, which plays nothing but traditional country music.

This song brings back such bittersweet memories..my ex husband and I used to dance to this..we were so happy for two years, then he started going out on me. We divorced and I was left with my beautiful daughter to raise by myself...I am now remarried for 24 years to a wonderful man who adores me...but every now and then I remember those long ago, carefree happy times, and my heart feels squeezed for just a few minutes...

I could listen to this man's music all night long....He's a country legend. I can remember hearing his music way back in the mid-70's as a teenager and just admiring his mastery on the guitar and the wonderful songs he recorded. If there ever was a artist that deserved to be in the Country Music Hall of Fame, it's Sonny James.

I'm in a Sonny mood, which is a good thing :-) I can't get enough & can tell any Sonny song by just the first couple notes of his guitar. Another interesting story is when Sonny did a phone interview & they asked where he was. He was in Canada & said Just a little bit south of Saskatoon. Years later after no one made a song out of that, Sonny did & I believe it was one of the 25 singles between 1964 & 1972 that went to #1 AS 21 of those 25 singles did. It was played & told on the old Ralph Emory show on TNT :-)

인천 동인천 앞 일번지 다방에서 처음 들었던 곡이다
    박문여고 출신 조영희와 같이 들었던....
    지금도 그떄 샌각하며 자주 듣고있다
    보고싶다
