I'm kinda new to Squad 44 (and also Squad) and like them both for different reasons. The worst aspect for me so far is the tank driving is very awkward, moving left and right is way too jerky. However, since there are no automatic gears, meaning you have to manually shift them, is challenging and realistic I guess. I'd love to be able to play more tanks, but I find vet players grab them and lock the squads making actual learning in battle for newer players hard. I still have to understand how to put FOBs up in both games, my understanding of how to squad lead is very ropey and, again, I haven't found anyone yet willing to show in-game how to do these things. Anyway, I was considering HLL too but I think I'll give S44 a good go first. It doesn't look amazing up close, BUT it looks great on REALISTIC deep engagements.. Where HLL, a guy at 500m is a few pixels.. In Squad 44 you can literally make out what team a guy at 700m is, by if he is running with his rifle in one or two hands! Its a give or take. Those looking for a REALISTIC EXPERIENCE will pick Squad 44, of the two...
Funny, if you actually knew how far 500m was in real life, you definitely would not be able "clearly" see a guy especially in terrain whatnot. HLL actually has it more realistic. But, I will agree it is annoying sometimes that it is hard to see a person in game even at 100 or 200m. But it's realism. We are so used to seeing people in the streets, in cities, none of us have done combat in rugged, dirt, green terrain, etc and sitting and camping. I remember making a comment long time ago about Post Scriptum vs HLL. Lotta die hard fans were malding about the realism. I played both. PS is old as hell and so is Squad whereas HLL is newer. Graphics are better because of the newness in HLL and of course, I still stand by that HLL is more realistic than post scriptum. Now if we REALLY want to argue what's more realistic in a FPS, Escape from Tarkov tops everything.
@@YonexCC no d00d..... the point it. HLL is beautiful...... IN THE FIRST 50-100m. where realistic deep engagements happen, Squad takes the cake. period
@@boogie5 I mean, HLL is beautiful all around and at any range compared to PS and Squad. Again, those two are dated games that used to look good in their early stages of their release. Squad is probably better at long range engagements in combat, but simply because you can easily see people at long distances (which as I mentioned previously, isn't "realistic") because of how bright the game is as well as the dated textures. But I'd argue HLL has better medium and is top tier for within 100m engagements. Difference of opinion. #HLL4life
Played alot of hours HLL, around 66min Squad 44. In my opinion, weapon handling feels alot smoother in Squad 44. Dont know if its poorly made, or the intention in HLL to make it harder.
Looks like its early beta detail with buggy glitching, Ill stick to HLL until this game looks better and runs smoother. Action looking very good though. Details on squad play etc would be great to see and then more may jump to it.
They won't be able to compete with HLL. Ever. Like it or not, every gamer likes to think of themselves as hardcore, and would be insulted if you tell them they aren't, but most simply are not. Most games are somewhere between hardcore and casual, leaning much more towards casual. Just the way it is. HLL is much more of a casual game. Que the HLL players saying it's hardcore. No, it's really not. And I really like HLL. But no, it's not hardcore. It's funny they will say it is because you have to use teamwork. While that can help, the reality is that you don't actually need teamwork. And I've even been on the winning side that didn't even have a Commander, while the other side did. The weapons have no weight, and you have unlimited stamina. Unlike WWIIOL Chokepoint, you can see who is on what side through the symbols. Chokepoint you have to visually ID people. Like HLL with the tags off. You can sprint from your HQ to the enemy HQ, without ever taking a rest. You can sprint through a bush without slowing down, unlike Squad 44. The SL can put up spawns all the way across the map with no help at all. No? I've done it. Get to where I want to put one up, put my OP down, redeploy, kick the Support guy who wouldn't respond to my request. Then spawn at my OP as Support, put down supply, redeploy as Officer, and place down a garrison. Trucks and tanks are not restricted to roads or easy terrain as in real life. You can drive though trees, fences, barbed wire, rocks, etc. I could make a very long list, but you get the idea. It's not hardcore. It is however, fun. And that's why it won't be replaced. WWIIOL and Squad 44 are far more hardcore. Anyone who says HLL is hardcore, does NOT know what a hardcore game is. I will tell you this. They tend not to be as popular, because again, most gamers are not hardcore. It's literally the reason that arena shooters are the most popular form of shooter. Oh sure, they are fun, and they are fast and furious, but they aren't hardcore. What games would I consider hardcore? WWIIOL ARMA, especially with many of the realism mods. Star Citizen "MIGHT" end up hardcore, but the jury is still out, since it's not finished. Squad 44 Now, I'm only talking about military type shooters or games with a heavy emphasis on that kind of game play. I'm not talking about survival games, or fantasy type games. Obviously the Souls games are hardcore, and many survival games are hardcore, especially with mods that put even more of an emphasis on survival, and heavily penalizes mistakes, like getting wet in a cold lake/river in a winter area. But most shooters are not hardcore. And most gamers will tell you that they want a game they can just hop into and start shooting. No matter how hard that is, it's not hardcore. It just requires more twitch skill. That's not what makes a game hardcore. In fact, most hardcore games don't rely heavily on twitch ability.
3:42 Nice shot! But this is exactly why this game isn't popular in it's current state. Even Hell Let Loose suffers from this: Impeccable accuracy... OWI did a great job in Squad in that if you don't have a scope, chances are you're not doing long range combat. Even with a scope it's difficult... I don't believe that these guns from WW2 held by soldiers with minimal training and combat experience should be able to shoot so perfectly. What would make the game fun is: running from cover to cover, seeing bullets hit nearby objects, occasionally getting hit. But to get sniped by anyone at any range after running for 5 minutes is just tough.
Just got squad and squad 44 I am hoping my Nvidia 1660 TI and I7 beginner PC will run it, if not I will keep playing DayZ until I can upgrade and play more games. 😂
@@graustreifbrombeerkralle1078 you can literally look up the steam charts, there was a small pop when they changed the name and now its back to under 300 peak players
Honestly as cool as this game is, I think its just too similar to Hell let Loose, even as Hell let Loose leans further towards arcade and farther from sim. There's still a ton of overlap with the design of this game. OWI will need to push hard to revamp the way this game plays, to make it unique. But rn, it has no place on the market.
From what im seeing only thing this game going for it would be the sound effects. The maps look like your in a basic training mock town setup that doesn't look all war torn or anything like HLL
It depends. If you want a super immersive, authentic and PTSD-inducing WW2 simulator, then yes, it puts HLL to shame. If you want a semi-realistic, arcadey WW2 shooter that allows to you to play solo while running and gunning, HLL is the better choice.
If sqaud 44 had the same atmospherics and ambience of HLL Id be back playing it, the battlemaps are so sterile they are more like training towns than actual frontline engagements, it totally kills the vibe for me.
the final thoughts are really good; bought this game when it was possible for the first time and forgot it existed, HLL just overtook it so much in the meantime, squad 44 just seems irrelevant as a game right now and doesn't make impact at all.
I played BF and CoD franchise since i was a kid (first BF was Vietnam and first CoD was OG CoD2 back in early 2000s). In my opinion, Squad is what Battlefield should have evolved to - but it didn't. That is the reason why its dying right now(BF). CoD did partially good joy with Warzone, introducing bigger maps, somewhat good weapons customization etc but now they need to innovate in order to hold player base.. Don't know, maybe im getting older and enjoy more tactical FPS games with teamwork (i hate Tarkov, its stupid). Its just sad to see that both BF and CoD franchise are not moving. Nothing new is happening. With Squad, every match is different, community is strong and hilarious, comms are done almost perfectly etc. Its not the prettiest game, but it sure gives me the adrenaline rush when running away from creeping barrage, like cod and bf used to give me as a kid. I think that the older audience needs to say goodbye to both the franchises and we need to move on to games like Squad and PS. I think every (almost) 30 y/o +- would agree.
Battlefield's issue is with the decisions that they have made for the past few years. Imagine not listening to the people who actually supported and bought the game. DICE drove their fans away.
@@khalee95 not just that imo. it just doesn't get me that adrenaline rush as before. i remember in BF3 days, i played it my buddy's house, i was laying down trying not to get shot. BF now is just like cod. Run, shoot, die, respawn - repeat. Squad on the other hand is much like BFs of the olden days. There is much more at stake, every vehicle counts, every kill counts. Much better system. But that's just me and I'm almost 30 at this point. Don't know about you, but BF looks and feels like a game for kids.
@@graustreifbrombeerkralle1078 in my case it started at 25 haha. First bought squad then PS and that other more casual WW2 "sim" and i just stayed on Squad and Post Scriptum. I recommend Squad because its just awesome. The teamwork you will encounter is next level. 2 squads have to cooperate to feed HATs (heavy anti tank class) to destroy a tank, snipers, MAT-Vs, BTRs of any kind. It's just awesome. The start of the game is a little bit slow but when it starts - oh boy it starts. I even got schooled by a US army veteran on Russian tactics when the war in Ukraine started, and we actually steamrolled the other team (he was commander), you learn vehicles and their types. Such a good game. And when you win or loose a good game - when you win or lose by 5 points - its the best feeling no matter if you lost. Invasions matches lasting for 2-3 hours...
HLL players talk mess about this game because it takes more skill to be good at the game, and they don't have the patience to learn. They just wanna run and gun and use automatic weapons and go lone wolf. HLL isn't a bad game, but much more arcadey and accessible. Squad 44 requires more communication and teamwork, but the payoff is worth it, and the skill ceiling is way higher. If graphics are a main concern, you've already lost the argument. Gameplay is king.
I think you pretty much nailed it that Squad 44 is where you go if you want the tactical experience and feeling of a true war. Hell Let Loose is more accessible, less teamwork dependent, and a much faster-paced game. I believe Hell Let Loose also significantly benefits from the progression they offer players. The prospect of acquiring new loadouts or outfit pieces may retain a good amount of players. Squad 44 has none of this. Not even an overall level. And neither does Squad. However, their modern tactical shooter is completely unrivaled. Squad 44 likely has very weak bones in regards to the infrastructure. Who knows what coding disasters awaited OWI and Mercury Arts. They have my confidence and I know it will take some time. In the meantime, players should really give Squad 44 a chance. Despite their identical setting and genre, Squad 44 offers a unique experience for players that have stuck by Hell Let Loose.
It depends. If you want a super immersive, authentic and PTSD-inducing WW2 simulator, then yes, it puts HLL to shame. If you want a semi-realistic, arcadey WW2 shooter that allows to you to play solo while running and gunning, HLL is the better choice.
I prefer Squad44 a lot more than Squad, but probably because I prefer the more simple weapons and exchanges where not everyone is a sniper with a scoped autoloader. It's a lot easier to avoid friendly fire also with fairly clear demarcation between uniforms. I play logistics most the time, but branch out slowly.
I prefer Hell Let Loose. something about the colour in this game it’s too vibrant/saturated doesn’t have the WW2 vibe HLL does. Seems like a half decent game tho otherwise
This is from the latest update a month ago, I'm guessing LevelCap did not adjust his settings other than to turn everything to epic. It doesn't have to look like this
@@jethro377 everyone playing this it’s looked the same. grass is like mushroom trip vibrant green, sky is purple. it’s not dogshit I just think as a whole HLL just looks more legit in everyway. Death animations, guns too the rifles look so so far away from your playing in squad it’s awkward. I’m sure it plays decently well but the eye test doesn’t lie. It’s too pretty looking for WW2 in that way. I’d definitely give it a try? but idk.
I really like the gritty feel of HLL and I exactly get what you're saying, however in real life the world looks pretty vibrant when the sun shines you know. I think it's the color pallet used rather than the vibrancy/saturation, like some maps have weird looking purples and stuff, that's what I noticed atleast.
What's also funny is that all those old ww2 footages can trick us in believing that the world was greyer than it is today, but ofcourse that's not true.
@@ExiLeZH yeah no that’s exactly it tho, we witness world war 2 from that old footage, and while yeah the world has always looked as it does in real life, but making the game LOOK like that grainy old footage actually does make it feel more immersive and accurate for the time even tho sure it probably looked more like 44. But giving it that saving private ryan/Band of Brothers look makes it feel more real even if it’s not actually perfectly accurate for that era
squad 44 was a last ditch effort to get people to play it, thousands and thousands of people watch videos on the game every day but still no one plays it which is a shame, rarely averages 500+ players
@@fourohsevenfishingAs long as the game is enjoyable and populated servers are easily found at any time, I don't see the problem. Ofcourse it also needs active developement otherwise it'll just die out over time. Not sure if that's the case though, I don't own the game. But the other guy was right, games like this will never ever reach cod/bf player counts and that's just facts, no need to defend the game, again I don't even own it.
Post scriptum vet, tried hell let loose when PS pop died down, couldn’t do it. The player controlled artillery killed me so many god damn times. I get that you’re supposed to have snipers taking them out but that’s a small portion of the team. The people pushing objectives can just get pounded. Dying over and over to stupid shit is never fun
@@graustreifbrombeerkralle1078 having the same players playing the game for years does prove its alive but failing to retain new players is a sign of it not doing very well
My main issue with this game and HLL that I have noticed is the severe lack of players playing medic. Not sure if it’s a time period thing or an individual game thing but in squad, there is an abundance of medics running around picking people up, but in HLL I often feel like the matches turn into a “spawn, die, spawn, die” grind that becomes unenjoyable after a while.
Could be but they seriously need to work on the optimization. Its utter trash. I have the game but it crashes when i try to join the match because i run out of ram....
Sorry, i‘am team Hell Let Loose… for me so much better…i love the atmosphere in this game…immersive sound, great graphics… i love that „band of brothers-filter“…the maps are accurate. Just a masterpice 😍 Squad44 looks so- clean and bright… the texture are so flat…
Nah. The name Post Scriptum is widely associated with a dead game. Squad 44 is a fresh layer of paint while also referencing Squad, a quite well-known game.
It's obvious you are a HLL player. A medic is supposed to stick with his squad and revive players. Not go Rambo all by his lonesome. This game is all about Team Work and Communication, not individualism. A medic gets acclaim for the number of revives, not kills. ps... It was a Panther, not a Tiger. And it had it's left track blown off. That AT gunner must have been delighted to have a sitting duck for a target.
im not a fan of how this game looks, i dont find the graphics, textures, or lighting all the impressive. boring sky boxes, weak lighting, low details. Hell Let Loose looks so much better as well as the gun models and the sights of weapons.
I have over 800 hours of hell let loose. The gunplay in squad 44 looks so much more fun and tactical though compared to HLL and that is something I crave.

#HLL4life
With new graphics lighting overhaul and added haze, the visibility is not clear now as use to be...
I have try to play the game 1 month ago when it was 50% off on steam the game had litteraly 2 server running😅 so yeah i got money back
It heavily depends on the day of the week and especially the time of the day or you're trying to hop on.
Played alot of hours HLL, around 66min Squad 44. In my opinion, weapon handling feels alot smoother in Squad 44.
Dont know if its poorly made, or the intention in HLL to make it harder.
Let me jump over this river 😅, it is called a stream. Its like a mini river. You'll see loads in Europe.
Looks like its early beta detail with buggy glitching, Ill stick to HLL until this game looks better and runs smoother. Action looking very good though. Details on squad play etc would be great to see and then more may jump to it.
"From the details it looks like a proto game type"
lvl just described "Battlefield 2042" from the release till date 😂
absolutely love this game and it needs some new players to check out it, but its NOT for the weak minded and it takes testicular fortitude
They should put heaps of cycles or something to get back to the frontlines quicker 😂
I see they're really trying to compete with Hell Let Loose. Sounds a little bit late now lol.
this came out before HLL
@@mondaymurder23 Yes I know, and it was shit. Hence why a lot of their player base went to HLL, including me. HLL is still better
WWIIOL
ARMA, especially with many of the realism mods.
Star Citizen "MIGHT" end up hardcore, but the jury is still out, since it's not finished.
Squad 44
Now, I'm only talking about military type shooters or games with a heavy emphasis on that kind of game play.

Both games offer a vastly different gaming experience.
And again i can see that the front is in The Netherlands

Nope. It's the same game.

There are more than enough. You have a better chance if you try during weekends and/or in the evening.
my dude! lower your gamma! try 2.05 or so. perhaps TAA as well.
Post scriptum was unique
Looks like a walking simulator
Depends on the team a lot.
I am optimistic, is more milsim then HLL
I just can’t see myself playing this over hll. Especially with hll strong player base.
1:22 aren't you guys supposed to fight
I enjoy Hell Let Loose more because it’s on console 😂 If squad or this game wants my money & attention, we’ll they know what to do.
Still hoping that some indie studios will challenge the BF series. Seems like everyone goes the milsim route and i'm not a fan of those games.
The most UNDERRATED game out!
I have been waiting and waiting for you to cover this!

I wish BFV support wasn't cut off for garbagefield 2042.
Been playing Hell Let Loose which smokes this game here. Battlefield is done for me. They made it into cod
@@chadgrov Doesn't really count when you're stuck on console. You coudln't even play S44 if you wanted to
If they want more players they should bring it to consoles
Not a good idea. This game totally is not suitable for consoles.

Still wrong pronounciation. The correct way of saying Veghel requires phonemes that are not known in English languages.
Drink your canteen!!! Your stamina is low and has a huge impact.
From what im seeing only thing this game going for it would be the sound effects. The maps look like your in a basic training mock town setup that doesn't look all war torn or anything like HLL
is it better than hell let loose?
It depends. If you want a super immersive, authentic and PTSD-inducing WW2 simulator, then yes, it puts HLL to shame. If you want a semi-realistic, arcadey WW2 shooter that allows to you to play solo while running and gunning, HLL is the better choice.
Needs to launch on consoles and wipe out hell let loose
Won't happen. S44 is not suitable for consoles at all.
this is the same game as hell let loose lol
These games need more players per match, maps are to big
from the first look i have to say that the town looks far to clean. HLL has far better visuals. but i try to give it a chance
130 players currently playing 44. Yikes.
I agree. I'm 25 and I feel like an old man when looking at the prevalent (movement) speed in CoD/Battlefield.
@@SM-qo9gr
Yeah, I'm more or less aware of that. Still, not really into that modern stuff. I prefer Post Scriptum :D
But is it better than HLL?
It depends. If you want a super immersive, authentic and PTSD-inducing WW2 simulator, then yes, it puts HLL to shame. If you want a semi-realistic, arcadey WW2 shooter that allows to you to play solo while running and gunning, HLL is the better choice.
Weird name?
European scenery?
Nerherlands.
For the third time, S44 is a niche game. Such low play counts are "normal".

But the other guy was right, games like this will never ever reach cod/bf player counts and that's just facts, no need to defend the game, again I don't even own it.
Post scriptum vet, tried hell let loose when PS pop died down, couldn’t do it. The player controlled artillery killed me so many god damn times. it should just be rolled into squad and be added to the server rotation for everyone.
the value add to squad would increase sales for both.
The only thing with this and He'll let loose is the lack of a hud,I get frustrated not being able to spot the enemy quickly enough 😂
M1 sight is irritating to me
My main issue with this game and HLL that I have noticed is the severe lack of players playing medic. Not sure if it’s a time period thing or an individual game thing but in squad, there is an abundance of medics running around picking people up, but in HLL I often feel like the matches turn into a “spawn, die, spawn, die” grind that becomes unenjoyable after a while.
Thing is… both Enlisted and Hell let Lose look a lot better
Could be but they seriously need to work on the optimization. Its utter trash. I have the game but it crashes when i try to join the match because i run out of ram....
They're working on that.
Sorry, i‘am team Hell Let Loose… for me so much better…i love the atmosphere in this game…immersive sound, great graphics… i love that „band of brothers-filter“…the maps are accurate. Just a masterpice 😍
Squad44 looks so- clean and bright… the texture are so flat…
his settings arent the best tbh brightness way too high
i love that they revived this game (: although they need to change the name back squad 44 is such a shit name.
I have 700 hours in HLL , but I like Squad 44 more. Better tactical shooter.
