That was his real question that people didn't understand. He got very defensive.

@Soldier of Truth Judaism is a religion but jew isn't about Judaism, if you would study history iou would know that jews are one nation originating in middle east that went to diaspora and invented the jewish religio n in order to maintain jewish identity, because jews weed Afraid to mix with non jews so they decided that only who mother is jew and believes in Judaism then the person is a jew, that way even if jewish woman marry with Christian he will be jew and if he wants to convert he will remain je

One thing to note is that legally speaking, under Moroccan law every Moroccan jew around the world has Moroccan citizenship and can get a passport. That's pretty unique.
I wasn’t surprised by this video because I’ve been to Morocco myself a few times & I know how nice & welcoming Moroccan people are.

in morocco yes .... if you talk to actual moroccon people they are disgusted by how allot of moroccans in europe act
In Netherlands the Moroccan immigrants and their offspring behave like shit towards us indigenous. Criminal, violent and Racist. Many Dutch people were murdered by ethnic Moroccans in Netherlands.
@@noidontthinksolol I'm a Moroccan in Europe and I work very hard and follow the rules even more than natives. Please don't generalize, because these generalizations are the reason why some Europeans only focus on the bad things some Moroccans do. Yes I can confirm some Moroccans here make our reputation trash but lots of us also integrate well into that society, work hard, follow the rules and pay taxes like everyone else yet you still get some lazyass Europeans who don't even work talk shit about us and now even some Moroccans from Morocco are following it like you do now but guess what if you or a family member of you decided to come here they'll also get the some judgement because of their background.
@@noidontthinksolol Also people are individuals. And I noticed it stops being like that when we're talking about immigrants from Africa or the Middle East but once a white guy commits a crime or do a mass shooting in a mosque like what happened in NZ then it's an individual act. But if a Moroccan did a bad thing then it's Moroccans fault, if they did an achievement then they're not Moroccan anymore they're a European citizen or resident and have nothing to do with Morocco. I hope you see the double standards.

I think there is a miscommunication problem. When Corey asks " do you EXPECT them to come back...", they understand "do you WANT them to come back...".

Encore heureux !

The Moroccan Jewish population reached about 250,000 people in the late 1940s, making up 10 percent of the national population. But the vast majority left after the creation of Israel in 1948, many of them fleeing local hostilities directed at them over the establishment of the Jewish state. About 3,000 Jews remain in Morocco today.
-Times of Israel
Interesting 🤔. That would mean there were more Jews in Morocco than Palestine.
Ottoman census for Palestine in 1878
Muslim - 403,795 or 85.5%
Christian - 43,659 or 9.2 %
Jewish - 15,001 or 3.2% Jewish (Foreign-born) - Est. 10,000 or 2.1%
Most of the 15,001 were Palestinian Jews.

israel co opted them in or after 1948, and then brainwashed many ideologically to turn on many, especially arabs and iran, natives of the middle east. that's xtremely rich, since the state of israel had no history there prior to 1948.
@@solvingpolitics3172As a Moroccan I agree that it's sad that so many Moroccan have forgotten about our long history. Luckily my Amazigh parents were very aware of how much Jewish traditions have influenced our culture and told me all about it. I do consider the culture of Morocco to be a Morccan-Jewish blend. ❤
makes no sence@@FatiFleur-jn7ky
I don’t think it’s lost. Historically, Jews have always lived around the whole of Mediterranean Sea, interacting with other peoples. Restoration of Israel has been a traumatic experience to the Jews and Arabs, but that will pass. It’s only been 75 years, which on the scale of the Middle East is nothing. Once the dust settles, I think things will fall back to their natural order, only in modern reality. Which means re-emergence of bustling and thriving Jewish communities around this eternal sea.
I don't see a contrast: being welcoming is a great part of morrocan culture.
You should know that if you are born in Morocco or have Moroccan nationality you cannot remove it even though you have the nationality of any other country if you are Moroccan nationality it is forever no matter your Muslim, Jewish, Christian or atheist.

@@dogbert52 I personally believe, not something from my religion necessarily, but I think that whoever the ultimate source of energy or g-d is, planned each one of our lives differently with different variables but wants us to reach the same goal eventually. Everything we do, every single one of our paths, are already decided....no matter what life path you take....I think that we are all just trying to reach eternal happiness, liberty and spiritual enlightenment. Your path can be via any religion (Judaism, Hinduism, Christianity etc) or belief system, but one thing is for sure, it is what was meant for you. You were meant to be whoever or whatever makes you happy and brings your life a purpose and fulfilment. Your path is your truth, your reality is your truth. My beliefs are my truth and so are yours. But none of our truths is the universal truth because human beings can never be so enlightened as to know the whole cosmic truth. Only the power above us knows. We dont know anything.
I think having a state for jews themselves is a good thing. cultures should be a sacred thing, mixing them up actually promotes division
@@noidontthinksolol I also think that we should have separate spaces for all religions because religion, by default, is not secular. but what we need to have is an innate understanding of peace and tolerance, we are not better than the other, that is. we can all live in harmony, which is what secularity is about but we should also honour the privacy of certain religions and individuals

@Maya El not rude. Just factual.
This question is worded weirdly, mainly because of the word "expect". Does Corey mean "Do you want Moroccan jews to come back?" or does he mean "Is it okay for Moroccan jews to come back?" or "Do you think it is likely they will come back?" or "Do you think they want to come back?", all interpretations with potentially very different answers. The "expect" word has ambiguous meaning and hence the interviewees just guessed at what Corey was implying. They mainly interpreted the question as, "Is it okay for the Morrocan Jews to come back", which i think is the straighforward question that he should have asked.
Also, Corey seemed fixated on the idea that all Moroccan Jews want to stay in Israel, but forgot that there are hundreds of thousands of Moroccan Jews OUTSIDE Israel too, mainly in France, UK, Canada, United States, Spain, Portugal and even still a few in Morocco
500,000 descendants in Israel, 50,000 in France, 27,000 in Canada, 12,000 in Spain.
Ask the same question in Egypt and you will need to run. The Moroccan Jews are allowed to keep their Moroccan nationality. In Egypt they took the Egyptian nationality away.
Are you sure about that? A close friend of mine who is Jewish went all over Egypt and was open about the fact that he is Jewish and didn't have any problems. Where do you get your information from?

As a mizrahi jew, 1/4 morrocan, it is really healing to see the morrocan attitdue toward jews, i know its less likely to hear people in syria and eygept (where my other granparents are from) speak that way about jews. That guy who said jews can be a great plus to the society, in 3:24 that was touching.
As Moroccans we have zero problems with Jews. Everyone who says otherwise is a liar.
Moroccan people are warm, welcoming and far more intelligent and open-minded that all other Arab countries.
That's because we're not Arabs.
That's BS. All Arabs and Muslims are just as intelligent, warm, open, educated and welcoming. Just don't invade and kill them
@@karimb972 Many Arab countries have racist policies and hateful discourses, towards France, Israel or Black people mostly. And the one who invades the other are Arabs in Europe who don't assimilate (refuse to marry their daughter to a Frenchman or refuse to adopt the local way of life for instance) and cause most of violence and crime in Western countries. Of course not all Arabs, but many makes problem. Usually these are not Moroccans, but mostly Arab Algerian Supremacists. In the end, nothing justify hatred towards anyone because of his origin, so nothing justify hating someone because he is merely Arab or Palestinian or merely Israeli or merely French or anything. Unfortunately, many people in Arab countries consider it is OK to hate and attack a random person because of his nationality.
All Arabs are like this. Just don't kill their brethren. That's all

Someone must bring tourists from Morocco to Israel, so that they can see the truth, that they go ask Arabs in the mixed cities how they live, that they go and see what is happening between Gaza and Israel, let them talk to Muslim Arab soldiers, so that they understand that everything they see and hear about Israel is a lie.
It is getting easier for us to come to israel 🇮🇱 due to the normalisation of relations.

@@alexvisser4542sure.. we can't say we like it when a Jew marries a Muslim and raise their children as Muslims.. there is always the chance that they would feel more connected to Islam, and fight to make Israel a Muslim state.. but it's not like it's forbidden.
I guess it's like a Moroccan not wanting his children marrying Christians, and making Morocco a Christian country.

Not true. As Moroccans we face discrimination at the border police. Very humiliating. We offer hospitality in Morocco, but we don’t get it back in Israel.

Nice to see how respectful moroccans are.
I’d like to see you next make a video like this in Tunisia. There is 1,500 Jews living there, mostly in Djerba Island.
That dude who knew the channel (4th dude i think) was so handsome
Ask morocan jews why they dont join the Moroccans in israel?
When it comes to my family, we don't necessarily feel the need to. My family and I have higher standards of living in Morocco than we would in Israel. In Morocco, we are upper-middle class, we have plenty of space, pretty low taxes, there is no lack of community, access to the beach and plenty of fresh, very cheap seafood. Granted, we do have the option to go to the States whenever we'd like, and a lot of our wealth was made in the US. If we were more observant, Israel would be more appealing, that's for sure. But that's not the case.
@@hillal8105 Where in Morocco are you from? Casablanca? Can't be from Marakkech, only a few elderly Jews there now. What do you know about the Amazigh Jews like the Chleuh, Jews of the Atlas etc?
I'm not Jewish but I'm quite familiar with Antisemitic views in MENA & with the Israeli-Palestinian debate in general. This video is surprisingly heart-warming to me because many of the interviewed seem very open-minded towards Jews in general (an also towards Israel up to some extent).
Because Moroccans are not Arabs, we are Berbers/Amazighs and we don’t belong to the Middle East!
Yes but Morocco is only one of the MENA countries and has always held a different position on Israeli affairs.
Yes, Moroccans don't have a problem with the jews, for us there is no difference between Muslims and jews we are all Moroccans. However, we think that the establishment of Israel was not fair, and Israel committed massacres and ethnic cleansing since its establishment. We always take the Palestinian side, not because of islam but because of humanity. Even palestiniens were not antisemitic, they actually welcomed the jews in their own homes when the west expelled them for years, but they betrayed them and they stole the country. BTW none of the arab countries is actually arab except for the arab gulf, we just have dialects inspired from arabic that's why they call us the arab world 😅.
Corey - would be great to ask the same question in Ukraine, Poland and Hungary - I suspect the responses wouldn't be so warm but I am open to being suprised.

First of all, it is evident that they are really great people. There is undoubtedly much to learn from their kindness here in Israel 😉. Regarding the person's comment at 5:35, it is disheartening that they seem to lack awareness of the situation here. Allow me to clarify: I am currently attending college, and approximately half of the students are Israeli Arabs, who are ordinary citizens just like anyone else. Moreover, let's address their claim that Israel being a Jewish state is somehow problematic. Isn't Morocco a Muslim country? Isn't Switzerland considered a Christian country? It's amusing to me that this person is complaining about Israel being a Jewish state-the only Jewish state in existence-while overlooking the presence of numerous Muslim countries around the world - including the country he himself is in. This land holds a profound significance in the hearts of the Jewish people; it is our only homeland. On the other hand, everyone is welcome here as long as they embrace peace and reject terrorism. Every citizen enjoys full rights and respect. I sincerely hope that we can know each other better and that everyone will genuinely wish the best for one another 😊.

The big question I'd ask Moroccans, is whether they think an escalation of the conflict they have with neighboring Algeria can be averted. As an Israeli, I know that war in the Maghreb would be a consummate disaster for ourselves as well, as we're pretty much engaged, politically and even militarily, on Morocco's side, and we simply can't play the neutrality card like we are regarding the Ruscist aggression in Ukraine. If this happens, we will be obligated to at least pass the ammo, and whatever intel our systems are able to collect thus far from our borders.
unfortunetly our conflict with algeria will never be, as the algerians operate from a place of envy to the moroccan people making their country thrive without any natural resources, theyre trying to split our country i n half to consequently have access to the atlantic sea, which is abig stab in the back to moroccans who refused to draw theur borders with neighbouring algeria after we got our independence and choose to support algerian independence defying france, the king back then in 1954 made a speech in the UN about algeria and the importance of ending their opression only for them to create a polisario front of sahrawi sepratists that never even lived on the land most from mali, and the ewastern sahara... we are closer with jews that we lived with for years than we are with the algerian regime
The war is not possible, the whole conflict is just the Algerian regime posturing and creating a rivalry out of thin air to justify holding to power, they have no intention of actually going to war but would like to keep the status quo, and keep the tensions high at all times, because the threat of a war with morocco justifies keeping the opposition in check and labeling anyone who opposes the regime a traitor, plus the military junta benefits from an arms race as they surely get kickbacks and benefit from corruption
as a moroccan living in Morocco I would like to say and represent my people as well Morocco never had a problem with me Algeria and we've always tried to befriend them and our duty to offer them help whenever they need it we've never kicked Algerian out from our country or proceeded to start any conflict and i can't really say the same about the Algerian government (ofc we don't have a problem with the people it's just politics) we're always open for a peaceful conversation to solve our problems and we will always see them as our brothers

We are all human beings that seek comfort, prosperity and peace . All human beings seek the same . The majority of all people are good decent people . Less then 1% of humanity are inherently bad. Less then 1% .
The problem that we have is that we fear the unknown. We have developed a false sense of security in our media to give us factual information to rely on . Unfortunately, media outlets also have an agenda sponsored by individual governmental organizations that benefit from installing fear into its citizens. 900,000-1,000,000 Jews fled from Arab Countries into Israel and became refugees, their descendants make the majority of Israelis.
You don’t hear about the refugees who fled to Israel, Israel has absorbed those incoming refugees, while the Arab countries for the most part did not, they use them as a political tool (a common cause, a unifying topic, a diversion from poverty, poor health care, poor education and corrupt governments).
All refugees should get compensation, note however overwhelming majority of Jews were city dwellers, hence their lost property worth is much higher, in addition to them being higher in number, a reason for Arab regimes to object to reparations.
Over 100 million people were refugees on the 20th century, they all have moved on, except for those Arabs of Palestine/Israel, who are kept a refugee status by Arab countries, UNRWA and their own political leaders.
