The truth is that before the British and French colonialism in the Middle East, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine were called the Levant, but because of the Sykes and Picot Treaty, the Levant was divided into four countries, and then the Balfour Declaration that allowed the Jews to establish the state of Israel in Palestine.
As for the Druze religion, it appeared in Egypt during the Fatimid era, and it is a religion that deviated from Islam. However, the Druze migrated to the mountains of Syria, and most of the Druze had their true origins returning to Egypt.
Syria has many sects and religions, such as Christians and Jews - but they were displaced to palestine after the establishment of the State of Israel - and the Druze, Yazidis, Alawites and Muslims.
Sunni Muslims represent 75% of Syria.

these answers arent exceptions mind you, this is how every single druze person i met feels.

    love these people.

    • @AhmirNawaz
      @AhmirNawaz 2 года назад

      How can they feel stateless?
The first problem is that they don’t identify for the most part as Arabs when they clearly are all ethnically Arabs. Then they are Israeli by nationality. Either they are very select with their answers which causes them to stumble due to their ingrained ideas of secrecy which even them to lie even (called taqiya - all secretive groups are known to do this) or they feel they have political reasons to only stick to the mantra that they are Israeli which is also correct as they are all carrying Israeli nationality. But to call themselves Druze what does that even mean? As most of them admit hardly anyone except their secret leadership knows anything about the religion. It’s a belief in what exactly for them? A belief that doesn’t shape, govern their life at all can hardly be a way of life you are following them? It’s a name without meaning only. The only real impact of carrying this title is that it has slowly restricted the gene pool over a millennia. At least the Jewish Samaritans have a distinct theology. They too are having to marry non Samaritans now if they are to survive as a group.

ℹ️ As a Druze I explain why you hear different answers from every Druze!
Druze are Semite people that origin from the middle East with some saying that they have roots as Caucasian or Egyptian or northern Arabic... after living in this region for way more than a thousand year... we developed our own ethno-religious group... Now we are only Druze... but we are similar to all middle Easterners and Semitic people.
We don't know which language our ancestors used to speak before the Muslim conquests (most likely Semitic).. but we speak Arabic since then and since we live all in the middle east.. we also got simmalr culture and traditions.. tho still different.
Cuz of this long time speaking Arabic and surround with Arabs and possible Arab origins... some start to identify as Arab whereas some other just don't!
(today being Arab tends to mean you speak Arabic and not being ethnically Arab... as a Tunisian Berber might also say he/she is Arab )
Many Druze say we passed through a lot of religion and so for example we were Jews.. Christian... Muslims.. Shia.. and other philosophical ideologies until we figured out our own thing (a mixture of all.. cuz all religions lead to one thing theoretically)...
Islam being the last religion we left... some still like to identify as Muslims.. (tho we interpret the Quran very differently!... we do nothing like Muslims) and some like to do so to avoid hostile environment from other extremist Muslims! Most Druze when asked privately (no pressure or possible consequences) would say they are only Druze.. no Muslims
I myself feel comfortable entering a church a synagogue or a mosque (tho not my favourite cuz honestly some/many Muslims wouldn't be pleased to hear that I'm a Druze) ...
So I'm just a Druze who accepts all religions and read all books and try to learn and respect everybody although we have our own principals and so on...
DRUZE are great Nationalists and Patriots! so Syrian Druze would identify as such just like Lebanese, Jordanian, Israelis, Canadians, American, German and so on... they are so loyal that they would argue among each other just because of that.. (stupid right! lol ) for example a Syrian Druze would argue with an Israeli Druze about which country is better or right or wrong ...
so it only takes some time for a Druze to integrate within a country and start to identify as such... (similar to Jews in Europe in the past)...
hope this has explained why Druze answers can be so different
    love and peace

      that's a phrase that's easily misunderstood.
I think that he meant it in one of 2 ways:
      1. a "dry" technical way: I'm married, hence I "work" for my wife. cut and dry, no emotions attached, just an objective description of reality. in the same way that if you volunteer you can say that you "work with no pay".
      2. in Druze society, men and women are equal (not just legally, cut also in terms of societal norms).
for a Druze man it's considered a great honor to "work" for your wife, take care of her, make her happy, split the housework with her etc.
they absolutely do not believe that the wife should be beneath the husband in any way shape or form (and of course, vice versa).
I think that option 1 is more probable, but if it was option 2, then he basically meant the opposite of what it means in the west. the opposite of "the old ball and chain"

Israel is a Jewish Zionist country which was established by Jews who believe that they’re gods chosen people and this land was given to them by god, so how would they accept other people wether they are muslims, Christians or Druze to live with them? One state with no religion is the perfect solution just like what Palestine used to be.

    1) Druze are a Ethno-Religous group, so they are their own ethnic group and religion at the same time and they do not allow converts. So how they identify beyond Druze depends on many factors. 2) in Surveys in Israel of the non-post 67 Golan Druze they Identify as Israeli more than arab by over 90%, 97% of men serve in the IDF, and those pre-1967 druze fought for Israel in 1948 and have the famous "Pact of Blood" with Israel after its independence. With Jews, you can be born ethnically Jewish to Jewish parents, which allows to practice Jewish religion. Being a semi-open system, a non-ethnically Jewish person can practice Jewish religion, but that requires the person to denounce his birth culture and devote himself to Judaism both religiously and culturally, at this point, the person is accepted as ethnically converted Jew and the children of that person will be considered ethnically Jewish.

@Light Endorphin I haven't mentioned sunnis but salafism/wahabism is also mixed with sunni Hanbalism. And where ever sharia law is fully implemented all non Muslims become second class citizens or even worst. And you right salafis/wahabis also attack Hamas but Hamas is also radical to the core based on Muslimbrothers ideology. Panislamism, Hassan AL Banna, great mufti AL hussein, AL azhar university etc. They are part of the problems in the middle east.

Just a quick clarification: prior to 1948 there was a British mandate of Palestine. Not a nation state, but a client state under the control and authority of the UK. This is vastly different from the modern concept of "State of Palestine" which never existed prior to the PA.

they're not the same, but they do overlap. with the case of the jews for example: there's a strong overlap between ethnicity and religion.
and I disagree that they "should not be mixed up." if someone feels like his identity is fusion of 2 or more of the above, there's nothing wrong with that.

@@slkjvlkfsvnlsdfhgdght5447 I agree with you. On the point of mixed up, I rather referred to the fact that usually one is not a prerequisite for the other. By this I mean that we should not draw any conclusions about the other concepts and keep in mind that these things should be considered separately. When I belong to an ethnic group, I do not necessarily belong to a particular religion or nationality. The same applies to the other terms. There may be a correlation but it is not causality.
