28:24 - It's because Sir Gallant took a selfie before he stormed the Barbarian castle, obviously! But in all seriousness, a lot of portraits have been reused from Homm1 due to quick development cycle of Homm2. You can also see a lot of map assets - hills, tree groups/forests, resources on the map, points of interest in Homm 2 - were just copied or retouched from Homm1.
I like that a lot, I'm going with it 😉Yes! That's a great point and I love seeing the development points of interest still visible in the game and as the series grew :D One of my favorite funny things is how Yog was not present in 2 but reappeared in 3! I can only guess that he was someones favorite and they fought tooth and nail to get him back in the series :)
@@Phixfox I can imagine someone explaining to their boss exactly why Yog HAS to be in the game, while dancing around the fact that they just want him in the game for the simple sake of, well, "I just want him in the game, sir!"
I agree. With so little ore in our corner of the map, building up the Knight castle is futile, and trying to simply take a nearby unoccupied town, upgrade it, and then sally forth from there feels like it's going to take at least 2 months to get off the ground. I know the Barbs are to the South and the Warlocks to the East, I think that Barbs are the easier fight but won't scale well at all. Perhaps the biggest mistake I made in this scenario was using a magic user when I always should have gone with a might based hero. Lack of resources, early pressure, and everything is guarded and nothing is free means that we have very little margin for error. A fun puzzle!
@@knallauffall Y'know, I hadn't even considered trying to take their castle week 1 by landing on day 7 right outside of their castle, but that honestly sounds like the MOST effective (otherwise it looks like at least 1-2 weeks to get there by land and it's just too slow). Thanks for the insights! I enjoy playing these maps blind, and this one from the Knight position feels like you need plenty of strategy in order to effectively manage the early game (one single pile of ore nearby would actually mean a ton!)
I didn't love the end either! I think the biggest issue on this map is getting ore to get troops to then fight for a nearby foes castle, but the nearest from our position are Barbarians which don't translate well into the late game and the Warlocks who are very powerful once they get a few hydras. I have been mulling over what my strategy will look like for the next playthrough, and I will play it off stream so I can use 100% of my brain to outthink this problem :) Thanks for checking in Homer!! :D

@@Mclawliet1 Lore comes after someone really likes the portrait for a given hero 😂 The true way to build a game narrative!
As a knight you have to Focus to get the dragon castels to the north east as soon as possible to win
