Bit of a long reply in case I don't catch you until next year!
Rise to Ruin here confirming Pyramid, I think Chris or Vamy was there too. What a frustrating and incredibly fun map that was, so many restarts and strategy and hell even a bit of dumb luck got us through and we did it! (even if it took us the better part of 4 hours 😅). Sad that it's lost to the annals of history but I think it makes it even more special to have been a you-had-to-be-there event.
I've actually never played this map but knowing what I know now, mad respect for starting with the knight faction! Possibly the poorest decision one could make going in blind and you definitely gave the AI a run for its money. I admire the way you and the HoMM2 community create seemingly impossible challenges and handicaps but somehow overcome and emerge victorious. My challenge might be one you reccomended, Heroes date night with the girlfriend!
I don't know if you intended for it to happen but taking the Warlock castles and allowing the Wizards to decimate the other factions was a great strategy! I'll be adding that to my repertoire for future maps. ;)
As always, hope you and Phixfam are well and happy. Good to hear you took the time to get centered again broski. Bringing health, hope, and happiness to others is something you do incredibly well, almost intuitively, but keeping some for yourself is imperitave! Best wishes for PhixJr#2, may he be a proper pain in your butt and fill your life with cherished memories my friend.
    👊🦊

I sincerely appreciate all of your continued kindness. And I LOVE that Heroes date night is a thing! :D Thank you for backing me up on Pyramid (it seems like a dream at this point haha) and I hope that I never fail to record again! I am rushing out the door as we speak or else I would reply much much much longer, but thank you friend and I will see you around in this year or the next :) Best of the seasons greetings, and a Merry Christmas! :D

Thank you! And thank you for your insights from the previous comment section! Although I did not decide to try and assault the Warlocks by the sea as you suggested, that conversation was the catalyst in getting me un-stuck in my strategy. I appreciate your kindness and thanks to you in Germany!! :D

41:00 I made a big comparison some weeks ago, to see what faction would prevail in a vs. Match after 4 weeks / 4 months of build up.
And I was so astounded… to find that Kinght actually won against almost all competition :O (I’ll summarise is again).
    1. I made a laboratory test map.
    2. From start, Each faction had one of all mine.
    3. i gave each faction 4 weeks / then 4 months to build as much creature dwellings as possible
    4. Then the faction gets to buy out as many troops they can.
    5. And then pitted the factions one on one in a vs. Match, by the sum of all the troops the faction could buy out for the gold they have left.
Result: Knights won most vs. Fights when 4 weeks, and also 4 months, worth of troops are pitted against each other.
    2nd place comes warlocks.
    3rd place Barbarians.
    Why?
. Mainly two reasons. Knights are cheap for the labour (Cost Efficient in HP and damage). I could buy out all knight troops, but Some of the factions had creatures left to buy, but no money to do so.
. And that no magic was involved.

Then, when magic Was involved, warlock took 1st place and barbarians 2nd, knights 3rd.

Very very interesting! And with only the bottlenecks of wood and ore and in a vacuum where there are no resources the Knights SHOULD be quality terrors in the early game and scale into the late game. I think in this scenario we saw what happens when bottle necks happen, and last scenario was what happens when others get into Dragons way too early for us to handle! Can I just say that I LOVE that you did the research on this? :D

Well yes! Inspiring play as always keeping at it and not loosing heart, the map got beaten at a mere cost of time and persistence, GG!
I’m happy to hear that you to indulge in technical data ^_^ the more you know right.
Even so, as you say, the test was a bit bereft of real play factors and should bot be taken for truth. But still there is knowledgable to learn.
I guess if there is wider concept of what, most often, makes for a “good” starting faction, i’d say it is the Barbadians.
      1. Fast first unit. Shooing second unit. Fierce third all to be gotten on day one.
      2. The dwelling mostly cost only ore and wood (no precious recourses save crystal). Easy to build in a impossible difficulty.
      3. Pathfinding heroes ready to explore long ways.
      4. A hardy bunch focused on Attack, which has a real impact on the real damage in H2.
Barbarians makes great for taking on another faction early.
Maybe let a warlock or wizard build their town up for you. Ripe for the taking ;)

Then again. TheRealPhixfox lets the dies choose the destiny, and prevail whatever the wager. Hurra! ⭐️

@@AvatarHeroo Perfect analysis, and I hope that others see this and consider where this can be applied in their games! I am truly here for the fun and adventure, but eventually I have to admit that the nitty-gritty details do intrigue me as well ;) Good ideas on quantifying the value of a faction and their units, I am still compiling data for it!

    Beautiful play here ❤ so nice to just have a sitdown with a sandwich 🥪 with Dijon mustard + 🍳 + 🥬 + 🧅 + 🫒 and a glass of 🥛+🍫. Bliss!
    🙏 Thanks!
Now one thing (a tip) :)
At the end of a scenario. When you got the game in the bag so to say. If you want amp the difficulty you could set up challenges/ nerfs (like: I cant use my main hero and his/her troops. or no magic. Or no 6 tier creatures. And so on.)
Of course you are entitled to your win :) and own it! But jus IF you somewhen feel “hum this was too easy” (phixfox general feeling 😂). Again this is not a request really, but more a tip.
Cause we love to see you play and to get more “content” out of a map might be fun ^_^
Of course! You should roll with it and win asap aswell. 3:30:20 is a long play (and you have other priorities now).
    I’m gonna stop talking.
    Thanks

It was absolutely necessary to come back to after the way the first round ended! This is a FUN scenario and I think each race plays it differently in the best way possible :)

@@Phixfox A little tip, at 1:45:15, before fighting Agar...try to use the position of your enemies to your advantage - champions could get to centaurs for the first strike right from the start (2 hex creature x 2 hex creature)...sometimes this can really turn the loss into the victory (positions in enemy army from left to right - up, then down). But as always! What a great video! And I am ready for another! :D Homm2 or Homm4, the 2 best in the series. :)

And well, in this case they had minotaurs for 2nd hit, so it wouldnt bring much use, but maybe in other battles it could come in handy. :)

@@aldarius23 Great tip! I always lament missed opportunities to make a fight go even better with the information we have before going into a fight! And I am excited for the next as well :) I plan on streaming tomorrow, and I will hopefully post the video from it that same day! A weekend of Heroes sounds like a nice time to me :)
