    Even at full price £300 this one still an incredible guitar.
    In the video, I've made some comparisons to other smaller brands, where the competition is strong.
    However, spec-wise, you'd expect to pay £600 - £1k easy, for something like this from the Big Brands.

    It's still very incredible for the price. Other competitor that i could think for the same price is maybe Bacchus or Corona strat style guitar. But i can't really pick the best out of those 3. Corona has probably some of the best pickup sound for the price, bacchus has coil split on the bridge which would come in handy for some people, and this jet guitar just looks cool and locking tuners. Though i've never played jet since i can't find it in local stores, but man i'm super interested on that guitar now haha!

    Getting back into guitar after forever and chose a JS400. I am blown away by the quality of the thing. Flawless neck, body, and overall build quality. All I've done is put on a decent set of strings and blocked the trem (no use for it at this stage).
    Sounds great, nails all the strat sounds except of course the bridge, which I really wanted for Rock/Metal

      It's a fantastic guitar mate - well worth the money. I ended up selling mine in January. I so badly wanted to keep it, (loved it) but it was just too heavy for gigging (which was it's main purpose for me).
      I can't remember if I mentioned in this video, but Jet don't even mention on thier spec sheets, it's an actual proper flame maple top - not a veneer! 🤯
      But that's why a lot of the 450's come in on the heavy side 👍

      @@stevecassidyguitar Hey Steve, we spoke briefly on RUclips in regards to jets yesterday. I was hoping to get your opinion, I hope you don’t mind me messaging you on here I’m looking at getting JS 400 on your recommendation and was winding what the main difference between the matte black version and the standard is? Any help would be greatly appreciated I love a rosewood fretboard and not too keen on maple I know you are the opposite and the only rosewood they do on standard is in pink and I’m not a fan anyway thanks in advance I hope you can shed some light on this for me

    • @stevecassidyguitar
      @stevecassidyguitar  3 месяца назад +1

      @@dannysoul1396 Hey mate! No worries, I wasn't familiar with the Matte black Just checked it out.
      The main differences are - it's HH, so it's not gonna sound very "stratty" which may or may not matter to you. The other difference is it's a fixed top loader bridge - so - no trem. The similarities are; it's the same neck profile 👌 and still has the sculpted neck heel carve. 👌
      If you want it all - HSS layout with a trem and rosewood board but not pink... You might not like my suggestion... 🙈
      What I would probably do, is get a JS 400 HSS in the colour of your choice (but not the matte black one coz - now trem etc) and use the body, AND get a JS400 in either pink or matte black, and use the neck. Switch the necks on the 2 guitars and sell the other one you don't want.
      This is totally the kind of stupid thing I would do! 😂🙈
      It's not the most cost effective way to do it- but you'd get everything you want, that isn't available as a production model. Essentially your own "custom shop" Jet 😜
      If you do think about going this route then a wee caution - Don't get a JS300 or any of the JT (Tele) models for the neck - they wont fit. I learned this the hard way first hand 🙈
      Best of luck to ya mate 😀👍

    • @stevecassidyguitar
      @stevecassidyguitar  6 месяцев назад

      Unfortunatley not mate - Dimensions are slightly different and screw holes don't line up. I have a mate who recently told me he had his tech fit a 3rd party pickguard to his Jet, had to re-drill hols etc but got it to fit.
      If you want a perfect fit you can send the original guard away to get traced and cut you a new one - there's a guy on ebay (Glasgow) I think his shop name is Earl Pilanz? He has listings under "harley Benton pickguards" you'll find him. Costs around £40 tho 😬
      Pickguards from Jet Js400, 450 Fazley Phynica FSST720 & 820's are all HSS interchangeable - that's how I've been doing it - But I've got problems 😂

Well, guitars in this price range tend to be more inconsistent but man, that’s a lot :D Now out of curiosity I’ll measure this one and let you know if you’re interested. Another thing: A few of the fret ends were just hanging in the air on mine like jazz hands, as soon as I hit them with the copper hammer, other ones also “broke loose”. The curse of quick-dried wood I guess. But I had the same thing with a 800€ pro series jackson eith roasted maple neck&fretboard, too. So in light of that, it’s forgivable for a cheap guitar I guess., also fixable with some superglue. Yours had maple fretboard and that has some finish on it, it keep stuff from moving, maybe.
