Prefer the Jet headstock. The Fazely looks a bit like a Suhr headstock which I don't like. The "white" looks like Fender Olympic white which is an off white.

I bought a Fazley Tele on Amazon for I think 69€. Being new to Tele string set up I sucked at this 2 strings on a sattle s*%# and went to a guitar shop. They fixed this for me and did some great fret work and now this is my go to guitar. It plays wonderfully. I love it. Put some money in a new pick guard (pearl) and a beautiful strap … great fun for few bucks.
The pick ups might have to be changed - I can’t play too loud so I can’t tell but for playing on headphones etc it is great sound.

There are only a handful of factories in Asia that make budget guitars in volume (that's how you get them so cheap). So it makes total sense that both would be made in the same factory. Basically like Gibson and Epiphone back in the Kalamazoo days, so identical parts at that
I too prefer the Jet headstock over the Fazley. Really these would be ideal to buy used as to not take the full retail price on them. So a 60£ Fazley used would be fine to accept a less see desirable design.

Got 3 fazleys - a budget tele (TL) , a sunburst sunset hss and a sunburst tempest p90 - they're fantastic for the money - ridiculously cheap with great necks (finish, fret work etc.) on both the sunset and tempest. Finish wasn't perfect on either guitar but these were minor flaws that were found under close inspection. Tuning was great - stayed in tune well with the tusq nut - would imagine a good set of locking tuners would make them even better. Pickups wise the HSS is ok but the tempest bridge pickup isnt great. The tempest neck P90 however is brilliant and a keeper. These guitars are definitely brilliant modding platforms. The budget tele is ok for £50 but tuning stability isnt great tbh - at some point ill replace the plastic nut and see how that improves it. Still nice to play and once again a decent modding platform. Only ever picked up a Jet to hold but the neck felt exactly the same as the Fazley HSS. Heard that Fazley LP's are not that great apart from the Juniors but if you are a Fender fan Fazley definitely give you bang for buck.

Love my JS400. Interesting to see that some higher quality Fazeleys are exaclty the same, I bought one of the cheapest Fazeleys (surf green single bucker fixed bridge strat) and it's OK for £70 but not massively well made. Of course if you can get an equivalent of a JS400 for only 20 quid more then that's a much better deal! So important to know which models are good though. I see there's now 'Sunset series' Fazeley strats that might replace the PHynicas; Jet/fender shaped headstock, front jack sockets (my preference), roasted necks.

I recently bought Fazley FST118, Fazley Starters Plus ST118 and Jet JS-300. The Fazley FST118 is the bottom of the pole (below €100) and it's immediately clear when you hold it in hand. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone except if you need it as a prop. The quality of finish was shoddy, it went out of tune every 5 minutes, the neck felt unplayable.
The Fazley Starters Plus ST118 was way better in every respect. Wilkinson snares, Wilkinson 2 point tremolo and generally the finish was way better that the cheaper Fazley. Unfortunately the Starters Plus was a B-stock item and had malfunctioning jack socket, pickup switch and the pots where not mounted properly. But you know a B-stock item so take it for what it is.
Now the Jet JS-300 arrived and only by the packaging I could see way more attention to detail. The strings where wrapped in paper so they didn't touch the neck during transport. Finish on the guitar was excellent! The neck feels amazing in comparison to both the Fazleys. It's super smooth and feels very playable. For me no contest - the Jet is just superior in every respect as an instrument (I'm talking mainly bout the wooden parts).
I'm a total beginner. On the Fazleys it was difficult for me to change chords. In comparison the Jet almost feels like playing with cheat codes on. It looks beautiful too (I have the blue one with roasted maple neck). I would say the quality of the Jet is even better than the Ibanez Gio series that cost more than €240 (have checked them out at a local store).
It seems to me that the cheaper Fazleys now maybe aren't as good as before cause the "Jet team" isn't making them anymore.
Anyways some uniformed opinions from a noob (those guitars are for noobs after all)

Hey Mate! Thank you for sharing your comparison! I've had my hands on one of my students Fazley Startists (Candy apple red) I remember the set up being not great and it was quite heavy for a strat. Later found out they have solid ash bodies! That's a real premium feature imo 🤯 But fit and finish wasn't ideal.
The Jets and Phynicas are (were) cream of the budget crop (imo).
I have no problem saying they smoke Squier and Ibanez - easy.
When it comes to the neck and body alone (not hardware or electronics) It's closer to Fender Player quality. Sometimes the fretwork is better on the Jets/Phynicas too!
My main Gigging Guitars these days are a Modded Jet JS400 and a modded Phynica 720.

I have a Jet JS 400( Sea Foam Green),which I love, and a Jet JT300 (Sunburst) which is also a great guitar. Although I've paid considerably more for the Jets than a Fazley I am not too worrried as they are both superb value and even though that headstock shape means literally nothing financially or sound wise it is aesthetically more pleasing than the Fazley. PS I also think the Jet catalogue colours are very different to their actual colours but in a more positive way,in my humble opinion.

Nice one mate - yeah I prefer the Jet Headstock shape too. It looks like the new Fazley models are going with a more similar shape now. 👍
Re - the colours, that's fair enough (different strokes for different folks) but it looks like either way, we agree they're not accurate 😁

    • @slatanek
      @slatanek Год назад

As I have a degree in photography I feel obliged to chime in about the colors.
I have the blue JS300 and to me it looks the same shade as in their pics. The neck is a bit brighter on mine but it's wood so it'll never be the same.
The thing with color accuracy in pics is it all hinges on the light temperature. If your light doesn't match theirs they will look different. I'm assuming their pics are made with photo lighting which would have a temp around 6500K which is pretty cold. No one would use a 6500K lamps in their home. Additionally if you have fluorescent lights than the hue of all colors will be skewed towards green. Now your eye will accommodate to compensate for the green hue, but as the light bounces of colored objects their hue will be affected.
Just a few cents since as I stated mine seems just the same hue of blue as in the pics.

Cause I am in this matter my self I got a Fazley and a J&D. Made in China, Indonesia or where ever in Asia it has become more and more common that they use the same patterns as it is legal (for them) and generic hardware where the biggest difference lays in the quality of the making. My J&D Goldtop and the Fazley Midas FLP318GT Gold Top they are very much the same.

I'd heard this about the J&D's too - good to know - thanks for sharing 👍
The Fazley Phynica's and Jets were/are made in a factory in China I believe. So your Midas and J&D are the same - but... Are they any good? How do you like them? 😃

@@stevecassidyguitar Well I do not have the Midas I simply judge by the pictures that they use the same pattern but that will not tell it all. Well I love my Fazley Hot Rod.
For the moment I got a couple of Squires a Jacksson V and a Ibanez Floyd Rose Dimarzio Superstrat, when it comes to build quality the Fazley is way better made. J&D beats them all, China has been boosting about J&D, a new factory better quality and it seems to bee true but agin the hardware is of the same cheap generic stuff as on the rest, crap.
A easy fix as the guitar is well made without any faults what so ever.

    Hi, Steve.
I recently got hold of a newer Fazley Sunset Series Dawn HSS, it had the smallest tremolo block I've seen, the 2 single coils measured 4.8k each and the middle one wasn't reversed polarity resulting in no hum cancelling in positions 2 and 4 . Mismatched plastic colours, just no! Just sayin..........

Nah, got some Yoran Sun Vintage 65 pickups from China and a new 2 point trem from Northwest Guitars. Gonna use Alpha or CTS pots with no load tones and 2X 0.22uF polypropylene axial metal film caps. I got it to mod and tinker with. Maybe some Guyker locking tuners down the line, I recommended these tuners.

Ive got a Jet JS400 and a Fazley Tele with a P90 in the neck, both are giggable, see videos on my channel of proof, the Jet imho is better made, the neck is superior, the Tele has a few fret imperfections, but cost beer money, so not too bothered, the JS400 neck is as good as Fenders Ive owned, but tbh both are superb value for money, both stay in tune and intonation is fine, for reference I also have some expensive guitars, the P90 on the Fazley is superb, swapped the single coils on the Jet, if either guitar was not doing the job, I'd ditch them.

Maybe the Jets have better tuners , i 've seen some reviews , especially one with a real tremolo abuse , the guitar stayed in tune , and i read that the people , including you , change their tuners very often , if not all the time ....
They aren't the same , visually , maybe it's the only difference between them then ...

    • @stevecassidyguitar
      @stevecassidyguitar  Год назад

I've seen the same review - I think that was Elmo's review (very good 👍).
I've noticed with both the Jets and Fazley's, that the nuts are cut very well. I think this has more to do with tuning stability after trem use, than the tuners.
For me - it's been the feel of the operation of the tuners (they grind a bit) and I've had 2 break now (1 Jet,1 Fazley) just the wee plastic washers.
You don't have to change them. But I certainly would. 🤓👍

@@stevecassidyguitar Indeed , Elmo and a couple of other guys , oh ok Fazley and Jet have the same delicate tuners then , the external shape is different but inside hhhm hhhm ...!

....You are very welcome and thanks , i didn't know about the several scottish accents ....
So i was saying that i don't know how they discoverded that : the actual american accent is the british one , the ancient one , and the actual british accent has evolved differently : go figure how they can get to that conclusion after several centuries ....
The scottish accent has maybe kept its roots ( if they don't smoke too much weed , those language specialists) , a mexican would learn the language easier in your region , the " r " roll the same , anyway the aristocratic Cambridge accent is far from that : a thief or an agressive guy would still look polite , even if he punches you lol , i like all the different english accents but the scottish one and the irish one yet a liittle bit less strong , have a real diffferent color , i would find logical if the Aussies would speak like that , it's a warm accent under a not too warm weather ,and with plenty of variations ...!

And thank you , in a video you respond to my question , if Fazley and Jet tuners are exactly the same ....
I can't tell you if the PUs on the Outlaw sheriff plus are Wilkisons , i only can say that they are not the same as those in the Vintage series V6 : low output , sound extremely fenderish , vintage you know ....
The PUs in the Outlaw are high output , the neck is exactly the same as the one you have had troubles with its trussroad , the frets needed to be polished a little , i did it with the strings .....
I have to compare it with the Phynica and my Vintage , anyway it stays in tune , floating tremolo , despite the screw scruwed askew , and i could feel it is real Ash with the screwdriver , hard wood , but my guitar is light ....
I haven't touched it since a few days , but after i've put some 10/52s on it with a luthier's knot , i tuned it one time : in Eb , it stays in tune for days ....
I will tell you soon ,as a comparison between it and the Phynica and the Vintage V6 is necessary , the Phynica really amazed me : the Vintage V6 is like a good old Strat , i have a little buzz on the little E string , but this " Outlaw " is giggable .....
