Man, I can't Thank you enough, I've been down for a week now trying the cut paper towel trick and soaking it for hours, and I wasn't getting a single drop of ink! I tried printing 8 full sheets of solid black and not a single drop. I only had to soak my head for 2 hours, pumped the 50/50 mix through at the end of both hours. I almost cried after I put it back together and the first rectangle was solid black and dripping off the film. Over time, I had to Raise my droplet weight to 15 in AccuRIP to get a solid print. I had to dial it back down to an 8! Thank you so much. This thing had me stressing for a long time, had me feeling defeated, but I won today! 🏆
Just a true "Shout Out" to you Mikey. This video saved my Epson 1430 printer. I have absolutely NO knowledge about what you just did in this video. But I followed your concise directions. Lo and behold, I completed each step from disassembly to re-assembly and everything worked perfectly. I purchase this printer off Ebay and was a bit worried about its condition. The description said, "Very Good Condition". Nevertheless, I was still concerned. The printer had cartridges in place that had been there for several years. Everything is working and I owe it to your great video. As a result you have a new subscriber. Thank you and Thank the Lord for giving me His patience. I have the same CISS and will be purchasing the waste tank as well.
My printer had a weird problem where every other print would be liney every single time, you could count on it being liney. I had to keep a scrap film and print 1" rectangles in between every real print until the film was full. Then start a new one.I thought something was wrong with a chip or the counter or something, but this video absolutely cured the problem, so if anyone else has this problem, take the head out and clean it! I can finally print back to back again! It's been like this for about 2 freaking years! I can't believe it! So what I am guessing is going on, is half of my ink colors were clogged, and the printer alternates ink cartridges so that that you can go longer without a refill. That is just my guess, but holy crap, thank you again!
Thank u for this video. I’m dealing with lines on my films. I tried this cleaning method a long time ago n it worked but ur video reminded me of a couple more things to the make print good. I appreciate u 🤩🤩
This worked! Mine has been clogged for over a year. I soaked the head in an off brand window cleaner, dipping it in and out several times while also changing the window cleaner once it got too dirty. After 15 minutes I flushed each color with a syringe until I could see the window cleaner going all the way through for each nozzle without any ink. I dried it under a fan for about 10 minutes and put everything back together with fresh cartridges. I only broke a couple of plastic pieces in the process but they didn't seem that important, and it will be easier to clean in the future.
That's awesome! Yeah, it's pretty trick getting the plastic parts out without snapping then, but as you said, those parts really are that important. Glad it worked for you.
I've gone through all the methods without removing the heads without success so I'll be following your instructions as I bought a CISS for it just before it clogged ARRRGGG. Considered buying a new one only to discover Epson has discontinued it so I looked online for anyone still having new ones in stock or even a good condition used only to discover people are now asking TWICE the price I paid for my original one new .... goddamn profiteers. Your video shows it's pretty straightforward so I've got nothing to lose!
Hopefully it does the trick, because you're right! They double if not tripled. The 1430 is pretty easy to repair if you have a little patience and handy skills. Let me know how it goes!
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 well the print-head had been soaking for about 12 hrs now and when I tried to send cleaning solution through the individual color nozzles with syringe and none of the solution made it through! just bled around the edge of the rubber hose at the tip of the syringe 😕, so I flipped the print-head over for the nozzles to sit in the solution bath for a while. A couple hours later I was able to get one color nozzle to run through like in your video .... well it's a start! After that I gave all the nozzles a shot with the syringe and placed the head back in the bath head down to let it soak some more. I've seen on a few other sites talk of using an ultrasonic cleaner to clean extremely stubborn heads and have found I can get a small well rated one big enough to fit the print-head for about $50 CAD. Considering the prices pirates are asking even for spare part 1430s I'm thinking it's worth a shot, I can always use the thing for other stuff. I'm guessing my print-head is in the 'really stubborn' category because I'm moved last summer just after it started giving me these issues and unfortunately didn't have a chance to unpack it again until now. What do you think? Even the cleaner descriptions mention using it for cleaning inkjet print-heads so I don't think it can break it.
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 finally received my ultrasonic cleaner today, left the 1430 head in it for 15 minutes and while I found very little ink discoloration of the cleaning solution when I try and run solution through the nozzles/head with a syringe all six nozzles now flow freely as in your video. Word to the wise though, the cleaner is EXTREMELY loud! (probably because I ended up buying a somewhat bigger one since I have other things to clean) Hopefully once I get the print-head reinstalled my Artisan is back to normal.
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 as far as I can tell it's unclogged ........ but now the bugger doesn't want to recognize my cartridges (3rd party) that it did before, nor will it recognize my CISS system cartridges ....
I had an extremely old and extremely bad clog on my black nozzle . i followed the video and it came out great! but it took 2 days!!!! every few hours i'd go press through a syringe, more cleaner through the black nozzle. now it prints great! i notice alot of people complaining that their printer no longer functions after doing this. did you get the chip/board wet? i noticed that if i put the print head in a pan of solution of the wrong depth. i got my board wet!!!! so what did i do? i reduced the solution level. and i waited another 2 days after cleaning, to put the print head back into operation, giving the board ample time to dry out. its summer here so 2 days was enough. cold or humid environments might want to let board dry longer if you get it wet.
Thank you, worked great. Most of the nozzles were clear except the black. I left it soaking in the solution for about four hours. After that, it cleared no problem.
I had no idea this video would do so well. Just be aware you're doing this at your own risk. I've done this to a couple printers with no issues. I'm not a tech, but enjoy DIY fixes that save me money vs tossing out the printer.
I thought I was screwed when I could not get a good print. Of course, right when I need to use it, nothing. I tried another method with no luck. Tried yours and while it wasn't issue free, I am now printing nice, black stencils! 4 out of the 6 were totally clogged and needed the push to free them. Thanks so much!!!!
Hey Mikey thank you for making this video! There are a lot of videos on this printer, but none that actually really help screen printers! You saved me some money. You might as well be GEICO! Thanks again!
To easily remove the CSIS board 2:41 you bend up a special tool from a document clip in a fashion so there is a PIN that can go through a hole in the BACK of the housing to release the CSIS board clip. Using this tool it it easy peasy lemon squeezy to release the CSIS board. Look for a Epson service manual online like I did and there are clear directions in how to make the tool and this is done - instead of hacking away with a screwdriver.
I know you left this comment a year ago, but I cannot find any such assist with this matter and am ready to SCREAM trying to take the housing apart. I get one side out, and it pops back in when I move to the other side. Wondering if this will be worth it...
Hello and good day. I have a question! I did exactly what you said to do and it WORKED! But there is one nozzle that just won't unclog. Do you have a recommendation? Thank you especially for your help.
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 How do you replace the head? I searched before asking you and I couldn't find anything on how. I appreciate you answering and getting back to me
Mikey! Just got this printer but I can’t seem to get it aligned. It will not do vertical lines at all, is it an issue with the belt? Can this be fixed?
Thank you! Try hitting the reset button, or pulling the cartridges and reinstalling. Were you using genuine Epson inks before? Something I should have mentioned in this video is, if your printer has the most up to date firmware, Epson basically made it impossible to work with other there printers. However, you can pull the chip off of the genuine cartridge and the CISS kit, and replace them with the epson chips. Just glue it on. You'll need an Epson chip resetter for when the printer thinks the cartridge is out of ink. Inexpensive and just an extra step, but will work. We've done this with our Epson 4800 and works great.
Hey Mikey thanks for the video? Would u recommend this process to remove regular ink and add sublimation ink? I bought the siss system to refill with sublimation. Just trying to figure out best way of purging out all the regular ink. The printer I gave was converted to print all black. What do u suggest? Thanks!
It's worked quite well for others. Just make sure you get an ink system that'll play well with the machine. If you get a CISS kit, it wont take long, maybe a couple cleanings to get the ink you need in use.
Great video Mikey. I screwed up and didn't put the printer head ribbons back in order and after I powered up the printer after like 10 seconds of it initializing it shut down and won't power back up. Curious if I either fried the power supply, main circuit board or the actual printer head?
I havent used my printer in a while. ive followed your instructions which are great but am concerned my inks are a bit thick as they are old. can i add a bit of water so they flow better? maybe alcohol? any suggestions ? I will be buying fresh ink for my ciss but would be a shame to throw out all that ink
I try printing but it isn't really printing. Maybe I might need to replace with a different printer head. Any recommendation of where to get a new printer head? I'll keep trying to get it to print
I used your procedure to clean my ink head and it worked great. I could see the solution flowing through all of the nozzles. The problem I am having now is that the ink seems to be not flowing from the cartridges and onto paper. Any suggestions?
I have the 1400 but it is exactly the same with the 1430. Had been looking for this video for a little while. Thank you for sharing, Mikey! Good stuff.
1:18 I can see you trying to get the right side clip of the top cover out, but then at 1:22 there is an edit point and then you have somehow gotten it out... anyway, as careful as I tried to be that pin broke off. At 1:25 you have the retaining clip removed, but how did you do that? The pin on the right side is really long- it actually goes all the way "through" but trying to press it from the right side didn't really seem to help.
One of the screws from printhead fell inside- can’t see it. most likely somewhere on the right side &/or down past the waste pad area. Any ideas of best way how to retrieve. the side panel is off. i did tilt it to the right but still dont see it. Will I have to take printer apart or should i keep trying to tilt it out? thanks to mikey or anyone with good solution.
I want to also give out a hint that is keeping mine alive right now, if you have a broken pump/cap/wiper assembly problem that is causing the print head to LOCK in place and make an awful gear grinding noise. If you take the back cover off (there is a waste ink install tutorial that shows you how to take this off) if you look in the printer head side from the back, there is a White Lever connected to a gear box. You can push that white lever down at just the right time and the printer will finish cleaning. You can almost feel the gears slipping inside where it trys to go down but doesn't quite make it all the way down, so I just keep my finger rested on it, when I feel it going down and jerking, I push and hold it down, it's like an assist, sometimes I only have to assist it 1 time during the process, sometimes it two times, and sometimes it still gets confused and the lights come on, but just re start the printer and try again. I decided to try this after I was left with no other options and it worked, I also had to take the rubber wiper out because it was hitting the head with every pass. With that said, I need a new pump cap assembly, but I can not find a single tutorial on how to install it, so I'm just going to have to figure it out myself. I found a tear down video online that gave me some confidence. But it doesn't look as easy as this tutorial was.
How long did you wait to reinstall the printer head? Because it seems that some alcool is left and needs to evaporate, I reinstalled mine 3 times, check for the cable and it is still showing "no ink or incompatible cartridges'". Yes the plastic is really cheap, be careful when using a screwdriver. Otherwise the instructions are well made. Thanks for that video.
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 Don't what the problem is, but because there at least on cartridge on low, it won't let me do a clean cycle. Tried 5 times to check the ribbon cable and it is fine, very weird. Thanks for quick reply, greatly appreciated.
I've done everything in the video, then reassembled everything and fired the printer up. It initializes, but then thinks there are no ink cartridges installed! Is that just not getting the ribbon cables seated right, or is there something else I should check? I've tried three times now and it's getting frustrating!
I did everything like in this video but when I put everything back now I have 6 ink lights when 6 cartridges are inserted, when I remove one cartridge then I get only 1 light ON, basically when all 6 cartridges in I get 6 lights ON. What could be wrong? Thanks
Is it just not recognizing the cartridges? Try pulling them all out, putting them in. Make sure they click. Hit the ink button. That should clear it up.
Hello Mikey how are you? Question is I have done everything in your great video. Printer worked fine but the wasted ink is not going through the tube onto to the waste tank, causing the ink light to stay on and printer is not working. I blown in and out the tube and still nothing is happening. Would you be doing a class on why the tube is not collecting the ink waste? Thank you
Followed your instructions - put the head back and printer works except I still am not getting any black ink. Comes out maroon red instead of black. Any ideas?
Hello, I am trying very hard to remove the retaining clip for the ribbon cover. Mine seems to be pinned, in front of the loop for the cartridge cover. Any ideas? Thanks
Don't spend tons of money on the latest greatest printer. Epson 1430s are workhorses, can be bought used for cheap, and repaired easily. Most print jobs are no larger that an Epson 1430s largest print size of 12.5 x 18.5...
Mikey Designs & Silk Screen do you ever have the issue with the printer not reading the ink cartridges after taking them out and doing a head cleaning? I’ve tried numerous things such as resetting the printer and even putting the original ink cart back in the printer but it’s still showing 4 out of the 6 as being empty. I am at my wits end. 🤦🏼♂️
@@corymlindsey you may have an issue with the chip on the cartridge. You should never touch them but have you tried cleaning them off or trying a different one?
@@90snative66 yup. Tried cleaning chips using 90% alcohol and also tried different cartridges. Had a good friend who works on computers check it and it was dead unless I wanted to drop a bunch of money in it. Ended up getting an Epson P400

I accidentally pulled out the 4th ribbon that you didn't touch here, the one that goes into a little slot to the right of where the printer head goes in. I can't seem to get it back in now. Am I totally screwed?
I did this and it started to run for a bit but then after right before I was going to nozzle check it powered off and now it won't turn on and is making a quiet beeping noise near where the power cord comes out. Any tips?
Thanks for posting this. I went through the steps with a few issues, all mine, broke a couple clasps. Everything seems to be cleared out but my magenta is still not printing. Full cartridge. Any recommendations?
That's great to hear! Might need to let it soak longer. Or just replace the head with a new unit all together. Guess it depends on how much work you want to put into it.
I did this and now 1430s power light is off, and the paper/cancel and ink lights are flashing fast which is meant to mean the print head is obstructed by jammed paper or another foreign object and cannot return to the home position. But I cant figure out why this might be...
Is there a replacement for this printer? I tried the Epson expression 15000 and it wouldn’t do borderless 12x12 plus it seemed so cheaply made compared to the 1430… not to mention ink refilling issues.
My epson 1430 printhead gets locked up to the far right and the ink light and the one just to the left of it flash at the same time. I can get it unstuck but it goes back. Any ideas?
Hello Mikey , how are you? My question is about Epson photo 1400. I am trying to print a dog tag, in print (scale to fit are, I am trying to unlink scales, height and width but I can’t so can you tell me how to unlink this section. Thank you
I removed the chip board and disconnected the first cable. Then I removed the 3 screws and the print head. I removed the 2 cables that were connected to the head. There was a 4th cable connected behind the cartridge carrier. I accidentally pulled it loose. That's where my problem is. Is it possible for me to remove the cartridge carrier without stripping apart the whole printer?
I'm bidding on one now. The description says everything works except two of the print heads. Since there's only one print head think it's just two nozzles that dried out?
you are doing a great work but may be you could help me with my teal color problem on my 1430 epson, I did every thing you show on this video and also on another with "resetkey". I use this printer for sublimation, was working good but since 3 days I tried about everything. I enter code 57,167,87 and come out light teal. It's all the time not enough green. the colour I'm looking for its rgb: 8, 158, 171. for a face masks for MC and they want their logo on it and that is the background I need. do you think you have a solution for me, thank you for your time, and continue the good work.
I tried this tutorial last week. cleaned the head real good, great advise. Unfortunately when plugging it all together and running the power up the printer had total electronic break down and is unusable. no power and constant low beep from the back . i killed it some how.
Thanks for the detailed video. Unfortunately I must have tripped or gunked up some sensor. After reinstalling the print head and powering on I get the startup cycle ending with the power light off an the ink and paper lights flashing together. Any suggestions?
@@cunnoni didn't work. Every time a complete set of carts was installed it would not recognize them. Repeat: do not attempt this service. You can almost always flush the print head without removing it.
Ok, yes it worked as instructed except for one major problem; I unwittingly installed the cards back in with some liquid left in the pin terminals. The printer started up and ran for a short while and then died. I imagine it was a short of some sort. Make sure everything is completely dry before installing the parts back in!
@Brooksvw100 This literally just happened to me as well. I now have a low beeping noise form the back. After some research it looks like the transistors can be replaced on the main board (or a min board is needed) and hopefully bring it back to life. But also a new printhead will be needed. @@coolrunninja Fortunately for me I had a back-up 1430 - also clogger I have taken out the head and cleaned it again and this time will make sure that it is super dry before continuing. I hope Mikey see this and adds a caution advice to this great tutorial. A great B/W printer. I will make sure that it does not glog again, although cleaning it this second time around was a breeze!
Thanks for reaching out! I'm by no means a tech, but could see how that would be possible. Just sharing what I've learned and has worked for me. Take caution when working on electronic components. I'm sure there's other aspects that need to be looked after, like making sure you're grounded. There's static electricity gloves or things along those lines for doing circuit work, but again, I'm not pro at this. Just sharing what's worked to keep mine alive.
I know with AccRIP you can set it to accept a roll and just make the paper size custom if you wanted to go larger than 19" long and you could get a roll stand.
Mikey Designs & Silk Screen I saw someone say once that the paper feeding mechanism in the 1430 isn’t strong enough to consistently pull the weight of the roll and it will burn out.
@@Tim.McElheny That's a good point. However I've seen people turn an Epson 1430 into a DTG which moves a platen. I'm not much of a fan of rolls for a printer that can't cut the film or paper.
I tried to do the exact same process that was show in this video but when I put it back together and plugged in my machine and turned it on. It won’t turn on at all now. I’m not sure what to do at this point. I hear a low pitch noise coming from the printer but nothing turns on. Any suggestions?
This worked and was pretty easy to get the head out and back in after tho i made the mistake of pressing the ink change button to move the head out of the parked position instead of just powering on and then unplugging the power cord. which will not brick the printer like the ink change button can if its ever powered back on without the original OEM carts in place.
Your Doberman is cute.....great video, can't you clean it without taking the head out though?...A lot of mechanically inept folk are going to dig themselves a hole trying this method...
Thank you! You can. Just hit the ink button, unplug it. Use a folded paper towel with some windex, place it on the track, and slide the head over it. Do that as many times as it takes. You can let the head sit over that paper towel overnight to see if that helps. This video is more for if you've tried every method and the only option is to take it to a repair shop, to help save you some money.

@@WorkNation Exact thing happened to me. Did this step by step, powered up to lights blinking. About five minutes later it just powered down and won't power back on. Just dead. Should have probably put a disclaimer on the video that it could potentially nuke your printer.
My grandson and I just did this yesterday...and yep, got the same results...powered up, ran for about 30 seconds, and then the power light went out and nothing I do gets it to come back on. Somewhere, this person should have made it plain that it could fry your printer. I love my 1430 and the only one you can buy as of 01/18/2021 costs 1600.00. And, because of COVID, you can not by the upgrade to this machine from Epson or anyone. I would have been better off to spend the $250 and buy a new printhead and just installed that. I am sick and now without my printer.
It worked for me chewing up and breaking a bit of the plastic in the process but does not affect the printing. I used alcohol and windex for the soak and 99% rubbing alcohol for flushing the heads. Its not perfectly unclogged but might give it another go once things slow down here more at work.
I love(d) my 1430 until I apparently made the mistake of "updating" the firmware ... so EPSON could hold me at RANSOM if I don't buy their super inflated MILLION DOLLAR INK. Got any ideas how I can downgrade firmware?
Ouch. Yeah, Epsons firmware update will lock out any aftermarket support from non Epson vendors. That firmware update was to block what support is out there for using aftermarket inks so they can line their pockets by making you buy only their inks.
@Mikey Designs & Silk Screen I did break one of the small plastic retainers on top for the clip, don't think it'll matter. The catch for the clip is underneath and, far as I can tell, inaccessible so as you demonstrate one pries and hopes. -- I've now reinstalled everything (and print went from unreadable to sharp & clear 👍🏻) and see there are some openings above where the right side door clip catch attaches - perhaps a stiff wire or some such could be used to dislodge on disassembly by pushing down. Also, used a squeeze bottle to push rubbing alcohol through the nozzles & while I couldn't get it to sorta squirt through like you did, mine was more a slow drip, it ran clear it was clean - I'd wondered about that.
Was everything working okay before, aside from it being clogged? I would check the connections. Maybe give it another shot at taking it apart and putting it back together.
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473The machine was working perfectly just needed nozzle cleaning. We tried to duplicate with a second machine and same issue occurred. Its very puzzling.

I went to my printer settings and tried cleaning it from there and that worked. Next time I will hire a pro to clean my machine lol.
Ok...Tried this and sure enough bricked the machine like many others. Should have been more carful and cognizant of what introducing any solution to a circuit will do if not DRYED COMPLETELY before introducing current. The soaking of the print head should only be done at a depth not to make it to the circuit board and dry it out completely before reinstalling the cables and powering on. SERIOUSLY UPDATE THE PROCEDURE TO INCLUED THIS POINT. I'm sure this is what makes it such a hit or miss proposition. If I would have only been ALERTED and not have been in a hurry. DUH!

Be careful forcing fluid through the syringe, you can blow the printhead nozzle out and destroy it. I had to replace my printhead after squeezing fluid through it too hard.
Definitely don't force it. If it's not going through, then pull the head, let it soak, and then try again. You should easily be able to squeeze it through with some resistance.

@@georgeorwell5842 Thanks for the update. Did you get it upclogged?
Awesome!
Awesome!!! I'm glad it helped.
Hey Mikey thank you for making this video! There are a lot of videos on this printer, but none that actually really help screen printers! You saved me some money. You might as well be GEICO! Thanks again!
LOL! Thanks! Glad it was helpful.
Might just have to let it soak longer or replace the head altogether.
Thank you! Great video. Now my printer will not recognize the cartridges !!! Any suggestion how to fix?
This video saves me a ton of cash.....by the way what kind of Ink you use for sublimation?
Hey Mikey thanks for the video? Would u recommend this process to remove regular ink and add sublimation ink? I bought the siss system to refill with sublimation. Just trying to figure out best way of purging out all the regular ink. The printer I gave was converted to print all black. What do u suggest? Thanks!
It's worked quite well for others. Just make sure you get an ink system that'll play well with the machine. If you get a CISS kit, it wont take long, maybe a couple cleanings to get the ink you need in use.
After performing this method my converted DTF printer is printing blank pages now.
Great video Mikey. I screwed up and didn't put the printer head ribbons back in order and after I powered up the printer after like 10 seconds of it initializing it shut down and won't power back up. Curious if I either fried the power supply, main circuit board or the actual printer head?
Did you reconnect everything? Might be okay. I'm not a tech, but know how to swap parts out.
You may have to run it through a couple cleaning cycles to get the ink flowing through again.
I have the 1400 but it is exactly the same with the 1430. Had been looking for this video for a little while. Thank you for sharing, Mikey! Good stuff.
Glad I could help!
I haven't had issues with gears slipping, so can't really give any advice, but thanks for sharing.
Almost immediately. Just run it through a couple clean cycles to help flush it. Don't let it evaporate. Keep it wet.
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 Don't what the problem is, but because there at least on cartridge on low, it won't let me do a clean cycle. Tried 5 times to check the ribbon cable and it is fine, very weird. Thanks for quick reply, greatly appreciated.
This video saved me from having to replace my epson 1400. Thanks Matt!!!!
Awesome!
For those who have not done this... you have to run a printer head cleaning procedure many times until you get a clean print.
Thank you for this tidbit 👌🏾
Hey I’m experiencing the same issue, have you had any success resolving it?
Thank you so much for this, got TWO 1430s for free because of clogs. Hoping this takes care of it for me.
You're welcome. Should be able to get both up, if not one of them.

My epson 1430 keeps leaving spots and blotches on films. Does this take care of that also?
It will. Chances are there is dust on the print head that's keeping it from making a clean droplet on the film.

The 1430 is the last of it's kind, IMO. The rest are built so Epson has more control over consumables.
Thanks for the tutorial, it really saved me in a pinch. Cheers! 🍻

Did you try pulling the head and letting it soak for 24 hrs?
I removed the chip board and disconnected the first cable. Then I removed the 3 screws and the print head. I removed the 2 cables that were connected to the head. Do you think there is a way to mod the 1430's to accept rolls of film? Or would that be too tough?
I know with AccRIP you can set it to accept a roll and just make the paper size custom if you wanted to go larger than 19" long and you could get a roll stand.
Mikey Designs & Silk Screen I saw someone say once that the paper feeding mechanism in the 1430 isn’t strong enough to consistently pull the weight of the roll and it will burn out.
@@Tim.McElheny That's a good point. However I've seen people turn an Epson 1430 into a DTG which moves a platen. I'm not much of a fan of rolls for a printer that can't cut the film or paper.

Hi, how long did you soak the head?
Long enough to clear it. For tough clogs, soak for at least 24 hours.
It worked for me chewing up and breaking a bit of the plastic in the process but does not affect the printing. I used alcohol and windex for the soak and 99% rubbing alcohol for flushing the heads. Its not perfectly unclogged but might give it another go once things slow down here more at work.
You can let the syringe sit on top of the clogged color for 24 hours to see if that'll help unclog it. Would love to hear a report back.
That firmware update was to block what support is out there for using aftermarket inks so they can line their pockets by making you buy only their inks.
i change print head now all ink lights are on what to
This looks very similar to the 1400 Epson. I'm tempted to try it.
They are. They even use the same parts. I think the 1430 just has more ink cartridges.
It is very useful.

Glad it was helpful!
@Mikey Designs & Silk Screen I did break one of the small plastic retainers on top for the clip, don't think it'll matter. The catch for the clip is underneath and, far as I can tell, inaccessible so as you demonstrate one pries and hopes.
--
I've now reinstalled everything (and print went from unreadable to sharp & clear 👍🏻) and see there are some openings above where the right side door clip catch attaches - perhaps a stiff wire or some such could be used to dislodge on disassembly by pushing down. Also, used a squeeze bottle to push rubbing alcohol through the nozzles & while I couldn't get it to sorta squirt through like you did, mine was more a slow drip, it ran clear it was clean - I'd wondered about that.
Is this the same for the 1400?

Definitely don't force it. If it's not going through, then pull the head, let it soak, and then try again. You should easily be able to squeeze it through with some resistance.
