THANK YOU! There is a 6 minute video explaining what you did in less than a minute. Right to the point - genius
You're welcome!
I'm in Texas and been without ice for the past 8 months. We've had consecutive days with triple digits. It's been a HOT summer. I've delayed on calling our fridge guy because I assumed it would cost me $300 to fix (the same thing happened with our old Samsung fridge, due to a faulty line). I stumble upon this video and BOOM, problem solved. I have ice again!!! Thank you for posting this!!
You got mail. I meant ice :). I'm glad you checked out the video and did it yourself. It can cost a lot to have a repair person come to your place depends on where you live.
Went through 20 videos on how to fix the ice maker. Thanks for making a video that actually shows where the reset is 👍
Thank you.
YES. THANKS FOR SHOWING US WHERE IT IS.
@@ellenclifton4505 You're welcome.
Quick and to the point, I wish everyone’s videos were like this….LOVE IT!
Thank you for your clear instructions. My refrigerator was not making ice and having loud knocking noises. Your instruction was to locate the ice maker reset button and hold 10 seconds. It worked. Other videos said to press on the reset button but did not say for how long. Thank you and appreciate:)
THANK YOU for showing us what Samsung did not, WHERE the button actually is!
You're welcome, Sharon. i''m glad it was helpful.
What a simple fix! I’ve talked to Samsung 2x and this is the first time I’ve been told to do this. Samsung isn’t completely versed on their products I now know.
I'm glad it helped
Thanks for posting this video. People like you make a big difference in a small way.
Thank you very much. Happy Holidays ~~~
Thank you for this. It is my first fridge with an ice maker and I am now addicted to ice. I have faith you have saved me, even though I’ve only just now applied your wisdom. Now to wait for auditory confirmation that lovely ice is in my near future.
Thank you. I hope you will hear that sound as well.
Awesome! Works now. I can take back all of the bad things that I said to my frig earlier. You Rock Man....
LOL. and you're not alone. :) Thank you.
libfab1 - did it take 24 hours to have ice again?
Thanks 🙏🏾 man you saved me a service fee for nothing! Thanks for posting...
No worries. I'm glad to help out whenever I could.
Very helpful indeed! We’re just renting short term and I couldn’t figure out how to even open the freezer! With your instructions I pulled the door out and the ice was all frozen together. I’ll reset per your instructions, save some of the ice and start making new ice. Thanks!
you're welcome. Cheers~
Thanks for video😀 Our ice maker stopped working also, followed your advice and it's working great
Thank you RCP. I'm glad it helped.
Thank you! Finally found a video that knows what they’re talking about.
you're welcome. glad it helped
good video. Direct and to the point. Thanks
Your short uTube video gave me the answer I needed to get the ice maker working again. It is very simple to follow and the RESET operation is very well & clearly shown in to video clip. I can't thank you enough for this information. I can hear the ice maker working now. :)
By the way my fridge is Samsung Model RF28HDEDBSR/AA (54) - Feb-2019 model.
Thank you for sharing. I'm glad it worked out for you. Cheers~
Thanks for the video. I have the same unit. New ice maker and fan motors. Samsung installed Monday. No ice. I pushed the reset button as you showed but it will only dump one tray of ice. A test load only.
Worked like a champ saved me some money. I heard ice dropping like an hour later
Awesome. Glad you got ICE. Whoaaa! it sounds so "politically" in correct now 😁
OMG, thank you! I just sold this and the guy is telling me it's not working. This could be an easy fix.
Your awesome! Great information. Helped me fixed my issue
Thank you so much this fixed my ice make, no cost.
Glad it helped!
Worked perfectly. I also noticed ice build up around the inside of the ice tray box, removed all of that too. Back to normal at zero cost.
Awesome!. I'm gad it worked and save you some cash. Thanks for sharing
This is an oldie but a goodie video! Our ice maker just had no ice in it and we could not figure out what was wrong, only 6 month old unit. Voila, pressed the reset and in three hours heard the ice falling again! Thank you for this video.
Thank you. I'm glad you got ICE ! :)
Got this from a friend 7 days ago and no ice so far and the fan is already knocking on the ice behind panel in the refrigerator. 🤦🏻♂️
@@MrDg2400 unplug and defrost for 36 hours. Then plug back up. Don't forget to do as this video shows.
Big thanks.., been driving me mad today not being able to get it working.
You're very welcome. You got ice?
Thank you so much!!!
This was so helpful straight to the point!!
thank you
You made the same mistake that I did, bought a Samsung refrigerator. I've had nothing but problems with mine. Service center has been out twice now. They have replaced everything but the refrigerator. Dont buy a Samsung fridge!
steve stanton oh my gosh amen brother what a piece of junk everything that can go wrong has gone wrong and they’ve replaced it so now everything works perfectly over the months of having guys out over and over and over they paid for it but what a piece of junk and now for some reason the icemaker just shuts off and you have to reset it like that several times until it takes
Oh and let’s not forget it indiscriminately shoots out ice cubes for you to break your neck on in the middle of the night if you got the munchies🤣🤣🤣
Not a fan of Samsung appliances lesson learned, never again. Let’s see if the reset works on mine, less than a year old.
Same. We enjoy the french door design and spacious compartments, but the ice maker is a deal breaker. This thing doesn't work. Repairman "fixed" it a couple of years ago, and it worked great for several months. But it eventually went back to Frozenville, and now I have to keep breaking the ice with my crow bar and thawing it out with a blow dryer about once a week. I'm so frustrated with this thing that we're considering plopping down another grand and some change for a new one!
And no, I'm not so much as sniffing in the direction of a Samsung, either.
😱🤦♂️ I am so f***
You actually got someone to come out? I can’t get anyone to answer the friggin’ phone.
THIS works! Very simple
Thank you!
Thanks buddy it worked on mine!!!
Nice video!!
you're welcome and thank you.
Good job! Thanks We’ve had nothing, but problems with this ice maker.
Us as well. This refrigerator came with the purchase of the house and nothing but problems.
After my Ice Maker froze up and wasn't making ice, I was beginning to worry. But this worked like a champ!
I'm glad it helped. It saved me a few hundreds bucks if I didn't know better to reset it first.
Very helpful! Thank you!
Thank you.
It worked like a charm. Thank you.
Glad it helped
Good simple fix. There is another way by using the front display panel. It works with the ice maker in the OFF position. With some units (like mine), pressing holding your fingers on the words "Freezer" and "Lighting" simultaneously for up to 15 seconds will result in a beep and all the lights on the display turning off. When this happens, remove both fingers and just tap the word "Lighting" again and you will see a "FF". Then just keep tapping until "Fd" is displayed. It will then start Forced defrost for 20 min and beep the whole time, so best leave the house if you don't want that annoying beep to cause you to murder someone, or worse.
Thanks for sharing. Cheers~
Testing this now 👍🏻
Thanks for the great video! I appreciate it so much. I usually get my ice from the big tray underneath so I don't use the door ice dispenser so ice had built up inside and "dried" out. It was a big clump and couldn't dispense. I had a heck of a time getting the icemaker out of the fridge but now its cleaned out and reset. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing, Gerri. I'm glad you found it helpful. Cheers~
That worked for me. Thank you for showing us what to do.
You're welcome and I'm glad it helped.
Old video but still good information. Thanks!
Thank you
Fixed my problem! Thanks!
That's great!.
Thank you, I could not find how to reset icemaker anywhere on these flexdoor models. Posting this is much appreciated. Mine made a ping as soon as I pushed this button. Waiting now for ice...
Did you get ice? It should not take longer than 24 hours. Press and hold for about 3+ seconds. If you do it again you may or may not hear any sound because it was reset the first time.
@@SnapFix I will try it again, I had turned the icemaker off for now and was fixing to call Samsung, refrigerator is only 5 months old. Thx
@@dsiddhu68 A lot of us are in the same boat for buying Samsung fridge. My ice maker started to act up when it was about 7-8 months old too.
SnapFix i will call samsung tomorrow. No ice yet...

Great.
This is a great short term fix that works! Thank you. Unfortunately only 2 days later had the ice jammed up again. What a crappy design!!
I'm hoping this fridge will last as long as my GE one
Thank you. New subscriber.
Thank you
Thanks man! I was about to buy a new refrigerator.
You're welcome.
Thank you for the video! You’re right, the passage for the air to blow through was completely blocked up with a frozen ice block. The question is, is why is that happening to so many people. Either way I’ll report back to see how it holds up now. I only had the fridge 9 months when this started. Thanks again
My freezer started to act up after a couple of power outages. I think it may have triggered the switch to turn it off completely to prevent overflow.
moist air is infiltrating the edge of the ice maker that contacts the left wall. Use a waterproof silicon caulk to fill in the gap. Some suggest sealing from the inside but i found it easier to caulk the outside.
great help! Thank you!
you're welcome
Thanks mate just fixed mine!
Nice. I'm glad it worked for you.
Thanks Mine just stopped working . I pressed the reset button ,and It started working !!! Thanks !!
You're welcome.
Thank you so much for posting this. I have had to defrost my ice maker multiple times over the past 2 years and it always started making ice again on its own. This time I was convinced I would have to have it repaired, but all it needed was a reset and it started making ice in a couple hours. Horrible design, wish I had known before I bought the fridge! Thanks again!
You're welcome Denise.
Totally agree! Horrible design and Samsung refrigerators will not be getting any recommendations from us. Did not know about this reset button. Fingers crossed it starts making ice again. Have thawed it out many times with a hair dryer and it always starts again but not this round. This thing sucks!
Thank you, I will try!

Thanks for saving me a service call.

@@brendahritz5725 it takes a few hours though. Please check the water line to see if anything that hindering the flow
Went through almost every single one of the RUclips videos on the subject... And lo and behold, unplugged for a couple of hours (nothing lost in fridge, put freezer stuff in garage chest freezer) and viola... Ice...
You got ice! LOL most if not all are like a computer now. They need to be rebooted periodically to work as they are intended.
This was really helpful! Thanks! When I (finally) opened mine, there was some ice build up under the unit where you press the button as well as on the back right side. Is that normal? Is it possible there's something leaking, and that's why my ice machine wouldn't work?
No it's not but it may not be a leak either. This is happened when ice tray is not completely empty and water auto refilled it for the next batch. You can check to see if all ice cubes in the tray are emptied out before it refill with water.
Thank you God is so good he showed me your page thank you so much
You are so welcome. I hope you got some ICE
My 2014 fridge has had the ice maker replaced twice - in 2017 and in 2020. After 2020 it worked fine until April 2024. No ice! Noticed the air flow vent plastic was hanging down on the left side - removed and found ice build up in it under the rubber mat. Don't understand that since I did the FD by holding down the two buttons on the front and it did a 40 minute defrost of the freezer and supposedly the ice maker. Tried the reset button twice now in 2 days - no ice. It was time to change the filter - did that - no ice. Can't really tell what I'm looking at in the back of the ice maker - but don't see any water, ice or obstruction. No longer under warranty. Any suggestions? Do you think unplugging might help?
Thanks for the video. Mine stopped working today...on a hot day in June. I didn't hear a "chime" (in fairness, my son is watching tv fairly loud). Wish me luck!
If you pressed it and unknowingly let go, you may not hear the chyme if press it a second time. But it should be fined. Good luck.

Did you get ice?
Just purchased a Samsung RF18HFENBSK Refrigerator Unit from Lowes. Got a Good Price. Has a beebee size mark on front which is acceptable for our use. As with many Samsung Refrigerators Ice maker is not working. There is a test button on the front underside of the ice unit when you open the Freezer door and reach about the center of the ice maker and push small button and hold for about 10 sec's. You should hear the water come on and go into the ice maker tray.. Waiting for a few hours to see if this now begins to make ice normally. just hoping that I don't have to get Samsung Service involved or take the unit back to Lowes for a different model. Got 10 years from my other model (Hotpoint, same as GE) , but had to change the defrost coil and the compressor fan during that time.
Thanks for the tip. Your time is greatly appreciated!
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Thanks!
Thank you
Thanks for the video. Didn't hear any chime when I pressed and held the reset button. Thoughts?
You're welcome, Kristin. Chime is very faint. You may have missed it but it's there. Please keep in mind it only sounds once. It won't chime again if you press it a second time. Did you get ice?
Yeah did you get any ice after?
Thanks for letting me know that after you press RESET, you need to wait 24 hrs. The manual didn't indicate that. Also the manual mentioned 2 chimes and I only heard one chime. I will see if ice comes back tomorrow.
You're welcome and please let us know.
@@SnapFix Ice didn't come back. It was frozen over previously. Have to call Samsung service. Hope they can fix it. My fridge is only 7-8 months old...
I think this issue definitely worth a recall status by Samsung. What do you guys think?
2014 Samsung fridge - nothing but problems - mostly noise and the fridge part heating up to 65 deg once a month. Then issues with ice maker. Replaced under warranty/extended service contract in 2017 because of the freezing up issue. Then that started again in 2020. That time they replaced a lot of circuitry in back of the fridge and the ice maker. That seemed to solve problems - until April 2024 - one day no ice. Not frozen up on outside. But the airflow vent - removed and found ice under the rubber mat - after running the defrost cycle by holding down the 2 buttons. The holding down of the reset button - immediately hear a chime - not 3 or 10 seconds. And like the book says should be a second chime - but that does not happen. But still no ice.
Thank you.....
you're welcome.
just tried this....hope it works!
Thank you Lorrie. Let's us know
@@SnapFix so far....looks like it has made a couple of cycles of ice! Hope it did the trick!! Thanks!

I need to do this. I changed the filter, but we are hooked up to an under the sink reverse osmosis. I can only get 1 quart of water every 40 minutes. When I talked to samsung they said to drain 1 to 2 gallons. sheesh! I'm going to try this. I hope it works, I need ice down here in Texas
Samsung is the best fridge we have ever had, always hit and miss on appliances, our ice maker did stop working, but the re set button solved the trick

Thanks so much for the tip. Just took ours apart and frozen solid. Defrosted and reset, hopefully I won't need repair bill.
Thank you. I hope it helps.
How did you defrost it?
@@mrsminnie820 I used a hair dryer and it took less than 10 mins.
What causes it to even deactivate in the first place?
Do you have any videos on resetting the bottom ice maker (freezer unit) on RF323TEDBSR?
hi. I don't but I believe it's the same location as mine. It's right on the bottom toward the front of the ice maker.
1rst time i seen that minuscule reset button, chimed at 5 seconds Tommorow I'll know thanks?!
did it work?
Do you really have to wait 24 hours??? In the past when I had to use the hair dryer to defrost the heavy ice build up - It would take about 4 hours after I was done and I would hear the ice drop. So does it really take 24 hours???
I did reset the ice maker twice like 10 min apart, do you think it will cause the problem? I heard the chime sound the first time, but I thought I was doing something wrong so I read the description and did it again and heard the second time too. So, and then I read to do it only once e wry 24 hours.
I talked to one of the service guys with a local repair company and he was nice enough to answer it. He said not to worry.
This makes no sense...
thank you big help definitely trying this right now

SnapFix it didn’t work my fridge is trash 😭
@@katvega7444 Sorry to hear that. Electrical issue is hard to resolve sometimes with the new fridge.

Any luck? I’m about 9 hours behind you in the process.
@@dotupside No luck, just got water. I have a new filter coming tomorrow. Will let you know..
please make sure you have nothing blocking the ice tray from dumping ice. also, you will have to thaw it if it is frozen shut.
@@SnapFix Thanks, I'll make sure it's clear and thawed. Hopefully, that does it. The strange thing is the bottom ice maker is working fine. Don't they use the same water line?

I wish there was an audible or visual cue that the reset has been done other than just waiting for 24 hours...
I know. Right. If you get a rumbling sound of ice dumping then you're set :)
according to Samsung there should be a chime, if not unplug the refrigerator....(Press and hold the test button until you hear a chime (which may take up to 10 seconds). If there is no chime, power off the fridge by turning off the circuit breaker or unplugging the fridge for 2 minutes, and then try again.) www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01001012/#ice-maker-is-not-making-any-ice
My fridge did chime when I held the button down just a few seconds
For some reason I cannot remove that box. I’ve jiggled every which way but it won’t come out. Your video makes it look easy - one hand! What’s the trick?
I think your tray got some water overflow and ice got frozen over. Please give it a little wiggle and shakes. It should come loose. If not you may have to thaw it out a bit before removing it.
@@SnapFix Thank you for this video, but to thaw it out, mine won't come out, do i need to empty the freezer and turn the fridge off?
@@cfuller466 You can try and wiggle it first. It may be a little hard but it should come loose. If that is not working then you can try another method using a hair dryer (I have yet to try this method but I got message from folks said it does work). The last one, you will have to empty the freezer and let it thaw out. Thank you
SnapFix I actually did use a hairdryer. I got it out and then had to use it to melt a huge block of ice that was blocking the mechanism. So far, things are working. Thank you very much for your help.
@@cfuller466 Wonderful. I'm glad you got it working and thank you for sharing.
My in-laws are having this problem and I'm trying to fix it. It seems pressing the test button doesn't work in this case. They have a lot of ice buildup in the top of the ice maker, under the part that has the blue label on it (as seen at 00:00:20). Now it hasn't been 24h yet, but I don't see any defrosting at all 8 hours in. What could be the next step? Preferably we'd like to not turn of the whole fridge, but open to that too, of course.
I hope you didn't have to resort to that but sometime you do have to forced defrost everything
Does the drawer need to come all the way out to reset? My fridge is against a wall and that door will not open all the way.
How did he take the ice master thing off? I’ve been trying too and it looks like he did it with ease.
It should fairly easy to remove it. Yours may be stuck with frozen ice so just give another try. Shake it side to side a little to loosen it. Hope that helps.
Mine was also stuck. Just pushed it up a tad, and then pulled out with ease.
Mine wont come off at all. It will break first. Literally almost pulled the refrigerator over trying
@@jaystreet402 It seems that your ice maker is frozen over. I'd recommend that you let it thaw first by unplug it if wiggling to loosen it didn't work.
What about if the model you have also has an ice maker in the freezer (two ice makers). My bottom one isn't making ice...
There is a reset button for the bottom one as well. Unfortunately, it is difficult to take a picture and upload it here. You can actually feel it. It's similar to the one on top.
I just had my ice maker and mother board replaced by samsung yesterday. It will only drop ice if you hit the reset button or if you take the ice tray out after the ice has had a chance to freeze. Seems to me that maybe the laser sensor is somehow not working. I can't figure out how to determine if that is the problem.
It sounds like a likely issue. I just asked a friend of mine who is a repair guy. He suggested that you may want to check that too.
I hope this help me because I can't afford a repair man
Should you shut the icemaker off, before you pull the bucket and reset?
I did and heard no chime.
you don't have to shutoff the ice maker. The chime is quite low so it may have sounded already
Unfortunately this doesn't help if your ice tray is frozen enough it won't come out. I thought there was an exterior way to force a defrost of the icemaker. But if I could get it out, I'm sure this would be really helpful.
please don't force it. You may have to let it thaw it a bit for trying to remove it.
Go to your panel on front and go to force defrost for the icemaker only. Do this til you can get the ice pan off. Then use a blow dryer to make sure it's completely unthawed. Then dry out the water in bin and put bin back in and push the button on the side as shown in this video.
When I hold the button down for 10 secs or more I dont hear any sound that would tell me that the ice maker has been reset. Should the icemaker make a sound when it resets?
You should hear a chyme when you press the reset button but only one time. You might not hear it again if you press it again. Have you gotten some ice?
Thanks man I know there is an issue with the ice maker .. we had a tech put silicon on our ice maker cause it was freezing up all inside
Thank you. hope you've gotten some ice :)
@@SnapFix Working like a charm now, Fyi for anyone else the one tech we had mentioned every couple of weeks to empty the ice tray as there is a design flaw with the ice maker in these fridges

Oh, Samsung RS25J50 doesn't have a reset button (0:31).
Frozen ice may have blocked the pathway.
We have a samsung model #
RH29H9000SR and the ice maker is not working. We tried finding the reset button. Finally found it I think held it down for several seconds did nothing. Please help.
you should hear a chyme. It's not that loud so may have missed it. Also, please check to see if you have ice have frozen over inside. You need to thaw it. If everything is clear, then it should be making ice again after a few hours.
Does it suppose to make any sound when you press the button?
yes. You suppose to hear chyme. But it will do it once only. If you press reset a second time, you may not hear it.
Should you shut icemaker off first. I did. Removed the bucket. Pressed the button. No chime.
Should I have left the icemaker on.
No ice buildup on mine. Bone dry. What difference would a filter make? The ice water comes out fine.
Please help I can't seem to remove my Samsung's left side inner door shelves

The instruction manual clearly shows how to do this, but alas, people don't know how to read or save the manual.
What! OMG. You still read the manual? Just kidding. We should, myself included, but most of us don't read it.
