Internal ND systems (especially full frame open gate) take up far more room in a camera body than folks tend to imagine. You must have enough vertical or horizontal space to slide the ND out of the way when not in use. But in general I think Panasonic will have its hands full developing a camera which competes well with the mirrorless competitors to come.
I dont know J.... I've owned the A1, FX3, R5C, and most recently the Z9. Spec wars have to translate in use. The S5II is much more straight to the goods when used. The others come with a heavy price tag when they give you something. If we get what it should come with for the time, plus internal nd its game over.
I don’t think so, Sony and Canon have been protecting their Cinema camera lines, and they will continue to do so, and they have so many mirrorless camera bodies they have to protect those. LUMIX just doesn’t care about that, or atoras that much.
Sony never leapfrogs Lumix they only offer more frame rates which is only popular because of the big RUclipsrs who get free sony cameras but they never use but they advertise it. But Lumix gives users real cinema features without putting cinema badges on the camera.
@@CabralCreates yep. even something as simple as shutter angle. look how much of a big deal RUclipsrs are making it out to be when it should've been in the FX3/FX30 day 1 since they're part of their "cinema" line.
You must know that Netflix certification only matters to people who are hired by Netflix to shoot a Netflix production. Owning a "Netflix certified" camera doesn't mean your movie will get shown on Netflix.
Id be surprised if they get internal NDs in there. That's a huge sensor to cover with a mechanical mechanism to fit in an internal ND in such a small body. Also L-mount is just sharing lens mount tech... not sensor tech or recording technology, just because BM are now making cameras using L-Mount that doesn't mean they are working hand in hand with Panasonic, it's not the L^2 partnership between Lumix and Leica. Would love to see BRAW come to Lumix internally but definitely wouldn't expect it. Would love to see a lumix camera with Internal NDs but i dont think that can work in the current S1H style body
On CineD interview as I remember, they said ARRI Log C will be exclusive on GH7. Internal ND's on Mirrorless body, I think that'll take time. But L Mount alliance can produce a Canon like adapter with ND with a mch feature. 'Optical Low Pass Filter' is a must on those lines.
Since there are several S1, S5 and a S9, the higher number signalize lower tier. This looks like S2H will not work and they have to use S1H-II. I expect the body will be a bit smaller, get a very fast sensor and Arri log might be possible because the S1H-II will still be the smaller addition to the real Arri. The question about dual native ISO or DR-Boost seems to be the same as the question if they get a modern Sony-sensor or build their own together with the partner that also made the 25MP MFT sensors. They have a patent for ND-Filters that rotate out of the way. This would make the body just a bit larger. Big question is also if they go up with the resolution or stay around the 24MP. May be the S1R-II get 8k30p just to have this check mark but for the real film work, fast 6k and 4k is much more important. I also think that 4k based on over-sampled 6k is better than the 4k with one by one pixel readout.
I just hope they avoid the current trend of ultra-high resolution with a plasticky/digital look and triple-base ISO. Here’s my wishlist: - 6K resolution (more than enough; honestly, even a solid 4.6K would suffice). - Rolling shutter under 10ms. - OLPF - Internal BRAW. - 4K at 120fps and 6K at 60fps with no crop. - Internal 32-bit float audio. - Dual CFexpress Type B slots. - Same or better dynamic range. - An organic image with plenty of detail (no excessive internal noise reduction or artificial sharpness). - Autofocus as good as or better than the S5IIX. - Stabilization on par with or better than the S5IIX. - Internal ND filters (a dream feature, though probably unrealistic for this form factor).
To be honest 8K @60p today is what’s expected for flagships. Look at Nikon and in particular canon and their R5C that has been around 3 plus years and is 8K 60 P. You don’t have to shoot 8K. Shoot your preferred 6K at 30 or whatever. But if you’re doing action or a stage show. Is nice to be able to zoom in and get a closer grab or frame correction. In very low light I have shot in higher ISO setting on the highest 6K. When I downsize or down sample to 4K. It looks so much cleaner. I did that for 1080 days for customers from 4K capture.
Yea, I'm thinking that if Panasonic tries to put in internal ND's the camera would look more like the Canon C70. Which you would have to be okay with if internal ND's are important to you.
friend, tell me, you mentioned that it’s so cool that m4|3 can shoot open gates 5.8k what’s wrong with that? Nikon Z8 can do 8K? Well, to be honest, the GH7 is a failure. G9II battery life is up to an hour longer and easier! I think Gh7 could only be carried out by nd filters, but I think this will happen in about 3 years at the earliest. They were just patented for SH2, they will first appear in them and then in 4/3

:) i am not buying new cameras for a while, i hope when the time comes the s2h is in a good price. For now my s5 is just fine. I need a zoom lens, maybe a 24-105 that dont brake the bank.
Sony has good PDAF on FX39 en FX3. The FX3 is king of low light and dynamic range. Problem with Panasonic is their FF sensors are sourced from Sony, so both Nikon and Sony does. So, as all others manufacturer, they have a crop at 60p., but also have dual ISo functionality. The Dynamic Boost uses dual gain functionality which is different as dual native iso. De question is to whom is the S1H mark 2 is marketed and which are their competitors?

Maybe for video. Panasonic just doesn't have the market penetration and mind share to seriously compete with Sony and Canon on the photography front. Even if it is a superior camera. I'm rooting for them, but don't have high hopes.
Not for the S1Hii. The current models using the IMX410 are maxing out its abilities. Even if the upgrades in the S1Hii are modest, it would need a new sensor.
At first I couldn't believe it. Then someone showed me on the internet. Panasonic believes the gh series is thier flagship cameras. That means panasonic thinks micro is better than full frame. It makes us look like amerature.
People already invested a lot in Sony gear, I'm not sure it will kill anything...I'm not a Sony fanboy at all (honestly I prefer the image from Panasonic), but Sony has a better cameras line up (fx3-fx6-fx9-burano-venice 1&2) and better lenses...I love Panasonic, but as a filmmaker who wants to evolve, choosing Sony is a much better investment. And when the FX3 mk II or FX6/FX9 mk II will come out, RUclipsrs will say the same as you "the new S2H killer...blablaba"
You talk about killing Sony and Canon, and yet outfocus keeps jumping like crazy. Until Lumix gets autofocus as good as Canon Sony, they wont kill anyone

I only need 6k60p no crop, 4k120 no crop and internal braw, low pass filter, the perfect camera
4K 120 no crop open gate
and faster rolling shutter!
6K60p/4K120p non crop.

You're right but to be honest then sony and Canon will come out with a better camera and leapfrog the S1H ii. It's a never ending cycle.

There can't be any compromises. No cropping at any framerates. I think they have to focus a lot on color science.
I'm expecting everything the GH7 plus more dynamic range and internal ND filters and Netflix cert. Hopefully they give it BRAW internal as well.
Yes that could be cool as well, as I’ve understood it it needs specific hardware to do braw but I’m guessing it could be done

Nikon’s going to go crazy after their Red acquisition.
Honestly, the C400 looks like a very good value. I don't think Panasonic is really even going for the same user base.
For me the C400 doesn t have character on the file. It's digital and less cinematic, for the rest is perfect

Yeah, you'd need a whole lot of headroom to allow an ND filter that could cover a full frame sensor that also has ibis ( see the size of the burano)
As a long suffering Lumix Stan, my hype for the GH7 was not for the GH7 but what i would mean for the S1H mk2..
