I have often thought of this actress, (Lauren Bacall) seen her in films, but never getting her name or knowing anything about her. But there has always been something about her that makes her very attractive and not just her stunning looks.
My favorite movie of hers was Dark Passage with Humphrey. I love that movie and I love her. She was class to the 9th degree. There will never be another one, and she was so beautiful.
I agree she did age beautifully, Lauren had gorgeous cheekbones and despite what she says here she was exceptionally beautiful in the Confidential Agent and Written on the Wind.
A goddess like Lauren Bacall being insecure about her looks is somewhat weirdly validating for a mere mortal like myself. Shows that no one is ever truly happy
Such a class act. Lauren Bacall is my absolute favourite. I also adore Katherine Hepburn and Bette Davis. They didn't suffer fools and had the most fabulous style.❤
One and only time I went into Fortnum and Mason's, after an exhibition across the road, there was Lauren Bacall with a wire shopping basket in her hand, picking up a few bits and she was in the queue ahead of me and the security guard came to chat with her like they new each other. Probably been caught shoplifting previously.
Do you recall whether the TV program for which you worked on sound was titled "Afternoon Plus," or "Afternoon Plus 4," as the title change would narrow down the year more precisely. Evidently Mavis Nicholson co=hosted a few different incarnations of the program. But Nicholson does appear older in this Bacall interview than some others i viewed on the TVArk website.
Brooke Hanley I'm fortunate to be long time friend of Mavis Nicholson she is a kind lady always interesting and wonderful, so uplifting to meet her every time.
I have never asked Mavis about Bacall, I was not aware she had met her until I saw above interview; there are lots of famous people she has met or interviewed as well as those not so famous but hope to catch up with her this year.
This afternoon slot on Thames Television during the 70's entertained some of the most famous actors of Hollywood and from around the world, for me Mavis' interviews were only matched by Parkinson.
RIP Mavis Nicolson - she was very underrated, and sadly mostly forgotten when she died. A Welsh gem and a brilliant interviewer.
Aww Lauren was so beautiful and a class act. She will be missed. I love her honesty.
What a great interviewer.
Imagine being one of the most beautiful women in the world ever and not knowing it. She was spectacular.
A wonderful discovery, Mavis Nicholson, an excellent interviewer 😊😊🤗
YES! I've been devouring every interview I can find. An absolute treasure!!
Lord Grade took over as head of Channel 4, and he sacked Mavis. He said she was tol old? Awful man.
Mavis was a truly wonderful interviewer. Lauren Becall was is an amazing woman. What a treat. Jxxx
Lauren Bacall and Charlotte Rampling: eyes, voice, class...
I always thought they looked very similar!
Rampling could have played Bacall.
Yes there is a resemblance
Charlotte had good hair but Betty's was and still is ... Epoch. Hair is everything in film tv etc
Pure Class. Extremely talented and inspiring.🌹🌹
Saw her in a play in Melbourne, Australia. She had an undeniable presence.
Imagine one of today’s stars speaking this eloquently in an interview.
Lauren really looks spectacular here.
Brooke Hanley I'm a huge fan, but I think the opposite. I was thinking 'What a shame...' seeing her in the late 1970s and beyond.
She was at her splendid best in the 1940's.
YK ME what a shame? A shame what that she aged? Dick comment.
@@Dunstlookalike Are you serious? She looks absolutely beautiful and incredibly youthful here!
I I saw her in London as Margo Channing in the musical APPLAUSE. She was fabulous !!!!

Love that movie too. Excellent.
I thought I was the only one who liked that movie.
lianne mettam Great storyline and she looked wonderful in it. She was class.:) The whole cast was great including Agnes Moorehead.
Totally agreed. I love the secondary characters too--the cab driver especially.
It makes such a difference to have a parent or relative who adores you. I will always do this with my child
Engaged, intelligent and mature interviewing by Mavis Nicholson. Compelling.
She has the most beautiful blue eyes. Not just blue, but like a glacier.
At 1:45 Betty's showing her insecurities she always spoke of. She was so BEAUTIFUL here. I thought she aged beautifully!
I agree she did age beautifully, Lauren had gorgeous cheekbones and despite what she says here she was exceptionally beautiful in the Confidential Agent and Written on the Wind.
Such beautiful high cheekbones ...

Betty Bacall interview 1979. ❤❤❤
Such a class act. Lauren Bacall is my absolute favourite. I also adore Katherine Hepburn and Bette Davis. They didn't suffer fools and had the most fabulous style.❤
That voice is just so beautiful the same with Kathleen Turner and Genna Rollins

Tony P Radio Show That was Lainie Kazan
Max Wilson My partner whispered in my ear ‘I wonder how long before she brings Bogey into the conversation’ She did. It was definitely Betty Bacall.
@@tonypradioshow2569are you a professional bullshitter?
I remember this interview. I met Bacall at Euston Studios where I was working on sound. But this was not the 1970s; I would guess probably 1985 or 86.

I could probably find out for you might take little time though. Did you have pleasure of meeting Mavis as well?
I saw her in London in Sweet Bird of Youth in 1985 around that time.

Why is it that all these interviews are edited?
So hard to believe that someone will be treated that way because they’re Jewish or any other faith it’s so ridiculous!
War echt eine tolle Frau ! Diese Augen mmmh😉

Mavis had a terrible taste of dressing.
Sand paper voice.
"And how" that's what Bacall used to say...
Her voice is as deep as a man's.
ellamae it's freaking sexy
@@msmedved_ yes, and she's deeply feminine
Smoking & whiskey does that over the long term
And it's sexy as hell.
Eternal fornication.
Hmmm looks like man with wig and make up!
Shut up. You wish you looked half as good.
Get out !
She doesn't look masculine. I understand you are not attracted to her deepish voice
