Can I also recommend the use of Jocks/briefs when in a harness and not boxers. The thought of getting one of your "boys" pinched between your leg and the harness would rivel the pain Jamie went through, no offence Jamie.
I agree. I have really been enjoying this build. I think it is because this build seems to be challenging them a bit more than usual. Plus, I’m a bit envious of the build and the location!
The Farmhouse build was 80 parts and by part 65, they were installing flooring and starting with cabinets. This project is massive for a small crew. Good job guys.
Eric, you & Jamie and the rest of the Perkins crew do have a lot to be proud of! The size and complexity of this build is mind boggling. And the fact that you've done it with a 5 man crew (with help from Max, Eric's son and his buddy, and of course Stud Pack) and working a 4 day week makes it even more remarkable! Keep up the great work!
This homeowners are so lucky, they get to watch their home construction progress from home as it is being built part by part every day and get a chuckle every now and again too.
The level issue is too funny! I have the same level because it’s great for plumbing! But I’m a remodeler now and still use that level along with the other 10 to 15 levels I own!!! Also I completely understand to joy of remolding the newly constructed framing for costumers ever changing minds! Jaime is my spirit animal! And Eric is my moral compass!
You can see the gargantuan proportions of this build when you stand back and count the sheets of LP & look up those posts, it’s gunna be stunning when it’s finished 😳❣️
Love the content guys. I’ve been a big supporter for as long as I can remember. A couple of recommendation if it’s possible. The intro is great, maybe you can add outros with some bloopers and such. Also, I’d love to see mini videos (2-5 minutes) of Jaime going in depth with some topics or details, that would be very instructive #letjaimetalk . Thank you and keep up the good work!!!
Love your guys videos! Amazing to watch the process! It would be really interesting to see the business side of how you guys go about charging or billing on a project like this.
IMPORTANT TECH TIP: Pay attention to those measuring tape tabs. If it gets bent from dropping or missed catches it will read off. Make sure its perfectly square or be prepared for miscuts.
19:15 - I see a "Perkins Bros. Branded Level" on the horizon for future episodes..... a Proper Level without those Goofy Ends. That was a good "Field Improvement" that I have done a number of times myself.
Heyo, I happened to stumble on a Japanese carpenter, "Shoyan Japanese Carpenter" and he's recently-ish started a new compact house project. Anyway he recently did some stairs and I know Jamie loves stairs so maybe someone can pass it along for me. Hopefully you guys find something interesting in it because sometimes it similar but at times different in building techniques.
I prefer straight treadmill stars and landings because the angled stars are only usable on the outer 1/2 of the tread as the inner 1/2 is too shallow to walk on. You cannot walk them with a little kid beside you holding their hand.
When you use the lift to raise the columns, can you show how you hook them up? I've seen that you take the balance into consideration and it looks like you consider how to unhook the lumber. Also, please show as much of the plumbing, electrical, and HVAC install as you can. It would be great to see that work being done.
We have seen all the parts of this massive house! We have one question! Why is there green on the house orange on the roof and yellow on the posts!! Do they do different things?? Thanks so much love watching!!
If you lean the nail gun one way it's a frown, the other is a smiley. Your example, you shot at an angle you don't normally do for the camera. Leaning the top away from you. Awesome video, wish it was like 2 hours
Probably more accurate than my theory that it smiled at first because it was happy to get the attention and then it was sad because it felt criticized for smiling.
I believe this is the largest house they have put on the channel. A lot of work and a seriously expensive house. The finish work on those tall deck columns will be a chore.
I been building houses since 1981, fine effort to move that truss, but honestly the easiest way to move something like that is to RIP the entire length of the floor between the 2 floor trusses on either side, then move the truss over, put ledger boards on the 2 sides of the outer trusses and reinstall the floor panels. WAY less labor intensive and saves a lot of time.
Great work and good to see Max back on the tools getting time to put practical knowledge in to real experience. But what is he chewing, hope it’s not chewing tobacco?
This house reminds me of a house where the company I worked for did the plumbing. It was a 3 story house. 10 bathrooms, 2 of which were on the 3rd floor with cast iron tubs. 2 or 3 Master baths. The main master had 2 toilets, a urinal in his, and a bidet in hers. But it was for a couple who had one kid.
Just a suggestion for something that really won't come up very often, but you could have saved some math by totaling all the Zip boards before multiplying by 32. But on the plus side, the fact that it was so much work to get that truss to move just shows how well constructed it was. Just in an inconvenient spot.
Love your content and have been watching for years. However, at 18:21 I looked at Jaime and immediately thought "Why does he look like Elf on the shelf?" Lol. Keep up the great work and awesome content!!!
If you have access to fasteners like in this case, your best option is to punch the nails all the way through with a pneumatic punch. A heavy duty nail set works too but its labor intensive as you guys know😂
Okay, man, get ready. Hopefully you are not in an area that has been decimated by these horrific fires, and I hope you are. I am going to guess that the level of custom build that the PBB do will have to be accounted for…meaning every board put in place is custom built. Now calculate amount of materials times amount of time in skill involved to create. Let me know what figures you come up with and whether or not ANYONE in CA can pay that or even have any insurance company pay out the amount required!!! Let me know, thanks. I feel your wish to have a great quality build…a build that everyone should be able to enjoy and have. Buddy, CA just has cheap imported labor that doesn’t give a sh*t about the end product, they crossed over the border and are hired. They already know that they are at the cheapest price point and they are working for a paycheck…nothing more, so they can f-off all day long. And the companies that hire them also know it…and don’t care…they always get paid. What the PBB do in building should be the norm and not the exception. Unfortunately, long ago the carpet baggers got the upper hand in almost every trade business there is and the average American just has to accept shoddy, crap, no skill workmanship from these commercial builders…for the most part. Probably there are some that really deliver and are great…but IDK, there seems to be a good deal of shite as well. It’s so good to see companies like PBB and Studpack do great things. Custom build = building the right way…building to last! PBB keep on rocking the right way!!!
I see Stud Pack shared their background music with you. I always thought it was funny that the younger editor was using more rock and traditional music while you used more electronica.
Those 6”x6” p.t. timbers are going to shrink,as is a lot of the large framing materials. Hopefully it won’t cause too much of a problem later. I love your videos.

I get sad when the vids come to an end knowing I have to wait a few days until the next one. Love your videos Perkins Builder Brothers!
Erik, I’m 100% serious when I say Jaime is terrific un front of the camera. He’s damn talented and has so many great tips & tricks.
I don’t work in construction. I don’t work in a field related to construction. But I sure as heck look forward to your videos! ❤
Do you make the fruity ice cream 😋
I'm a 66yo RN and love the PBB!
I can’t wait to see the 6 hour long build of this when it’s finished
Oh, it'll be more like 10 hours, for sure.
I’m loving your project. I’m curious of what part of North Carolina it is in, because the views are absolutely remarkable.
WNC... close to where the flooding was... Bryson City, NC. area.
if the framing is this complex, i’m definitely excited to see the interior finishes especially the stair case

Max is NOT Jaime's son, Jaime's children are young children.
Moving the truss is one of the most painful things I’ve seen you do. I’m in awe.
This homeowners are so lucky, they get to watch their home construction progress from home as it is being built part by part every day and get a chuckle every now and again too.
and they get to see half of it remodeled during the original build
Thanks for sharing you awesome content. Have a productive week. Take care and be safe guy's.
Wish these was longer but I'll settle for this.. love ur videos
Massive undertaking. Wow, this series has been absolutely fascinating.
Welcome back Max! Love the fact you guys are wearing headphones/ear protection more.
This build has been like working in a jungle gym with all that scaffold!
That lift sure is coming in handy
A build so enormous and complex demands Perkins Brothers Construction to be built RIGHT and TRUE!!!
Great show! You guys work hard, and have a lot of fun. I just binged all the Mega home episodes this weekend. Like this Old House on steroids.

I look forward to each video in this series. This is one hell of a big home you are building & I am anxiously awaiting to see the final product!
You guys are an inspiration for anyone in the construction field
Loving the mini compilations at the start of the videos guys keep up the awesome work!
I don't know about y'all down in the mountains of NC, but here in NJ (and everywhere else), it's "lollygagging."
It’s your way in 49 states, but NC gets a pass.
The boys are back, for more framing! I love this house.

why do they shrink? I used 2x6's in my garage framing work instead of 2x4's. And 6x6's for the corner columns.
