I just started blading a few weeks go and I followed your videos exclusively and it helped so much! Today me and my neighbour skated a while to get ice cream! Thank you so much!
I rollerbladed when i was a teen, I'm 32 now and i just got back into it. I'm try to learn all the skills i was never able to so far. I'm so glad i found your channel. Youre an amazing skater and teacher!!!
Hi Polly! I love your videos ❤️ I'm new to rollerblades and your videos are very useful. I'm wondering if you could do a video on arm placement. To be honest, I seem to be learning to fly too. 🤣
please never stop making these videos! i learned so much from u lately specifically the 180 jump. now im trying crossovers and learning turns from ur other videos; will come to this video when im learning jumping!
Could’ve been worse. There’s a set of stairs that separate a series of restaurants from a nearby sidewalk in my hometown. If you try and jump those stairs and something goes wrong while trying to stick the landing, the only thing to stop you is a grass verge before you reach a busy main road. You definitely don’t want to be out of control in that situation.
Hi, friendly neighbourhood ice skater here! No, it's not the same (...probably). The technique with ice is very dependent on what kind of ice blades you have. If you have toe picks you will want to use a technique that uses the toe picks as it's safer on the landing. Toe picks can get in the way of a forward jump landing and cause a big fall if you try and jump how Polly is teaching. (Also important to note that ice toe picks are much lower and more easily tripped on than toe stoppers on roller skates). If you have no toe pick, it means you either have hockey skates or recreational skates with hockey blades. In this case the jumps are similar to what Polly is teaching here, but you should definitely reach out to a better ice skater and ask for advice while at the rink. Ice has a very different feel to it which can affect how you want to approach jumps. Good luck and have fun!!
Yes I ice skate and no it’s actually very different! I’m not an ice skating expert but the bunny hop is technically a lot more complicated on ice and you also never jump and land on two feet on ice I believe. Also I think jumps on ice are always done on a curve. Definitely don’t take my word for ice skating tho haha 😅🩵
Could you do a video on what to do on the first day in a skatepark with rollerblades? Thank you for your videos, you helped me a lot!!! :)
This is a GREAT idea

Thank you for making this video! My sister and I, just got new rollerblades and were are figuring out how to jump correctly
it is pretty common in old rollerblading videos that they land in a kneeling stance to the point of being hilarious

How old were you when you started rollerblading?
Very nice skating polly ❤😊
Thank you 🤗
Toe or heel ,must first landing to the ground?
Centered 😁
Thank you for this Polly!!!
I’d say land with just a slight scissor…like whatever is your natural stance. ❤
Natural stance! So well said ❤️
Do you still ice skate? Is the jumping technique the same as here?
