Personally I liked the FWD. I recently got the Topo Atmos. I like them. They almost have too much volume but once you get the laces dialed in they are nice. They are a bit squishy so it took a little time to get used to but I did a 17 miler and my feet had no pain. The tongue isn’t the best though. It’s a bit short and under padded so I get lace bite on my right foot. It’s not a terrible tongue, just not as good as the FWD or Phantoms tongue.
I tried the Topo Specter and the side walls (ankle collar) on the ankle is much higher…. It actually hit the middle of my ankle which drove me nuts… did you notice that?
I actually think they have a lot of similarities. They both have some firmness. The Phantom 3 has softer step in feel due to its dual density midsole. The Phantom 3 has bit more arch support. I think the upper is slightly more breathable in the Phantom 3. However, I am not sure that is true compared to the new Experience Form. The Fwd Experience definitely has more toe spring, that I like. Both good shoes. I need to do a video comparison.
@TheOldUltraRunner I appreciate the reply and explanation! And I'd really appreciate the video! My gut is saying the Phantoms are better for me, but up in Canada they're $50 more than the Altra. The Altras are even cheaper onsale right now.
Which one would you say has more width in the middle of the foot area? And which do you think has the roomier toe box / most comfortable? Which also has the least arch support? Also which would you say are most comfortable to just walk around in all day? Many thanks…
For width in the midfoot. I think they are very similar. However, the Specter is a bit curved, so the Fwd Experience may feel wider As far as forefoot, they are both pretty wide. I would probably prefer the Specter The Fwd Experience definitely has less arch support. They are both comfortable wearing around. However, I prefer the Specter, I am not a fan of the little pillows in the heel of the Fwd Experience. They don't bother me when running.
The Topo Specter looks like you got some good use on it. I have heard good things about it from my brother
I have about 300 miles on the Specter. I did wear through the outsole rubber. However, currently they still feel good just running on the foam.

I do really like the Fwd Experience and the Phantom. I have not gotten to try the Atmos.
It seems like a lot of shoe, good to hear your feedback.
Both are good choices. Thanks for another comprehensive comparison.
Thank you for watching!!!!

It didn't bother me, however, I do know it did bother some people.
Same here and way too narrow for me in the midfoot, such a shame because they are a cool shoe. The FWD experience is perfect for my feet tho
How would compare the Experience to the Topo Phantom 3? Thanks ☺️
