That was great. Two artists that are about 180 degrees apart in their musical roots but came together to become an outstanding duet. Alison Krauss has got to be one of the best pure voices around and Robert Plant is just amazing from Rock to Country and in between.👍👍🇨🇦
They are alot closer in music than you think and or know. Robert Plant was performing Blue Grass in the 60s. Alot of different styles were influence by blue grass. Not to mention green and brown grass. The music they make together is unmatched today. Very good clean sound. Vocals are perfect.
Awesome together. Robert has evolved into the elder statesman/Gandalf of music. Pure class and talent. Saw him in the early 70's in Led Zep. To this day the best concert I have ever seen.
Me too. Tampa Stadium, May 5, 1973. Best show I've seen. And broke the Beatles Shea Stadium record for most attendance at a single-act concert. No opening act, just 2.5 hours of Led Zeppelin.
"Light country music??!" This is blues! Pure and simple! Plant and Krauss are both expert singers, and combine them, and the result is actually bigger than even the two of them by themselves! If you get right down to it, this is an example of "Music is a universal language!"
@KraussAlison-dc4dq If you mean, do I love listening to you and your musical adventures - and some of the personalities you perform with, like Robert Plant? DARN RIGHT!!!
What a treat for Robert to get to work with the incomparably talented and lovely Ms. Krauss over the last third of his career. She really put the wind back in his sails. I don't know if there'll ever be another like her.
If Robert hadn’t of mentioned him, I would not have known that JD McPherson was on stage. I cannot recommend enough his “Undivided Heart & Soul” LP…he is a talented singer/songwriter who keeps the old roots of rock alive!
I must say Robert Plant is singing better these days than he ever did in his Led Zeppelin days. His voice has matured and he's much more disciplined as a singer. Who would have ever paired Plant and Alison Krauss? This is a singing duo made in heaven.
I absolutely love the chemistry between Alison & Robert, I love their blend of voices, I love Robert’s smile when J.D. is playing, I love the song, I love the band that’s heavy on the bass, Alison looks fantastic - I’ve played this video about 50 times since I found it about 10 days ago, every time it ends…it’s over, I know it, but I can’t let go….so I start the video again!
Today was the first time in many many years that I played a song for the first time and, when it ended, had to move the needle back to the beginning and hear it again... and then again... I stopped after 3 to read down through these comments but I know that right after I click 'Reply', I'm gonna play it again !! Damn, these kids really got something here !!
The harmonies of Alison Krauss and Robert Plant are so perfect. His sweet wink to her at the end was endearing and special. Their amazing band brings it all together even more!💞
Very cool how Robert looks so at ease in the Country-Bluegrass genre. He could cross over and start a new career tomorrow. Maybe Alison is his inspiration. She's a beautiful woman so who wouldn't want to stand next to her?
Sú to 100% profesionáli. Môžeš spievať všetko, rock, pop, hardrock, folk, country ale musiš vedieť spievať, a oni dvaja to vedia. Viem to podĺa seba keď som bol mlady spieval som s kapelou všetky žánre 20 rokov, ani raz som nemal tremu. Bolo jedno či bolo v sále 20 ĺudi alebo 500.
@Alison Krauss , I live in east Oregon, I could throw a rock across the snake river into Idaho. I saw you and your band open for Dwight Yoakam I think? I've had a TBI and my memory isn't great. Always been a fan! I do remember your concert.
G.stephens, Lucinda sung the song, she didn’t write it. In Lucinda’s you tube performance of this song she even introduces it as a song written by her friend Randy Weeks. Now a days this shit is so easy to google, look up & verify, why would you show people how ignorant you are by making a comment like this??
I saw Robert Plant live for the first time on Led Zeppelin's 2nd US tour in the Spring of 1969. How extraordinary to think that 55 years later the man would still be releasing and performing such great music and (in this part of his solo career) with such an amazingly talented artist like Alison.
Yes they are quite different but the common denominator is that they are both excellent collaborators so it all works out no matter what genre they came from. I love Led Zeppelin truly I do. My heart is right in the middle of 70s guitar rock. but that was just the beginning for Robert Plant. Everywhere he's gone he's brought a little zep with him and reinvented it. His work with Alison is really special. I think she might be his muse. She is his greatest partner since Jimmy Page.
Alison Krauss is new to me, I’m embarrassed to say, but what a wonderful singer! and Mr Plant is the perfect partner in this one 😁 so much joy from the man for so many years ❤ Led Zep music changed my life back in the Dark Ages 😁 joyous, thank you Robert, Jimmy, John Paul, John Bonham
I’ve been a fan of AK since her first album in 1987. Now, 27 Grammys later, she only seems to improve. I’m certainly old enough to appreciate RP as well from his Led Zeppelin days, then his solo work. Together or apart, these are truly gifted artists.
After hearing the Beth and Joe version I came back for this version again. This is the best of those two! And even the live version of Lucinda isn't as smooth as this one. And JD on guitar to boot. Great!
Sounds like a mixture of country and rockabilly. A lot of rockabilly licks in the guitar solos. I became a bluegrass fan when the movie"Oh Brother Where Art Thou" came out, and I remember listening to a lot of Allison Kraus back then, and Zeppelin was always my favorite band, and I always loved Robert Plant solo.Who would think in a million years these two would ever hook up and make music together...but they did, and thank God they did, because they sure do make beautiful music together, and we the fans get to reap the rewards.
Amazing vocal combination in harmony like no other this is a once in a lifetime sound sort of like the Everly Brothers add that family perfect harmony these may not be related to these two have individually or together created something truly unique and beautiful at the same time love hearing it.
@alisonprvt1 My dear Ms Krauss, what a pleasant surprise. I posted your video of ‘Can’t Let Go’-where you are on Robert’s right, and in which he introduces JDM’s delightfully long solo-to my extended family, and they almost all approved, and the most enthusiastic approval of all came from my new Italian son-in-law, which made me happy because we’re just getting to know each other. I’ve always liked bluegrass music, but didn’t glom onto you until I started searching for the best renditions of ‘Down in/to the River to Pray.’ Yours is my fave. In answer to your question, I was raised in eastern Washington State, which has (perhaps surprisingly) strong affinity for country music, because it’s rural, Idaho is near, and the influence of the South is felt too. I went to university in Seattle then migrated down to San Francisco and got to see and hear all the mid-late 60s bands-Janis and Grace and The Dead and Quicksilver and Santana and the rest. But it was my girlfriend from the next town downriver from mine in WA (nicknamed ‘the Birmingham of the Northwest’ for its total segregation) who schooled me in Country-Western, as we called it. My dad helped by having songs by the Sons of the Pioneers, and-because we lived in a blasted desert-songs like ‘Cool Water,’ and ‘Tumbling Tumbleweeds’ spoke to us. Those tumbleweeds could be scary, and their thorns flattened our bicycle tires regularly. It’s a treat to see your collaboration with Robert-so unexpected and unlikely, but it works very well, you got a great band, and we hope you keep it up. Will you or the both of you be playing in the S.F. Bay Area any time soon? With affection, -Leland Bond-Upson
@KraussAlison-dc4dq Why do you take another person's name as your own. I like honest people as I am one myself. Check out my music on RUclips and you'll get an idea of who I am.
Two of my favorite vocalists of all time singing together, what more could one want? Just perfect, thank you Sir Robert and Lady Alison, you two are beautiful together. Cheers!
What an unlikely pairing but it's fabulous. I love everything they've recorded together. Somebody said it in the comment string, "they are magic!" Check out that vintage drum kit from the 1930's! It has a great sound for this music!
Robert seems to be having a great time doing this with Alison and doing a great job on the vocals/harmonizing I will add. Two legends for sure turning out some great music.
A song written and performed often in concert by Randy Weeks, but made famous when his good friend Lucinda Williams recorded it for her 1998 album "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road." It was the album's biggest hit, and the only song on it that Lucinda didn't write.
I'm glad I stumbled across this performance on the morning of the 9p/8c broadcast on CMT! I'm usually at least a day or 2 late. I bought Alison and Robert's "Raising Sand" CD, and the vibe of this song reminds me of their cover of "Gone Gone Gone", originally written and recorded by the Everly Brothers. Awesome duo, for sure! Oh, and I've never heard of JD McPherson, so a big THANK YOU to the commenters who introduced him to me. (I was making breakfast when Robert mentioned his name) 😄❤
@Alison Krauss Well, ma'am, I've heard your name but I wasn't familiar with your music until I heard you sing "Rich Woman" with Robert Plant. Not only could I not believe that Robert was still performing, but also pairing up with you and singing a completely different style of music encouraged me to purchase your "Raising Sand" CD. So, yes, I'm one of your supporters! (maybe not so "lovely", though 😃).
Robert and Alison are true innovators. They have kept their craft alive in a fiercely competitive market. They each have maintained their distinct individuality while creating a nostalgic brand new sound. Very entertaining. I have "Raising Sand" and "Raise The Roof", both very well done. A union of true icons in the music world. Thanks for sharing.
how many years have they been recording and playing together .. its somewhere around 15or more.. Such a blend of styles and voices.. WOW.. I love this stuff…. great music,…. I can see the years on each of them.. HEY Im 71.. but there still out there and I think the best part is they are both "rockin". Im from the era where "Zepplin" was riding the wave, and later I found Allison's music lovely ( and I was not a blue grass fan" BUT… together.. amazing..
outstanding - best singing twins ever - 2 peas in a pod - I love them together and I love the band - they bless my heart and I see the joy and happiness in Alison and Robert, they make me smile also - congratulations to you all for your world wide audiences. xx 🤩
Glistening tear ducts activated, rendered momentarily wordless by the enchanting collaboration of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss - it's akin to savoring the most velvety, impeccably baked pie in the universe.
@KraussAlison-dc4dq ever since you teamed up with Robert…I also researched your previous work and really loved it too…so I listen to it all…I love good music..since the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and even prior with pre Beatles era genres. I even play guitar since the 70’s so music is a lifelong passion…
This is an amazing cut of this great tune writted by Lucinda Williams. This band is so solid and the rythm on this song just makes you rock around. That is quite a guitar J. D. is ripping on there. Oh yeah I am 80 but this one has my butt rockin. Allison is so stunningly beautiful! Bravo Bravo Bravo---------!
I never get tired of hearing Robert and Allison together, and what a cracking band they have playing with them! 🤘🏽🤘🏽

Who would have imagined that Robert Plant would be singing songs like this and just killing it?
Cause he’s the best!!
Indeed... Who would? But ain't it more than just "good"? ;-)
Because Robert's always been a blues/country musician. Listen to Black Dog, it *_Screams_* blues!

@@rogerwilliams5382I agree. Their roots aren’t all that dissimilar, though their musical paths have been in markedly different directions.
Let's not forget K D Lang
Closer than you think.
I've never seen Alison Krauss so aggressive on vocals -- so Rock & Roll -- it's really wonderful to see, and hear.
That's what attracts me to this track. How/where can I grab this for my music library?
I’ve never heard her sing above a whisper.
@jilllane5709 It's rare. We must treasure this lol
Alison, she leads through the whole session so beautifully. Man, it's been a long time since we've seen such a great duo.
@Alison Krauss yes
When Robert Plant smiles it takes years off him. Love to listen to these guys together..
The chemistry between these two is just wonderful. They always have a ball of a time.
Love to hear them together. Love their voices together.
Great timing together, they just don't miss anything when they harmonize.
I STILL love this! And people just do not know what a treat this is!!

The way they switch lead…it’s flawless. She looks like she is having a ball! Robert too.
Robert can sing anything ! Great master !
And Robert can say he got to sing with an Angel!

Awesome together. Robert has evolved into the elder statesman/Gandalf of music. Pure class and talent. Saw him in the early 70's in Led Zep. To this day the best concert I have ever seen.
Saw them in 69 and 72. Incredible. But did u ever see The Stones in say ‘66 or ‘69 or ‘72 or for that matter in 2019 as I have? Unsurpassed.
Lucky you

Robert Plant has said that working together she has taught him how to sing.

They are sooo good together!
@KraussAlison-dc4dq yes I am…the music fills my rooms often…
@KraussAlison-dc4dq Illinois…hanging in there too…I love “The Price of Love”…and so many others. Thanks for your efforts in music…
They are having a ball…😊
This is an amazing cut of this great tune writted by Lucinda Williams. This band is so solid and the rythm on this song just makes you rock around. That is quite a guitar J. D. is ripping on there. Oh yeah I am 80 but this one has my butt rockin. Allison is so stunningly beautiful! Bravo Bravo Bravo---------!
What a beautiful pairing of two legends, one Bluegrass, the other Rock and Roll. Soulful and beautiful! They simply "click".
Love these two !
Two of the world's most amazing musical voices no words to describe..bad-ass back up band as well

I love this tune. I listen over and over..can't wait until you and Allison start your concert tour in 2023.
