- There is no commentary in this video, just a few of the more intense matches between me and Speedy, whom I was directed towards on twitter a few days ago when they broadcast a Panel De Pon challenge. I instead taught them the secrets of playing this online which I have recently learned, as it is latency free, so that we may fight each other at full power. I knew going in they were likely better than me, and this is what it looks like when two gods clash.

Fun fact:
Lip's Stage from the Super Famicom Panel de Pon is in this game, but the only the Japanese version. Accordingly to The Cutting Room Floor, you could access it in the American version, but only with cheats.
I certainly had fun doing this man. :D We must play again some day soon!
Def. Just saw this because youtube stopped emailing me about comments AGAIN. Thanks, broken system!
I like how it constantly has the blaring warning siren from original Starfox in the background.
I've also heard it on Warioware smooth moves on the boss intro jingle
I have no idea how I never knew this game had an english version. I know the game more by the name of Panel de Pon, so I ended up only getting the JP version lol
Those got real intense!
I miss the Puzzle League games...
Allow me to direct you to Super Plexis on steam, it's still small and early access but there's a discord community to find people to beat up and it's already super great for vs, eventually there should be a single player game and other stuff I think store.steampowered.com/app/863230/Super_Plexis/
@@ZetaPlaysDon't forget about Panel Attack as well or Panel De Pon Madoki. Those are both great fan games. If you want the feel of SNES PDP panal attack is the one to go for. For cool features like a boss mode and support with I think 99 other players Panel De Pon Madoki is the one you want. Has yet to be implemented yet vut has been shown off.
@@silverwolflee6978 i didn't know about the second, but i found panel attack, while accurate, too jank for me to enjoy. Swapette Showdown is also in the works, which looks to give the tetris attack feel by having lots of cute characters in it with their own special attacks (and one character that swaps in a 2x2 area by spinning the 4 blocks), hopefully it'll be good too.
What do you mean by Jank?
@@silverwolflee6978 no polish, like how when a game ends it just immediately dumps you unceremoniously to a grey screen with some tiny text saying who won
Heh, I wasn't expecting to see this. I'm a friend of Speedy's and I actually introduced him to your videos years ago through your short Robowarrior video, which at the time was about the only footage of it I could find on RUclips. I have to go yell at him now for not telling me that you and him had a PDP match.
it happened just yesterday before my stream lol
i decided to record it because nobody's really seen anyone put up a fight with me before, and also to show off how well ds netplay works once set up, this is the best online puzzle league has ever been or will be unless nintendo finally makes a new one
I'm a dirty stylus user, highest chain was 67 on stylus
aw wish this style of puzzle/Tetris wasn't as obscure as it is, unlike puyo puyo which is relatively active. unless if I'm wrong which if it's the case pls let know
Panel attack has an existant community as far as I know and super plexis on steam at least has a discord you can drag people into games from
Is there any guide available to get better at puzzle league?
There's probably something, but I never used one, the best two things you can do is play endless and just practice raising the screen up, finding chains, setting them up and continuing them as they fall as well as grinding against the hardest cpu in vs matches to get better at doing that but fast. The only actual advice I have is that impressively huge chains aren't useful if you're trying to kill someone, it's better to do faster 3 or 4 chains with something small in between to keep the garbage flowing and giving them less time to set up before it clears
I find this kind of game really nice, but I suck at it lol
How does one set netplay up for this?

All of this finicky nonsense for you and whoever you wish to play with. There's a newer nmap version now, and my link to melonds is no more so you'll have to find that and the rom you wish to play elsewhere if you don't have them already or aren't using actual hardware, which supposedly works, but I didn't test that out or remember if there's more steps for that.
Alternatively, just play Panel Attack and deal with the jank or get Super Plexis on steam for easier options
@@ZetaPlays Thank you very much
@@ZetaPlays Though, is there absolutely no way to get Netplay working over wifi? What the hell is the difference? It's the same protocol
@@uncannysnake I don't remember why but there was a specified reason why the software required a lan connection to run off of, that may have changed in the past two years but I dunno
This really misses the charm of Tetris Attack #nostalgia
Zeta, we should play sometime! :D
Sure!
Also thanks youtube for not emailing me comments anymore apparently!
