Hyperfest is one of the other premier events at VIR. If you make it down to one, let me know and I can show you around and get you in the start stand for one of the races. VIR is a great place as a spectator or for a track day, but for racing, the level of risk is high enough for me to prefer other tracks. There's a surprising lack of passing zones and a lot of places where it's difficult to go two wide for extended periods without running off pace and getting caught by the people behind you. The only place I've hit a wall is VIR in oak tree and I've done it twice. The new wall in turn 14 continues to eat cars, but there isn't much else as an option to keep people from getting speared as they turn into the roller coaster. As someone whose racing career is likely over if I ball up the car, VIR is always a butt puckering weekend. My series' season finale for the Mid Atlantic region is this weekend at VIR and my primary goal (besides winning) is to not crash.
The clip of the "skid pad" is actually the old kart track. Hyperfest just uses it for the burnout contest because it's not used for much otherwise and that event is pretty... harsh.
The Mustang owners comment definitely made me laugh 😂. And yes, I think Indycar would be a great fit for VIR, as would an IMSA doubleheader. I’m definitely in favor of IMSA having one race for prototypes and one for GT cars. And how was VIR not included in Assetto Corsa Competizione’s American 🇺🇸 Track Pack? That’s practically a war crime!
I’m also surprised that Assetto Corsa Competizione did not include VIR. Most Sim/racing games have it. Should be an easy license to get for most game developers. The mod track is great but not perfect.
@@darena_film I’m guessing that Kunos Simulazioni doesn’t have the data yet. There’s a lot of other tracks that are likely in the same boat. Not just GTWC America 🇺🇸 tracks, but also GTWC Asia and Australia 🇦🇺. There’s even some European circuits that are presently MIA, like Hockenheim and Magny-Cours.
Maybe. Formula E likes to be near or in big populated cities. But they been going to permanent racetrack lately. I could see them going to VIR. The track is an FIA Grade 2 and it could host a race at the track.
