    I'm literally speechless after watching these two performances... easily the highest level of performance I've ever watched on this channel 🔥 Make sure you check out the original clips in the description, and leave a comment letting me know what you thought of the performances below!
    I just wish the camera work on these performances was better... why do you have to zoom into people's face like that 🤔 Anyway, if you ever want to submit a video it's at adamtanpercussion.com/submit ✅ Have a great week!

    That performance of "Merlin" is just incredible... back when I used to try to play classical marimba, that was always my favorite piece - such a brilliant composition (not that I could ever really play it). I loved seeing your reaction to it Adam! Keep up the great work!

      Kai is an epic player and yes Merlin is so underrated from a compositional standpoint, so many textures!!! Thanks for watching 🤗

    Anders was a guest artist at my school in 2018 and he played this live during our Spring Percussion concert. Everyone in the percussion studio also got a private lesson with him. The guy is nothing short of amazing

    Had the good fortune of seeing Anders play that Paganini in person when he toured with the first World Percussion Group. My university was one of their first stops when they first toured. Wasn't hard to see how he got so good - he spent all his time during the clinics WPG put on for us playing independent rolls with two practice mallets on his lap/leg. He was still an undergraduate at that time if I understand correctly.

    It's incredible, he is even better now (this was a couple of years ago) Yes he adjusted his mallets, he sometimes play Traditional, Burton and Stevens in the same piece and sometimes with different techniques in left and right hand. Thanks Adam for a great channel!

    For what its worth - physical limitations usually require the player to transpose the bottom line up an octave. Nancy had to do just that and we would discuss physical limitations in our lessons using that as an example.

    I don't really care for Merlin too much. It's too atonal and percussive for my taste. I really don't like playing or hearing really percussive stuff for long periods on marimba. Pieces like this are why bars get broken on the instrument. 🤦🏾‍♂️😂

    If you would learn how to be quiet and just listen, your program would be far more enjoyable. Wait until the conclusion to voice commentary. Just a thought, not to mention your extreme voicing of an alternative lifestyle. We senior citizens don't appreciate such a proclamation.

    • @AnDream109
      @AnDream109 4 года назад +4

      Well, we could always just watch the original video on the artist channel. You could appreciate how its intended and leave a like for the performance there (links are in the description). Most people come to Adam's channel to see his reactions and hear the breakdowns. (Its kinda like a marching bands judges tape in that way. But with visual as well.) These type of videos definitely fall into the "reaction video" category of RUclips.

    • @AdamTanPercussion
      @AdamTanPercussion  4 года назад +4

      I appreciate your opinion Jim, despite you assuming that I've never watched a performance in silence and just listened. You're always welcome to watch the original videos which I've linked in the description above if you prefer to hear it in silence. What is "extreme voicing of an alternative lifestyle"?

    • @howardstark
      @howardstark 4 года назад +1

      @jim edward First of all, "flexing" isn't some homoerotic term. It's a colloquialism derived from the practice of someone flexing their bicep; as in "showing off." How ignorant and stupid can you be?
      Secondly, speak for yourself. Just because you (personally) think there's some cryptic "alternative lifestyle" message here (when there clearly isn't one) doesn't give you the right to speak for other senior citizens and include them in your opinionated comment.
      The first part of your criticism was acceptable; the second part had no business being here in a percussionist reaction video.

    • @927drummerboy
      @927drummerboy 4 года назад

      @@howardstark He really does need to stop flying around the room; he's making his life lifestyle too obvious; or maybe that's exactly what he wants to do. Maybe he needs to wear a rainbow t shirt and really advertise.

    • @howardstark
      @howardstark 4 года назад

      @@927drummerboy See? It doesn't take a genius to figure out you're blatantly homophobic.
      So, your actual critique was just to "ease" into your *real* issue.
      You don't have to feel ashamed nowadays, Mr. Edward. You can admit that you find him attractive, and that you only want to hear his voice at the end for your "big finish."
      Set yourself free of your own prison.
      It's really okay.
      Be free.
